As a Medic, I personally always make sure I equip smoke grenades. That along with Concealed Rescue, you got quite a bit of time to save your buddies if they're shot down. As for guns, it entirely depends on your play style. I'm a more mid to long range person, so I use the RSC 1917 Factory and the Mondragon Sniper variant. Very effective when played well.

Fedorov is great for the close range guns as a medic. Though I'm probably using it wrong because I'm terrible with it But The M1907 SL Sweeper is my go to gun for close range.

Yes, I watched a video on youtube saying that the full automatic rifle introduced with one of the expansions is the best weapon for medic. It may be but if i wanted an assault experience i would play assault. I love the medic for those rifle weapons. Kind of like a mid range sniper with more utility

@desert dune I used to preach about smoke grenades but I have found that using light AT grenades are way more useful
My squad starting using them. All four (or more on some nights) have them in their loadouts. It's very easy to help out our assault player if we just toss a grenade at a tank and keep moving.

Also going to agree with you about the federov. That thing was a game changer. It let medics finally approach the front lines where they are needed. Every other rifle other than the M1907 and Autoloading Extended really limited the medic at a long/medium distance for effectiveness. CQB was just something I as a medic dreaded. It still is. But I feel that the Fed is really underpowered. Takes way too many shots to down someone with a fire rate that can be outgunned by most other class weapons. I stick with the Autoloading .35 Factory and actually do extremely well with it.

It's personally annoying when my accuracy on a rifle (keep in mind that rifles are made to be accurate), is close to that of a shotgun in terms of spread
and it's even more annoying when on a large number of guns I have to hipfire (which destroys my accuracy even more) because while aiming down sights firing my gun for a split second will have me looking up at the sky (and I have really good recoil control in other games)

I had heard - though not sure if it's confirmed, that the operation intros are based on actual diaries and accounts from people who fought in the relevant battles too but not entirely sure. Would've been cool seeing the Schneider CA or even Whippet tank in the game at least
Granted not like it would matter much, post-TSNP tank usage dropped immensely with only like, 3 maps hence on allowing for actual tanks and those being limited to the landship

I was actually hoping the Whippet would come in Apocalypse alongside the K wagon, guess that was wishful thinking, but it would have been really cool if Dice could show off further tanks that would have or already made it onto the Battlefield before the end of the war, and yeah the 3 maps that had showcased the tank battles were pretty small, was disappointed that they couldn't add in more vehicles for dlc
Although if the rumours of the intros for the French operations being based off of actual soldier stories are true then that's pretty suprising by Dice

Planes in BF1 are just little more than an annoyance. They can be shot down by a team easily in one of their passes. The heavy bomber is ridiculous but can be shot down by fighter planes relatively quickly. The fact that the team doesn't acknowledge aircraft unless it kills a lot of people quickly is what makes them op.
The AA rocket gun really helps too.

I think the stamina system makes sense, to some extent
it should be affected by weight though, it would make you think more
I do not like BF2 in its current state though, even though its playable online
but it just is not the same
it was much better when it was actually new
