You're missing the point, BF2 made all of it possible when it exploded in 2005. And BF2 was the most competitive-oriented battlefield there ever was.
What people were doing in BF3(jumping and crouching xd) is not even comparable what people were doing in BF2. They were jumping, crouching, prone-spamming, ADAD proning to start rolling animations, switching squads to change their squad leader to be able to spawn on a specific person and many other stuff.
