But I'm hoping for a good black Friday sale
Yeah ik
Rip wallet
I'm hoping to get at least 30% off
But apparently this thing is solid
I've had bad times with Dell in the past
yea its a hidden gem
But I mean 27", 1440p, g sync, IPS
i love mine
That's all USD
IPS? on what
:(
not the dell
oh yea well, $350 USD vs what like $1494930593
yea the price diff just isnt justifiable to me
you guys have black friday deal equivalents any time?
Dell would be about $600 CAD
So the asus is about $300 more
For a fair comparison
And yeah
We get great black Friday deals up here now
Retailers were losing so much business to the US cause everyone would just cross the border so now we get solid deals up here too
Yeah I could maybe get it on sale
But in theory the asus would drop proportionately in black Friday deals
To me worth the extra $300 if I'm planning on this thing lasting me minimum 5-10 years (only reason I'd upgrade is when 4k 144hz becomes viable and affordable)
So that's like an extra $5/month over 5 years if u cost it out - that's how I see it at least
its yo money, just mathematically doesnt work for me, theres no way its 50% better, but it costs 50% more
yea not doing the math or whatever, just giving rough scenario
No you're right I just fucked up my math
i just guessed...
Aha you're a natural then ;)
V min reqs hit but not of any use 😄
so they think a 1050 non Ti will run it? at what fking res
and what does min req mean these days, 30fps?
yea they dont explain much
this is where i hate system requirements.. in this day and age we expect more
this vagueness used to work when Doom 1 came out
and people will definitely assume that if they have min spec requirements that they will get 60 fps at ultra or some shit
they need a 1080p and 1440p ultra settings system requirements 60fps along with 1080p 60fps minimum low settings requirement
for PC
from their pov, id assume they are vague to avoid any conflicts
yep legal bs
requires the consumers to run real tests post release
gg ;D
even recommended isnt even good enough for min specs for 1080p proper gaming on low 😄
i mean barely
i guess thats the new "min specs", the recommended
makes a mental note
we should file a formal complaint
I mean, I don't meet the DS3 specs, yet I can run it
https://i.imgur.com/pyqNFEW.png techgore for u all
9brown
is 9 the lube you are using?
nah it';s the amount of beatings it can handle a minute
i cant wait for my next keyboard
did you order a new one?
i kind of want a pok3r or something programmable ith the same size
my friend i went to an az keyboard meet up with is really into them, he has (what i assume) is a custom one
hes gonna give me that and solder on some aliaz switches
if i like the switches enough ill get them for my work keyboard
yea im into keyboards, but not making them
the furthest i would go is swapping switched in my gmmk or lubing them
im not gonna mix housing, stems, springs, and all that
he has the massdrop 63 switch tester, has a cherry switch tester, and i got things he didnt have in a novelk keys switch tester
nice
yea thats sadly the one thing you can really test on a switch tester, is how consistent they are
hmm found a place that sells cherry mx <color> for 61 ct a piece, i'll get some
aliaz switches are basically zilents but slightly less bumpy and way less expensive
gotta havethat tactile feedback
i like a slight bump
just enough to know i pressed the key
i hate when it feels like im trying to get over a bump to press the key
ya
i like lighter switches too, not cherry speed fast, but 50g seems to be my sweet spot
ya whatever suits you the best
i tried mainly cherry switches, i haven't even tried the new clear ones
but the clear one is linear i think
my bad i was thinking of a different switch
clear is tactile 65g
gateron clear is the 35g switch
i cant do tactless
i know theyre supposed to be the best for gaming but i couldnt type for sht on them
like 100 typos per second
yea neither can i, i tried since "it was the gamer switch" but it just felt lifeless
i need to feel something activate
plus they are just stupid loud lol
you have to learn not to bottom them out and do probably months of muscle memory
all mech switches are loud without o rings
loud i guess compared to membrane yea
the browns on the corsair are good enough not to trigger my wife
and im in the living room 5 ft away
thats what i dont get when people say reds are quieter, sure they are quieter to a degree, but when the loudest part is the bottom and topping out part it doesnt really matter much
unless you get blues, then youre a dick
wait until you try a silent switch majic
you can damp the sound even more by using rings
makes the keys a bit more mushy but personally i don't mind it
i dont like that it shortens the travel, and you still get the clack from the switch topping out
that';s why you use double o-ring
lol what?!
hell yeah
ima try it when i get home
it worked on my filco and coolermaster boards
so should work on all cherry switches + clones
wait youre serious?
about the double rings? yes
how does that even work?
that wouldnt stop the topping out clack
it would just raise the keycap right?
