Engineering?
yea
gonna be spending most of my time in a dorm there
Because a lot of the great laptops with desktop graphics cards are heavy
Weight limits?
& storage requirement?
1tb
dont really know how to judge weight reqs
havent really used laptops before
4-5 pounds
Ok I'll dm you some stuff I find
I found something that destroys that @narrow flame
@sour ivy 8350k is basically a 6600k. It's not even remotely worth your money
wait
FX 8350?
absolute trash
do not buy
going from 8320e to 8350 is such a tiny upgrade
@narrow flame Unfortunately you're out of luck without a platform upgrade. Preferably a new CPU, but also possibly to a haswell based Intel CPU with a new motherboard. If you can get something like a i7 4770 and a compatible motherboard for a decent price that would be almost as good as you can go. If you can get an overclocking motherboard for a good price you could also consider a 4770k or 4790k but those would probably be out of your price range. There's really nothing that uses the same motherboard you currently have that's any good
Can you recommend him a good gaming laptop under 1200 USD? @magic yew
laptop is for uni
good, gaming laptop and under $1200 do not go into the same sentence.
good and laptop do, gaming laptop and good dont
expect a starting price of 2000 for good
sometimes good enough can be found for 1500-2000
There's plenty of gtx 1060 laptops for under that price
gaming laptop for 1200usd won't do shit
Huh..
@hazy oasis that isn't as big difference tho
The only difference is from 1-15 fps
I will
at least a gtx 1070ti
My budget is tight af
i5 8100
8gb ddr4 (8 will be ok for now cuz price)
Gtx 1060ti or 1070ti
Still working on the proper list
A ryzen5 1600 is a good apu right?
how good is a GTX 1060 ? for newer games like bf V? high or medium=
@hollow zealot 980ti and 1070 are pretty close in performance a lot of the time
@wise goblet very capable card, assuming you don't expect to go higher than 1080p 60fps on high settings
@magic yew thanks , i dont even have a 1080 p monitor lol i just want to play this game smooth then ๐ ty
It should be mostly fine, as long as you already own it and aren't buying it new
if you're buying new there's a bunch of CPUs that are MUCH better choices
If I had a better cpu I could run ultra at 60 fps with no dips. So it will run in ultra if you have a good cpu
@wise goblet
What's your cpu
I miss playing BF1 with everything in ultra
jump to a better monitor made me have to play with everything set to medium for my 1070
What kind of hardware will I need to sustain 120+ FPS in a game like BF5 with a 1440p 21:9 monitor?
will xbox be able to handle it though?
What about my toaster oven?
Of course it will
Dice will. Make sure to dumb it down so it fits on all platforms even if it means all platforms lose meaningful features.
I have a few wireless ones, a Denon AHGC20, Logitec 933 and a Bose sound wear
Sorry man, Sennheiser is out of bounds for me
Lol
but my the 933 is also a 7.1 surround sound, one thing about them types is its gonna divide up the speakers inside the headset so in surround mode the sounds gonna be weak
at least thats how mines worked
I hear there are surround headphones that don't do that and can provide better sound, but are a lot more expensive
But audio and monitors for gaming, you need to try them out for yourself, what feels good tends to really matter on personal perception
Sennheiser hd 579
Sennheiser hd 559
Sennheiser GSP 350
Sennheiser hd 599
This is my list
+1 for Sennheiser. I got HD 555's nearly 10 years ago. I still haven't found an excuse good enough to upgrade to a newer model. Also zero replacement parts needed during this time
I have the G933, it's freaking great
@sour ivy i5-4670 K
good or nah?
I bought the audio technica 40mx
@autumn terrace 8700k and a 1080ti. I still get dips below 100. The graphic change is also very nominal and it makes everything super tiny.
@prime jasper thanks. I have an i7-5820k and 980ti currently but it sits below 80 right now. Will the difference between the 5820 and 8700 be small enough to just keep the 5820k and go with a 1080ti over the 980ti?
