i use a RME400 firewire soundcard as well as 2x Genelec 8030 + 2x Yamaha HS50 + Subwoofer so far
AND i want to run headphones and the RME400 same time. same sound on both devices. i could achieve that with voicemeeter i recently learned
so i know basically nothing when it comes to speakers, so all that is over my head
its studio equipment to produce stereo audio
imo the best bang for buck gaming audio combo is soundblaster z sound card (has surround sound software), and an audio technica ath ad 700x headphone
get a stand alone mic like mod mic or fifine 669
even better
quick guide on a guy thats into audio thats tested a bunch of headphones
ive tried a lot of the popular headphones for gaming, so far 700x is my favorite
okay so my x299 ftw K board from EVGA got
Audio β 7.1 Channel High Definition Audio + Optical
sweet thread thanks bro
depending on headphones its fine
you mean regarding the surround software?
the main point is the software, but you can get razers free software, though i hear its not great
ahh okay got it
soundlbaster comes with a decent dac ( a lot of people will say a dac is a dac)
the amp is pretty lackluster, but if you get something like the 700x it doesnt need an amp at all really
people will say that soundcards are bad too because they are in the case by a lot of circuits and that will cause interference, but i havent noticed any
and for comparison i have a schiit stack that i have tried side by side to my sound card
(schiit stack is one of the most recommended budget amp/dacs out there)
@hushed geyser this is kind of where you have to help us figure what you want. is this PURELY for gaming, or do you want to listen to music and games as well? whats more important? etc
GAMING only
i hate wearing headphones to listen to music
- i got these 1800 studio speakers in total with a 900 bucks soundcard
imo getting an external dac/amp for just gaming is kind of a waste
if thats what you want (thats what i built my system around) then i suggest soundblaster z and 700x
everything else i have tried doesnt give me the confidence in positional audio as this set up has
I'm also noticed that the motherboard audio is fine
So you don't need a sound card for most use cases
you can try onboard, i hear they get better, and as long as your not getting headphones that are hard to drive, it should be fine
so no special blingbling something functions. it says only 7.1 + optical
like i said, i got the sound blaster z because it has good surround sound software
the knob?
yeah ;D:
i wouldnt
good
60 bucks warehouse deal
without knobbo
ill try your way
@storm osprey
yeah i looked for competitors and similars
and found that one. it looks like same. but black xD. the red will destroy my all black/dark optic
lol
i took the shield off on mine and painted mine orange
could paint it black, its like 4 easy screws
i mean, i always recommend doing research and coming to your own conclusions. this is what i ended up on for competitive gaming and i dont regret it one bit.
i do hours of research before any purchase, maybe even days. just depends.
i really, REALLY dislike creative products, since they didnt provide drivers for some audiocards back in the day whey moving to windows 7
i havent had problems, and we are on windows 10 from here on out so π€·
my point is, i spend 250 euro on a new audiocard and 2 month later, windows 7 got released and creative didnt provide any drivers, they pushed the following productline so hard that they didnt support the old one
and btw windows 10, my hp a4 runs with pre 1803 windows update
the moment i install 1803 the usb dac stops wokring
@hushed geyser https://www.head-fi.org/threads/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-6-20-2018-pad-swapping-section-dekoni-audio-pads-added.534479/ something to read
conspiracy theory, BF1 was slowly unoptimized for 970gtx to make you think you need to upgrade to newer nvidia card and they're in bed together
that or i have to reformat my PC before BF:V
wtf happened to 10xx prices?
had an eye on a 1070ti $420 and it is $550 today
trade war crap? thanks Trump!
a friend of mine bought a brand new gtx 1070ti for 410 USD
@rose eagle No?
Lot of companies sold off large chunks of stock
and so pricing are going back up since they no longer have a surplus
this card isnt worth a dime over $399
guess ill be playing BF:V with my 970 and saying fk u to GPU companies
glad my 1440p 144hz monitor will be shrugging at me as i get shit fps
thats very odd.. seeing as a 1080 is the same if not cheaper
oh well i still have to sit on my thumbs til something is more around $350 just for principal
You realize the 1070ti MSRP is like $435?
