there's a handy site that does calculations for you
we got a pool and that fkd the elec bill
sweet ill get all the neighbors to participate
free energy'
what if i put 2 quieter fans on the 212 evo vs the 82cfm one? like two 50 cfms
i guess one would blow in and one take off?
zip tie and split the PWM slot to 2
dual fan does work but doesn't have a great effect
actually i think this board has 2 cpu fan ports
get a better fan that delivers more pressure
i guess i can just throttle this fan to see what a 50 cfm would do..
or just clock down a little if you dont want your pc to be a firepit
adding a 2nd is more like +20% ?
less
that defeats the purpose of hanging onto this old 3770k beasty ๐
honestly the OC isnt even a huge temp raiser
100mhz wont affect you much but will take down temperature by a shitton
the bitch ran like 70c stock cooler non OC
"daddy come on ihave a surprise for you"
afk 20 minutes kicking kids ass
lol
good ole 1440p gaming, when an 8600k can hang on 100% with a 9900K
as we get towards cpu's not mattering anymore, i need to see min fps results.. seeing a huge list of 40 CPUs all within 10% doesnt help
Minimum, average, 98%, frame times, etc. for comparisons
@unborn epoch consoles actually help the industry by having an easily accessible product into the market
@rose eagle
Fun fact
CPU load changes with framerate (and a little bit on settings, but not really) and less of resolution
Driving 1080p 144fps is around the same load as 4k 144fps for a CPU
Sure if you are okay with going from 1080p 144h to 4k 60hz, then CPUs don't matter
we need more power hungry games
more physics d000d
more ai d000d
let our hardware swear for a change besides wanting it to be ablet oplay games and encode 16k video
sweat*
games sure as hell don't
Or set up cascade cooling and run it daily to overclock to the silicon limit
Dude
CPU has everything to do with maximum framerate
It provides your GPU with what to render, if it cant keep up your framerate shits itself
pretty sure its the other way around
gpu can't handle high frames, less cpu load
my 7700k goes up to 50% at 200 fps in bf1
put those other 50% to use by introducing whatever, nakes girls
i dont care
Uh no
Then your GPU ends up pegged at 100% while your CPU is fine
It's how playing at 4k right now is (on a non 2080ti)
But if you go to 1080p. Then your CPU is pinned at 100% while GPU isn't
Your 7700k is at 50% because hyperthreading optimization generally doesn't exist for games
So it'll pin the 4 physical cores and let the 4 'virtual cores' do nothing.
Now hyper threading really just splits a physical core and forces it to do more work instead of adding more threads
What
PC 'master race' has Intel and Nvidia bending consumers backwards for profit since no competition in some markets.
While console has to remain competitive to stay relevant
i'd agree when talking about nvidia at the moment
but really, not even nvidia's fault.
amd is to blame here, or intel for not entering the gpu market
selling shit hardware for cheap, so good
What
AMD has good budget GPUs. They don't have the budget to do everything from CPUs to GPUs
Its nvidia's fault for caring more about money than innovative
Pascal was priced the same as Maxwell (generally) yet there was no competition
And had huge performance gains
Shit reasoning. Tell that to ati when they released the 9700pro
Hire higher skilled architects stop with the budget mindset
RTX was a huge R&D change and much more into it than just squeezing more out of a smaller chip
do we need it? prob not, prob too early, niche target
Bf v and ryzen 7 2700x: pls give me ur opinion
I have that CPU & a GTX1070ti, 100fps here & there, but dips were real
although there'll be more optimization after the game releases
I have i5 4690k at 4.2 ghz with 1060 and this was hard already
I thinl 1060 is totally enough
But my cpu is :/
Mh
tbh it shouldn't be a bottleneck on a 1060
if u had like a 1080 then maybe
but imo pretty on par
But i want tje ryzen 7 2700x and new ram, i have 8gb ddr3 now and want 16gb ddr 4
ah
yeah I wanna upgrade too (on a 4770k) but that means I need a new mobo & ram as well..
expensive :/
i mean my CPU is still good but i mean it could be better lol
Yeah i then i need a new mainboard aswell. And i eant a new case
xD
I wait for blackfriday
same here man
i'm probably gonna wait till black friday 2019 - this year I'm getting a new monitor
Im at ~580 โฌ rn
damn
Ah a new monitor
yeah maybe getting all that this black friday might not be worth it
if you're already negative
I NEED MORE MONEY
I could buy ot now but i mean the discount would be nice
If its like 50-80 euro
Thx dude
if you were going to buy a new cpu cooler and front 140mm fans why would you not just get a $120 AIO closed loop?
the noctua costs like $80 + $30 for front fans.. same cost?
vs big ass bulky heatsink
For actual performance?