@autumn terrace http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8700K-vs-Intel-Core-i7-5820K/3937vs2579
8700k is way faster on everything
and its tdp is 95 over 140 so better overclocks
The problem with having the 5820K (I have one) is to upgrade you'd either need to go to the new extreme board and CPU or slightly less money for the 8700K and board and lose two RAM slots
It's a lot of money either way, so I'm thinking the best solution is get maybe a Broadwell E chip and overclock it more
you dont need more than 64gb in 99% of cases
64 is a ton
normal gamers dont need over 16
It is, but if he already has the slots filled it's something to keep in mind
It's worse here in AUS, I remember getting 16GB a few years ago for $95, now it's over $250
$260 for the exact same kit :/
ouch
Iโm thinking I will stick it out for another year with the 5820k and then do a completely new system and use the old as a streaming PC.
Why is ram so high?
Will an I5-7600K bottleneck a GTX 1070?
depends
Rams high because companies were making gddr5 ram for GPU's because that is where the money was isntead of making Ram sticks for ddr4. With crypto going down things should level out.
ram is high because artificial price manipulation and production shortages
there's no reason, all the dram manufacturers are being investigated atm
pretty much
mostly for market manipulation for their own gain
which atm 16gb of DDR4 costs like what 160$+ and 2 years ago was like 100$
in bf1 I get a lot of stutters
i'm using a 1080ti, 7700k 16gb ram
it happens while loading the map but at times it just stutters suddenly
Do you have GeForce experience enabled or origin overlay? Turn those off
Cause that can cause stuttering/frame drops as well sometimes
Just uninstall the GeForce bloatware, problem solved ๐
Could do that too, and just grab the drivers from the site
That's what I do, can't stand that experience
I enjoy the Xbox record that feature in gforce experience. It's stupid easy to setup and works incredibly well since it's using the GPU video decoder chip and doesn't effect anything else
The overlay can cause some issues but one of the easiest ways to help reduce stutter is to limit the fps cap in bf1 and force off vsync
Yeah, that works too
Is there a reliable place to buy / sell used CPUs and GPUs? Besides eBay.
MErcari
enthusiast forums
are you using dx12 @dry jolt?
oh whoops old messages
anyway, I have a 1080 Ti + 6700K and get some pretty mean stutters (at least at the beginning of matches) if I enable dx12
not too surprised about that
since nvidia and dx12 are like cats and a loud noise factory full of fine china
I need to use it in War Stories for the cutscenes to play properly tho :(
Hey people. Does anyone know if battlefield 1 could be played on a normal Windows 10 computer well.
Or if Windows 10 can work for battlefield 4 or might it work for battlefield V?
Because I had an experance with Skyrim and hitman and both had little problems with all the detail into it. Skyrim - Bushes and building need to disapear inorder for me to play. Hitman- It is all very laggy. And I now want to play a battlefield, but I do not want problem
Define 'Normal Windows 10 computer'
I buy microsoft 10 computer, I set it up. And I download battlefield.
What are the specs?
How do I find out?
Start > type 'dxdiag'
Okay I put on dxdiag, but now I see System model, BIOS, Processor, and Memory. Where do I go from there?
Compare your computer to specs shown on this page: https://www.origin.com/usa/en-us/store/battlefield/battlefield-v#store-page-section-requirements
I think those specs should be thought of as "preliminary"
Also "barely works on these" sort of specs
DirectX: I have 12 and it recommands 11.0. Is that better or worse?
Check what it says at RAM, CPU etc
Go to Display
yes?
then what? What information?
my display thing is 1440 x 900
What about if I can play Insurgance? It seems like it might have a lot of requirements. If that works well do you think battlefield game would work.
Different games have vastly different requirements, and may be bottlenecked by different parts of your system
Can you download a program called Speccy and take a picture of the main screen when you start it?
What would the graphics card part be called, because I am in display and there is Device type, Approx. Totoal Memory, Display memory, Shared memory, Current Display mod, Monitor, and HDR.
Just take a screenshot and post it here
Press Windows key + Shift + S
Then paste it here
Scroll up at 'Display'
Battlefield 1 minimum requirement gpu was GTX 660
That's on their site
Recommended was GTX 960 if I remember correctly
I say battlefield 1, because I have no idea what battlefield V is going to have
Same requirements as bf1
As for now
They're also listed in origin and battlefield.com
๐
yes, but I barely understood what you were all talking about.
I do not understand computer chat or language that much. So saying oh look at GTX 960 only gets me confused.
Oh uhh
Let's just try to keep it simple
I higly doubt that GT 730 is able to run the game
You had GT 730 as your graphics card, correct?