So anything below that is companies cutting into profit margins to sell inventory
amazon is fubar today
yeh ok everyone went up
oh well, wont bother looking into why
evga website is only 460 so best buy and amazon and newegg being $550 = ok.. lol
im wondering if 1070ti will ever be $350 or if all stock will just be dried up and never avail again
but im not paying more so..
970 is only 2 yrs old, shortest lived vid card ive ever owned
before a game has made it bad
well only 2 yrs old to me π
Pascal will be made into 2019
and the 970 isn't a 1440p card
So that is your issue
I would expect when the RTX 2070 releases that the 1070/1070ti drops in price again
Although I'd recommend a 1080 for 1440p
The faster memory helps a lot and it isn't much more expensive
970 was plenty a 1440p depending on the game, it ran BF1 fine
meaning i dont mind playing a lot of settings on low
but even 100% all low settings in BF5 drops below 60fps too much which is unplayable
and 1080p of course looks horrific
please re-read all edited messages in full π
i only edited it 4x

I'm still glad I managed to get a 1080ti for $670 at launch
Well, not launch
It was a couple months after
still
Got it for like the same price as I got my 1080
might invest in a RTX 1070 whenever that is available
hoping it performs better than my current GTX 1070
RTX 2080 performs very similar to a 1080ti
apparently around 600 USD for custom PCB ones
decent price
got my 1070 for around that
Find someone to buy you parts in America and you pay the shipping
Dunno it should still end up cheaper depending on the part
just ordered a 1070 ti for $473 after tax
mainly because https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOxz5Tc-YRs
We interviewed several PC component manufacturers about the impact of the new US tariffs on PC component prices, including both on- and off-record statements...
Yeah I saw that, hope I can get a 2080ti before that hits
the big hits will be in Jan i think
if its like Oil we will "see it at the pump" like a month before tho π
That's what I'm thinking, they'll panic now and raise prices to make money now
ayyy, amazon said my gpu was expected october 19th but the shipping info says now arriving thursday

you nerds
did you guys know
i hacked my intel hd graphics
so now
they are 10x better than 2 2080 ti sli
i got 99999+ fps in the beta
ultra graphics 8k
so ehm
rekt nerds
π€

I just downloaded another 1TB of RAM
downloading is for fucking capitalist amercians
but bf1 will use it all and then say windows is low on memory
hacking is for true vodka drinking russians
EEEEEE cant wait.
That's pretty vague, no one knows what you're waiting for
I don't pay attention to this channel
trust no one with delivery info
we have had packages stolen in the area lately, ppl following UPS trucks
@quaint topaz Jesus, how many emotes have you stolen from our server? π

But a lot of words + emotes are the same as ours :P
I believe you, but it's very coincident π

some of the emojis are from Twitch.tv
they're globally used for reactions
probably why the same names
which server?
@fossil junco

Fanboy-ism is bad
Don't @ me
Why Asus
The Maximus X Formula looks great
The Maximus XI Formula looks monochrome in a bad way and flat

Discord is blocking the one picture of a motherboard since its explicit
I grabbed a EVGA 1080ti SC2 about a month ago for 660 shipped. Couldnt say no to that given prices a few months ago.
lemme know when a 1080ti is $400
just looked one up on Amazon
still bs prices, ill suffer with my 970 before i give these aholes more than $400 to power my 1440p
found another one for $860 still
yea the prices arent good atm
$550 for a 1070ti
they've been down to like 430
still not payin it
im starting to wonder if any card will ever be in my acceptable range
even if i wait til they're almost out of production
if a 2070 sells for 500 and outperforms a 1070ti, they have no choice but to clear stock
looks like newegg has an msi variant 1080ti for 650
ill let all the people with extra disposable income test BF V and then decide π
Good idea π
married with a 5 year old, got none
none to waste without 100% guarantee i know what im getting anyway
Yeah, I'd wait it out to see what others think
though, hard to tell what will happen with perf even first month
hopefully it'll be +-10% perf first month of release
RTX nonsense aside
EVGA has their step up program, pretty sure you can buy a 1070ti now and then get a 2070 within 90 days
i just want 120fps 1440p under $400 is that too much to ask? π
it SHOULDNT be
at some point vid card prices are going to cause actual sales problems for games if this keeps up
Not for consoles π
Pls kill me
when ps4 pro and xb1x were released I was really hopeful consoles would have a 60fps option in a lot of games going forward (i.e. a toggle between 4k30 and 1080p60)
and a few games did
but now it seems most are back to 30 and if there's a toggle, it just lowers the res without changing the framerate cap :(
props to forza for having that toggle though
(not that I play on consoles that much, but I would've loved to play Spider-Man in 60fps)
30fps isn't really enjoyable, true.