I don't think 2070 will OC at all if cooler
Just not an oc'er so I'll leave this big ass Evo in here then ๐
It's got a factory oc of 90 + 125 I've got stable on it just with the EVGA tool and 800mhz on ram which is like a total of 8.7% bonus
just for noise alone
unless you buy a 9900k or something stupid, i dont think you need watercooling for cpu
custom loops look dope as hell though
and can be very quiet and perform amazingly
watercooling isn't necessarily noisy
unless i'm misunderstanding what u meant
and yeah, custom loops are sexy af, just expensive ๐ฆ
custom loops should be silent
since you have more room to put fans
at a much lower rpm = less noise
hm
but as in a watercooler (not custom) would not make any more noise than an air-cooler no?
bit air should be quieter then your average aio
now those big ass 360mm ones are different
That makes little sense I guess because the aio I'm looking at has two 140mm fans
And you mount it in the front.. And I just installed 2 140mm fans in the front
So why would the aio be noisier? Same cost as noctua plus the front fans
aio pumps are often terrible
You wouldn't inhale water would you?
Great minds think alike
the beast through my new see through window is just massive ๐
if i were starting a brand new build i was just curious
if you were going to spend $120 on 2 front case fans and the noctua cpu cooler vs $120 on an AIO that looks 10x sexier..
im still not seeing the argument against aio ๐
i just told you
aio pumps are often noisy
but if you got a kid screaming in your ear all the time I guess sound doesn't really matter.
well shit thats not having any impact
its def a 4 pin fan plugged into the only 4 pin cpu fan port
nah theres just this weird cryptic "Target Temp" "Target Speed" 1-9
so i set it to 50c and 4 and now it's like 1500rpm vs 2080 idle
what should you cpu fan be while idle?
1500rpm is still like 30db
my case fans are all 19-20db
so this cpu fan is a bamboozle
180-250
id have to knock it down to 1000rpm
Depending on quality of the fan
250 rpm??
Sure
it does 600-2000 looks
Scam
so i need ti change the bios to make it bottom out somehow..
i think it goes full tilt at the target temp mark..
im very fkin confused at this bios
ah i used to have a 212 evo
Idk man
just buy a new fan for it - buy a silent edition or something. The one it comes with by default is a solid fan but kinda noisy yah
Download speedfan
ok i got it
just taking 200 reboots
down to 1000rpm, its pretty silent now
one more attempt!
i dont mind the full load noise.. usually too involved in whatever im doing to notice
but sitting here just working normally is annoying
wew 800rpm
ok thats not working as intended... occt is burning cpu and its staying at 800rpm ๐
ah no there she goes, 1100rpm
welp thats enough a victory for the night
@steep gust "Driving 1080p 144fps is around the same load as 4k 144fps for a CPU" I mean yes the problem is the video card required to drive 4k isnt available yet for 144fps so "right now" theres no point upgrading say even a Gen 1 i7 if that's your goal.
some day when we can drive 144fps 4k then im sure we will need a CPU that has yet to exist ;D
that's a thicc database server
buy scythe slip stream 120-140mm 2k rpm fans. noisy but hella of a perf. nearly identical to noctua ppc-3000's.
buy delta fans, noisy but hella performance

buy maglev fans, expensive but hella of a performance
wot's noise btw
- Maglev user
๐ ๐
i like these sexy Orange and black Cougar brand fans @storm osprey suggested ;D
the Corsair RGB 120mm dont have very good tech specs..
i guess most 120s dont compare to 140s
cougar vortex fans, a hidden treasure imo
people just buy corsair, noctua, or cooler master all the time
cougar makes some good stuff, some things are pretty meh though
thermaltake!