There's no way you can run it on those specs
http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-660-vs-Nvidia-GeForce-GT-730/2162vsm12582 here's the GPU Benchmark between the GPU you have VS Minimum requirement
GTX 660 performs about 350-400% better
Lol
Even though it performs 300% better in certain rendering tasks it still only gets 100% more frames tho
yes I understand. So I need to go to a third party sourse to get a better graffics card to make this play well?
Okay. thanks for the assitance. Now the only thing is now is if I get that and if I do, I would just need to figure out how to put it in my computer
Has anyone ever had this issue when trying to download something on Origin? This has been happening for years and its very rare for me to ever complete a download because of it. (Watch the Battlefield 3 download).
Nothing happened?
Try installing on a different drive or running as administrator.
@sacred pollen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbDiSMQ_L_k
Welcome to our value gaming build guide! What kind of gaming experience can you expect from a budget build these days? This video build guide was brought to...
Do I need to buy a gaming PC?
like alienware or something like that?
all I want to do is put a Graffics chip in my normal PC. Can I even do that with a normal PC?
what specs in you current PC?
If you look up a little you will see some of the things I showed of my computer earlyer
if that explains what you are asking
you will need a new graphics card and a new power supply, and that will make it a gaming pc
I'm gonna need a new of for sure. But I don't mind I enjoy it
gosh I am so clueless when people have terms for certain parts of the computer. What do you mean a new power supply? I do not have a computer that runs on coal. And for that I am happy about that fact, but seriously. I do not understand "new power supply?" Does that mean to energy storage device or something?
a power supply is a box that supplies power to the pc, google it
it connects to the motherboard and where you plug your pc with a power cable to an outlet in the back
So I can do this for any computer? Even just a normal buy in the shop PC? I can edit it?
So long as you have what you need, yes
Looks to me like you can just upgrade to a new graphics card, but that all depends on your power supply and how effective it is.
Is it 500W? 400W? 600W?
@sacred pollen
Open up the computer
Watch the video I linked you, it tells you how to build one. It's not complicated or confusing.
I'm guessing it's a 450w since you have a pre-built dell.
@hidden pilot turn off Origin Overlay
does that normally work?
It helps a bit yes
Turn it off in the Origin Settings, and the game properties in origin
And disable GeForce Experience if you're using Nvidia
In the settings in the desktop app
And change the frame rate limiter in the in game settings to 60 or 120
Could be, but some of these options could help a bit
Requires a 6600k at the minimum, so yes
@hidden pilot which 1050ti?there are two with the same name but completely different specs.
two different versions of that one
there was one that was released that caused a scandal, one has lower specs and is still called a 1050ti
nope soz
its better than normal wifi, but its cheaper and better to just move the router into the room with the PC. The set up i have costs over a grand and it was the only one that would work well for gaming. I went back to hardline since the random minor dips still affected me
I has that one
Is this the bad one?
No
can some one go down the phantom elevator with me on ps4
does anybody want to play fortnite
@valid tundra turn it off, thats how you fix the issues
@prime jasper my friend has a 760 and a i3 and he runs the game so good on high settings
is my pc that bad?
which i3
also good is a vague term since both of you arent getting 60 fps, which is what most people consider good
idk
averaging systems he's probably getting around 38 and youre getting 45
i uninstalled geforce experince to see if that does anything
ive had problems with in the past
in game settings
@hidden pilot what are your specs
we already dealt with that riel
@sour ivy Asus strix gtx 1050ti oc 4gb i5 4460 3.2 ghz 8gb of ram
my friends laptop runs this game better
960m and i7 6600
16gb of ram
he runs the game on low settings and the game is constant 100-120 fps
@hidden pilot what do your temps look like
its not just the cpu
@hidden pilot I have an 8700k and a 1080ti, I cant always keep 100fps on low settings, he must be under a 1080p res for that, because that would barely handle 120 fps on low.