it doesn't bottom out the switch
it gets just past the tactile bump
releasing the switch fast is what makes it loud
but bottoming out with rings does not make contact with plastic sound
you mention this after i already pulled all my keys off to clean them last week
i dont like how short it makes the travel
the bottom out sound is a lot better, and it does reduce the top out sound
but id rather just buy silent switches
interesting, i may not mind the perceived bottom being shorter
i dont feel like i ever bottom out my keys to begin with
might end up being easier on my wrists to have a shorter bottom
yea if youre a touch typer this would be great
but i press fairly heavy
i dont mash to the bottom
but i feel i barely touch the bottom
i have severe wrist issues so i definitely dont put much force into each key
the browns require a lot more force than my old membrane kb
get light switches and do the double o ring thing
it took a while to get used to putting that much into actuation
that looks like an absolute nightmare to take the tops off every freaking key lol
not dismantling my poor k70 like that
and thats why youre keyboard was caked in dust
solder? yeaaa and i paid $130 for this beast so it's with me for at least 10 more years
you dont have to solder anything to add o rings
soldering is inevitable if you beat your keyboard like you beat your wife tbh
threw me off for a sec, i never told you how badly i beat my wife
i feel like a majority of the sound coming out of my keys is the up
ya top is the loudest for me too
topping out may not occur as much with rings i guess
especially the keys with supports (space/shift/enter)
not as hard
youll top out, it will just have less travel to get as loud
hmm, seems no matter how much i press the key down.. the top out sound is just loud
always
them silent switches...
i love my k70 too much 😄
if the wife doesnt care, i dont!
mine arent loud enough to ever be picked up on coms
god i hate those people but thats bad mics too
man
i have a logitech board that has romer g switches, those are silent too
are there any chinese dudes that print (custom) mousepads WITH overlocking?
wtf are you saying....
logitech is POOP. They don't have the pro esports version with detatchable cable and tactile switches
the sewing on the edges to keep it from breaking apart from the anti slip matt
is called an overlock
their mice are super good, keyboard are ehh
ya i got a g900
pretty happy about it
their pro series keyboard looks pretty decent
are you talking about their mouse pads?
no, g900 is a mouse
"the sewing on the edges to keep it from breaking apart from the anti slip matt
is called an overlock"
does logitech have that
for their mouse pads?
ive never owned a logitech pad, but i dont think they do
what else would have sewing on the edges?
lol thats what i was confused about
swag ass leather finished keyboard maybe
you kinda jumped between topics
ya my bad
i was like... a sewed edge kb, hmmmm
i was saying logitech is poop because most of their keyboards dont have detachable cables
was thinking wrist rest or something
oh right that could also be an option, but nah.
i currently have a chinese mousepad which is baller as hell
i want the same one but with overlock
yea the pro keyboards are cool, i was gonna try to get one, but i got the aliaz keeb coming soon
i get my pads from novelkeys, they are smooth though
i dont put my fingers on the right keys so i have to at least see where im at
to start
i only really use the left 3 fingers and right 2 to type due to my wrist problems
i type faster than most people regardless lol
i dont remember my last test
just got 104.37 on this with 98.7% accuracy
missed a fkin letter
114 98%
english is hard
137 100% when writing the dutch
i wish i could aim as fast as i could type t bh
I've got all Logitech gear as the lights sync up and flash lovely colours when I play battlefield 😉
But seriously, I really like all their gear
Their keyboards are the only ones other than Corsair that I'd buy tbh
mice they are the best, kb its good, but not worth their normal asking price, and i buy "audio grade" headphones
stupid newegg sent me a 15% off coupon, thats a bummer to throw away

NO, my 3770k is 100% just as good as anything else out at 1440p!
amd mobos seem to all suck

Should I upgrade to 2080 from 1070?
It's not ray tracing
Its partial ray tracing that is cut down to run in real time on a GPU
DLSS is most likely not going to function how we think, or will be overrated. Supersampling involves rendering at a higher resolution and sampling the image to get a lower resolution, obviously that can't be done on a server rack once and be applied to every scenario to a game.
Its been how long since RTX came out and where are the RTX features? Don't buy into advertising before it even exists
I see RTX going like SLI. Nvidia pushes it for a few years and then it dies a slow death
@rose eagle There are X470 motherboards that are better than mainstream Z370 / Z390 motherboards.
A lot of Z370 / Z390 motherboards have some issues, while X470 is generally smoother
The Crosshair 7 Hero on X470 is overkill for Rzyen and is $220. Yet Z370 / Z390 motherboards always have something in that price point that could be better.
