So logical overclocking? 0.o
rather than physical
and its only for bursts
no
say there is a moment when the cpu needs more speed, turbo hits
but if you need the 4.6 always, turbo wont help
Isn't the base frequency on the 8700 and 8700k the same?
no the k version is higher slightly
because to be completely honest I don't realy plan on overclocking
*really
I don't overclock my current CPU lmao
well you will need to if you plan on future proofing
ideally you want to be around a steady 4.2/4.3ghz range
for gaming
future proofing as in
?
making the cpu last a long time
ah
I have an ln2 cooled 8350 that Im using in a gaming rig
its hyper oc'd and I can get a stable 144hz@1080p on bf1
I also have a 1080ti in the system
but
We have a bunch of those sitting around the shop anyways
I don't have a 144 hz monitor tho lmao
I have a GTX 1060 6GB
that I plan on keeping because it's been doing me well
No graphics issues whatsoever with it
the 1060 will bottleneck the 8700k
honestly
the 1060 can pair well with a i3 8350k
an 8600k is a little overboard for that even
What do you mean it'll bottleneck
the card will limit the cpu in gaming
cant process more than the card itself will allow
1070 would probably bottleneck 8700k too
not by that much
1070ti doesnt though
its about equal
honestly, dont get an 8700k
its great
I love mine\
but save $80~ and get the i5 and the lost threads wont really affect you
frame loss is low and thats ashes
with uses extra threads
This one is relevant to this discord
3-4 frames lost
thats nothing
so the question is, are 4 frames worth $80?
I want to possibly do a Ryzen 2400G mini ITX build, except sometimes boards you buy dont even have an updated bios so it wont post. and Microcenter actually charges $30 to check, and $40 to flash the bios if it is outdated and not posting. I have my Ryzen 1600, but I wouldnt wanna have to unbuild my main PC just to update the bios for another board, a little inconvenient
AMD might still be sending off the engineering samples to fix that
its some odd ball incredibly bad processor that was never released
Yah you have to contact them and they will send you an Athlon, but at that point, I would be better off taking the 1600 out to flash the bios instead of waiting days for the Athlon to come in
well stop being lazy
Hey guys, I've decided to buy a rig for a certain budget, what to you guys think?
The the z370-A is around the same price I'd go with that also, that cooler isn't good enough for a coffeelake
coffeelakes have a hidden cost behind them and thats the required cooling just to run them
also since youre going with a slow harddrive, get an intel optaine accelerator. They make 7200rpm hardrives a similar speed to an ssd
I'd also look into getting a higher speed ram, since speed can affect performance. 2133mhz just doesnt cut it if youre after stability
I'd also suggest a 700w gold rating, silver ratings actually will cost you more money in the long run over a gold if you include the cost of energy into your equations.
past that? Looks stellar
I'm in a budget these parts come within it, so I'm considering to go ahead and buy it
@agile rain some mobos have a special USB port that can be used to flash the bios without having a cpu installed,
S O M E
So pick one that does

@rigid knoll gtx 1070 doesnt bottleneck 8700k
atleast on bf1
i5-8600k good choice if your going to pair it with like gtx 1070
Currently running 6700K with gtx 1070. Thinking of going 8700K soonish, and gpu later when nvidia bothers to release the new lineup
@prime jasper I'm looking to get an 8600k, and recommendations for a cooler
Preferably an air cooler
Because I'm lazy :D
@sour ivy noctua d15 keeps my ryzen 5 1600 3.9ghz at 30 degress idle 60 degress max
How much @pallid silo
now my I5 7200U is useless š
I have a hyper t2
But idk if that'll be good enough for the more powerful 8600k
Why is it useless @prime jasper
because it's 7th gen and not 8th gen...@sour ivy ... SAD
Because it's an i7 7200u
ah
i was ready to fix that lol
ClickĀ Start.
On theĀ StartĀ menu, clickĀ Run.
In theĀ OpenĀ box, type "dxdiag" (without the quotation marks), and then clickĀ OK.
The DirectX Diagnostic Tool opens. Click theĀ DisplayĀ tab.
