perhaps she wants to see that wombraider some more
She gets like 60% faster heating performance
I don't know man.
They case thing will require some finesse for sure
Nothing is hot, this case may be the best thing ever lol
They don't make stuff like they used to π
I picked up that Thermaltake Core P3 TG open-frame, temps went WAY down combined with the Cooler Master Masterliquid 120.
And I can mount this sucker on the wall. π
Best find some serious studs but why the hell lol
is serious stud
@rose eagle Plan to mount it in the living room beneath the upper cabinetry to post directly to the television and move it out of the guest room. π
@rose eagle Going to install a HD60 Pro into it to grab video even when I am not streaming, that way I can edit through a workflow instead of relying on Twitch/Youtube to do it.
Got a lot of plans for this year.
π
that sounds like a very niche reason haha
projects,i wish i had some but i have a kid
@rose eagle LOL, I have two, but you've gotta find your outlet somewhere.
tell my wife that
i did buy a 65" Samsung tv and about $3000 worth of audio equip to have a better movie watching experience
but nothing "fun" to keep me busy
You should get your mid-life crisis mobile
Maybe a nice 911
Actually, not a 911
Get an aston martin
Yeah, buy a Ford.
Hmm?
Aston is an independent company these days.
Actually had their IPO not long ago.
"independent" π we know where they got their know-how from, and it sure wasn't ye ole Brittania
I mean, I'd rather drive an aston then a ford
So they did something right
Huh ford hasn't had owned aston since 2007
I'd want a car that's made to drive, not made to flash. That's the 911 (with the exception of the racing-type Astons--seen them do well at Sebring 12-hrs ALMS). π
I want a car that's made to drive, not made to race
Yeah, pretty much after the ball dropped on the economy.
hence why I want a big boat
Ford started to off-load ailing brands.
Like a mercedes s-class coupe
All the big-three did.
Still pissy about GM and Pontiac
Same.
Mercedes are pretty cool, but unless it's an AMG, they're getting more plastic-ish and they're notoriously unreliable... about as bad as old Lancia or Alfa Romeo.
Gorgeous designs all of them, horrible sustainment cost.
I mean, you don't buy a German car these days
You lease them
To unreliable to own
VW is an exception to this, and Audi to an extant as well
I've owned four Germans, three Audis and a VW. Never had an issue with them with the exception of coil packs and one TT had a transmission issue.
Though I wouldn't want to own a older one of either much past warranty period
Toyota, specifically Lexus, has my money now though.
I picked up an RC F a couple of years ago on trade from an IS 250 (70K miles and still got $14.5K for it) and it's been a great car.
I have a Mini Cooper S for running around town as well, but the RC F is what I stretch legs with on the road.
I want a 90's lexus real bad. One of the ones with the 1jz/2jz in them
You can get them relatively cheap these days.
I know
Pretty good condition, but high mileage.
I almost picked one up but passed on it to do...something
I forget what
I mean I'd be completely rebuilding the engine/trans so that wouldn't be a problem
haven't found any others on the old craigslist, though
Yeah, hard pickings there now that they shut down some sections of the site that drew a lot of the darker side of the Internet, LOL.
You know I'm pissed I missed out on that
Still plenty of other cool stuff on there I need to not buy
anyone ever had an issue on BF4 where it behaves as if you're constantly holding down left click?
menus/other games/windows works just fine
just replace my monitor
@worn charm Just random button lags like ''w/s/left click/right click , but always stops with click of the ''issued'' button
is there any tech expert here?
tbh i'm experienced with tech, but even i didn't manage to solve my problem myself
(general, not just battlefield)
any help is appreciatedπ
ask and you may receive, but not from me because I am busy working on a speech about video games and I should be sleeping
ok
my keyboard (bulit-in my laptop) sometimes doesn't work after boot. if i connect an external keyboard while it doesn't work, both of them immediately start working
@sharp gorge unbinding all my infantry joystick binds did it but I don't have a controller plugged in so it's strange
@left raven lets start with the OS, does it work if you use other OS other than the ones that is installed? And what OS are you using
windows 10
format
lol
What laptop do you have?
asus ultrabook a56c
format
because that problem is horrific
if i were at a user's machine at work i would completely pull it from production and give them a new machine
but since it's yours you're limited , took me 1 hour total to format my pc the other day and get all software reinstalled
the time to troubleshoot the issue probably takes longer
i dont see any drivers for that laptop that you could try to reinstall
i tried to
here's something to try next time it happens, right click Start and go to device manager (its one of the options) and go to keyboards and see if you can scan for hardware changes or see if there's any ! by the devices etc
or maybe force remove it and re-detect
ok so you removed the device entirely from dev manager
yes
damn windows 10
is this after a new win 10 update?