Afaik they are using the increased power of the pro but just for better grafics.
Same problem with destiny on consoles tbh
Can't stand 30fps in a shooter
Bfv i get 30fps with 4 1080 ti 2tb ram and i9 CPU that costs 12000 dollars
Dice
Pls optimizw
Optimize
Lol
π€
Who needs RGB ram when you have RGB slots?
mazal tov m8
ahh sweetcongratz to your machine
Noice π
the pacifier
yo anyone recommend a sfx psu?
@quaint topaz What specs?
i7-8700K
GTX 1070
16GB ddr4 3000mhz
Nice I have an 8700k too
Can't wait to try bf1 on it.
Just got mine
My 6600K gave me a really hard time playing BF1
@muted adder I've had best luck with the Corsair ones for sfx
I need moar RGB
Get one of the NZXT kits in there
Kits?
Look up the Hue+
ill need to make a newer vid where u can see the rgb stripes better.
these 80mm case fans are literally from around the same era..
i dont know how they've kept up
my cpu fan from 2012 even just went out
Alright
i got a full tower which is prob why it's not obsolete yet, plenty room to get that air movin
how is the Thermaltake View 71?
What are some good quality RGB fans and strips?
ah come on. i bought them on the corsair discount weeks
commander pro
rgb stripes
4x LL140
one fan ended up beeing around 20 bucks
with the discount
hmm the Thermaltake View 71 only has 1 in 1 out
1 in 1 out what?
ahhhhhhhhh
its just a box, has zero functional ports anywhere built in haha
thats what the fancy external usb hub is for sitting all pretty slapped on top of the case!
i cleaned out my PC for the first time in like 4yrs and and heatsink was so caked the dust was more like a solid substance
same here after pulling my 4 1/2 yrs old in parts
decide on audio gear poly?
not yet. had 2 painful working days
ah sucks
i think ill prime this soundcard and see what my actual headphones do with it
what headphones do you have?
Someone what is your suggestion for a good gaming pc thatβs not extortionately expensive
a selfmade one
^
ffs
i have done a lot of builds myself, for myself and others, as well as have helped a lot of people part their stuff
if you would like help i will do it
Iβm just in the research stage but thanks for offering
rtx cards are not worth it as of now
intel and ryzen are coming out with new cpus at beginning-middle of 2019
intel if you want easier set up/dont care to stream/higher fps
ryzen if you want to tinker to get performance/are on budget/stream
ram speed doesnt matter much, just make sure you have enough (16gb is the standard as of now, 8gb is fine for most games though)
what part is the most expensive
gpu without a doubt
at least it should be
if youre focus is gaming
if you did editing of sorts you would want a good CPU, and if you dont play demanding games you could get a cheaper GPU
but even in that case the prices of the two would be close
what would u suggest as a standard gaming rig?
1080p 60hz?
yes
you wanna build based on your monitor
no i could get a new moniter just a pc
1080p 60hz i would get an i5 8400, gtx 1060 6gb, 8-16 gb of ram
or ryzen
ryzen 5 2600
ryzen 5 2600 is same price as 8400, but the 2600 can be overclocked, and if you do that it matches/exceeds performance of 8400
but has more cores
i personally think im going to go with a amd cpu next
what would your amd suggested rig be
ryzen 2600, gtx 1060 6gb, 8-16gb of ram
So i found an 8700k on craigslist for $300. Looking to upgrade the to the new platform. Should i pull the trigger?
id wait slavbro
oh sorry im a ps4 player and know little about pcs
intel was supposed to launch 9th gen cpus soon, but they are delayed a littlle
was that the i9?