yea even thermaltake is ahead of cougar
and i think cougar is as good as corsair, and a budget noctua
Main reason people really like Corsair is there aesthetic.
im a slight risk taker
ill get the 2nd or 3rd recommended thing
basically ill get anything over corsair
well, i guess im bipolar in risk taking.. normally 100% risk averse but when im pushed then ill choose tech over used ๐
cause i had a 970 and did the most risky as fk thing and bought a 2070
and have BSOD'd daily due to it lol
cant think of why anything else would be
def started on 2070 install
havent done a full driver wipe with guru3d yet
hmm thats super weird
is it? yea ok i guess if its not normal i should try to figure it out
i mean, gpus are pretty compatible, and i havent heard of adding one that gives bsod
Well if I were you I'd try to figure out the issue quick, cause usually if its defective u can get a direct exchange through the retailer within 30 days of purchase rather than an RMA (which usually takes longer). So then less downtime
i know, i formatted the night before.. nub
i would def have to reformat before determining anything ๐
not in the mood again atm
the only other thing that changed is im using dport + hdmi to my 2nd monitor instead of dport + dvi-d
since the 2070 has no dvi
buttload of nvlddmkm errors
ya just format
everyone on 1803 w10?
idk what im on
oh right
im assuming 17134.345
version 1803
yarp..
installed on 10/29/2018
it BSODs while just sitting in windows
๐
ya
cant wait for my aliaz mech switches
hmm how new is iCue from Corsair.. i dont recall having this before my reformat
just some older named software for my k70 lux
and some corsair util is stopping unexpectedly constantly in my win10 reliability log
i just uninstalled icue 2 which i did not have before and installed the older Cue2 software
see what happens..
I had the same fucking issues with corsairs software, till i realized there was a newer version of the software which solved everything
lol the new iCue is possibly what caused all my problems
i went back to the basic Cue2
iCue solved everything for me.
i looked at my Reliability log in win10 and its just riddled with iCue stopped working shit
will see what happens through tomorrow evening
i bsod daily so far after reformatting my PC and putting in my 2070
i was blaming it of course
its just a ton of guids
Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Corsair\CORSAIR iCUE Software\Corsair.Service.exe
Faulting Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Corsair\CORSAIR iCUE Software\iCUE.exe

Am i able to run Battlefield V with i7 4790k + MSI GTX 980 TI at 1440p ultra with stable 60fps?
My current 3 years and a few months old rig specs
CPU: i7-4790k w/ Corsair H100i Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G
Ram: Gskill Ripjaws 1866Mhz 16GB (8GB x2)
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB x1, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB x1,
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB
Display: Acer Predator XB271HU
Optical Drive: Samsung DVD Drive
PSU: Seasonic X850 850W 80+ Gold PSU
CasE: Corsair Carbide Seriesยฎ Air 540 High Airflow ATX Cube Case
OS: Windows 10 Home - 64-bit - OEM
Well the game isn't out
So who knows really, but I don't think that will make it there on ultra
980ti is somewhat = 1070. I got 100fps on ultra 1080p in beta with1070 and i5 8400 6 core. 2400mhz ram. But you're on 1440p with lower freq ram . So I will only guess u will get around 60 fps.
@somber tendon ^
1440p is like at least a 30% hit
i have a 970 and got 50-80fps in beta
on mixed lower settings
hey guys would an i7 3rd gen would run well with bfv?
Should run fine depending on gpu
bfv ran 30% worse in beta than 1 for me but that should be curbed a bit by release
@zenith cave what resolution?
jesus christ
god i hate non modular
its fking crammed in there so tight, i barely got the back door shut
lol modular should help a lot with that
what is icue?
corsair's software for their devices
seems the new win10 hates it
i bet it's not widely known since only new users would realize to get it
the existing software doesnt upgrade to it
so i had an older version from 2 yrs ago when i got this kb and it was up to date.. but yea this new one is spamming errors and if that was the BSOD cause.. x_x
such shit timing with upgrading to a 2070 not knowing
lol wtf
that doesnt make sense though
the error you posted i googled it the other day and it was an nvidia driver problem
boo, is so sexy ๐
meh
lol i dont know the last time i got bbq sauce
but i always get a1
when i do get some
throws glass against wall
lol is a1 bad?