Also AMD generally doesnt suffer from more phases = better that happens on Intel (see Z390 godlike)
I'm getting the 2080Ti for 120 at 3440x1440
It might be able to make it on low for BFV
😕
well I'm upgrade from a 1070
and yes, I have saved up money for 2 years for it
not particularly happy about how this generation has come to but, it is a 2x up in raw power
a 1070 is great for 1080p situations but does not work in 1440p, especially when its a ultrawide
I know its a splurge and stupid to most but, hey I don't drink or smoke
let a man spend his money in stupid ways once in a while
And DLSS kinda
also I'm an engineer so, Deep learning hardware, it fascinates me
Im probably spending some more money on Phillips hue lights
@steep gust I was just considering 2700x to hold me over till 7nm but I'm not seeing why motherboard to get to make sure it'll be compatible and stable
ah.... I bought a hue bridge a while back and a bunch of "magic hue"s
turned out those have nothing to do with philips hues
i knew it that ddr6 memory next to the vrms frying the card
is that card really $1200 dollars?
wtf is going on
reminds me of this https://youtu.be/CtK1O-UoLMM?t=550
the mOre yoU buY thE moRe you saVe
Wise words from the man himself... NOT
this doesnt seem to impact 2070 at all, or even 2080?
i feel like odd times i see some small pixels flicker on my secondary monitor, not during gaming
i have 1 dead pixel
kill it with fire
my 55" samsung tv has 3-4 dead pixels, one is white
from my kid smashing it with something..
i have a dead bug in my screen for the last year, its like... 5-6 pixels worth of black =/
its my secondary monitor so doesnt .. bug me so much
Ba dum tss 🥁
but i was pissed, it was in there and i tried to thump the monitor to get it to fall to the bottom or get out and it smashed it permanently inside
what is this 1080 nonsense
1080p
i played with a 27" and its too wide, lost awareness
i prefer 24" 1080p supersampled to 2560 like i do in bf1
you play with monitors closer than arm stretch away?
prob play with outstretched + 4in, not sure typical human reach 😄
yea i dont think many games offer that res sampling do they?
its aa
so you end up with the same perf requirements as 1440p
yes but much smoother image and perfect fit for gaming on a desktop
what do you mean by smoother image?
27" is for multi window use
eh i mean, to each their own i guess hehe, some people play on freakin 65" TV 😄
i havent tried 24 in ages
and end up on the bottom of the scoreboard
haha
play in windowed! 😄
i could to simulate 24" i guess
just to try to see the diff
i cant do it
lol
need moar pixels to see people far away!
weirdos with their 1080p
hides 1080p, pretends to own an 1440p screen
i'll gladly take up more ppi than higher refresh rate~~, human eye can only see 60hz tbh~~. I'll oc the monitor and hope to even reach 75hz xdddd
my human eyes can 100% see 90+ fps
you cant unsee it, the input handling is important
its just an overall smoother experience whether its raw visual or not, its the feels
i mean even your mouse moves around in windows smoother on a 144hz screen
ive got a 27" 144hz next to a 27" 60hz
ok i just moved my borderless from 60hz to 144hz and its unplayable to do it on my 60hz
you wont understand til you buy a 144hz monitor ;P
you should be able to score two Dell S2716 for $350 ea black friday
zero need to blow $600
#1 chosen 27" on pcpartpicker
its a fkin solid as hell monitor, i love it.. got it for $350 last black friday
which is just the dumbest steal ever
@plain vessel yea its pretty hard to recommend anything beyond the dell monitor majic is talking about
i have it, and i know a lot of people that have had it, and someo of them having "better" monitors than the dell
ehh, i always felt like AOC was too off brand
rog is good, but imo overpriced
yea the dell looks like a standard monitor, but its performance is fantastic
the Dell to me is amazing looking
bevel is like 4mm on all but bottom
i guess maybe thats all monitors these days dunno 😄
my 2013 Asus is fkin massive bevel wise compared to my Dell
i honestly wouldnt want it any smaller, it would blend in to the dang wall which would be distracting
hey guys what proccessor would be a cheap ugprade to my i3-8100? i have an intel compatible board so i guess some kind of i5? my budget is limited tho
👀
hm 4c4t... anything with 4c8t or 6c6t would be an upgrade for BF
we need budget really though
Intel? Budget?
i mean, the i5 line is usually the sweet spot
even though ryzen is better on a budget
I has Ryzen 1600 👌
BfV is supposed to work well with 6 cores isnt it?
recommended is 4c8t so that is pretty comparable to 6c6t
so a 8400 is the sweetspot?
for intel yes
I mean
ryzen is 2600
a 8700k would be the sweetspot for no budget
well no budget would be 9900k
2600 isn't that much better than a 1600 👀
is there a real diference while gaming 1080p 60 fps from 8400 to i7 8700?
for 1080p?
paired with an 1060 6gb?