Ill wait for benchmarks on those. If they're shite ill hope they drop the price of the 8th gen
i9 is a tier, 9th gen is the generation
ok
i9 came out in the 7th or 8th gen
oh
its like a new console scenario
so bob, the main thing i stress when helping with a build is when are you going to build/what is your budget
Max is 800
i dont start suggesting actual parts till the week of purchase
800 is a healthy budget
does that include a monitor/keyboard/mouse/headset/etc
But I would like to make it as cheap as possible
Got headset
Need mouse keyboard and moniter
Purple boi. Still can't sync GPU rgb. Gigabyte RGB fusion is horrible.
Iβm only asking I will look at later deal Black Friday and probably build around after Christmas time
800 gets a little tight with a monitor included
Iβve got a monitor just not a gaming one
Iβm not sure we bought it about a year ago
yea its a sideways drawer pc that i built
that tv stand came with a shelf that i wasnt using, so i used it as my front for my build
i ran a cnc machine at a cabinet shop, so i used that for most of my milling
noiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
thanks =]
im proud of it
especially since my gf thought it was gonna look like shit
hehehe
you proved her wrong
bad quality of front view
lol well i got a treat for you
hows the cooling with that drawer ?
i have 2 intake fans, and cut out space in the back for an exhaust fan and for PSU exhaust
last i checked my temps were around 40-50c
but i got a new gpu/cpu/cpu cooler since that pic i posted
it started as a pentium g3258, 750 ti, and now theres an i5 4500, 1060 3gb
overclocked the monitor
still didnt OC my CPU
will try to shoot for 5ghz tomorrow
you have 60hz monitor?
75
Literally the biggest improvement
144hz is life
overclocking a monitor is a thing ? damn.. TIL
60 -> 144 will change your life
if the RTX 2070 performs just the same as the 1070 im just gonna skip it and get a new monitor
TIL = today i learned?
yea
its like
i would thingk the 2070 will be around a 1080
which for the price, just isnt worth it
just create a custom resolution and start adding +1 Hz. My panel only handles 78Hz and then crashes after that
lol
i remember overclocking my 900p 60hz monitor to 75hz. Damn that was an improvement lmao
ancient 60hz
4K 60
60hz 1080p is probably still the "standard"
yeah i know. sadly
saying 1060 6gb is most popular card, if you just lowered a few settings youd be getting 120+ fps
youd think there would be more 144hz monitors out there
omggggg
gsync?
what are you using now?
8700k
dayumm
yea i would have thought that the 6600k would have been good
but gameplay-wise playing BF1 and SWBFII it did a horrific job
i have a gsync monitor so maybe i could be getting stutter but dont see it
nyphon really 4790?
my old rig was that
running on 4,6 GhZ
i was sick of ALL companies delaying stuff
so i recently got me 7820x
mines not even the k version
ah yeah
but i had the problem
as soon as bf1 firefox and chrome open
= bad fps
cpu usage 100
yea i dont run other programs when im playing games other than discord
lol gee
my 980ti and i5-3570k are always at 100% everytime I game. Probably should upgrade eventually
nahhhhhh
i actually havent been watching my temps or percentages lately
anyone got something better than cpu monitor?
i want to see like a graph of temps and percentages
what if i only hit 80c for a split second, or 100% usage for 5 seconds?
I use Rivatuner for watching my temps in game
comes when you download MSI afterburner
Used to use Cam but that seemed to degrade my performance quite a bit even tho it looked clean
hmm, ill check that out, thanks
u serious ?
