It was considered for trial by the British but they ditched it as it was easier to train British soldiers with the Lee Enfield as it was their common rifle, no point in retraining their new soldiers with completely different rifles foreign to them especially in mid-late war, I'm guessing they also didn't want to have to buy Garands converted in their standard ammunition or want to use what rifle rounds the garand had. Just a guess