I9
Ive got dat 1060 6gb too
yea 2600 is like 10% better, but prices last time i checked they were the same
i current have a 6400 and 1060 6gb
6400 👀
thinking in up it to a 8400 or 8700 (non-k)
2600 costs 160, 1600 is 155
i'm current having too many frame drops on BF1
what is the price difference for 6400 vs 8400
what i normally do is youtube "6400 vs 8400 with gtx 1060 6gb" and there are usually results
my 4c8t 2012 i7 is pretty on par with most stuff out, so for Frostbite right now you just need (12)
look at those, and see if the price difference is worth it to you
i wish there was a term for cores plus threads
I plan to do a Ryzen ITX build with my old 960 that is sitting in a box
will the i7 8700 overkill my 1060 6gb?
prob not, 1080p can take all the help it can get
its not what i consider to be the same "tier" of hardware
sorry for late reply my budget would be kind of around 300-400 euro
8700k is a good future proofing cpu imo
i have 8gb of ram and a gtx1060 3gb aswell
yeah i know that it made rust and frostpunk nearly shit themselves
i3 budget, i5 mid, i7 high end
gtx 1050/1050ti/1060 3gb budget, 1060 6gb/1070/1070ti mid range, and the rest high end
thats how i do builds
for gaming
aight i see, i am satisifed with the 1060 3gb so far i love it coming from an intel hd, but the cpu sturggles sometimes
ik but i'd prioritise cpu first
my 3770k OCd is prob the perfect cpu for my 2070 and that makes me sad
but it doesnt make sense to do an i7 and a 1060 6gb imo
whats your i5 @storm osprey ?
i have a 4th gen i7
i5 4c4t is bad
with a gtx 1080
ah ok
anything 4c4t is bad for BF
if i work one month of summer warehouse job i get around 700-800 euro, depends on overtime
your min frames will suffer horribly
so whats the best upgrade for that if the 300 of that is already going for a guitar amp
so like 400-500 remains
you can get an i5 easily
your min frames will suffer horribly thats what's happening to me
i dunno how much sht is in euro
its not just a direct conversion of usd to euro
small differnce
but 1060 3gb is also going to struggle because of vram
500 euro is 570 dollars
i'm from brazil, anything here is too expensive
whoa we got two diff 1060 discussions.. one guy had 6gb?
oof
i'm with 1060 6gb
3gb is fine as long as you dont use too much vram
the problem is my cpu is bottlenecking my gpu
(my 2nd build is 1060 3gb)
rn i can run ultra but it often gets the orange frame thingy up which means like 40-50 fps
i blame the cpu tho
Frostbite... driving the economy
@sick marsh check vram usage in settings, if you are using too much vram that could be the problems
Frostbite engine cost me $550
i play rocket league other than V coming out so i def didnt need a new gpu lol
rocket leaaague
goooooooooooalll
lucioball > rocket league
okay i will check the usage next time i fire it up
hey. i love overwatch, but rocket league >>>>>>>>> lucio ball
he bought a rtx 2070 because he wasnt getting good fps at 1440p with his old gpu
hahah ooh i see
i see but then i dont understand like some engines used by big studios are available to purchase to everyone arent they why is the frostbite engine so expensive
or did i just mix everything up
idk anything about engines or how companies go around letting others use their engine
cant be letting indie studios make games off it
they'd prob produce something better 😄
hides
but something like unreal engine is built for other peoples use
i mean yea Unreal kinda died out though
idk why some companies dont let others use theirs
EU4 is used in a lot of games
and a SHIT load of indie games
i cant recall when unreal was made avail to purchase
like 10 years ago is when it became more mainstream
in the unreal tournament days you could use the engine but not in the same way people do today
UE is what i mean exactly
i wish amd could prove their 7nm cpu's would beat a 9700k
there's a -34% chance
"Tests have revealed that the upcoming CPUs are faster than the i7-8700K from Intel, but are very unstable and crash very often at the moment."
well then
wut
so far this CPUs are only test samples and not finished products so it is normal that they are not stable
it says theres no guarantee they will be AM4
that would depend on your board
might be possible since there are rumors saying that there will be more than 8 cores for the mainstream platform
it should have set it automatic for you
feels unsafe to buy anything at the moment, guess black friday is out
not that 7nm will honestly bring that much to the table
2700x is 8c16t but still isnt anything to write home about
No one knows we will have to wait
good streamer cpu
nah it wont be shit 😄
nothing in the cpu department is going to be huge perf gains anymore
It will not be bad for sure however no one knows how fast the new AMDs are going to be
8700k prob good til 2024
gaming will continue to be 144hz 144fps sweet spot, so even if you can push 200fps theres no reason to eat that much CPU
If they have not reinvented the wheel by then sure
yea i mean of course who knows what tech has in store.. but the next series for both amd and intel seem to just be normal core and thread boosts
cores, threads, ghz, squeeze more out
However I think that until 2024 the i-series from Intel will have come to an end. I think that probably around 2020 or 2021 there will be a completely new architecture
I mean the i-series has reached its peak already. There are only little gains to be made left. Only a new architecture can give us some huge gains again
are many games actually utilizing more than 8 threads at the moment?