one just came out the last week or so, has it been happening for longer than that?
its end of life is in like 1 yr
98se > *
if you reformat you can do a 100% clean install of win10 with the latest version
feels good to do anyway
with Origin and Steam.. games just hook back up zero issues
i made a list of sw i needed to re-download, took no time at all
but as always, make sure you dont lose anything out of my documents or desktop or elsewhere ;D
but i don't use origin and steam π
i don't want to reformat though
because i would have windows 10 again
ahhhh super good deal on Fractal Design Mesh C today on Amazonnnnn
damnitttttttt
must.. justify.. to.. wife
but i also need a new psu to go to all this trouble x_x.. buying without would require a complete tear down again once i get a new PSU in December
do it do it do it
im talking to best buy right now to get a psu since i have $100 in points
having to price match
EVGA G3 850 is on sale for $100, pretty great deal
dont need 850 but its same damn price as 750 so
lol yea thats why i got an 850w as well, and you never know if you could use it, might as well as be safe
do you think pc gaming is becoming more expensive
im struggling with a gtx 1050 and i5 7400 to play bf1 on anything hgiher than low
and im worried how i will cope with bf5
i mean, 1050 is not a great graphics card
yes
what do you have
1080
it just feels like the graphics r getting
more more
but tech has to get expensive with it
1050<1050ti<1060 3gb<10606gb< 1070<1070 ti< 1080<1080 ti
oh yea
why are they so expensive
1060 6gb is basically the perfect 1080p gpu, 1070 starts getting into 1440p territory
nvidia basically doesnt have any competition, so they can kinda do what they want
i mean, my friends use 1080p 144hz monitors and they have 1070s
some one knnow how i can fix the dx device removed error from bf1?
1050<1050ti<1060 3gb<10606gb< 1070<1070 ti< 1080<2070<1080 ti<2080<2080Ti π
some one knnow how i can fix the dx device removed error from bf1?
you're on my screen twice
@balmy granite try doing a clean install of your gpu drivers
google it
google > waiting on humans
@prime jasper yea prices are not cheap, but imo worth it.
everything i do not work,i already reset my computer 3 times
we just discuss fun tech here, not tech support π
dont reset, download and clean install gpu drivers
reformat
i assume dx is direct x which should be gpu
@unborn epoch cmon i need backup
non Ti?
i wouldnt put much faith in it
yea it wont be very stable
you might get like 50 fps on low settings
bf1 with your set up is showing 50-70 fps
i play bf1 with no problems
so thats not as bad as i thought it would be. at the beginning of bfv you probably wont get that good of fps but they will optimize
imo i put everything low or off except textures
do you play bf1 or bf4
what u prefer
i never played bf4 but i hate bf1 right now it fels like an arcade game
i played both, dont play any right now
if i have to say i prefer bf4, but its been years since i played
bf1 imo is a clusterfuck
they put it on sale
for less than the older game
and made all dlc's free
literally 4 pounds to get the whole game
yea thats why i bought bf1
glad i only paid 10 dollars for everything (at the time the dlc wasnt free)
ya same i paid 9 pounds
what resolution and what size monitor are you using?
if youre 24" i would turn off anti aliasing, thats super taxing on fps
27" 1080p is pretty pixelated so i would use AA
ya
if you have problems with your pc and it took you already 15 minutes to find thep roblem
format
turtle face!
yoYoyYoyOyoO
welp, the deed is done... Fractal Design - Meshify C White incoming along with EVGA G3 850
i just moved all my movies to an external so i wont even need my 1tb drive or bays
just 2 SSDs mounted
modular power supply should hopefully remove excess cables dangling everywhere
i mean, it's like having a tube tv and moving to a 4k most likely
anything will look good? π
idk what case you had, i just know it had those purple bay locks or whatever they are called
this old case will be promptly thrown in my trash bin, it's not even worth keeping to build another PC in
oh lol havent been following eh?
my case is full ATX from circa 2000 ;P
all metal
with 15 yr old dust in it
is colour format (RGB) the same as
dispaly type
(LED)
or are they two dfferent things
rgb means red, green, blue. being the "primary colors" you can theoretically recreate any color. so if something says its rgb it means you can change the color to anything you want
led is the technology use to create the lights
ok thnaks
oh you know about the 24 inch dont use AA
i can tell a big difference by eye
but is it worth having off
yea you will be able to tell a difference
i check now about the fps difference
its smoothing edges, but i personally like sharper edges, and on a 1080p 24" monitor you shouldnt be getting any images that are THAT pixelated
its 23.6 does that matter
thats what she said
exactly
what about fxaa medium
i personally try to not use AA at all if i can help it
just smooths/blends pixels to make the image less sharp
at the cost of fps
it makes it look hairy
if jaggies REALLY both you then sure, go ahead and use it
i just try to have it off when i can
dude
is it normal
im in the uk
and i literally have never had a game
where ther ei sno mesage on the right
its always like
latency
ping
or some shit
but on every other game
i have zero problems
and i thought it would be due to so many players but on fortnite im fine also
so youre saying in game you always have the message saying you have high ping?
