With PC, I think servers are denser. Meaning, you're more like to find less available slotted servers than consoles, but PC servers are always either packed or empty.

Well, most of my friends are on consoles, so I'd have to buy it on a console, but they themselves end up getting bored of it, and so I start playing it alone, which I don't mind, as long as it is fun. When I play BF, I play it alone most of the time, and it's still fun. Not the case of COD.

@hushed pawn It is tempting, but as a guy who owned BF4 on PC and PS4, there is a significant controller difference. Not just physically, but also experiencing it on screen. As a guy who loves consoles, and played them for the most of his time, Battlefield is certainly a PC game, even compared to COD.

Eh, honestly, I think it's the best approach for DICE. Bad Company 1/2 had a great single player, but honestly in terms of DICE's history, those are severe outliers.

It's down to preference I suppose. I have zero issue with the smaller stories.
They were quick, bite sized chunks that taught the mechanics and had just enough narrative depth to be interesting. And then off to the next battlefront.
And, as I said, it makes telling a reasonable story a lot easier. It also makes a terrible story a lot easier to ignore/forgive.
Which frankly, DICE needs that crutch.

I agree with that, but why give them a crutch? Why not ease the load by using friend studios under EA. Not necessarily to develop a whole story but, just use their expertise in the matter.
It's not unprecedented for 2 studios to work on a game. DICE clearly has trouble making a compelling method of playing through a story, not actually writing one.

It's a thought and something that at one time was reasonably common. Unfortunately most of the time the outsourced part of the game tends to be pretty terrible.
There's a reason it's pretty rare these days.
In any case, in terms of BFV, they pretty much need to play it safe at the moment. While I personally have every reason to think most of the discontent with the game in the community is a fairly small vocal minority, it's definitely what the media is picking up on and that will influence sales and overall public opinion. War Stories is interesting and a safe bet.
It's also worth noting that most people don't buy BF for the single player.

On that last note, after I bought and played BF4's story, story mode was no longer my main concern with Battlefield, but I was excited when I saw DICE taking this new War Stories approach.
So, I had significant expectation - not equal to Multiplayer - on the Single Player mode.
And I know what you talking about, when it comes to the controversy with BFV at the moment - Something I'm planning to address on my next Podcast (shameless plug, it's called The Gaming Podcast on YouTube) - But, playing it safe is not the right strategy. Maybe on some level, it is. They don't need to poke the audience anymore now, but this is definitely the moment for a Hail Mary, "outta' nowhere" move. They need to show that, because of these "certain choices" the game is far better. Story mode would give them better control as it involves them telling a narrative.

I disagree rather strongly. Single player has never been their strong suit. Banking on their weakest area is a losing strategy. Playing it safe is exactly what they need to do. They need to go all in on their multiplayer.
Also, it's worth noting that the shorter War Stories approach will allow them to give out short (EDIT) single player experiences as new factions are added to the game via Tides of War.

No, I don't agree with leaving single player as simple as their previous games. DICE is taking a creative shift - much as I hate them using that term - and while yes, Multiplayer requires a form of creativity, there is so much more that you can do with Single Player experiences. I may be swayed to believe in the War Story approach, but as long as these "Single Player experiences" via Tides of War does have extensions on existing stories.

@fading brook I liked the shorter campaigns, because they did a good job of being short stories. The character writing would have worn thin in a single long campaign, but was right for the bite-sized chunks we got.
The level design was bland, but I'm biased. I think all modern level design is bland.
@timber plover By the numbers I'd go with the AEK. It's got a lower TTK than the ACW-R, longer projection, and only moderately worse accuracy. ACW-R might be a better knife fighter due to the fast reload, but that's going to be down to you finding the timing to take advantage of it.

@hushed pawn Yeah, I read those articles, but it's weird for me to not see it. Video game single player stories is about ensuring missions and gameplay mechanics are contextualized by the narrative. In most games, you do much of the same things over and over again, but only the good ones know how to not make it seem repetitive. What made BC so good was the characters, and the fact that whatever you did was always in cohesion with the narrative. Like, when you blew up that LAV at the beginning of Marlo's story. From a gameplay aspect, its a typical hoop to jump over, but it was noticed by your squad.
The best way I could phrase it is like this: With BC, the little things were emphasised . Making ever hoop and hurdle rewarding when beaten, because they were part of the story, and not level. With later Battlefields, they placed the small things on a grander stage, and they didn't scale. Remember BF4's first mission. It had you running on an empty field fighting enemies grunts, and trucks, LAVs, which all would've seemed such an significant fight in BC, but weren't in BF4.
Lastly, another reason I disagree with DICE not being able to make a compelling level to complement their stories, it's that they did a great job with each story individually in BF1. When I first played as Edwards the stealth missions, and big, large scale battle at the beginning didn't seem repetitive, until I saw it repeated, almost identically sometimes (like with Blackburn), in the other War Stories. That's why I think that if they just, at least, made fewer War Stories that are longer, I think that would be a better Single Player experience, don't you think, @hushed pawn ?

No, I don't. I'm fairly certain the only reason DICE was able to make War Stories compelling was because they were short.
I'm not arguing that a long campaign can't be fun or compelling. That's certainly not in question as they absolutely can be. Whether DICE can actually pull that off or not is absolutely in question however. Every long campaign DICE has made has been rather horrible, lack luster and usually considered a joke. The two exceptions, the two campaigns DICE have made that were worth a damn, they've flat out admitted they have no idea why they were good.
Actually, there is a third exception. Ironically it only provides further evidence to my point. Mirror's Edge. It was a "longer" campaign in terms of time to completion. The actual story however is actually very short, simple and told almost exclusively outside of gameplay.

I have my mouse on 400 dpi, and sensitivity around 15-20% but it feels like it takes forever to turn around and what not. Is that pretty normal? It seems most sites/guides suggest 400-800 dpi.

Well, I have 2 issues, but I can take one of them
My battlefield has out of nowhere started running like crap, I used to get really good FPS and could max out the graphics no problem
Now it seems that no matter if I play on lowest or ultra the fps is still always 15-50
Have you noticed anything? Or do you know how to fix this/why this is happening?

This could be due to your processor thermal throttling or if you play on a CPU that doesn't match the minimum requirements for BF1. Head to #technology I'm sure someone will try to guide you on what to do 😃