On theĀ DisplayĀ tab, information about your graphics card is shown in theĀ DeviceĀ section. You can see the name of your card, as well as how much video memory it has.
Do this and tell me what you have @prime jasper
i think it's Intel HD Graphics 620
yep, i am pretty sure@sour ivy
and it has like... 2/4 gb graphic memory. i remember that day when i bought it
i have ma Xbox One
weidly stable 60fps at campaign
i will buy a betterpc (not a laptop) for gaming
and it has like... 2/4 gb graphic memory. i remember that day when i bought it
uhhhh
Integrated Graphics share system ram
8gb ram
yes, but it doesn't utilize all of that
it's only uses a small amount
btw @sour ivy my pc can run Modern Combat 5 (super heavyi, 1gb heavy instead of bf1 for xb1: 42 gb? pssh! too light!)at 60 fps max settings omg no way
you can change it via bios, but you're not going to be able to use as much ram as you like w/o compromising system performance
Modern combat 5 is a mobile game, that's not impressive.
i used irony (if i spelled it right)
btw, ā¬550 was the best that i found for that price.
in that fing shop
idc, i didn't want to game with this crap
@sour ivy in Italy, a 1050 laptop costs ā¬1200
well i think i am gonna move to England or to Albania (my origin country where te prices are super low but the economy is damn high for those prices)
@sour ivy dont use an evo 212 they suck. I'd have to know the case that youre using
@prime jasper Thermaltake Versa H22 Window CA-1B3-00M1WN-00 Mid-tower Computer Chassis (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J0NZ6PW?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
155mm and under youre better going off with something like a h110i or a kraken
@prime jasper again, I'd prefer air cooling
then get a new case
there arent any coolers that can really affectively dealwith coffeelake that are small
unless you delid it
My nh-d15 on a modest oc of 4.6 non-delidded gets 70-80c on my cpu, and thats the best cooler on the market
at 4.2 it was getting very similar temps also
Hell Im at 4.2 right now and Im at an idle of 47
I can confirm Noctua has the best air coolers.
I have the NH-D14
its quite beefy but does an amazing job.
@sour ivy Every type of cooler has risks, but AIOs are perfectly safe for entry level users to install and use
Anything good under 80?
Those heat pipes on air coolers have liquid in them, sometimes a gas. If those get punctured the cooler stops working
this isnt bad bad
Im not going to call it top tier though
its $79.78 with a $30 rebate card
@prime jasper I don't need top tier. I'm fine with base clocking or slight overclock
there are a few coolermaster ones that arent bad either
most of them run the exact same asetech pump
Thanks as always @prime jasper
cryorig have some pretty good air coolers
heres a review for the model I have https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/CRYORIG/H7_Universal/
note: 3 year old review
hey does anyone have experience with seagate drives and seatools
yes
@limber salmon send me it

How much you willing to pay
0
Yes @strong breach
@prime jasper yeah CPUs have integrated graphics
some*
hard drive is dying basically
How long have you had it?
august 2016
over 40000 bad sectors
I'd contact Seagate themselves and see.. maybe they can send you a new one idk
But like I've said mine works really well
i already have a new one
this isnt an uncommon issue
seagate drives are known to have constant mechanical issues
yeah, seagate is known for high failure rates
theyve gotten way better
and are getting better yearly
but
still have a ton of issues
It seems Seagate and WD swap being the good and the crappy company constantly
lel
does anyone know how to fix the "lost connection to session" error?? please...
I have 3 barracudas
and they work really well
they are in pure performance raid, no redundancy
I have a closet full of dead drives, 60% of them are seagate... Bu those are donor drives so it doesnt really count
I see a keyboard
Specs?
