heres another theory i found on reddit

So to begin with, theres a giant flag hung up on the wall that screams fascist aesthetic, using the same color scheme as the ing soc flag from 1984 and some traditionalist symbol in the middle.

The plane in the starting lobby is also either a sm82 or sm79, both Italian ww2 bombers that were also used for cargo and transport. They also share a color scheme with the flag. Theres also prison cells in the spawn area, which would indicate we the players are infact prisoners.

Over the PA system theres a bunch of old British ww2 propaganda playing talking about defeating the germans overcoming, which is all cut up and played weirdly. What I think is that firestorm takes place in an alternate history ww2 where the axis win, and they deal with allied war prisoners (all the cells) by making them fight to the death. . The propaganda playing over the PA could be used as a means to mock the prisoners, as despite its talks of overcoming, they failed and are now destined to die most likely.
