I have to disagree with you there. Repetitive maps that are too symmetrical offer a different issue, and I think they've achieved a decent equilibrium in BFV with map variation and balance.
It isn't perfect, but rounds aren't usually one sided unless the team is unbalanced or one team is that much more skilled.

I think the variations change up gameplay more so than previous games though.

breakthrough aerodrome is british tank camping, conquest aerodrome is in favour of germans heavily
I used the trenches and side channels though to find decent cover.
But yes, cap. point balance wise was unbalanced.
Problem with COnquest is the fighting always happened at C, so British were always on the defensive
Plus the broken transports never spawning meant it was hard to flank

Brits have to either drive around a huge rock with their inferior UPC or drive through the trench
They did push the British vehicle spawns forward with this update I believe
Plus the Brits pre-game spawn spawned everyone at the trench, and no one at the B spawn

100 should def be the range at which an FG42 falls off completely
40-50 meters should be the 6-7 range
As long as I can still dunk on the average player I don't particular care from a gameplay standpoint, I'm just still of the tinfoil hat angle that they purposely released a shit change and then dialed it back to pretend they listened

Devastion you can play like a 3 lane, and its a cross layout for the flags, so every direction you travel can be relevant

Twisted steel is not my favorite map,
And the cathedral is the center
i like that one as well
Arras is a good medium-map so it has all the engagement ranges you could want without the size of the map slowing the game down
I wish the cathedral roof was more open for easier v1 😛
Yeah Devastation would be a good map in BF1

It wasnt bad, it just didnt have much to do with the weapon itself