you'll also need more ram
That's my native res
its not uncommon for that to bottle neck this game
Idk
i do know though
a 1050ti can barely get 60 fps on titles like bf1
the processor is a slight bottleneck also
I have a 4th gen cpu mobo
My friend has a 4790
you'll need to overclock
Oof
the 1050ti has an overall speed of 5% over the 760
Ok so all I need to do is get more Ram and slightly better cpu
getting more ram is a good start
I'm in Canada that shit is expensive
ddr3's prices werent horribly affected like ddr4
memory express has new chips for around $100cad for 8gb
On Amazon CAD 170 for 8*2 gb sticks
you can use the ram you have already
you just need to match the scews
I know the VC area had tons of ram on craigslist
now just keep in mind that you might see a huge difference, but it might help with stability since most pcs have tons of background tasks that also use ram
just make sure with the ram it is all the same
kek
@narrow flame link
Does anyone have a good PC build, I know a good chunk about computers and I want to switch from console to PC on a budget of under 500 or 400
USD
The system requirements for battlefield V haven't been released yet
I at least want it to run Bf4 at high, or BF1 at medium
Initially they're saying you should be able to run bf1 and bfv on similar machines
yes
Yes they're the same specs
@prime jasper no way you'll be able to get a pc that can run bf1 or bfv on high for 400
It's not possible
I'd stick with the PS4 in this case
You could get a pc that could run bf4 though
Even medium for bf1 for 400 is a big stretch
why?
lol true
Look, my 1000 dollar pc lags sometimes in bf1 because of my cpu
And my cpu costs half of 400
If you really want to play on the pc, I'd save
I'd just want to get out of my comfort zone of being a console gamer, I want to try something else, I'll start saving up for it
See ya on the battlefield
What would you spend on the pc? I can help you if you give me a budget
something like 8 gigs of ram, a gtx 1050 ti, intel i5
And hopefully by the time you save graphics card will drop in price
See thats manageable
true, I could go for a 1060 or a 1070 if the prices do drop
Nah
1050ti is solid
1060 would work too though
Ofc you'd want to check prices before you buy it to see if things changed between the different companies
true, like EVGA, Asus, or Gigabyte
My 1060 is pny
It makes a little to no difference what company it is
Do you care about how the pc looks @prime jasper
kinda
I don't care what my ram looks like lol, not a big deal to me
looks epic :p
quick question, does this cooler keep the cpu more cool than the one inside the cpu's box?
Corsair Carbide Series 270R - Mid-Tower ATX Case, Windowed Cases CC-9011105-WW https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M35FI12/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_46xdBbSF19PMV
Ye
It does
The stock cooler sucks if you're going to overclock
Do you have a monitor?
Corsair VS Series VS550 550 W Active PFC 80 PLUS White Certified Power Supply (CP-9020171-NA) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078HDMFRZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_y8xdBbV1ACYPC
Oh you don't have prime?
no
Have you used the free trial
HP Pavilion 21.5-Inch IPS LED HDMI VGA Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WCV70W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_n9xdBbTTST901
nah, I don't plan to use prime anytime in the future
thats all riel, I have my eye on a good keyboard and mouse combo for a long time, thanks for a
sorry my pc glitched, thanks for the build man
@prime jasper if you are thinking of building a PC, I would recommend you check out a site called partpicker, it will aloe you to easily make a parts list, and check for compatibility and look for the best price
Do not use pc part picker. It has bad pricing data
tbh search around local stores or search by yourself on amazon
or better if you're from US r/buildapcsales
newegg is a great place
and GPU's are MSRP now, or just about
RAM is more expensive
and if you aren't going to OC your processor don't get over 2400mz ram
not worth the price difference.
*near MSRP
1070 are msrp-ish
only 1070 and up on nvidia side are at around MSRP
1060 and all AMD are still way over
1070, 1070ti, 1080 are all within $50-80 of msrp for the most part. 1080ti is still way over
the cheapest 1080ti I can find is $800 which is 100 over msrp
most are atleast 150 over though
1080 Ti MSRP is $700?
yep
huh
cheapest 1080 Ti here is ~800โฌ which, even with 24% VAT applied, is ~50โฌ over MSRP
board partners almost always charge over msrp
so keep that in mind
@north crow
cheapest 1080ti you'll see for a while
i got 30fps constant...
i have a 2k โฌ PC
wtf?
The 1080TI FE performs as well as any other 1080 TI right?
What are your temps while in game @quiet chasm
@prime jasper a 7700 Will work with my mobo right? My mobo is for i5 6500,lga 1151
Yes
How hot is your cpu while in game
How i see it?