who the hell is making such crap steak you gotta put a1 on it
my dad
well then it should be great!
disgusting
oh i dont mind pink, but when you cut into his steak it literally pools blood at the cut spots
i mean, if it doesnt pool up blood sitting on your plate it belongs in the trash
lol thats just gross
does he use a1?
gas
poop
i live in oklahoma, we take our meat very seriously ๐
and grilling
yea a1 is like taboo, you know that "get a rope" salsa commercial they used to have?
we'd prob do that with a1 users here
Hey majicpanda, you were having issues with your 2070 right?
Ah
i uninstalled it and am waiting patiently for a BSOD
i live in az, so its not very meat focused i guess, im hispanic so its mostly mixed with soemthing else
Like I mean it talks about 2080ti but you're having similar issues
Assuming it's likely an issue with all the Turing cards
Turns out you're not the only one having issues..
yea those fkin 2080Ti run so damn hot
i mean i only BSOD
hopefully nothing wrong with the card
only
only bsod as if its nbd lol
this is actually just sitting in windows
BSOD
its a driver issue but i really think it's Corsair's fault
Huh
and/or the newest Win10 build + Corsair
Ah ok
i downgraded to the one i had before reformat yesterday
Yeah might be compatibility issue
and waiting
Since the cards new
all the reliability monitor stuff is gone, no more errors on the older sw
my event viewer was spamming with nvlddmkm errros
not all cause BSOD
but since i uninstaleld iCUE those are also gone
sooo...
Vlddkmkm?
"This error occurs when your computer thinks that you graphics card has stopped responding, mainly due to a low frame rate. The program that controls this is called "Timeout detection and recovery." The error is very vague, and doesn't correlate to one problem."
so, it's a bit coincidental that all those errors stopped when i uninstalled ICUE
dont ya think
im in IT, i dont take any error at face value ;P
most people would probably be slamming nvidia for this and RTX
buying the highest end of anything is poor
2070 was risky, but the top end is like they squeezed the most out of it
just like 9900K
f that cpu
it's like 900c
combine that with a 2080Ti's 900c
Best have some sick water cooling
9900k is fine at stock
Cooler than a 8600k or 8086k
It's when you overclock that it gets hot
Same with a 2080ti
Yeah which is just bad design imo
If you're buying the highest end presumably you're gonna wanna OC it
You're catering to the top 1% of the market with a 2080ti or 9900k so ofc they'll wanna oc the heck outta it
Anyone know any decent mobos that uses both DDR3/4 RAMs?
almost certain that wont exist
I know they exist, one of them from Biostar, can't tell which model
Don't know if there any brands with similar specifications
just googled it, apparently there is one by asrock
cant imagine its going to be decently priced
and not to mention that probably only works with the first cpus that started using ddr4
Don't want to spend more cash just replace my currently existing DDR3 RAM
for some DDR4 RAM, RAM is expensive as hell
whats your scenario?
Stuck w/ a mobo with 2 DDR3 8gb and 4gb RAM
Can't buy DDR4 RAM cause mobo accepts only DDR3, u know old model
so you want a better cpu but want to use your old ram?
Also old mobo can't accept 4th gen and above processor
pretty much and also invest in upgrading in a new processor, 3rd gen took a strain w/ bf1
i mean, i would think the price difference to get hardware that accepts your old ram would get pretty close to the price of new ram
i could be wrong, but i really dont see it being efficient
that would also mean buying a new mobo, which sucks
only got enough cash to buy one of those
Any Motherboards that Support DDR3 and DDR4 at same time?
No. There are some, for Skylake only, that support *either* DDR3 or DDR4 RAM. But, there's a huge catch: It has to be DDR3L RAM, meaning 1.35V RAM. It's overwhelmingly likely you have 1.5V or possibly 1.65V RAM. You can use 1.5V RAM until the time it fries your memory controller and you're buying a new CPU (Microsoft's not going to replace that).
dammit
whats your budget?
Around 10k Pesos ($187)
for everything?
