Russian strategy was never to prepare for an attrition war. From the very beginning they intended to implement deep battle theory. It was only after they rebuilt their officer corps that they had sufficient coordination and experience to successfully pull it off.

Deep battle was absolutely the strategy they wanted, and they didn't actually get a chance to implement until 42-43.

The problem was that they'd just purged their entire officer corps.
There were a lot of hard lessons learned during 1941 that bore fruit in 42 and 43.

I honestly believe their strategy was to conduct those deep battle tactics or guerrilla war that you mention mainly out of necesity, and for the goal of allowing the industrial work force and the supply chain catch up at a point were they would not be lost before they were usefull. All the way to stalingrad, the german advance was pretty much unstoppable.

Deep battle isn't guerilla warfare, two very different things.
The core concept of deep battle is to establish defense in depth along a front, backed by large mobile reserves, when the enemy focuses on a given point, the defenders can yield ground in a controlled manner by falling back to prepared second and third line positions, while the reinforcements mobilize to attack the newly-formed salient and then push back into enemy lines through the now-depleted opposing forces.

I know what you are refering to and I don't quite agree they are that different. Guerrilla warfare bases its strength on deep battle tactics or surprise attacks as well as ambush attacks. All in all they meet the criteria of creating a disorganization on the enemy forces.

Guerilla warfare relies on dispersed forces, literally the opposite of the concentration of force envisioned during a deep battle engagement.

Deep battle is very much a strategy for an actual fielded army, employing combined arms to an extent that guerillas typically do not have access to (And in fact, I would argue that having access to that level of combined arms would mean they're not guerillas.)
After all, guerillas don't set up fronts hundreds of kilometers long, multiple defensive lines deep, with large motorized reserves. Or at least, I've never heard of any doing that.
And you can't separate the defensive half of deep battle from the offensive half.
They're intended to be utilized together.

I'd agree on a very broad strategic level that deep battle and guerilla warfare are compatible strategies, in that an established breakthrough can be used to insert guerilla forces to further disrupt enemy logistics, but I wouldn't say that they're synonymous because of that.
Guerilla warfare is typically about bypassing front lines entirely, negating their very existence.
Deep battle is more concerned with dealing with front lines as a flexible matter, with exploitation into the rear as an end goal.
I mean, I guess if you squint hard enough you could say that guerilla warfare kind of looks like some tenants of post-breakthrough exploitation, but without the combined arms aspect that seems like a long reach.

I'm not sure I managed to send my messege across though, so I'd say it in a very concentrated way, to me the similarities rely on the very core of the strategy, where the asymetrical aspect of the engagement implies that striking key assets and the disorganization that it creates is always more effective than a conventional means of attack.

@solemn lodge Yes it does, Revolution comes with Premium Pass, and all of the Battlepacks that come with it. It also comes with the Heroes of the Great War pack I believe it is called. Basically the Hellfighter gear and all that.