my 4c8t 3770k is twiddling its thumbs waiting to be replaced and i have means to but this nasty ass 2012 motherboard has to sit in my case since i cant find any reason to upgrade
(brown) motherboard
i just got a nice new case and can see everything inside 😄
So far there are only a handful of those games but Battlefield is one of those. But since most people still only have 4 cores this will not change to quickly.
My PC is powerful but also not the most beautiful
That's why I do not have a case having a glass side-panel
lol, its 95% about the performance
That is true - also I do not like all that RGB stuff out there
I want a good and stable framerate, no freezing, good visual quality and a crisp sound 😃
i want my hardware to not get in the way of my performance
not that im pro, but i dont want to die and be "well if this hardware was better it wouldnt have done this and kill me"
I can understand you. Well, I have always rather cared about the crude performance. If you want to have some beautiful-looking hardware you have to pay too much extra in my opinion
i really only care if my min fps is a problem on 4c8t but i cant find any reason it is, i never feel slowdowns really
However I think my PC looks good because I know everything about the hardware I have installed and all the work that has gone into my rig. That's why I think my PC is beautiful at least for me it is 😄
this new meshify is hot sex
i mean compared to my full tower enclosed metal case of doom
Fractal produces some good cases. I have got the Define R5 and I am contented with it
Also we probably all have Nvidia cards and Intel CPUs I bet 😃
lol well thats like 70% of people xD
im probably going ryzen next year though
ill start streaming if i dont drop frames
i started streaming but on my 4c8t cpu i dropped too many frames
Well I thought about Vega but back then it was too expensive for its performance and also it needs a lot of power. And since I already had a G-Sync monitor the decision was easy
I only game on my rig my internet would be too bad for streaming
as of now nvidia is really the obvious choice for gpu
no, but i bought gsync knowing at high end nvidia is where its at
i plan on keeping this Dell for 6+ years so i wont be moving off nvidia any time soon even if amd came around to match perf for cheaper
however I always say that a good freesync monitor is pretty much the same in price. Of course you can get a cheap one but then it probably has a freesync-range between 40-50 fps or such jokes. If you want a good one with a wide freesync-range that is located in a senseful area of the framerate-band you would also have to pay a lot 😃
amd shit, always with the caveats ;D
the stupid gaming/creator mode or things for the 2700x are enough to make me just ignore it
just put something out that works great always, i dont want to have to think
Isn't that gaming mode rather meant for Threadripper CPUs?
Well I have already thought about a Ryzen however it would not make sense for me. It is just because I would really like to test all hardware 😄
I think if money was not an issue for me then I would probably buy every piece of new hardware just to test and configurate systems for fun.
i thought about a 2600 to hold me over til 7nm but i didnt like the reviews of amd motherboards
and i bet it would have worse perf than my 3770k
Steam survey doesnt seem to keep actual processors
just shows 83.46% Intel
16.52% AMD 😛
who are these witchcraft .02%
offbrand chinese silicon squares
id like to know who will get hit by tariffs
ram, cpu, mobo makers
if Kraft foods stock shoots up like $5 itll pay for half my upgrade and then sell my current setup for $300, good to go!
When is 7mm supposed to come out btw? 2019 right?
i wish
@unborn epoch hallow knight?!
Really wanna upgrade but I dont if 7mm is coming out soon
Bfv and a blowie for me
alrighty hallow knight goes up for grabs
whats the difference between 4c8t and 6c6t for processing something like Frostbite's engine?
looks like multi-threaded perf on 6c6t blows away 4c8t
just in general for handling operations
HT doesnt equal 1 physical core by any shot
its relatively close but when comparing 4c8t to 6c6t i think the difference is substantial to consider on my end.. im looking at the i5 8400 benchmarks right now to try to understand my cpus perf compared to 8700k etc
oh no, i always thought of them as like 15% of an actual core
the i5 8400 is a 4ghz 6c6t vs my 3.9ghz 4c8t
so if i consider them even equals and then go look at 1440p performance, the 8400 min frames does suffer in 1440p in many scenarios
does it seem wrong to use that as a baseline to try to see where my cpu is?
min frames?
the 8400
like you said its almost impossible to find 3770k vs 8700k etc or piece together the puzzle
so im trying to find a newer cpu that would be more in line with mine
if anything, im seeing the i5 8400 would be an upgrade
it should be an upgrade, but not worth the price of a mb, cpu, and ram
actually base freq, whats that?