CORE TEMP
FTW
Core Temp is a compact, no fuss, small footprint, yet powerful program to monitor processor temperature and other vital information.
isnt core temp for cpu only?
i use temp / ram / cpu
oh well i thought it tells you if cpu maxed. but its only temp max u can see there
you see only live usage of cpu
did you ever tried INTEL XTU ?
it has graphs n shite
probably more fitting your needs
Much better monitoring software
It gives you min, max, and average for everything not just CPU
so GPU, motherboard, etc
and you want motherboard sensors for vcore
so will we not get any 2070 benchmarks til release even though it's out in 2 weeks?
duh?
yep, conspiracy
ahhhh cmon it's Frostbite, they've had EA on board since day 1
nvidia did cover up the "bad" performance
i dont know why they would strategically hold back perf with drivers but who knows what kind of marketing strat will be deployed
they got their work cut out to sell $1000+ cards lol
its not holding back performance with drivers
its that these cards use new tech that isnt implemented yet, and thats the point of them / the reason they are priced so the way they are
i get that it's immature technology, but how you supposed to sell $1k cards at perf levels unacceptable
standard benchmarks dont show what this card can do
RTX completely aside, all i care about is 120fps in low quality
this level of best is unaffordable by 95%
they are not marketed towards the rest though
so are we supposed to just accept they're going to do this going foreward? Release lambos?
its like saying ferrari are dumb for making ferraris
and the rest of us get 2060s
yea but this isnt what's going on
the marketing for this is very confusing as it's a new arch release but is it not supposed to be an upgrade for 1080 owners?
who do not care about "leather sets and fancy interior"
to date every new core release kills the previous by 30% or more with release price points to match the existing
welp, when you are basically the only choice at the high end, its what you do
now we've got this weird release of new tech but at astronomical price point and nothing that simply beats a 1080ti by 30%
at $600
980ti launch price was $650.. no reason the top card of a series should ever be higher than that
over the last 30 years you've had the same cycle... better gpu, better gfx
new DX releases
linear price increases
or just slightly exponential compared to price
things have changed
new tech, very very impressive tech
i dont justify buying one, but i really hope that this tech gets adopted
nvidia didnt lie to anyone, they just werent transparent
i skip a gen every card purchase, so im just in a weird spot now
i waited 3 years to.. buy old tech π
now im just considering a 1080ti if they ever come down
i went from 560ti to 970
my 560ti lasted me 4 years before anything slowed it down
damn Battlefront
it's actually all EA's fault π
i only went from 980ti to 1080 because my cousin wanted to build but 1070s were expensive, so i sold him a 980ti and got a 1080
they're the only ones that release games causing me to need a new video card
i literally pay $400 every 3 yr just to keep up with BF
π€
lol
so Battlefield costs me an average of $200/yr..
the only other things i play are path of exile and rocket league.. damnit Dice
You don't have to upgrade
I got 150fps on average
on a 970
at 1080p
oh yea
oh π
well, 970 isnt a 1440p card
^
970 was billed as the perfect 1080p card
V raped it
ehhh for high settings
low is fine for me
i understand i have to sac visuals for 1440p
idk the frames i got with 1080 at 1440p on bfv
so i played beta lowest everything and still only got 40-70fps
i have everytthing on low other than textures
i want those high fps on high resolution
on a 144hz GSync monitor that doesnt cut it, wouldnt even call it playable
yea i need 100+ or it's just like swimming in syrup
visually
gsync looks good down to 60fps imo
isnt it 45-140
Don't remember
pretty sure its around there
but anyways 45fps with gsync still feels like shit
but you can still feel low fps with gsync
hence why i said 60 fps with gsync still looks good
i guess i should say and feels good imo
you can feel it but yea you wont have the other bad effects
my reaction time on 120fps feels that much smoother
my brain is 200fps π
EASY, slow the f down!
I don't like anything sub 100fps
id pref to keep things over 100 fps just for my own minds sakes
i wish there were some bencharks for competitive BF1 settings
aka.. flora and all post processing etc settings down but textures high
at 1440p 1070ti shows ultra settings at 78-85fps
too big an unknown right now if a 1070ti would run V 100+ constant 1440p low
for 1070ti you might as well as get a 1080
50 bux is 50 bux
for like 5% π
i have a max ever ill spend on a vid card of $400
last i looked price diff was less than 50
doubt 1080 will reach that
it has
are the marginal cuda cores really anything worthwhile?
gigabyte had a 1080 for 400 with a 20 or 30$ MIR
i dont think theres anything else about it?
