AT rifles were replaced by man portable AT gadgets like the panzerfaust for exactly that reason, an AT rifle lacks the kinetic energy to penetrate several cm of hardened steel.

Put another way, an AT rifle has less kinetic energy than just one of the 4 guns in a Pz IV AA tank, yet somehow because its a gun that a player can use it has 8 times the power

in reality an AT rifle would need a muzzle velocity about 50 times what it is now to penetrate and at those velocities the bullet itself would disintegrate in flight

if the rifle didn't explode when you pulled the trigger

this is why the only way to achieve those velocities requires a non explosive force such as magnetism (rail gun) and a rail gun needs a ship sized mount to be useful in combat

Having elite kits as callins was literally an idea I was throwing out during the beta

You wouldn't need any armour, just have it as a primary swap out that you call in with limited ammo that can't be resupplied, but you can swap it out with other primaries and peeps can pick it up from your body