vs max turbo
the 8400 vs 8600k base freq max turbo is 2.8-4 vs 3.6-4.3
only 300mhz on boost but 800mhz "base freq"
so i was only comparing high end freq.. but 8600k well outperforms 8400
im not entirely sure, if i had to guess its like how much freq you can get with this much power, but you CAN get this much but it will draw much more power
my 3770k is 3.5-3.9 so really tight
that 8400 is odd..
throws down mental notepad not getting anywhere again
bet my 3770k is closer to an 8600k in perf then
bang for buck intel cpu right there
fk bang! gimmie ze perf! lol
9900k
ok well thats actually crazy cause 9700k meets or beats it for gaming ;D
i assume it has higher base freq
9700k was supposed to be 8700k price, supply is being hogshanked and creating inflation of price
8c8t vs 6c12t is a toughy but i think the 8c8t would still win out in threaded ops
for gaming i would think that a 6c with highest freq would be best
broad generalizing
but generally true yea
thats why i was considering 9700k for more future proofing
the way i see it, socket 1151 is prob dead after this gen so there will be no upgrade path at all
9900k is the last stone and it was a dud
9700k runs quite cool though
their new soldering method
i see it performing like the 3770k.. beast mode for 6 years+
yea, i would wager like 10% per thread for HT, some guy ran some good tests
4c4t vs 4c8t saw 40% or so
i think since 3770k (other than aMD FX CPUS) most cpus are gonna last a long time
esp as we keep pushing graphics and keep FPS under 144
theres really no reason at all to ever go higher
i want to try 200+ hz though, see if i can tell a difference
165?
ive tried 165
haha yea i mean, we prob never thought > 60 was necessary at some point 😄
ive got a nice asus 1440p 27 and the dell and i did windowed full screen and slung it over to the Asus today on BF1
60hz
it was horrific
yea its weird
i wish everyone knew what gsync 144hz felt like
i hate when i drop under 100fps in a game and im like "eww what are my fps"
wait no, i need more people to shoot on 60hz
i dont exactly feel that or i miss it
but i have the 2070 so i may have tighter FPS
someone on a 1080Ti didnt seem to have substantially better min fps over me
just high
avg
which.. isnt necessarily a good thing
id take 80-120 vs 90-150 etc
i have fps counters on everything
14 days till FRAFS test!!
im gonna need someone on a 1080Ti to squad and follow exactly for 30s 😄
to record 30s of fraps fps same settings and then run it through FRAFS
this is very important life work!
they should build mobos with cpu on bottom of board so that any leaks would be at the front of the case or straight down not all over your GPU
with water coolin
or, they could make cases that turn it sideways
yea i guess i could flip my case on its head 😄
no top vent
but then the 2070 led wouldnt read right!!!
all mobo makers gotta change
for my front room build, i have my gpus fans facing the the two front instake fans
"Processor Base Frequency describes the rate at which the processor's transistors open and close. The processor base frequency is the operating point where TDP is defined. Frequency is measured in gigahertz (GHz), or billion cycles per second."
Max turbo frequency is the maximum single core frequency at which the processor is capable of operating using Intel® Turbo Boost Technology and, if present, Intel® Thermal Velocity Boost. Frequency is measured in gigahertz (GHz), or billion cycles per second.
ok so boost is useless when not 1 core?
i mean is severely degraded
"Boost is automatic.
That 4.7ghz max speed is single core turbo for if only a single core was stressed substantially.
Under gaming load with more than 4 cores stressed turbo is 4.3/4.4ghz generally."
feeeeeeeeeeeeek
does it scale? say only 2 cores are being used, does it "split" the max between the two?
Will be around this for me next year
Will see what’s new around
But that’s what I plan to buy
1050W
Are you crazy
Oof
my god
You will never need that
Wtf do you need 1050w for
god
I need more RAM & a new SSD, keyboard, & a 2nd monitor
Wew
I have like $500ish of upgrades left to do
Just going to get a cheap 1080p monitor for my 2nd one as well, idec if its 60hz, just something I can look at Discord on or Twitch chat, while playing
ram prices seem steady, but ssd prices are going to keep dropping
for a keeb i recommend GMMK, you can easily swap out switches if you want to
ugh i just sold my 970 to someone and he claims it wont post, 4k monitor.. i got no ideas
prob zapped it with electricity
meh works fine on a 1080p, no idea about 4k crap
should be plug and play
friends dont let friends buy 4k
Same cable?