Just the mobo and ddr4, I'll stick with my old processor
But i doubt it would be enough for those
old processor wont work with new mb and ram
typically intel doesnt support old gen cpus to new gen mbs
iirc only 9th gen cpus are backwards compatible with 8th gen mbs
otherwise intel doesnt support anything else
well it was worth a try, tnx anyways
imo just save up
might take a while, idk your income or whatever, but if you want it you will eventually get something good
intel JUST released their 9th gen stuff, so theres not much to wait on for a while until amd announced they next cpus early next yuear
yea im gonna stick w/ intel, they may be expensive but have a bit better perf than amd
honestly, if you put time into tuning amd, you will get the same/better performance than intel for cheaper
i'll think about it
i will probably go ryzen for my next build, but im waiting until ryzen releases their 7nm cpus
which should put them on par with intel out of the box
I have a Ryzen atm, its a pretty decent CPU
7nm Ryzen for sure going to use same motherboards as the current gens?
amd said that their current platform will be supported through 2020
you can get a full Ryzen 2600 build right now for like $420.. lol
while it might not be optimal though, it will work
so if i could just drop one of the 7nm in it next year...
DDR4 3000 probably isnt going anywhere any time soon right?
we're only using 2666
so all the intel and amd cpu's next year should still use it.. i guess worst case you lose the board and cpu
i imagine a 2600 would be a step down from my 3770k i7
im still curious what optimizations have occured in the last 6 years of CPUs
compared to what i got
even for game dev etc
i mean, for cpu tasks a modern cpu will destroy a 4rd gen intel
but gaming just leans heavily on the gpu, especially at higher resolution
Asus Strix B350 is only $110 heh
everything about AMD is cheaper.. y ๐
you'd think the boards would still be expensive
for gaming youre only looking at 5-10 fps more from your 3770k to 2600
if that at 1440p, possibly lower id think
i think the benchmarks i just looked at were all 1080p
yea, cpu is more a factor at 150+ fps
so yea for 1440p its probably the same to 5 fps more
yea sadly you really arent going to get a lot of comparisons to older cpus
whew.. $394 for 2600, cooler, mobo, and 16gb of the best corsair ram
thats just insane, lol
i wonder how they test the 3770k in a lot of these tests, would have thought at least moving to DDR4 from 3 would impact something
yea amd pricing is pretty competitive
i mean the MSI board everyone buys is only $75..
if youre on a budget, its hard to deny amd
i wouldnt call it a budget so much as pre-emptive buy while waiting for 7nm to drop in ๐
I bought the 2700x which came with the cooler, yes, but I only got 8GBs of RAM (misordered 8 instead of 16)
oof.. BFV is gonna want 16 for sure
woof, went big on mobo for amd
i do like ASRock
my 3770k board has been amazing since 2012
i would highly consider them again
$138 aint bad but i was looking at the $75 bargain bin ๐
theres no real perf changes of boards
i usually go with asus, gigabyte, or msi
long as it has an m.2 slot
m.2 overrated
smexy new case
it all up on the back of that, zero hdd bays
you get psu swapped out?
ahh gotcha
40m round trip.. boss been messaging me lol
i work from home but i still gotta be avail
they dont ship to your place?
i did ship to store to get it faster..
it would have only been to my house today had i not...........
lol ๐
yea now i get to make a 2nd trip 20m away
lame, glad i live 5 min away from best buy
but.. it was essentially free so..
i could get a 2600 setup free if i sold my current rig lol
doesnt seem right
got another $150 in best buy credits, ram is really coming down in price
$135 for 16gb
ram and ssd prices are dropping
got newegg promo right now for 500gb 860 evo for 80 bucks...
70 for ddr4?
jesus
black friday barely phases ram
looks like 20% tops
stupid PC components
someone needs to do a 2600 apples to apples 2070 comparison for me in FRAFS
ill say it again, someone spin up a lab that has a robot and puts computers together so someone can run benchmark tests ๐
just mount 1 of ea card to a wall
cpu might be a bit difficult to swap in and out mechanically lol
some engineer can figure it out
might go asrock next time, i have minor issues with my asus board
lol no you dont
I have a 2TB HDD and a 500GB 860
i only have 250 and 1tb, so i want another 500gb ssd just for gaming
I should get another SSD soon
but prices keep dropping
i thought maybe a 970 would help my unity dev compile time but im pretty sure its not even using my 850 evo
engine limitation
onlygood, just wait, its expected that prices are keep going to drop
I have like 116GBs left in this SSD, wew
i gotta keep my gaming drive pretty clean
i mean.. eventually ill need more than 500, so ill prob add an 860 500gb
steam can be on one and origin etc on another
steam is great anyway, can set up multiple install locs
this case can mount 3 SSDs easily, all you'd ever need
OS + Gaming + Gaming ๐
Yeah, I can add another SSD or HDD if I want, & I'll need another SSD soon..
