yeah.. the races ands tuff are hidden behind loading screens, while the rest of the moneymaking stuff is hidden behind companies/factories/nightclubs/arcades that you can buy and they can give you jobs (like export drugs/steal cars and sell em etc/promote your club with flyers) that earn you a bit of pocket change. that doesn't really have a lot of loading screens except some timers (Like producing the goods takes a while or having a few minutes delay between car selling after you sold one) and can all be done in the freeroam stuff.

Calling Battlefield 1942's campaign a story mode would be like calling Street Fighter's Arcade Mode a story mode, or Unreal Tournament's Single Player Campaign a story mode.
It's not exactly a story or plot, just bot matches but you're given the history of the battle really.
Having a story is kinda against what Battlefield is supposed to make you feel anyways, a part of a bigger conflict and focusing on one character or a group of characters makes the battles seem small scale
What I dislike is that most of the big battle set-pieces don't last for too long and sometimes the enemies only just fire at you.

There are ways that a story mode can combat this, like different perspectives of the war... although Battlefield does have that, the characters don't intersect and are fighting completely different battles that don't exactly affect each other.
Personally, I'd take away the ability to just play through each campaign respectively and have them all 'intersecting', with one mission going to this perspective which transitions into another one