Interesting, I went afk for 5mins, came back and primary display had lost signal from DP cable, and I can't make it to work anymore. HDMI still seems to be working fine
Unplugged display from power for 15mins, and it's working again
That happens. It's a weird bug that happens if your monitor has a sleep function.
no product key tho
wait, you're going to attempt to install 8.1 with no product key
yus
You can
pretty much a thing since windows forever
Guys suggest me a good $20-30 range gaming keyboard
And also I bought a new desktop
Core i5 8600k, gigabyte GTX 1070, 16gb crosair vengence ram
congrats
coolermaster as a few memchanical keyboards which are nice
bloody and red dragons are bad for cheapo ones
reddragon
i have it
love it
had corsair and a very nice leopold
this is better
doubleshot keycaps
the key switches feel fantastic
way better than the price leads on
Good morning folks! I need some help with BF1 perfomance. I've been playing BF1 with max settings for the past year... but since Apocalypse came out, I've been having massive stuttering during my matches. Game runs at 60 fps but when it stutters it drops to 15 - 20 randomly. Is there any1 having the same issue?? I play other games such as Battlefront II and I never had any trouble with it. (i5 6600, 16gb ram, gtx1060 6gb)
I had this same issue
and then BF1 somehow reset itself a few days ago (all of my keybinds, video settings etc were back to default) and the game now runs smooth as butter sans Operations (fuck that noise)
ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Did you have it on SSD or HDD? I think the problem is my HDD even tho. SSD only affects loading times.. š
HDD
HDD would only effect load times
everything else is cpu and gpu dependent
idk wtf DICE did to make this game such an unoptimized mess
It's supposed to only affect loadings but apparently It's not.
@prime jasper and hurray i did it (dont call the cops pls)
š
@dry perch I have the exact same problem, I have an i5 7500, Msi GTX 1060 6GB and I think 8 ram?
I've been playing the game on ultra with 120-ish fps as average
But now it's an average of like.. 40
Installed on SSD. Same problem š¦
Something happened at some point that's causing high cpu usage
again idk what it is specifically, as the game runs fine for me now sans Operations
So.. if you had one monitor and you had the option to buy one more, would you go for a ultrawide screen or a normal one?
@silk echo uhm, what are your specs
1070G1
I5 4590
16 Gigs of ram
@silk echo Normal one for sure. Gaming-usage?
Mainly for gaming
I'd go for a second screen. I monitor things on my secondary screen and game on my main
Also, a lot of games will be stretched a lot. Not really something I like
Read what i said again.
Id have a dual monitor set-up either way
Im just asking what monitor i should buy
Ah like that... I kinda missed the context š¤·š»
Nah its fine, im just really torn between getting a normal 16:9 monitor or getting a 21:9 one
For just gaming or also other things?
I mean, YT and Twitter and stuff but mainly for gaming
tbh 1080p 144hz if you enjoy smoothness
then depends how many inches you like your monitor
the thing about 21:9 or wide monitors they cost a bit
even 60hz ones
but depends on your price range aswell @silk echo
I have the an AOC monitor thatās 144Hz, has 1ms response time and is 1920x1080
It went for about $200-300
AOC G2460FQ
I dont really care for Hz tbfh with you
great monitor
- if youāre gaming you want as low latency on your monitor as possible
otherwise you will get input lag
so 1ms response is great š
looks good kartov for you
I damn hope so
Just donāt make any purchases you will regret, Iāve been there, done that
Itās not a nice feeling );
I know his reassons for a 21:9
Thats why im asking so many people
2 monitors > ultrawide
depends alot
for 350 you will not get a good ultrawide
I have played race games on a ultrawide
I ALREADY HAVE ONE MONITOR
and its nmuch better than a regular flat one
read what i said @silk echo
Bruh that shit is top notch
350 is way too low to even get something decent when it comes to ultrawide
I heard only good things about it
Do some research on ultrawide monitors š
And then choose one that fits you
But I doubt 350 will work for anyone
unless itās a Korean knock-off
You see doesnt matter what monitor ill buy ill still have a dual set up as i already have one monitor
So buy a 16:9 then? Or wut???
Fair i only use this monitor for Discord and YT
Cause i had a dual setup for years now and the bezel is so hecking annoying
And the monitor i have right now isnt even full HD
But you wonāt be able to watch youtube and game without a bezel even if you have an ultrawide
But hey dude, fuck it
Buy whatever you want
I wanted to help but youāve already made up your mind š
yuh
Both my monitors are different
1080p and 900p
secondary monitor on the right
if you're worried about different bezels then it's no big deal
@iron canyon can show you his
@silk echo
goals.
You can get good 1440p 144hz monitors for $400.