Almost out of space on this SSD
I just use my HDD for junk

I need a new keyboard (thinking of the K55), 8GBs more RAM, a 2nd monitor, and another SSD
Wew
I have a couple of friends who have the K55 and they say its pretty silent
yea, its membrane
membrane are quiet, but feel like mushy poo imo
try a mech keyboard
I ran out of funds for it, went over budget for it actually
I'll be getting the last few things I need to complete it though here soon, the RAM, 2nd monitor, keyboard, & 2nd SSD
you can get a GMMK (keyboard that has modular switches, so you can change it)
get nice silent switches
and get custom keycaps
if you want
(im kind of a keyboard enthusiast)
computer all set up?!
yea minus like 5 massive cables shoved into the bottom, gg
i might get a new mouse pad for christmas and consider 1 white LED or something but right now im done spending monies
all tapped
steelseries for mouse pads
always the go to
and i like that the case you can just shove cables behind shroud and be fine lol
the steel series extended one looks ginormous
Can anyone help fix this issue?
It's been annoying me
https://i.gyazo.com/84e7b844b28ea69b635918d51feeca66.png
Basically when I partitioned my SSD part of the drive didn't go into the main partition - OS (C:), and was left unallocated for some reason. Is there a way I can allocate that space to the main partition?
^ That was a result of cloning my OS to my SSD from a smaller sized SSD btw
delete 474MB and try to extend OC
OS*
next time just format and reinstall
cloning is shit
^
im getting micro stuttering on desktop and while gaming any clues?
ive updated my drivers doesnt seem to help
@prime jasper I had the exact same issue from the exact same cause, ended up just backing up the OS normally and wiping
For some reason it wouldn't let me extend the unallocated
@prime jasper you got a 144hz + 60hz monitors by chance
yeah the mouse
Like if you walk forward in games no mouse does it happen?
the cursor stutters sometimes
mhm
Got a different mouse to confirm its the mouse
Hmm ill ask my brother tomorrow to lend
thanks for the help
@rose eagle the mouse sometimes when i restart pc activates the windows accerelation to enabled
Reformat
reformat?
Always
you like boys? better format your pc
Reformat something
~Samsung Rapid Mode
is it worth it and does it have any side effects like decreased lastivity of the ssd
That's not the one that adds a RAM disk right?
Anyone know of an AMD processor and graphics card that can run BFV?
I'm going for 2600 and a 1080. I hope it works
i like playing everything in 1p
sexy
1080p, cpu is more important, 2600 will suffer a bit
1440p you can get away with lesser CPU
@plain vessel how much are those?
Mine is going to be roughly 1450
$
hahaha
Nice
I tried to get everything white so that it could go with a lot of different colors
Tru
I might just get a white backplate
I just need an upgrade of the processor and graphics card
@languid acorn you care about 100fps or?
i think itll be fine 1440p, non ultra?
i play with the optimal settings of high textures, mesh but everything else off or low
doesnt look any different and provides best sight .. in bfront2 i got 130fps avg on my 2070
95 on the 1% low.. so im hoping BFV performs as well as BFront 2
Hell man. I'm fine with like 60 at all ultra, but I'll test yours out
i dont see why it wouldnt but who knows...
in BF1 ultra on 2070 i got 97 avg..
65 low 1%, unacceptable
you said 1080 tho, non Ti?
fuck yea i have black and orange build
white black orange master race!