just depends the servers you are connecting to
if i connect to euro servers i get ping of 160+, if i get an american server im around 30-50
yea idk if i know how to explain it
the time it takes
sending and receiving packets of data is taking too long?
to go from ur side to the other
try connecting to servers in your region, youre probably getting connected to american servers
bfv beta was very good
i am now that my 2070 is runnin! π
here's some weird things... Bfront 2 ran worse on my 970 than BF1 which makes sense, but runs better than BF1 on my 2070
so i have renewed faith in the 2070 to run V on the newer frostbite
Well itβs gonna run it easily lol
i just got 94 fps avg in a map
47 1% time, absolute garbage
same map, 81 low, 135 avg now
im just running 30s benchmarks.. i wonder if you have to just let everything load for a full minute first to get into texture memory.. makes no sense
94 vs 135 average fps on same card same map is extreme
Battlefront 2?
video card has been physically removed from the system error, fun
i mean i havent played in over a year so now i dont know if these problems are due to 2070 or not
or if its my tiny overclock or just infant drivers
is bf1 horribly unoptimized?
feel like bfront 2 runs incredibly better
@storm osprey any suggestions for fans? it "can" take 1 120mm bot, 3x120 or 2x140 front, 2x 140 top, 1x 120 back
Yeah they're new ones are actually pretty good
@rose eagle depends budget and what you want
actually i more meant IF and hwo big
like 3x 120 OR 2x 140 front
i dont see a point in top fans, bottom could help but why suck air out if you're already blowing it up
eject the heat farther!! π
its already leaving the damn case
oh, i personally like how 3 120's look in the front
this is a family home so budget friendly but quiet
but i can see 2 140's looking nice as well
if you are going for bang for buck id get 2 140s
i mean it damn well better perform better than my full tower case from hell π
you want at least 1 exhaust fan though, just to take out the hot air
pulls it away from components
more fans pulling in cold air so you have positive pressure
will also help with dust
3 fans is optimal, each fan added after 3 fans only decreases temps by 1 degree
but adding fans do decrease the noise since each individual fan has to work less to move the same amount of air
BUT if youre gpus are anything like mine, the gpu is usually louder than anything else in my build
i use cougar fans, they are usually on sale and have a good airflow to noise ratio especially for the price
BF1 is pretty well optimized
the fact this case only has 1 rear slot is a bit eh
even my current has 2
"but adding fans do decrease the noise since each individual fan has to work less to move the same amount of air"
assuming you have something monitoring temps...?
i use hw monitor
but i have not done this testing myself, mostly watching videos
and i really doubt adding fans will decrease noise at a noticeable degree, but it does measure less
mobo temps?
or just monitor cpu tempo
i guess there could be an ambient probe in some cases
hw monitor measures temps for mob, cpu, hdd, and gpu
that make fans spin up or down
$$$
thats what i was referring to, somethign that throttles fan speeds til needed like a gpu
yea there are PWM (pulse width modulation) fans that change according to temp
they connect to your mobo 4 pin fan headers
4 pin is for pwm
you can buy 3 pin fans and they just push the same amount of air no matter what
sounds like i just need to get two 140mm fans for front, it comes with 2 120s
so i can put one in the back and one at bottom, then the 2 140s in front
sounds solid to start with
one at the bottom?
shrug, better than top pulling?
unless that case is different than mine, i dont think theres a spot for fans on the bottom
im almost certain they are saying 120 fan at bottom for the psu
ok nvm i see
i looked up a picture
thats where the HDD bay will go, so if you take that out you can put a fan there
but its kinda useless since you have a psu shroud
yea theres a mounting bracket right behind the cpu
i use a cd rom sometimes but i guess i can just hook it up ghetto when required π
oof $28 for Corsair 140mm white LEDs
be cool to have just plain white in the front of that dark mesh
i would get 2 pwm fans for the front, to regulate temperatures / noise
i guess i should see what my mobo supports
yea, imo i would fill as much pwm slots as your mb supports
just make sure you format
lol
new case and psu def a reformat!
i mean, i do have that driver problem possibility upgrading to a 2070 π
are there no 9700k BF1 benchmarks out yet from legit sites?