all i know is that an OC 1070ti matches performance of 1080
so if you OC 1080, you pull ahead again
well, yea but those OC cards run a premium as well dont they
opposed to the cheapst EVGA SC card
you can oc yourself
at points the price difference was good enough to justify it, but 1080s are oddly cheap
and i used to skateboard, so something being in a cool rotation of 1080 sounds better to me
lol
guess we'll see if any vendors want to cough up 1080s around black friday then ;P
only 3 days after release now
plus get to see if it destroys the 970 with release drivers
seems like last black friday there were only like 10% off sales
1080 inventory is already gone
yea sales for pc componenets are never that great
and black Friday isn't always the best sales
monitors are like TVs
You can get some shitty version meant for black friday, other sales
shitty ones are the best deals
Possibly
i have a Dell S2716DG
It hit $350 a few months ago
got it so cheap, couldnt resist
yea
i wish i had gotten 1080 now
but really.. i mean, 1440p vs 1080 + FSAA
i havent done any benchmarks
I don't think a 2700k or whatever is still solid
at 1440p it's 100% viable compared to 8700
ive researched the hell out of it
3770k OCd
well we are here
You can easily push an 8700k to 4.9ghz / 5.0ghz
I OC for the free performance
i dont like to OC components since i cant afford replacements
Don't go extreme
Anyways with overclocks you can get a degradation of the CPU not it dying
So you might not be able to forever maintain a high overclock but it won't die
well that would be piss
this 3770k is rated 3.5 and is only at 4.3
stopped once voltage hit 1.21? i think
i dont think i need it tbh, an 8700k at 1440p would net at best 10% in BF
everyone pisses on this cpu but doesnt understand it ;P
Because its an old 4c 8t CPU
from when Intel only made 4c 8t CPUs
and it wouldn't be $800 to replace it
You can find bundles for an 8700k / Z370 motherboard for $450
and $160 tops for new RAM
i need the 1080 first ;P
i net around -$100 to $100 a month in disposable income π
I net $0
alright well, i guess i may be overlooking slowdowns because overall average fps isnt much better
i guess the 8700 could provide less wtf just happened hitches
they are rare
You want the top 98+% FPS not average
Since average gets killed by drops from loading, etc
That you might not notice in normal gameplay
its very difficult to find bencharks specifically on BF1 for that test
there's surprisingly a lot of i7 1/2nd gen holdouts like me out there
eventually this entire rig will be a 100% loss
dont have kids
It already is
I want to upgrade to a 1080ti
i used to keep up with upgrading "something" every year.. life happened
but since I paid $640 for my 1080 I will always be a net loss even if I sell it
justifying a $400+ purchase to play a game to your wife isn't feasible
when you have denied her buying a Rumba like 3 years
Roomba?
stupid lazy vacuums
because vacuuming is so hard
Depends
no streaming
Not really
Games don't take advantage of 6c much less 12t
and I run my 8600k @4.9ghz and that would close any gap
i bought a 212 EVO just because my cpu fan died
$20 and it lets me OC my 3770k 3.5 to 4.3 before getting too hot
and thats with a full tower case full of metal with only 1 80mm fan intake and 2 out π
$1200 is prob a full re-build with 8600K and 1080
only thing viable is my SSDs lol
PSU needs to go, it's from 2012 even though it's 750w
how critical is 3 fans on a 1080?
I have a hyper 212 but its kinda hot
1080 is super power limited
I regret buying a ROG Strix because its fucking long and performs no different than a FTW
theres too many damn boost clock rated 1080s
i dont remember vid card decisions being this complicated
i dont ever see 100% util on my 3770k so my judgement may be slightly misguided who knows
50-70 at most in BF1
people have buyers remorse goggles on or just failing components perhaps as well
some people saying 6700k -> 8700k was night/day
some saying no diff at all
They generally only able to boost clock to around the same level
Most 1080s will hit 2000-2050mhz
And power limits are a bitch
what do you mean by that
Means you hit the power limit long before the clock speed limit
oh you mean voltage for OCs?