My 970 does a funny thing with my new monitor and certain cables. It refuses to power on
@rose eagle
yea same
Try different dp cable
Did it work?
nope..
the old 760 does though no problem
dropped in 970.. nothin on screen
plug in crap 1080p monitor, works fine
windows drivers cant matter here surely
it should POST..
regardless of drivers
newp, pulled 970, put in 760.. boots fine, pulled back out.. put in 970, nothin
it does power on and spin fans and runs the lower res monitor but the 4k if you plug it in says no signal
not out of range or anything
dp
That's different from screen displaying nothing
wtf, if its on.. in windows, plug into 1080 and move the dport to 4k it stays on lol
but a reboot.. poof
Yes
R the auxillary power connected and do they have 2 plugs or just single? @rose eagle
the 970? its just a single 8 pin
The problem for me was the type of dp cable used
One comes with an extra wired pin. Those don't work straight away.
You have to unplug dp start pc and plug in dp
If above doesn't work, do give this a try, boot to BIOS and set display output as PCIE instead of AUTO @rose eagle
it does have extra pin
wtf is that
so it wasnt the act of booting to the crap monitor first
it was simply the act of moving it
or basically booting the whole pc first and then plugging it in..
Yes
so need a whole new DP cable and how the hlel you get the right one? lol
is that like an older dp cable or just weird?
What's the extra pin for 😮
I looked for one with the missing pin
I knew but forgot. I solved this issue 2 years ago
Weird display port, glad I'm on a 1 dollar hdmi😬
Walmart has displayport cables
I'd have to look it up
its weird the hdmi didnt work though?
Limited bandwidth
Also gsync
Does 970 even have 2.0 port?
HDMI cables can be confusing as they Normally don't label if they're 2.0 or under
Ports too
No idea. I only cared for dp
Just use DVI-D 😉
But muh gsync 144hz 1440p
You're pretty much stuck with DP for that
My monitor has HDMI and DP input but only the DP gets more than 60hz as its massive
Ya
yea i got hdmi to my 1440p 60hz now
no more dvi
this 2070 doesnt even have dvi
i was shocked the hdmi did 1440p
i could never get my 970 working with it
Ok the extra pin is power related
Reading wiki and searching the internet on my phone is hard
iirc my cable has 19 pins
The cable that causes problems had 20
Should be missing a pin on the side somewhere
Pin 20
There is a pin missing yes
giggity
Yep
😄
Do there if still room for a pin
Luckily otherwise you'd destroy the connector on gpu/ monitor side
this may be a lost cause
i never had issues with the 970 but no idea why a 4k monitor or diff monitor would cause issues
just dont understand why a 760 would work but 970 wont
Probably not respecting the standard
the asus card?
its prob the LG monitor
works fine on my Dell
i mean clearly its the monitor if dport works fine to a diff monitor?
the 4k monitor
Could be. Im not sure who is not respecting the standard
I also have yet to test the 20 pin cables with my 1080ti
But im lazy. It works
And beautifully so
@prime jasper stop, you're making me come
Finally the ISP managed to get their shit together, and the new connection is working. +35Mbit/s bump to speed, and 20ms shaved off from the ping to BF1 servers
Nothing a shoebox can't fix
What GPU are you running?
niiice
I'll have you on my team on nov9th
I'm hoping I get my 2080ti before the 9th
i didnt know there was an 860 m.2
can get a 500gb 860evo m.2 right now for $93 from newegg....
its double =/
almost
but honestly.. with this new case, m.2 died for me
nothing uses that speed, i just wanted for cosmetics
all my SSDs are on the back now
no drive bays is amazing, i got room for 1 more on the back so 250 + 500 + 500 would be perfect
i retired my 3.5 drive when i got my new case even though there's slots under the back to connect it
z390 is new right? almost too new?
mobos
theres 5 boards for z370 that are high sellers, so confusing
Kind of a retarded question bot how much does the motherboard affect the performance of my graphics card and cpu?
Cause i have some cheap shit and then a gtx1060 on it
not enough to care about
most are onboard features like m.2, wifi, usb ports
sli
overclockability
oh yea and raid
so basically nothing if you dont know what they are ;D
who the hell runs raid anymore lol
I know about thid stuff, except raid
before 10k drives SCSI was the only way to get higher end drive perf
This*
And it doesnt even support wifi, had ti buy an usb lol
well, most boards do not have on board wifi
anyone gaming should not be on wifi
😉
run that cable in the wall ye lazy bastage
It cant be done lol the house is 60 years old
it can always be done!
I tried everything but i settled for a range extender and an usb wifi card
Mainly because of budget
ethernet over power has gotten more stable, i bet better than wifi
What is ethernet over power
wow they got mu-mimo support now
ill remember this in 5 years for the kid
i also hate running ethernet
i almost lost the ability to have kids last time i was in the attic
Lol what happened
but i was also drinking and wearing flip flops, put foot through ceiling after slipping off a beam
put a 6-8in bruise on my inner thigh
almost racked myself

freesync work arounds using vega rx 56 on 144hz! P.S. in lithuanian language! full freesync tests done-the guy made his own device to get the actual results and proper latency.