Ultrawides also have clunky support and stretch most games without increasing fov. Some just put black bars everywhere so it sticks to 16:9
Sideways monitor š
Portrait mode*

Slack monitor
I freaking love my ultrawide
Got a couple 1080p monitors either side for discord + web browser and it's great
Has anyone else found a reliable fix for random crashes in BF1?
I'll start playing and then sometimes I can play for hours...and sometimes I just get boop dropped from the game.
Ryzen 1600, Radeon 580, 1080p on a 24" monitor.
Win10 64, all updates and drivers acquired.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what the fuck
Update to Windows 1803 if you haven't already
have done that, still seems to happen. Just ran the ScanNow utility, checked vid-card drivers etc.
shrug I just may not play for a little while, its getting pretty dumb
Have you checked online to see if there's anything? I've heard of Ryzen users still having this issue
Yeah, there's some stuff here https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/144718/battlefield-1-randomly-crashes-on-amd-ryzen
There's multiple posts on the forums, some have found a workaround
Seems a good resource...let's poke at it...
Hopefully something works
Damn, where are these chat channels going?
So my 4690K went from 100% constantly to like 80% after enabling XMP & turbo boost
thank god for that
100% usage? I have 6C/12T
@fluid plaza take a look at your ram speeds, try to lower it
Need some quick help if possible
Trying to fit battlefield 1 to a window or fullscreen with blackbars on the sides at 2560x1440p
I have a 21:9 monitor so it doesnt stretch well and doesnt fit Twitch well either
is it possible to have it set to that, or is there some sort of cfg command that would resize my window?
I also have a 2560x1440p monitor and bf1 fits perfectly
if its strecthing out way too much then you might need to configure several things with windows
I think he has a 3440x1440 monitor, but wants to play the game at 2560x1440 with black bars on the sides
because you can't set the FOV high enough for 21:9 for his taste (or something) so it looks really stretched?
well 2560x1440 sets it to 21:9, so I'd have to see his screen
you have to set screen scaling in nvidia control panel ( or amd ) - to not stretch the image
I see people on yt have 60+ fps on max settings for bf1 gtx 1060 but i get a lot of stutter
is it because i have only 8gb ram?
even on lowest i get stutter sometmes in multiplayer
yeah i bought more ram it is coming soon
i'm on i5 6400, 1060 6gb and 16gb ram
game runing on ssd
sometimes it go above 60 fps
but i think that is my cpu
i have i5 8400
BF1 is mainly cpu dependent
but 1060 3gb
how is your fps?
lowest settings 80fps sometimes stutter
more ram should fix that i suppose
is premium pass worth getting
for bf1
i;m thinking in up my cpu to one like yours
yes
cheapest is £120
i'm from brazil and it is more expensive here
do u speak Portuguese
yes
is there another language aside portuguese and english in brazil
cool i wanna visit one time
same
lol

Anyone know how to fix geforce failing to install drivers?
grab ddu and try again
Here you can DownloadĀ Display Driver Uninstaller, this Display Driver Uninstaller is a driver removal utility that can help you completely uninstall AMD/NVIDIA graphics card drivers and packages from your system, with...
So should I go through and just uninstall all nvidia drivers?
Charter fucking sucks balls
anyone know how to get in contact with the engineering department?
does anyone have a hyper 212 evo
yes
I had one
Yeah what about it?
hello everyone, can anyone help me i think im facing a high temp problem ?
Anyone know how I can make it so I can get emails from Insider again?
The website doesn't help at all
Neither does that. Thanks tho
I've already signed up to it. Been on it since bf1 closed(?) Beta
That was really the only time I ever received an email from Insider and Battlefield
I could do with some help., I've never streamed pc gameplay before so have been testing all morning during the BFV Alpha. When playing the game I get a steady 60fps at 1440p with everything on high settings. However, I start streaming it using OBS at the same time and the framerates are so bad, (30fps, lows of 12-15) even at 1080p and medium settings it is the same. Not worse, basically the same as it was at 1440p and high settings
I have changed the process priority in obs, it seem to help only ever so slightly
My setup is CPU: Ryzen 5 1600x 3.9GHz (Overclocked) GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-2933 MHz Mobo: Gigabyte - GA-AX370-Gaming K5 SSD: Samsung - 960 EVO 250GB M.2
Any advice would be great
Dont play at 1440p, your system can not support 1440p with x264 encoding, also you need to set everything to low, mesh can be on high/ultra, with HBAO and TAA(high)
My system can barely tank frames while streaming bf5 while at 1440p, and I use top end hardware.
