During the Tides of War week yeah, you would do missions to get those weapons. But after that you can just spend CC to buy the weapons. Personally I think that's a way better system than Battlefield 1's, where you were forced to do Assigments to unlock content you paid for.

If you ignore the circlejerk, Battlefield V is actually a really solid game. Free DLC maps too, and weapons and gadgets can be purchased with in-game currency so you're not really missing out on anything except for cosmetics.

Just expect to suck for a while. Battlefield games can take a while to get used to, with how much you can do in a single round compared to Call of Duty.