well that one is obvious
speaking.. this mousepad is also from ~2000
has tech come anywhere on them? =/
one day, my stuff will be old
i mean, im sure new pads technically track better but idk if anyone would be able to tell a difference
mine is a soft material
just put cloth mousepads in the washer from time to time
yea this has like, cracks in the material kinda worn
i body wash my pad
and some black specs
works best so far without damaging it
whats up with those full width ones under a keyboard
just nice never having to adjust it? lol
i have a deskpad, and ontop of it a normal steelseries one
O_o
deskpad is fine for normal windows stuff, but its kind of worn out now, so its soft and feels good against my hands
but i use steelseries for gaming
i just like big mouse pads, and they look cool
its nice to never have to adjust mousepad or bother about where your mouse is
ah man there is sexy white corsair ram
Hello BF community, I just wanted to know where I could get a second opinion about which GPU to buy for my current system. Are there any forums or places where I could get some opinions on this matter? Thanks
is this a place to mention such things? Sorry to sound like a complete noob
Framerate wise? When I had my old 1060, I got anywhere from 75-105 really, depending on whatβs going on (Ultra settings of course)
That was with a 5820k
1060 can get well over 60fps at 1080p
I have an i3-7100
With gtx 1050ti
I get around 30 fps 64player
High setting
1080p
A 1060 6GB would do much better
So I want to buy a new GPU after new years so that I can get the best deal possible and I'd like to get any recommendations on which GPU I should get. The CPU I have is the Ryzen 1600x (watercooled) with 16GB RAM at 2400Mhz. (can OC to 3200ish) and I play at 1080p 144hz.
Is my cpu fine tho
i3 is not recommended for bf
imo you want 4c8t or 6c minimum
1060 6gb for 1080p is the sweet spot
@graceful pond if you want to push 144hz i recommend a 1070
@storm osprey I've looked into it for a couple of months and the 1070ti seems like a fair GPU for my current system but I'm just worried if it can handle newer games in the near future
at 1080p the 1070ti is a VERY capable card
i use a 1080 (barely better than 1070ti) and i use it for 1440p gaming
Same here
i dont use ultra settings, but i get at least 100 fps in most games
ultra is a waste tbh
^
Yeah
i dont noticed the difference
id rather have frames
I was looking into upgrading to 1440p but its just a bit too costly the monitors and to pick either a new gpu or a monitor im gonna pick gpu
between the second highest setting in a game and the highest
High is basically identical
i low everything but textures and draw distance
are you allowed to send links in this?

Well this is the GPU I'd grab after the new year so that I could maybe save Β£100 or so https://www.scan.co.uk/products/msi-geforce-gtx-1070-ti-gaming-8gb-gddr5-vr-ready-graphics-card-2432-core-1607mhz-gpu-1683mhz-boost
prices on 10xx series of cards will probably only go up from here except for a few sales
since rtx cards are out
but this isnt a normal gpu cycle so theres no say for sure
wouldnt they be cheaper due to the new cards being released?
depends on supply and demand
1080 cards were cheaper a few months ago than they are now
the cheapest i saw a 1080 was 400$
the cheapest now is 430 for one i wouldnt recommend
Alright well thanks, I'm most likely going to grab the 1070ti after new years
people arent willing to jump to rtx so the 10xx will prob remain a friggin premium til stock is gone lol
my cpu temps are bouncing all over 69-75c every second, dont remember the sensor being that inaccurate before
during an OCCT burn the hell out of it test
Yeah, I have a 1070ti, I was so hyped for the 20XX series, I was going to get a 2070ti, but after seeing benchmarks & how its turned out, I'll be sticking with my 1070ti until the next series, like a lot of folks
@graceful pond From what I see, the prices have gone down a tiny bit, but nothing drastic, & it seems the majority of people are holding onto their 10XX cards as well, due to how things turned out with RTX
Wouldn't even be surprised if they started to rise again
When I grabbed my 1080ti, I got it for 660 shipped, which was like 150 or so cheaper than I had seen it for many months. About a week after that, it was next to impossible to find one in stock, or for anything less than 800
prices are so volatile its insane
Yeah, 660 is hardly what Id call cheap trust me, but considering how bad it was a few months ago, it seems like dirty cheap somehow. I got worried about the supply drying up and prices going back up so I said might as well bite the bullet now.