@prime jasper I set encoder in obs to NVENC and it runs well except for a few stutters now and again, maintains 60 fps
but the thing is, with cpu encoding why is they no difference when I play at 1440p High, and 1080p Low
the framerate is exactly the same, you would think it would get better the lower I set the settings
nvenc is why youre having issues
no it was x264 before I changed
its better with nvenc, I dont know why
It shouldnt be
See I if I stream on my ryzen rig with nvenc I cant even get past 30 fps
and this is a hyper oc with a 1070ti under phase ln2
all running at stupid high levels
But as I said before, 1440p is optimized in the alpha, my 8700k/1080ti had issues with it
and everything is set to low
on high it struggles to support 80fps
I dont know what to say, its better with nvenc, I will shar my settings
then you must have stupidly good internet
nvenc should only be used if you have something like a 4770k or a 8350
because it lowers quality and affects the system in other ways
well back to what Ive said several times, bf5 isnt well optimized for 1440p
thats the systemic issue
its not uncommon for an 8700k to get 100% usage on 1440p
but it was the same at 1080p when streaming
playing at 1080p and streaming at 1080p was awful
man I cant even stream the game at 480p without having issues
its constantly bugging out and causing lag spikes
ok so it is most likely the game and not my setup
its just loads of others are streaming it
yeah, and they are all having fps issues
if you notice chat, they are all having issues
only ones who arent having game breaking issues are ones with 8700ks
well part of it is the hardware but that is getting way to far into things
try to stick to 720p30/60 also for streaming right now
1080p 30/60 tends to be really wonky with the 1600 seriers
Are even the non-streamers having issues? Mine doesn't seem so bad at just over 1440p
I am but most of it is caused by my net
the local server is flooded
by flooded I mean with water
not data
LUL
idk if its relevant but i cant access my email settings to activate emails from ea
it says page not found
sounds normal
its laggy, buggy and honestly makes me think the real game is going to flop because of the increased headshot zone
just completely ignore the alpha, wait for beta
One of my friends just redeemed the code for the closed alpha for battlefield 5, but it doesnāt show up in his library. Is there anything wrong?
restart origin?
Or just use the Nvidia streaming tool, no fps hit at all.
Why does āFuture Frame Renderingā keep enabling its self?
Also I looked through the profile config and thereās nothing there for it
BF5 is in alpha, alphas are incredibly buggy messes that should never be public like this one is. Please understand that there are a ton of bugs like the one you mentioned.
don't we all
I have a pc like that
Anyone know what the name of the screw is that screws the motherboard into the standoffs on the case?
I think it's M3 something
I need to order some
@prime jasper Would you know? '[
*;p
depends on the case
and the standoff type
M3 is the standard though
#6-32 UNC is the other standard
#6-32 UNC is the safer bet for most stnadoffs
I have small standoffs lol
If I lose the screws for the stand offs I just buy new standoffs
Try #6-32 UNC, as thats the most common
if those dont work use m3
if that doesnt work, cuss out god and order new standoffs
Hm ok
Thx
I am thinking of overclocking my 1060 6GB until I upgrade. (Most likely going to wait for the next 1170 ti)
Thoughts? :3
im getting my 1060 tomorrow, gonna overclock it to the magical 2ghz
:p
I'm waiting to overclock it until I install my 8700K
then I'm gonna have some fun hehe
im just gonna revamp my whole system next year
I'm doing that this year. I am replacing my power supply, motherboard, processor and RAM. The only thing to replace now is the graphics card but that can wait a few months if not a year.
1060 is a decent card, it will last for a year easily
I probably gonna wait until the 1170 comes out
and buy that
Atm im tryna choose a laptop that im gonna get (For free so no buy destop whining) And i thinkin about Alienware, Razer blade or MSI gs 65
xD
I have to sell a laptop I have atm..... I don't know where I should sell it tho
It's an i3 core
I forget which one though
im getting a laptop for travel and some content creation
I think it's like an i3-6800 or something around there
8350K
?