Download Intel extreme utility
Intelยฎ Extreme Tuning Utility (Intelยฎ XTU)
Open the game and see what your cpu temperature is
With this
i was in menu
ok i do it
Alright, lmk
There's a couple of other things it could be
In video settings is dx12 on
@dreamy tinsel yes, FE just means founders edition aka not factory overclocked, non-board partner. @quiet chasm the price of your pc doesnt mean performance, i7 what? it could be an i7 thats grossly outdated, it's a scew thats been going on for a while. @sour ivy yes it should but it can have some issues. Just make sure your bios is updated so it'll work.
Which i7 do you have
its a i5_7600k 3.80hz
nope
Alright cool! Wasnt sure if the SLI etc. were better or if its just because its quieter or something like that
technically they are worse
@quiet chasm did you set the display to 60 or 144? they sometimes default to 30\
in the actual windows settings, not in game
i dont fint it lol
FE is worse, or SLI is worse?
d
Would you recommend getting a new mobo then
@quiet chasm
depends on the mobo you have now, some of them are just bad
and if youre getting a new mobo just get an i5 coffee lake
because its the cheaper than a 7700k
ok its 144 @prime jasper
now make sure the in game settings are at 100 res and not higher
its on 100
i got ALL low setting
antiliasing off
and in fight i got less than 30 fps
its a 3gb or a 4gb?
i run 80 fps normaly when they are not a lot of people , but when we got team fight i 'm fucked
what brand is your card?
nvdia
its a founders?
then its not nvidia
gpu is nvidia, card is someone else
gpu is the chip on the card
not the actual card
download this
validate then post the link
link should look something like this https://valid.x86.fr/biepze
Ok i have install it
Completely log out and close down Origin. Hold down the Windows key and R. Type in "%ProgramData%" (without quotes) and click OK. Now open the Origin folder. Delete all the files and folders in the Origin folder, except for LocalContent (do not delete this one). Hold down the Windows key and RType in "%AppData%" (without quotes) and click OK, This will take you to a Roaming folder, which is located inside of AppData. Delete the Origin folder
Click on the word "AppData" at the top of your window. Open the Local folder here. Delete the Origin folder listed here. Restart your PC and log back into Origin
This effectively increased my fps by 20 and it made the fps more stabilized
ok i try
So I shouldn't recommend it?
ehh
If it helped me and 3 of my friends I shouldn't recommend it
I prefer figuring out everything first
ITS TOO LATE ๐
And I dont think the brand of the graphics card matters that much
if it works its great, I tried it on my other pc and I had to redownload origin
Unless it's some random Chinese knockoff
actually brand does matter
Well it worked for me and people I know so idk
Yes it does just not that much
Not the difference between 60 fps and a locked 30
I was checking to see if it was a chinese knock off for one since the intel thing said 4gb ram on it
secondly brand means a lot in reality because of the coolers
no its not
My card is from pny
different PCBs
And it scores similarly to the msi
different chokes
i'm back
My EVGA 1080ti kingpin scores way higher than my asus strix 1080ti
because the PCB is massively superior and the cooler is better
Im playing at 1080p
1440
The 1060 can't handle 1440
and I have a 8700k/1080ti
OK THAT WHY
It can't?
its not
I have an old 1080 and its was very clear on him then i buy a 1440 and problem happen
its very common
I think he might have an extreme processor
Yes that's why
You can't play on 1440p with a 1060
hes not running it at 1440p@144 at ultra
eww
Idk
they are like $400
SO I GOT 180 FPS ON LOW NOW
Yep
Yay!
Run it at whatever you want
for best frame rates
I make settings all ultra , and got 110 fps
Turn effects down to low
As suggested by pht it makes game run better and you don't get as much fog
its what I run it at with my under $1000 pc
because I paid less than a grand for this
win 15 fps
?
