Upgrades are basically a 100rd belt or 75rd saddle drum. 75rd drum gives faster reload. RoF can be upgraded or you can improve recoil behavior.

DCS does better fidelity of in-aircraft systems and FMs, but their damage models are kinda lacking.
IL-2 has beautiful damage models and their FMs are really good.

Especially as the Tiger isn't any tougher to disable.
Just tougher to outright kill.
The low RoF is a hindrance in an armor fight, because faster-firing guns introduce so much screen rattle.

Tiger basically has to ambush opponents, nail turret first shot to disable their ability to answer.
Otherwise most vehicles will hammer it with rapid enough shots to introduce permanent screen shake.
Exception being the Churchill GC, which is the Tiger's direct counterpart.