my friend who i did a build for got a 1070ti for 460, with a evga psu
Damn wtf, cheapest I see is $410, & a lot of places are still selling really high
Oh nvm
Thats sold out
@plain vessel i had seen a 1080 for 400 either through newegg deal or massdrop
i remember pcpartpicker wasnt showing the promotion so it had to be one of those two
Cheapest is a zotac for $420, for a 1070ti that I see, and Zotac is kinda.. Ehh, can't find anything on them
I only have 1080p, so I don't think a 1080ti would exactly do too much for me
144
I 100% need more RAM
I misordered my RAM by bookmarking the wrong page on Neweg.. Lul
Yeah, I was on VRChat last night, & went to open Chrome, & I got a message about being out of memory, lol
Yes
I don't plan on getting 32GBs
16gb is fine, unles you are opening everything in the world you shouldnt run into problems
I think so, if I recall, some guy in another server was doing 3x4 with a 2600, perhaps he was lying though, or perhaps I'm not remembering correctly

@plain vessel there was a one month
Window 1080 and ti were slashed in prices
Bhphoto had crazy deals but then RTX came out and everything shot back up lol
Black Friday will probably see $350 1070tis and $400 1080s, maybe even cheaper
I wouldn't even trade my 1070ti right now on the spot for a 2070 free of charge
1070ti and 1080 are practically the same on base clocks
And don't count on 2070 being good enough to do rtx but alas I own one anyway
Cause I wasn't going to pay $500 for a 1080
Or you could blow a lot of money & get the 2080ti
That's not approved by the wife
if you can, i recommend everyone wait for ryzen 7nm cpus to be announced
which is in a few months....
My bday is in March so they better deliver
I don't like the Creator and gaming mode bs though
Right now I am trying to find some DDR2 @ 1066Mhz (or possibly DDR3 @ 1333Mhz, but unknown as the specification page for the MB is a bit vague whether support exists).
What res?
I wonder how different that m.2 and the Samsung 860 Evo are
Hmm well, I got too much important shit I don't feel like migrating atm anyways, so I'll stick with my 860, plus I need more RAM & a new keyboard before that
970 Evo is fkin fast as hell, blows 860 away but the game engine can only work so fast
It doesn't help during play at all
i mean, look at it like this, for the average gaming consumer a ssd will load windows in roughly 20 seconds, if a ssd is x2 faster thats only 10 seconds, but youll pay up the ass for the x2 faster ssd
Also, only 750GB of storage? I already used that up, lol, at least get a HDD to store files in, etc.
Ahh, I have a 2TB HDD and a 500GB SSD
@storm osprey On the current build (4Ghz OC'd Q9650 w/ 8Gb/800Mhz dual-channel), I load W10 in about 20 seconds. π That's an old machine doing work!
if m.2 is roughly same price, its not using m.2 tech, and imo m.2 speeds are not worth it for consumer grade stuff
I went to check the stored amount on my HDD, and it stopped trying after about 157GBs
I know theres over half a TB there though
idk it just shits itself when I try and see how much data is there
The Samsung 860 EVO SSD in the build opened up a new world of speed on the box for sure. I'm tempted to swap in two more for the storage drives as archive and scratch disks.
SSDs are so cheap right now, why not?
Then I'll take those two REDs and setup a third NAS in the flat.
i keep wanting to get more ssd's but prices keep dropping im just waiting
The 970 Evo is literally 350% faster than 860 but battlefield won't load 3.5x faster
Limited by to many other things
860 does like 400MB/s if a game engine ever needs that during run we're screwed
So was 9700/9900 basically a paper launch? Everywhere just has coming soon
Sounds like it
Pooperlunch
Kinda like my 2080ti has been put on backorder twice now
Nice
Should I vlog my formatting adventures
those are still a thing?
my case goes to my right so i just realized how the hell am i gonna see the window since its on the right
it was gonna go horizontal with the front facing me but that wont work
Refurniture the house is the only option
I've got a really wide desk so mine is behind my monitors
ha.. nice, can adjust color of LED for 2070 based on temp
Oh noice! My lighting kit does that but not the card
Just seen a Vega 56 with 400% power overheard
Was that the GN one?
will it catch fire after 1 month of use? π
1080s are grossly overpriced, 1080Ti seems to be lower
450 for a used 1080 is the dumbest thing ever
^
i want to make a full custom waterloop for my gpu/cpu
my gpu gets a little noisy
7700k and 1080ti
in a h200i case
the 1080ti gets stupid loud yes
evga SC2 or some shit
twin fan
it's ok if I lower power consumption to 80% and change fancurve to only to up to 30%
it'll get 85c max
but i wont get full 1080ti power
it doesn't, but it OCs and gets hot and loud
also since i'm pushing games to 165
fps*
that'd be the best solution yeah
the h200i is only a mitx case
there's room for one 280rad i think
i have no idea, never built a watercooling loop
lul
hmm
EK has no block for the 1080ti sc2
oh well, i'll give full watercooling a try next build
it should be, it has 2x14cm intakes and 1x14cm outtake (cpu cooler)
waterblock would be way better though for the gpu
haha yeah
i can run cpu at 5ghz no problem
sits at 65~70c when playing BF1 depending on temperature outside
too bad the gpu is noisy ;c
ya im kind of anal about sound
i have another computer, which is smaller
https://i.imgur.com/Q8KOPaf.png this little beast
but it gets noisy when gaming, for obvious reasons
i wanted my pc to be as small as possible and as silent
but my next build is going to care less about size and more about noise
sadly swapping out case/fans/cooling solution is costly
i dont have the blocks
the block alone will cost me that
unless im going to make some ghettoass cpublock + a way to cool VRM
i rather do it properly
aio is possible i guess just for the GPU
I have room in the font of my case, cpu doesn't need watercooling
Well yeah unless you buy one of those overpriced hybrid cards
i'm in a weird position right now where i shouldn't
i bought a 1080ti for dirtcheap, can't really buy a 2080 or 1080ti hybrid now, makes no sense
ill deal with the noise, crank up the volume when gaming i guess
The 1080 will do you good for a while longer tbh
For sure
raytracing isn't a thing, game development lacks in that regard anyway (sadly)
i want all games to be path/raytraced. Maybe in 10 years.