Yeah. Non ti
also, they have white gpu. but usually are expensive
1080 shouldnt perform too much under 2070
Awesome
i want white ram sticks
first my brown mobo has to go ๐
back in 2012 no one cared about winders
@storm osprey I actually saw a white 1080 for 420(lol), but the sale ended
or i didnt..
aww lame
I forgot what it waas, but damn it was sexy
Nice
What is the best 1080?
white and orange from gigabyte
Sexy, but too high in price. Price range for the gpus is around 400-450
yea why buy a damn 1080 for $450 when a 2070 is $500
Right now I'm stuck in that phase of staring down parts, but not buying anything
as long as you get dual fan youre fine, in my order of gpu trust its evga>msi>asus>gigabyte
Ah okay
evga is probably the most popular by far
i got the factor small OC EVGA 2070 XC
yea single fan arent bad, but its usually a few dollars more to get dual fan
@languid acorn at this point might as well as plop the 500 bucks for a 2070
perf is slightly better than 1080
Yeh
anything cheaper for 1080 than 450 is probably brands or models i would advise against
yea i mean used 1080 maybe, but new right now makes zero sense
yea just looked at pcpartpicker, the cheapest gpu i would recommend was 460, so thats 40 bucks away from a 2070... id def get a 2070 instead
I've a tight budget man. I need all of this together before November 20th
Upgrading your drivers in older GPUs = Downgrading performance to pave way for newer GPUs
Just a fun fact
whats your total budget and what is it used for?
Are you looking for upgrade or new setup?
New setup
for EVERYTHING?
what about case, psu, and storage?
I've got to buy everything
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/w6HnMZ
That is just a place holder gpu. Still looking
yea you can definitely shuffly things around and get a 2070
gpu is the most important component for gaming
like 70% of your gaming performance is based on gpu
Yeah
so you have a headset and mouse?
Yeah
The only thing I'm worried about is windows 10
I know I can use it free until I can buy a key
How the hell? You wizard
wait... i didnt add monitor
The only thing I would change would be the case. Just to a white one.
Oh wait yeah. A monitor
oops
It's good man. Thank you
you dont want to skimp on ssd for your os
true true
also true
yea your build is slightly better than that monitor
depending on graphic settings
if you high everything, youll still probably get more than 60 fps
Eh it's all good right now. When i get good cash income then I will upgrade
@storm osprey Easy fix. Bump to Ultra
Black Friday should bring some amazing monitor deals
id just look real hard
they are the #1 PC component that gets slashed hard
you gonna be able to buy anything by then?
If I don't get a monitor now
Plus I still got to get bfv
damn this is hurting my wallet
so theres a 24" 1440p 144hz gsync monitor that i swear was 300 bucks a couple of days ago, its a dell
Ooo really?
i would recommend stretching for that or the 27" version for around 400 bucks
i lie, the 24" is 165hz or something like that
that's fine
i know its a stretch, but these monitors are absolutely fantastic
Yeah
i personally own one, i think @rose eagle does, and i have gotten like 5 people to get one as well
everyone loves it
I found it. 341$
24
oh yea, it should drop a lot more
i swear i saw it for 300 recently
the 27 goes on sale black fridays usually for 350
yea the 24 should be much cheaper on sale
2x a year
it dropped from 500 to 300. Do you think it'll go lower?
its never 500
the 27 for 350 would be your best bet
at least ive never seen it at that price
no idea what the 24 goes to
or what we're now talking about
no point buying 24 for 300 if 27 is 350 next month
Yeah
yea thats a ton of pixels on a 24
at like 2 feet away, you dont even notice pixels
its insane
(my best friend has the 24")
one of my older rigs thats still functioning perfectly : https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qvVQMZ
should I upgrade my GPU or just let it be for old times sake
btw, whats a good alternative to 2080?