I have this weird error after a couple of mins in bf1 processor frequency drops to 1.9k to 2k and doesn't go up resulting in high fps loss
CPU : i7 7700
@prime jasper Maybe I'm not sure
You OC or stock? @uncut copper
anyone here who played bfv
@bright apex stock laptop dell 7567 problem is only with bf1.
reinstalled yesterday to do final leg of EE. worked well the first time around.
Then after restart same low cpu usage for some reason.
I like how you have 2 mousepads
Haha I know š I like to have my keyboard far apart from my mouse as itās more comfortable and thereās not enough room for both on the Corsair MP
I have the same mouse. Doesnāt it mess you up if you need to pull the mouse back with the cord being like that?
Not at all I never get mouse pull
š
My table isnāt against the wall itās pulled out a little
I need to go and buy a larger mousepad
I had like a 90x30cm but it got all twisted and dirty so I threw it away
I tried buying a bungee but it didnāt fit the G502 cause of the thicc braided cable
Also need to go out and get a new desk lol
I have a large mousepad like that and it fits my pc desk perfectly. Didnāt even measure it out before buying it
this one is like 15 years old
This is my little corner setup
small and simple š
That desk and chair combo actually works really nice
yeah just little beanbag things, i usually just move the mouse without moving my whole arm, it feels super wierd if i dont use it now
Everyone has a sideways monitor š
If I turn one of mine sideways, can I have one too?
monitors.

yo
Well true Kidneys are super expensive cause they are searching alot of those
Maybe i should sell mine
I should sell my left big toe, those things are a hot fad currently
Does a graphics card ever use up x16 PCI-e?
I can't wrap my head around the fact that the 8700K only comes with 16 PCI-e lanes yet the Z370 mobo I bought gives me 3 GPU slots lmao
thats not how it works
This episode of Ask GN talks about how PCIe lanes work, if AIB partner cards make a difference, repasting CPU TIM, and more. Ad: Custom backplates at V1Tech ...
old video but explains it in a simple way without going overly technical.
Thanks šš¼
i just got 8gb ram and can now run bf1 at 1440p high 60-80fps
from 1440p low 100fps and stutter
š
now i have 16gb total

mr. rockefeller over here with his 8700k, but really though im jelly
@prime jasper nice
now pls kindly donate
i overclocked my 1060 to about 2.1 Ghz
and got around 10 extra fps woo
xD
I'm gonna overclock my 1060 too
and i got it first time
no crashion
Did your 1060 come with a backplate? @prime jasper
Link me with some cheap cases
prefer to use newegg
been looking at some DIYPC cases but the reviews are eh
@quaint topaz I have a DIYPC case. It's fully metal and is pretty nice :p Haven't had any issues with it
Although just a major tip
Their support sucks ass
I emailed them LAST MONDAY and still no response
Link
Emailed them again saturday and STILL no response
What's wrong with it
There is a variant of that one which has one
@quaint topaz
The way they have wiring setup could be better, but that is my only complaint tbh
Does it fit a huge ass cooler
Like what
Noctua nh-d14
It should yeah
Yeah it should fit it
It can fit up to an ATX-E motherboard dude
You'll be fine XD
but again
Their support is fucking shit
You know what
I'm going to bombard all of their emails
until they respond
This is ridiculous
lmao
yeah I can try
Ty
š
anyone know why pubg just randomly restarts my pc without any error message?
yup, only when i have pubg running
like it fully shuts down?