VR 240fps, that's the dream man.
hopefully i wont be old and rusty by that time
Im not even personally interested in rtx
Much rather would save a buck and get 1080ti
Proper raytracing is something to be very excited about. It's just too new
So if you are looking to buy a card and the possibility is there to snag a 1080ti for cheap. Go that route
AMD pls man the fucc up and start competing in the high end sector again pls
Or Intel I don't care.
imagine man, real time raytracing at a rate of 240 times per second on a resolution of 4K or something.
the gpu market needs more competition
You does not need competition
amd is doing very wel on the gpu end, intel does nothing on the dedicated gpu market, let them try
we DO need competition, what are you on about
AMD is slacking, why do you think nvidia's cards are so stinking expensive now
All computers have Intel without computers or laptop would not been in a great graphic look
I don't understand what you mean. Can you please rephrase that?
You mean games?
Are you talking about intel's integrated graphics in their CPUs?
That does nothing for the high end market.
Or I'm not understanding you, in that case sorry.
the pro series is good for what it's made for, but it's no where near good for anything intensive :p
Without Gpus there would not be good
GPU would never been Removed unless if they want too
Of course. A dedicated chip has a lot more room for power instead of an integrated chip together with the CPU.
What I'm saying is. Intel should show up in the dedicated graphics market. They have the money to do so.
I'm not sure if it's worth investing from a business standpoint. But it would sure as hell be nice for us.
Because company wants π°
The entertainment industry is huge and with hype around AI/machine learning there's lots to gain for many markets including the gaming industry.
Right.
Nvidia should lose their monopoly position, either AMD comes back with a vengeance or Intel joins the party or better yet, both.
Same goes for the CPU market which AMD is luckily gaining some favors since Ryzen.
I'd take both any day
What's wrong with Nvidia.
Nothing, Nvidia as a monopoly is wrong.
Oof
Yeah, competition is always a good thing. Having a dominating force in a market is a bad idea
Nvidia's current business practices are all due to lack of competition.
They can because they deliver the best.
Pretty much
AMD imo dominates the mid range market, no exceptions. Nvidia has the high end on lock down with no foreseeable future when that will change.
Ya
but midrange is boring.
Of course it's a valuable market and definitely necessary but it should be used to fund progress.
which doesn't seem like the case now, unless there's a very hard limit of what's physically possible at he moment.
Money is what's limiting
They both could make some really good tech but they know people will always need bugmdget friendly stuff
And AMD is taking advantage of that
ASML is doing cool stuff atm where they make circuits work with just light.
I don't know the fine details, but there are technologies in the works which allow us to jump many times over in terms of performance.
i mean.. minimum 1080p 144hz should be mainstream by now. I know my 1440p is more enthusiast but to require a 1080Ti to get 144fps in BF1 seems a bit extreme.
I dont like that a 1060 is considered "mid range"
or is it? it's bare bones bottom barrel to me, 60fps low for BFV is like "low budget"
A 1060 fits mid range 1080 60+ is standard still for some reason
I've never had a gpu go out of date so quickly as my 970
that';s because you went to 1440p
back in the day buying the 970 "mid range" card meant you could play on high settings, not ultra but high
1080p runs along just fine at 1080p
144fps?