Holy shit lol are you fine?
i dunno wtf he on, too excited for me 😄
I was asking if you're fine dude you feel through your attic hahahah
oh lol well, yea
i had a kid after that so
that was a fun patch job i had to do on the ceiling though
i have to go. but the test is to find the real latency of games using csgo as reference for precise inout lag, from the mouse button pressing to the actual action appearing on the pc screen happening. he promised test vsync with 60hz too. not just freesync input lag. one forum user asked to sell the testing device to him so he can do a gsync+nvidia gsync comparison
is there a freesync "issue" ? if theres a workaround
vsync input lag is horrific
i think most people are probably uneducated about what g/free sync does
he's planning to test that too
and how having a 144hz monitor helps input lag insanely
that's tested refering monitor only
he tests-refering to the separate device not include ;ag input while recording with a software etc.
theres a debate whether you should use g/free if your fps is over 144
on monitor you see the lag inout of the screen
due to the software which also increases it-so the test ain't fully accurate with results you posted.
now that i have 144hz id like to see if a 240hz does anything at all visually even at 140fps
i have side by side 60 and 144hz 1440p monitors and moving the game from one to the other is horrific, i bet 240hz isnt as big a jump from 144 though
count in mouse lag input on the real situations-the monitor's inout+ mouse/keyboard, network lag and you get exact number-software isn't accurate
there is video on thread recorded doing the action repeated at least 5times each to test it properly. also he uses his own built device for the test which is software free.
Isn't it exponentially harder to notice the frame rate when it gets higher?
yep.
yea
60 > 120 is very easy to notice, but since i only have 144hz i cant test 144 > 200
@rose eagle you see the result of inout lag of the screen
not the lag input you get from mouse sumed up.
i mean thats all that matters, if you can feel the difference
if you output im getting 5ms vs 10ms "double" but i cant feel it, one wouldnt care
there will be a point in technology where we can no l onger feel it
i mean we all know vsync is satan 😄
actual numbers of input lag using freesync. he plans get vsync results-user asked sell the device to make it gsync
so it'll be known for vsync vs freesync vs gsync
actually.. a ton of people do not realize what vsync is doing to input
not sponsored results
sure you remove tearing but at the huge cost of input latency
it's about "NUMBERS"
id sadly rather have some tearing occasionally if i didnt have gsync
this doesnt have nvidia's FastSync technology though
Yeah tbh I think gsync helped me immensely
yeh
it'll have
good deal
@lofty light https://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/8/ simply click through the images to see the diminishing returns of higher HZ
144 to 240 really isnt a huge diff

Tu man geriau, kol lauki, papasakok kaip tikrini monitoriaus latency? 😄
Laukiu, kad padarytum ir man parduotum jei kaina bus įkandama. Monitorių latency netestuojama, nes nėra su kuo. Akis testatorius yra :D"
oops this is fast sync
katonas asked him to sell the device
"
Laukiu, kad padarytum ir man parduotum jei kaina bus įkandama. Monitorių latency netestuojama, nes nėra su kuo. " -sell me please.
it used some recorder as elgato/shadowplay?
if he did-it still gives extra lag input, not fully accurate tbh.
@rose eagle i promise i'll post around the thread with next technology score tests. but no actual software influence.
no he actually tested with raw video capture and hardware attached to the mouse with a 1000fps camera 😄
$$$$
his smartphone became recording device-zero lag input
not for public use
with 280fps camera
yea this guy on blurbusters has some cash haha
the review isn't sponsored, so the results are completely fair-stipena is enthusiast
no idea how much 1000fps camera costs
but in fact, he still works in it industry, as a programmer
the thread s his own opportunity which wasn't paid.
i mean srslly
he wasnt paid at all
he receives nothing from this
and hardware cash comes from??
MINING?
he has solid job, on freetime mines, so as katonas
atm on his mining rig are 2x 470/480's. katonas mines on 1080s 3x if im correct.

m.2 SSD fight
lithuanian
includes synthetics tests
he was thinking about that but alot of reviews are coming from international sites
so made it lithuanian one-own reviews.
they still refers resharing news from western countries-phone's market, fines etc.
wait, gsync acts like vsync when over the monitor's refresh rate?
sponsored by gearvest, edifie r, ebyeer etc
"partneriai" means partners-the companies sponsors them
they often receive gear from them, also from noctua
yeh i understood.
but the results should be the point right?
don't you mine 24/7?
he does make a mining system while he's at work.