temps are all fine, sometimes happens right when i launch it sometimes hours after playing
yeah my whole pc just shuts off and reboots
i asked on reddit but no one knew wtf was happening, only started after i upgraded from a 970 to a 1080
do a bench for me
google unigine heaven and download
let it run for 30mins and monitor temps
lets see if its the gpu
im going to have to do it a little later on then, it happens a lot when i tab out of the game but sometimes it even happens when just sitting at the main menu or playing
sometimes it re sets all my desktop icons sometimes it doesnt
alright man
just download some more
^
506 USD total. Yay or nay
never heard anything about it
depends on my luck
how early I can start my job
and how much money i'll come back from gamescom with
too late
Booked my plane ticket in March

MSI mobo can prioritize internet for games above other applications

My MSI MOBO can do the same
will a 4k 60hz monitor work fine as a dual monitor paired with 1440p 144hz
It should, though if you're planning on doing e.g. 200% scaling on the 4k monitor, you might encounter some mixed-dpi shenanigans
but it's mostly fine
@@quaint topaz if you haven't ordered yet, don't go Asrock, I've had VERY bad experiences with them
I'm ordering after august
Ah sweet
will go for the MSI z370 gaming plus
hmm
both are gonna be 27 inch
and i havent touched the dpi on my 1440p
and im sure i will have to for 4k
hopefully its not too much trouble
nah, it should be mostly fine
@quaint topaz ASrock is used for professional tweaking. Dont go with MSI, they have super low end MOSFETs that cause crashing if you have a case not designed for cooling the PCB
Also, with the 8700k do not cheap out on the mobo, you can with the 8600k though
How about the 8086K?
thats just a binned 8700k
and not even a good bin, just better than average by a small amount
If I was I'd buy a CPU off Silicon Lottery
I'd buy one off der8auer
Does he sell them now? š
Only to people who do comps
it's too bad Silicon Lottery is in the US
means it'd cost an arm and a leg to order one from eu
$40+ for shipping and then VAT on top of that :(
EU has funny laws
hence why I never follow them
slip a dude some Egyptian god cards and you can import dead bodies
less about laws, more about taxes + shipping
taxes are a type of law, because if you dont pay them you go to prison
Yes but I choose to act like I dont, because it makes for a more interesting conversation where I get to promote the american stereotype of mediocrity
anyway, since you pay VAT for shipping as well, ordering things from the US stings extra hard
@prime jasper link me a nice mobo
see the issue is
i'm on a tight budget
I need an affordable mobo and a case
then get a 8600k, not an 8700k. They are effectively the same thing for gaming. the extra threads dont help with frames by very much, we're looking a less than 1% margin
so unless youre doing content creation the 8600k is the best bet for the buck
woo its my bday
now im old
it also allows you to put that money towards a decent case and a higher end mobo.
@quaint topaz what case are you thinking of? I need to know the case before I suggest a mobo simply because of sizes and cooling
not all cases are made equal
silverstone RL06
look that one up
its top of the line for cooling and is reasonably priced
you'd need something in the range of a maximus hero if you wanted to OC with that case
I dont know how much money you have
well anything below $600
thats it
You got the RAM/cooler etc already?

4 cases that are under $100
problem with cases is that you might want something specific
for looks
if none of those work for you we can start from something else
Sure, take your time
s340 elite is a good case
Classic, that one is
Like Yoda, we now speak
Okay so
I installed my 8700K and my 16GB of DDR4 ram
and my god
I've never interacted with something so beautiful :')
Discord is so fast! omg XD
btw Hess if you buy the case I have
Good luck with the wires
I am afraid to take a picture because of how crammed my wires are lmao
but hey, it doesn't interrupt the airflow or the fans
so I'm good ;p

Which case did you get?
Started to OC my 1060. Very nice results. I got around a 20 frame increase on BF4, and while I was running clocked around 2,100 MHz (my norm is 1,500) I was only hitting around 70 celsius
š
I didn't get a new case btw, using same case I had
200 OC š
Yeah, not really much at all xD Still worked like a beauty tho
@prime jasper +200 is a lot for core clock š
my 1080 Ti only goes up to +75-100, over that and it starts crashing
though I guess it's clocked higher by default
my gpu has micron memory
could've gotten an OC variant (which are, I assume, binned so they OC better, and have some factory OC)
Well, I got an EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked, so I can only overclock like 50Mhz for the core clock I guess
Well my 1060 doesn't crash XD
which is funn
*funny
It handles it really well
Yeah. It doesn't even hit 70 celsius my guy
It floats around 65 celsius when OCed
when idle it sits around 30
Now if someone ever needs a budget card, tell them to get an EVGA GTX 1060 6GB
EVGA is really good :p
I have a new 750W power supply from them
Gold certified, and a 10 year warranty
supernova?