144hz should be standard rn
should
should be able to do 100+ on high
@unborn epoch are the fans loud or is it coil whine?
fans are loud
it has coilwhine but not too bad
i've never been a fan of watercooling because i haven't heard a high quality pump yet
i mean i forked $550 for a 2070 EVGA XC which is a small factory OC and it does BF1 ultra 1440p 99fps avg, 61 on the low 1%
this doesnt seem logical to me, the tech should be here to play 1440p ultra on a $500 card at 144fps
i personally dont want to eff with watercooling
^
watercooling still needs fans
Water-cooling is nice for aesthetics, that's why I use it
water cooling is for people who can afford to lose their entire rig
too much to worry about just to get it functional, let alone the gains imo are not worth the hassle/stress/risk
watercooling has huge benifits
@rose eagle Not necessarily
actually.. Noctua 15H beats a ton of water cooling setups
watercooling is able to directly remove heat from the components and let it dissipate in the heatsink far away from the hardware
you have to get not only a water cooling system but a good one to beat the noctua
Eh noctuas ugly asf
AIO for cpu, and just keep gpu stock
but yea its mainly all about aesthetics
Yeah
they have chromax full black fans now
i hate the browns
i just dont trust myself with watercooling
fan needs to come right off
id rather play safe
@unborn epoch looks like upgrading fans then lol
last i checked the noctua black fans were expensive as fuck
check that devil
even more expensive than noctua in general
Yeah I saw it looks nice, huge as cooler
in the near future noctua is even going to release black painted heatsinks
at least when i looked thats when they were announced
lol, who needs to worry about cable management when you cover absolutely everything
and yes, my cpu cooler is pretty much 85% the size of my motherboard
noctua 15h is bigger than my 212.. it wont fit in 011 Dynamic
it's silly ;p
Having baby puke colored fans on your PC is a status symbol!
neither the 212 evo or noctua fit in a lian li 011
https://i.imgur.com/Q8KOPaf.png i still rock old colored noctua fans
is that a h500 case?
ah damn
psu?

β€
dont let my wife see she'll get jealous if anyone knows anything about anything related to me besides her
lel
at this point i wonder who you spend more time with lol
Discord is your reality now
i mean.. the sad fact is we are only with our families like 6-10
she crashes right about 10 but i have to stay up, i cant go to bed that early
yea as of right now i hardly see my girl
i need someone to log into a BF server exact same map and follow around and run fraps FPS test
and even when she is home shes going to school to be a nurse, so its study when she is home
so we get an apples for apples comparison
Cheapest space heater on the market is the i9-9900k
tbh i havent' been in a relationship for over 2 years
lawl
whats everyones opinion on this pc: https://store.hp.com/us/en/mdp/hp-omen-x-900-gaming-desktop-pc-412003--1#tab=vao
i'm ok with it, need to focus on me anyway
my opinion is i dont fuck with pre built
Der8auer bagged on intel lately
2.6k for 7th gen i7 and a 1070?!
@prime jasper i have that dilemma with LED lightbulbs... save elec but that heat you gain during winter has to count for something π
way too expensive, the case looks cool i guess. Or at least unique
fuuuuck that
swap out all LED in winter for incandescent!
i was thinking of buying the case from my friend who had one, that then decided to build his own
it would be pretty cool to use
in my own build
the case is interesting, but i would hate the space it uses
nah
i want to put an arduino in my case and connect ledstrips and matrix displays to it
and let it do funky stuff
its a waste
you are just getting the case?
from a friend ye
ah, i mean, sure i might try it just to see
mainly because it looks cool
you could use that $1000 to go for a premium case, water cooling, lightning effects etc
but it'll be your baby, your project
it's not something you plop together in a week
yeah
lighting*
ill have a think
lightning is dangerous
my front room built in drawer pc is my baby
never know what i might want
i keep lightning in a bottle for special occasions
lightning in a butthole
disgusted, but interested
just shove a lightning rod in there and go to mid west for tornado season
tornado hunting, i like it
can we call this cornhole twister
never, always
sir, no one has one sorry
it can has usb 3.1 is only diff
next
π
ermagerd built in wifi WTF lol
yeh man 390 is uncharted lol
lols
those 7 questions are really the key diffs
sli support, wifi, water cooling, usb
lighting
if no to all, basic is fine
mobo is like 2200 KnΓ€ckebrΓΆds
or say fk u Asus and get the ASRock Z370 Extreme4
how much is that one?
i fkin love my ASRock Z77 Extreme4 for my ancient 3770k
peasants
only boards ive had problems with is msi, but i seem to be minority
gpus evga or msi for me
(even though every evga gpu i have had has had coil whine while nothing else has)
make sure you see how many m.2 drive bays
wave of the future π
2 would be sweet ass candy
m.2 overrated for 99% of consumers imo
no fkin drives, aesthetics!!!!!!!
and they're down to $150 for a 970 evo
500gb
so fkin cheap
yea and you can get sata 500gb for 80 bucks
and for consumers, you wont even be able to tell the differnce
sure, double
but it takes no cables!!
