grab your spotting scope. use it. see the number next to where you're aiming? that's the distance it is from you to your target. say it's 300. now check your snoiper rifle. left bottom it says it's zero range is 100m. so when you shoot till 100m it will be dead on on the dot of your scope. however, go over that and you need to adjust your aim a little higher to accoutn the bulletdrop. set your zeroing to 300m and now it will shoot the bullet right at the dot of your scope
so if your scope is set to 100 and yous hoot at a 300m target, you would have had to adjust your aim waaay more than if you just zet the zero range to 300m

one thing i'd give you advice on for that is to manage your bandages. you only get one if you dont'go medic in combined arms. buuut you get the option to call in a supply cannister or a health station at the end. aaand your health will always go back to 100% so just hide if you take too much damage. try to not to use your bandage the moment you get hit ;D. this also applies well in multiplayer. if you use it only if you go below 50 or it won't heal you past 50, you're good to go to use a bandage. your health usually still regenerates a fair bit. (you can see where it goes based on the transparant bar) above 50 you can usually tank a sniper hit or whatever until you reach the nearest health station/medic.