ye
those are gud
yeah ;p
I like ASUS for GPUs myself, but I've never had an EVGA card so
ASUS is good too or so I hear
should be yeah, though the quality of their support heavily depends on your region
in Finland they have a really good and quick RMA process
but apparently it's not the same everywhere else
Some guy on craigslist wanted to trade his ASUS dual 1070 (I think it was superclocked), for a 1060 6GB. I asked him why and he wouldn't tell me, just that he wants to trade and wants me to pay $120 ontop of the trade
so I was like
fuck no lmao
lul
I just wish the closed alpha would've lasted a few days longer
Since I have 8700K, I wanted to see how it'd handle that and me overclocking the 1060
but I guess I'll have to wait till the closed/open beta or whatever
you seen the weird discrepancies in the recent benchmarks btw?
pcgamesn had their 1060 perform about 20fps worse at 1080p Ultra than e.g. sweclockers' benchmark did
0.0
so, when compared to the RX 580, the 580 performed some 33% better
in pcgamesn's benchmark
it's really weird - pcgamesn ran a newer ryzen (2700X) while sweclockers had an 8600K
I don't think that should cause such a massive difference
Yeah
Idk. I saw that on my news feed for my phone
I was like "wuuut AMD did better? Since when" XD
Have you guys heard about the i 9000 series already? :D
Yes. And they're ridiculously expensive
and tbh I don't think they're that supported
I think they're more of an experimental series more than a consumer series
I mean the 580 is stronger than the 1060, as far as I know
but the difference was so big, and the results between different benchmarks were inconsistent
for reference, here's the pcgamesn results: https://i.imgur.com/AH5cepg.png
and here's the sweclockers results: https://i.imgur.com/ZPm6cW2.png (and rig: https://i.imgur.com/CGSybzT.png)
That's in German..
swedish*
Same thing Oh
but the green bar is the avg fps anyway
0.0
oh well š
guess we'll have proper benchmarks once the game releases, in an alpha the difference could really be caused by anything
it's not like there was a standardized benchmarking mode or anything
I assume they both just played some amount of time and got the avg
ah
ive heard amd gpus perform better in dx12
even then, that wouldn't explain the benchmark results (pcgamesn tested with both and had a similar difference)
Sooooo
I have a software that allows me to overclock and play around with Turbo w/o having to go to BIOS
and lets just say, I overclocked from 3.7 GHz to 4.3 GHz and I am still stable XD
I didn't break anything (yet)

I actually went over those findings
Around 50 celsius idle, around 60 celsius under load
š
He had some weird testing methodology
oh
I needed to scroll down more
fuck
I turned the Ratio to 43 because I had the computer automatically doing the ratios, and I could see my frickin frequency bounce up to 4.7 GHz lmao. I don't need that much power yet haha
do you know what turbo is for?
Yeah
but I don't have much that needs turbo atm
I mean
I like it on
System runs super fast with it on
Ok, as long as you know its for burst speeds not sustained
yeah
Well I think this "TPU" puts a cap of some sort on the turbo because I don't see it going back up to 4.7 GHz
some boards have a max of something like 3 seconds in turbo
ah
some have 8
its rarely very long, its just for the cpu to be able to deal with a sudden heavy load.
I don't get this. TPU is supposed to be for Turbo, yet you're able to adjust your CPU ratio. I adjusted it to 43, and my frequency is hovering around 4.3 GHz
Not bouncing up and down like it was 0.o
god asus makes thing so confusing sometimes
tpu also means tensor processing core
Uhhh
Sooo overclocking?
trying to see what that unit does exactly, as I dont remember it
its kind of old
Okay well I don't know what I did but Turbo doesn't seem to work anymore. It is just using the 4.3 GHz frequency I set it to (even though I set it back to default)
its thrown onto lower end boards for some reason also
It's like.. staying on 4.3 GHz
I have a $160 board
;p
yeah low end
How is $160 low end what
because its not an apex
Eh. Still does what I need it to do. I like it alot
formula code