no
not just running normal
$440 for Gigabyte 3 fan 1080, ehh
I think I run like +100/100 because I'm lazy af
weird, no one buy Gigabytes? lol
im using camelcamel to look over 1080 prices for like a month now
this one specifically is way down
470 with 30 MIR
what website is best to see what everyone is buying for mobos
pcpartpicker i guess eh
MSI Z370-A PRO pretty cheap
yea pcpartpicker is the go to
Asus ROG $220 for fkin mobos is redic
im actually quite pleased with my old ASRock Z77 Extreme
asrock solid
from 2012, it OCs really well, can't see why mobos are so expensive
$150 for ASRock also
looks like spending less than that isnt common
long as it has a slot for nvme what else would you possibly want and overlook?
im not entirely sure really...
im sure theres a difference, but not enough for the common person
lacking a slot for the latest SSD wouldnt be the end of the world
thats a pretty standard feature
Asus Prime Z370-A seems most popular at $150
$653 for 8600K, mobo, ram, psu isnt the end of the world..
Hey best buy will take my 2009 i7 gaming laptop for $110.. lol
Paid $1000 for it that doesn't seem horrific
7600k is 4 cores
I'm not seeing why I should upgrade my 4 core i7 now π
Unless there's something about 7600 much better
Vega 64
people have seen 1080s down below $400?
this just seems pretty stellar
in 1440p the cpu doesnt work less hard does it? it just wont be the bottleneck?
Windows 10 October Update rolling out
whats new
its spooky
it will probably break a lot of systems ;D
came back after update and it tells me, there is no user anymore
GJ microsoft
good thing i did an acronis backup before the update and have almost everything "vital" on my nas
good ole acronis still exists eh
i convinced a company to use that over 10 years ago over Ghost
and yea, not everyone has a slave device handy to get files off lol..
windows has a pretty good roll back system for updates, that didnt work?
i had to roll off the last damn update after it bricked my machine
So what's our predictions here after full driver support... BF:V 2080Ti > * but 2080 = 1080Ti for non RTX crap at a price tag of $800 vs $650.
Which will put the 2070 at 1080 speeds possibly.. so if release price is $500 that makes it a bit tougher a decision if 1080 is > $400
Nvidia sucks a fat one for thinking they can gouge the consumers for this massive price for some new tech
@rose eagle because that graph pictures a Vega at 1440p resolution were the GPU is the bottleneck and not the CPU, hence why that graph is pretty useless
VEGA bottlenecks a 1440p?
If you want to do proper CPU benchmark metrics, yes
Vega 64 is roughly equivalent to a 1080GTX
and 1440p is quite heavy
Which is all I'll be buying, so at 1440p.. the cpu is irrelevant is what that tells me?
If you wanna bench CPUs always do it in 1080p or lower
Not irrelevant, but the higher the resolution the more your GPU gotta work
cpu isnt irrelevant, just gpu dependent
I don't want to bench CPUs I want to know how my CPU will fair in my rig on my 1440p monitor and if a new CPU is warranted, but everything I'm reading proves I really don't need a new system
What cpu u got
I was going to scrounge up enough money to full redo my PC but everyone keeps "saying" my CPU is crap and all my research proves otherwise
i7 3770K
you oc'd?
u fine
it's a 3.5 @ 4.3
i7 8700K vs i7 3770K BENCHMARK | Hitman Total War Tomb Raider Far Cry | 7-ZIP Truecrypt X264 | GTX 1080 β Gaming and Productivity | Encoding | Transcoding | ...
i mean, theres a difference
but your CPU is certainly nothing that you need to throw 800β¬ at it for a bit increase
1440p im sure there are differences as well
all im saying
i have a 4790, gtx 1080 for 1440p gaming
yea, i mean < 10% is what I've come up with
i feel fine
if i could get some $$ for my rig I'd highly consider it
the entire thing would be great π
cpu prices are too high right now anyway
got spiked a bit
im considering the Gigabyte 1080 for $440
ryzen 2600 is super cheap
cheapest ive ever seen it
intel are high because they are short on stock
yea i dont think anything but an 8700K would be worthwhile at all to upgrade to
i dont think id be happy with an 8600K
ehh, i wouldnt get an 8700k
i do nothing but game and game dev
is it possible a 3770k somehow would cause low FPS situations?