π
this was before i got my new case comin tho with rear mountable
ive never been able to rear mount anything
im about performance, and i would get sata over m.2 any day for the price difference
they only take it right in the bolted on holes
i got a budget and even if i hit the lottery it would be hard for me to justify m.2 over sata
oh cmon
if you got 1.6Billion from that recent lotto
that would be one fkin tricked to shit PC for life lol
i mean.. $5000 would basically buy you the most you'd ever need in a PC ever
im not about spending 2x more for 10% perf increase
it doesnt make sense to me
if anything i wouldnt even upgrade my house lol
but id drop 5 grand on my PC π
keep same cars
fk it, the 1.6 bil would just sit working for me
i mean fk man you'd earn more than 5k/mo off interest lol
cant take it with you
idk, im sure i would spend more than i would expect, but still, it doesnt add up to much
Lol
yea theres some bad ones
1 week on 1 week off
BF V woo woo!
haha im mainly just scheduling a ton of 4 day weekends
entire weeks off is harsh, got too much work
yea the m.2 for OS + programs for my development sounds awesome like you're doing and then an 860 for games
an engine can only load stuff so fast, i have never benchmarked BFV loading
or 1 rather, we know SSD >> 7200 for load times
but not sure if m.2 would be diminished returns
thatd be a beast gaming/streaming pc
m2 doesn't require cables
not optimal, no
that specific cpu cooler is good though
probably not the best, but i havent heard complaints about it
beating similar corsair rads?
9900k is beefy as hell
you doing other things than gaming?
isn't 9900k overkill?
it's your money of course
but if you are serious about streaming get a 2nd pc
Overkill is better than underkill
mmmm
if you aren't, use gpu
i could be wrong though, 8c with HT is insane amounts of cores
if you can separate it properly it might work fine
i haven't experimented with streaming too much
all i know is that my 7700k doesn't like it, i notice clear delay in things when gaming. But the 7700k is ancient and a baby compared to that 9900k
true, if streaming is priority a dedicated build is ideal, if you need/want 1 build and want the best, theres the 9900k
well if you want to stream CPU eating games I guess a single PC setup is not the way to go
(i dont stream so idk the budget for a dedicated streaming machine)
Single PC streaming is not possible with AAA games if you want CPU encoding
or not decent results
some games will work fine, but in shooters you will notice a delay
ryzen 2700x does fine, 9900x is good
I have an I7 7700 and I cant stream Games with CPU encoding with 1080p/60fps which is my way to stream
Well never tested it
this doesn't mean that windows does it all right by default
hence me saying, if you can force certain processes to certain cores it might work
you definitely don't want encoding and game running on the same core
im not watching 30 minutes of footage
all I can say; FPS doesn't mean shit.
solder is good, but theres better
however I know GN covers stuff thoroughly
yea i watched that one
you can get better performance, but for most its not worth it, and really only an option for people that are obsessive with their cpu performance
but the new stim or whatever its called is definitely better than the previous method (forget what thats called entirely)
if you want to go for normal streaming with good settings I guess i9-9900k can be really enough
but for Dual things I would say AMD is the way you should go
if you are planning on getting DUAL Streaming system then Intel β€
I stream with NVEC (GPU encoding) with very decent results
plus my games are running smooth most of the time
CPU i7-7700 and GPU is GTX 1070
i can't stream games like BF 1 with CPU encoding
@strong breach yep
60
I can demonstrate the power
Dont have anything to do
@strong breach BF3?
tbh, your stream will look shit anyway because i ebvlieve only partners get decent reencoding
https://www.twitch.tv/rephii here ya go
also why 1080p? just stream 720p
like any normal streamer
are you partnered?
nice transition on that stream
teach me your ways
at 720p you can get better imagequality with same framerate
stream looks good though
yours?
link me it, im watching rephii atm
oh right
Snutten drops fps (not frames)
just noticeable fps
aight ill check it out
framerate drops seem to be gone
but do you actually play at 60fps?
alright
i gotta try streaming again sometime
ya i'll set it up tomorrow
you look like a mix between f0rest and friberg
you
π
haha good stuff
it's definitely watchable
im getting ea premiere and buying the game during the first month of release somewhere
november 9 here i come
lul get cucked
@winged tapir your stream seemed nice the way you had the transitions going
teach me your ways
is it just a video you are playing
made it with After Effects
my benchmarks are on par with other 1440p BF1 tests with 2070
which kinda makes me super sad, i really want to upgrade my 3770k π
wait panda, just wait
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
you dont neeeeed it
my rig will just depreciate!
you waaaant it
the only thing holding me back is i know both amd and intel cpu's next year will most likely be new boards, possibly even ram?
amd is supporting the am4 platform till 2020
i dont see how the new amd cpu's will destroy a 9700k tho
o well.. nothing amd has up is worth grabbing i dont think
thats one of their selling points, they plan on supporting shit unlike intel, they drop support basically for every new cpu
