thats just it .. the main reason BF1 was so immersive was that 99% of players knew so little about ww1 so they had no expectations going in, that lead to a general education on that war and built a personal relationship with it that was completely controlled by DICE. with ww2 the opposite is true, its such a over subscribed war, so many books, movies, tv shows, games that when your average player didn't see those elements he/she identified them they felt kinda betrayed .. and gamers have zero patience with game developers, if its not in the first release its a massive fail so when dice spent half their budget on campaigns and release content that were very eurocentric, beginning of the war (like 2 roterdam maps) the community went wtf wheres muh dday