all the gaming benchmarks at 1440p are within 10%
they might be within 10% average
but like any tech, i could be missing something for low dips
but idk about dips
my 970gtx def feels it im sure in multiplayer when ram fills up
8700k vs 8600k is like 15 fps
that Gigabyte 1080 for $440 is really appealing.. i havent seen 1080s for that low in a while
where you live?
central US
1080s have dropped below that recently
unfortunately nowhere near a microcenter
me neither
they seem to have blow out sales on random stuff
i know massdrop had a 1080 gigabyte for 400 a month or so ago
usually prever EVGA
but 440 aint bad
anything besides camelcamelcamel good for price watching?
no idea what camelcamelcamel is
i use pcpartpicker for my price watching
as well as building
use pcpatpicker
does price history of a lot of vendors
will only suggest parts that are compatible with your build
including physically fitting
sure
pcpartpicker will suggest things that work together
just use pcpartpicker for computer stuff
thats nice, shows most popular 1080s
if i only want to use the site for it
lowest price in a big ole list a+
you can narrow searches by a lot too
yea looks like $440 is best price on a 1080 atm
can i not select the top 5 cards and set a price alert?
this would be as great as my stocks lol
just leave it til i get an email, oh nice I've made $1000! lol
happy mornings
ive never looked for that function
except buy low, sell.. never
ive always just searched manually, since you dont know if theres a slightly different card that is way cheaper than the others
sometimes really fancy cards go super cheap
and i wouldnt want to miss that since i was only looking at these certain ones
there's an EVGA 1070ti for 390
ive seen 1080s go cheap
but someone said somewhere that 1080 stock is gone
so maybe they wont go low again
i thought they also said 10xx series will stay in production until 2019
idk, i dont remember what server someone said 1080s are out of stock
i dont believe it though
just what someone said in some random discord
me?
i was on an audio video forum once and i could swear the "user" was a mole
nah just anyone who pushes a certain tech or spreads info
ahh
impossible to trust such a random quote like "1080s are out of stock and production"
id take it with a grain of salt
unless the CEO and fabrication leads both came out and somehow proved there are 0 1080s being produced ever again
even then they'd have to REALLY sell me on it π
the 1070ti and 1080 are so close on price.. i mean perf
$50 doesnt seem to warrant a 1080
i always thought the 1070ti was equal to a 1080 when OC
and then some people will be like, well then just OC the 1080
but 1080s dont OC as well do they?
~5-10% diff depending on game for 1070ti stock vs 1080
so yea the $50
1080 oc great
i am sick and tired getting shot around the corners with a ping of 10
jesus christ thats good ping
sorry BF servers are coded to not honor anything under 50
FairPlay act of 2018
stupid ass best buy and their 1 letter model changes for video cards makes it impossible to price match
what i will prob do is hold out til V releases and see what my 970 does on low settings in 1440p since it looked fine in beta
and assess what a 1080 will do and hopefully prices dont go back up
surely around black friday cards will be same if not lower
sometimes they will price match
because the letter difference just means retail
i had that happen with a monitor
08G-P4-5671-KB/R
is literally just some weird last letter
interesting, KB is in fact just something for best buy
and they price match new egg... got $150 worth of credit burning a hole in my best buy pocket
and i get 6% back on purchases there x_x
they wont match MIRs tho eh
/r probably means retail
i personally try to buy from newegg, they dont charge sale taxes in a lot of states (mine) and do free shipping
yea that was my only go to before Amazon
i just have a ton of best buy reward points i rack up ;P
i never buy gigabyte anything, not sure how well they're received lately
the $30 MIR is only at newegg though
im sure they wont honor it
yea doesnt cover it, i guess it would be up to whoever
if they wanted a sale or not, most likely not
yea gigabyte seems decent, but if rather get something else
fro 1070ti?!
1080
oh ok
cheapest 1070ti right now is an EVGA
their 1080 stock is cleared out it would seem
makes sense
oh through bestbuy?
amazon doesnt even have any 1080s EVGA
yea newegg had it for 430 at one point
