Reality states it was to assist in defeating types of ammo like HEAT, and I also believe in game it counts as spaced armor. I think it is destructible, so it may require extra ammo. You said you were using the British medium? You mean the Valentine with the small gun and it is fairly quick right?

the main advantage to using AP bullets is for hitting critical modules on tanks, or for shooting at range since it has a flatter trajectory due to increased muzzle velocity in the game.

UK- Staghound - 20mm with AP for flanking and spotting scope to assist your team and your aim
GER- Pz. IV - Case rounds with skirts and 76mm upgrades -
SPAA (Self Propelled Anti Air) - Pretty obvious...(Will provide clarity if needed)
3.AT
UK- Churchill - Howitzer with HESH for both structures and armor (making sure to angle to annoy those using AP or normal AP rounds
GER- Tiger - HEAT for obvious reasons. APCR is great for shooting at range but deals below average damage and tends to bounce more often
