In modern day, it's know as Pugachev's Cobra.
MiG pilots are notorious for employing this, but it's not a new thing and has been around since bi-planes.
People slowing is essentially the only way to simulate it in game.
Anyways, in game, there is no reason to ram the other plane, because if you keep the other plane far enough off the nose, you can telegraph their play and do the same slowing.

If you watch BF3 BF4 BF1 trailers etc. The trailers play out most of the time like action scenes from movies with some tactical play. But IRL the game experience isnt like that at all. So I was playing as a Valentines Mk III tank on Battle of France operation, on Panzerstorm, were at the last objective, A falls suddenly and quickly. Anyways I’m at B chewing up infantry and halftracks. I notice A has fallen so I ride up to a hilltop that overlooked the area, I’m gunning down infantry’s as they rush then the sturmtiger appears and I understand why A fell fast. So the Sturmtiger 1v1s me, I’m blasting at it while it tries to stablize the cannon, this continued for 15 seconds before Sturmtiger one shots and we lose B as I’m respawning. I took out almost 3/4 of it’s HP, got video of it and a screenshot

I hate to tell you man if you're so obsessed with stats then you are everything wrong with BF. I play for a good gameplay experience and ptfo. Not to boost my ego with stats that mean nothing to me other than a minor satisfaction. Games we grew up on never had these stats. You didnt get points when you killed someone in most games. You just had a k/d, and that was it lol. Maybe a hit ratio and rounds fired lol. That was good enough then and its good enough now. Point systems make people play for points and play for themselves instead of their teammates. Especially with all these assignnments. While can be fun to challenge yourself. Kinda ruins gameplay experience at the same time.
