Basically it turns the MG42 into an HMG of sorts. The carriage the MG42 itself sits in has a recoil buffer, and the mount provides the usual T&E adjustments plus mounting for a persicopic sight.
Just the periscopic sight would make it worth it in BFV, you'd be able to shoot while not sticking your head up. Would make for a nasty static emplacement.

Air Superiority wasnt so much a display of jet skill. It was so small and far too easy for others to get angles on you that you couldnt defend from. Was spam dog fighting more than anything.

They are easy to use, but there was always little tricks to out turn people etc. That always made the difference.

Guided missile locks from high, force the active protection. Then you can easily strafe the tank with cannon.
No need to even get close to the tank or ground. Should be dead long before you get close.

Practice leading cannon shell and you can kill infantry with blast and kill tanks in 3-4 shots

Atleast 50% of the people I ran into in jets on ps4 back then would try to get me into a dogfight. Soon enough I would get around on them and as soon as you start shooting them, they bailed out. Was like a 10 second dog fight.