1440p on this game isnt that great
^
yes
When
NDA
No
Maybe that was someone else
Ah
that reminds me Im going to miss computex this year
So there's a chance the 7700 wouldn't work with my board?
let me check
Thats super low end
to me at least
yes
they can as long as the bio is updated
i forgot h110 boards existed
as I said, if youre changing the mobo go with the 8600k
and not a 7700
yes the K is worth the extra cost
it allows you to get more bang for the buck from the processor
but for boards, that all depends on what youre after
I dont know low end stuff
that being said, I have brand loyalty to asus
never had an issue with an asus pcb
Asus has some Quality Products ๐๐ป
Gigabyte are also good if you go high end, their low ends are only good for starting a dumpster fire
asus low ends tend to be good
I have a second pc for streaming
oof I wish i had that
I stole it from an employee who owned me a few grand

yes
yup
6 core 6 thread vs 4 core 8 thread
8600k is legit one of the best processors on the market
Good
its probably the best performance per dollar
And will this cooler be ok for some slight overclocking
which cooler?
i don't know anything about CPU OC:ing
Buy Cooler Master RR-HT2-28PK-R1 Hyper T2 - Compact CPU Cooler with Dual Looped Direct Contact Heatpipes, INTEL/AMD with AM4 Support: Everything Else - Amazon.com โ FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases
I'd get a new cooler
This is the one I have rn
thats not even good enough for a 7700
what is your CPU Temperature on idle Riel?
you dont need to water cool
oh okay
I'd say around 40 c
wait this reminds me i gotta clean my PC today
gonna do it now or else ill just postpone it
๐๐ป bai for a bit
Pce
later
Unless I dont need to overclock
I'd say the 1600x has better performance per dollar
it doesnt
I have one next to me
Amd
its a peice of shit and I wish I never bought 10 of them for my lan set up
I've heard horror stories about amd
I have 1600x and my friend is on a 2600x
AMD isnt that bad
Both of our CPUs are running smooth as ever
I just have nothing but issues
8600k is more powerful but also more expensive
between memory compatibility issues, the bad single thread performance
I bought my CPU before Coffee Lake even released so I'm good
I've been happy with my 1600, though it's only been used for work, not gaming
Sounds like you're just beat @prime jasper
no
I do this for a living
1600 is great for work loads
I have a 1700 in a render farm
its not bad
but for gaming its been trash
What do you mean "no"
im not beat
You are beat
how?
Dont all benchmarks show that Intel is better
It basically just means unlucky or unfortunate. I said that because of your AMD issues
Almost all
@sour ivy Depends on the CPU
its not unlucky though
this is a very common well known issue with amd
Oh my gosh
they have a ton of memory compatibility issues
It was just a saying
Your issues are exactly why you're beat
doesnt make sense as a saying
Im not beat though
You just said you had issues with the Ryzen
this is a very common issue with the zen architecture
mostly with memory compatibility
yes
I know, anyone that has that issue's beat
It's not a negative thing
im not beat though
But you are
Im not
Like, you stub your toe, and I'll say "You're beat"
Im perfectly awake
What
No if I stub my toe I yell "fuck my life"
Close enough
why'd I yell im beat?
Im not beat
The way I said it has nothing to do with tiredness
The way you said it I've never heard anywhere ever
O k a y
I don't expect you to know every phrase from each corner of the world
what corner is that saying from?
Pennsylvania
Im in philly
never heard that saying here ever
I'm in Pitt
I've heard dozens of people say it
I dont hang out with people below my tax bracket normally
mostly because Im at work 99% of the time

@prime jasper I'm pretty sure that the meme is supposed to be low res
because its shit?
shitty res for a shitty meme
I didn't make it
its got a 9gag watermark on it
its not a real meme
Im stuck working on a datacenter thats grossly understaffed
we have 8 employees and we need 200
More money tho @prime jasper
i keep getting this error and nothing on google is giving me a fix. does anyone know how i can fix this?
Update your driver
i did
Ddu it then reinstall
i did
i also fresh installed windows
and now origin crashed out of nowhere
what the fuck
i wasn't even doing anything
origin crashes a lot period
first time i've ever seen origin crash
just decided to add insult to injury i guess
reinstalled everything again and am still getting the error
Did you follow these steps? https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/
i'll try
are you trying to play bf1 or bf4?
Do the bottom steps, so it completely removes everything
battlefield 4
So hi there. just came here because this is my last hope... At frist i want to say sorry to the employer of EA for my following text, i know this isnt your fault, its the fault of DICE, but im not able to contact them directly. ย Just owned BF4 a feew days after release... i...
give me a bit i'll try both
๐
i reinstalled everything, ran everything through firewall, added battlefield 4 to the new punkbuster file, scanned and repaired and launched origin in admin
the first step really isn't possible for me so i skipped that
still getting the error
have you tried contacting support to see if there's anything else you can try?