AMD side
nothin
thats a literal answer, they dont have anything to answer against the 1080Ti
which is what the 2080 is perf wise
hmm cant wait to see what AMD has in their sleeve to counter 2080
i wouldnt hold my breath for a GPU counter, they still have havent quite figured it out after 20 years ๐
im guessing then Nvidia would dominate the GPU market and nobody would be able to stop them increasing the prices
:sigh:
so should I upgrade the 970 ?
i just sold my 970 for $110 on facebook marketplace
Maybe if I sell some organs I can get a better budget
"older" gaming system, while im running a 4th gen intel xD
and yea, amd is only barely competitive at the mid range
intel is supposed to join the gpu market in 2020 i believe
(intel has been taking a lot of "key" players from AMD's gpu sectors)
hmm, rosewill pc case is 20 dollars right now, looks like a decent 40 dollar case
yea bf is not the easiest to run
i have an i7 4790, 1080, and 16gb of ram, and in bf1 with everything low except textures, i get roughly 100-130 fps at 1440p
nice
hopefully 7nm ryzen is as cracked up as its supposed to be
and i wont have to upgrade cpu for a very long time after that
I really don't understand why people think PC is so much better
i dont understand why anyone would want a console so we're square ๐
you dont understand til you play 144hz 100+ fps with a mouse and kb
which wont hit consoles for a decade
if ever
You know it'll play any game that comes out on it
itll "play" it, at 30 or 60 fps
And if the game runs poorly, it's the developers fault
60fps is horrific
But yet, I still enjoy the game
absolutely
Because it's fun
i enjoyed COD on consoles 10 years ago
because i had buddies with consoles
its more a culture choice
you got buddies on ps4? you all own ps4s
i like pc because i get to dictate the experience i have with a game
im not told by the dev that this is what they want out of the game
i could give 2 shits about motion blur and HBOA, but devs want it in and now im playing a game at 30 fps because of it
on pc i can turn them off and get 60 fps
and even if devs are bad and dont optimize a game well, you can just throw a powerful pc at it and make it run fine
of course that costs money, but its an option, pc is about options
for me fps>graphics (i play mostly everything low)
Games like battlefield look absolutely beautiful on pc while kinda meh on console
Heck even on low still looks better than console
No downscaling
And much better frames but that's a given
But with an i7 and 1080 u only get 100fps on bf1 low?
console has its place, and you have the option for both, i have a ps4 pro and a pc with a gpu that costs more than my ps4 pro in total
True
i play at 1440p resolution
Ah
so twice as much pixels as 1080p
console owners push more hate on PC than ther other way around ๐
1440p > console 1080p
Even on low
True
I mean to each their own
Pc more expensive yes, but imo worth it
if a debate is brought up ill gladly slam my 144hz 100+ fps e-peen down
but i dont actively care
Same
i started console, i didnt have money for a pc, but ever since i started working i built a pc, and im never looking back
Once u go 144hz u cant go back
Once you look at the price tag, you never wanna look at it again
Man to me even gaming on my garbage staples laptop at 600x800 10fps back in the day it was better than console
Imo I find the pc community a lot more accepting
At least it was back in the day
Getting a little toxic now
"Little"
But back in the day everyone was super chill and we'd all laugh about my game being a slideshow lol
@jolly iron you could build a good pc off used parts that will easily beat an xbox
But they're still gonna be $200 more than an Xbox
no they wont
Eh depends on the person - I find pc people nowadays are either super toxic or not at all
Plus pc saves money on online access (free) and the massive sales (steam sales, humble bundle, etc.)
An average low-tier graphics card runs $200
So u kinda save in the long run
low tier new gpu from 10xx series is way better than the gpu in an xbox
Can also upgrade specific parts of your pc at a time rather than the entire thing
a standard xbox basically has a 750 ti in there, you can get that gpu for 50 bucks used easily
I don't think you understand exactly how shit prices are for me
now, that doesnt mean with a similar priced pc compared to a console youll get the same perf, because devs optimize console diligently
Only reason console does okay on crappy specs is cause super thin OS and games are optimized for the specific hardware (pc more difficult to optimize due to wide range of hardware)
Yah
Pc harder to optimize due to wide range of hardware
welp, youre screwed xD
And yeah I feel u man I'm in Canada too
i build budget pcs for friends all the time
Press F to pay respek
4k monitor with those specs?
Yeah, but I'm broke
This man lives on the edge
My specs don't make no sense
i mean, what fps does that get though?
My PC can run DS3 barely
I play CSGO in 4K just fine
Anything can run csgo tho
i built a pc that can run ds3 easily for about 300 bucks
But mostly FM and Ci๐ ฑ
Super optimized game
RIP Canadian dollar
lol that sucks
1440p?
Yeah
dell?
bleh