Sounds like an issue with an OC ๐
roll back the driver?
When did this start @silent mural
today
Does it happen with all games, or just some/one?
just this one
first time i've ever seen this error
and after so many attempts to fix this i'm left confused on what to do
Which game is it?
bf4
i might need some help. i used to play the bf1 beta back then and it ran just fine. no issues. today i decided to finally buy it and it runs absolutely horrible.
like, i dropped all my settings to low and i am still hitting maybe 40fps max with drops down to the low 20s or even 10. played a round on sinai desert and getting close to the village made the game unplayable due to all the stutter.
pc is not overheating, drivers are up to date, no issue in other games.
i5 2500k, 8gb ram and a gtx 980 is what i have as well as win10. any ideas? found some stuff on google but most is old or was about issues after certain patches that seem to have been fixed.
i also disabled DX12 since my menus lagged like hell before that
Try to figure out if it's your cpu or gpu bottlenecking. There are software which allows you the utilisation of each. I guess it's the cpu, bf1 uses it very heavily, and the update to fix the meltdown/spectre vuln didn't help
its most definitely the CPU, i am just surprised how horrible the performance got over these 2 years so that i cant play multiplayer at all anymore
There 's also: http://thebottlenecker.com/#calculator but I don't know how accurate that is
@compact thunder try on an empty server
sp works just fine on max, 1440p with 75fps on average. will try an empty server in a sec
For some reason, I think Amiens is worst of the maps performance wise for me. Dunno if it's about player density on the map or what
argonne forest, empty server and high settings: 90fps with drops to the low 70s. sometimes when shooting i completely randomly even drop into the 50s. reload a mag at the same place and shoot again and the fps stay stable
there is also some noticable microstutter every now and then, even though the fps are at around 80-100
Nothing else running on the background while playing?
Sometimes those random stutters and dips can be really time consuming to figure out
only bf1, discord and origin
mhm.. updated drivers, clicked around in the settings and restarted my pc. this time landed on suez and it somewhat worked.
what i did notice however is that, similar to sinai, my fps drop down into the low 60s/50s whenever i look towards the town
Your cpu is way too old for battlefield 1 @compact thunder
then why did it run just fine before?
When the game first came out, it ran better on old CPUs. Now it doesn't. Your cpu is from 2010, it's time for a new one :) @compact thunder
Can someone help me fix this high cpu usage? XD
i7 7700k
Gpu?
ASUS ROG GTX 1050ti 4GB OC
@compact thunder do not run the game at 1440p Thats your main issue. Also lower your settings, max settings are super resource demanding
@compact thunder you were running at 1440p!???
i forgot to mention that i had the 10h trial last year. i played it back then and it ran good aswell.
also yes 1440p for years now
and i also said that i am not playing on max in multiplayer, i even said that i tried the lowest settings
@prime jasper isn't trashash bottlenecking cpu?
run the game at 1080p
50 percent graphics card 98 cpu?
umm a lot can cause that
1050ti W 7700k
7700k wont bottleneck on this game, the 1050ti will
Idk @trim garnet let pth help you
oki thanks
run the game at 1080p
i did. lowest settings included turning down the resolution. also res isnt really CPU intensive
I meant the gpu is bottlenecking
And JUP ~55% gpu usage and 100% cpu usage :(
only obs is opened. I'm not even trying to record otherwise I'm playing with 30fps or so
:(
Trash what fps are you getting
ballpark?
I stay on 60 fps even when my cpu is getting really high in usage
Ballpark (educated guess)
Like how much fps do you think you're getting w obs closed
Is that consistent?
jup
@trim garnet high cpu is normal fyi
I have an 8700k and it does that
I'll hit 100% load frequently
I want good performance when recording XD
cause i could record BF1 before but not anymore
yeah i was planning to get a 1060 6GB in a week or so
As battlefield 1 progressed the performance got worse so you're not alone
I would highly suggest avoiding 1060s
ok i get 90-100fps
the 1070tis are around MSRP now
with some shit opened
and 1060s are still grossly over MSRP
true
I think it's going down
Not really
