They way I do it is reduce contrast, I have it at 45 even during the day. I just find the game too contrasty.
Nights still too dark tho. I have a seperate profile for nights, I am still trying to get a feel what optimal should be like. I don't want to strain my eyes but I don't want it to be like vanilla either.

As a test I removed the RenoDX addon and just loaded up with a base reshade and relimiter, same thing. Thought maybe it was conflicting with ReShade. @crude marsh the Nvidia overlay is enabled but I don't have it active. I could try disabling that.

Yeah, at the time I thought it was maybe the RenoDX build Forge was doing but this morning I noticed it was Relimiter alone. Loading without Reno at all still has an issue. Remove relimiter from game folder and boom, no more issues.
We got the best analogy for this game I've seen:

Its bizaare, too. If you load the game from the main menu, you still hear it happening. Once you hear your guy fully load into the world, pulling up the pause menu (map/journal, etc.) all works fine. Close the pause menu and back to black

This is where the 4096 number comes from.
If you used that in a game that does not have Reflex, that would be fine.
If you're trying to smooth frame pacing in a game that DOES have Reflex, it's critical that you always pick a limit below Reflex, and dividing by 4096 is always higher than Reflex.

Hmm, I assumed it wasn't that big of a deal because I read this a while back from the BlurBusters admin.
"157fps more consistently keeps input lag consistent. There begins to be sudden increases between "INSIDE VRR RANGE" versus "OUTSIDE VRR RANGE", and this begins to occur near the thresholds. The Reflex analyzer is simply working to keep lag consistent by staying away from the lag danger. 157fps with less lag than 161fps, in a manner of speaking.
If this is something disliked, I always tell people to purchase a GSYNC monitor with more VRR range than they need, so that framerate ranges are always inside VRR ranges, so that they don't have to worry about framerate capping.
Besides, mathematically 1/161sec versus 1/157sec is only a ((1/157)-(1/161)) = 0.158ms difference = 158 microsecond difference in frametime (& also MPRT persistence of that said sample-and-hold frame rate).
Not worth striving for, especially if VRR-range-transition latency changes are much worse than that.
The Reflex analyzer is supposedly doing its job in keeping latency low by automatically sticking to the ideal VRR-cap-below differential. Sometimes the sweet spot is more than 3fps-below, but your mileage will vary depending on the monitor and refresh rate."

Yeah. It's to keep the driver from switching to regular VSYNC.
Your display's reported VRR range is padded by the driver on both ends to prevent signal drop-out, so LFC kicks in at higher framerates than reported and VRR disengages for normal VSYNC at lower framerates than reported in display's VRR range.

I'm running it at 144 Hz in order to use 10-bpc, it would be limited to 8-bpc if I used the full 175 Hz.
I don't do that often, since hitting framerates that high in most games is impractical without reducing graphics settings on my 4090.
For the occasional FPS, I'll use 175 Hz.

ok, so an observation, although this is probably well known already. The custom auto exposure works great however in interiors its waaaay off - the perfectly sunny weather and 2 windows that let the sun in - this interior should be illuminated, while with CAS its tottaly dark

they built lighting around auto exposure, right now you can only have 2 out of the following 3
- Dark nights
- Non nuclear auto exposure
- Bright interiors
I did some RT tweaks that helped to add more bounced lighting however that also caused increase noise

I must agree with those who said the game in its current state looks better without RR. Everything's much cleaner and crisper, I can finally see details, there is no shimmering, no artifacts, no ghosting, no blurred textures (at least at first sight). I know it's not as accurate as the RR solution but damn, having a stable image is 1000 times better.

Then some dickhead showed off controlling Vergil in DMC5 and refused to release it so spent a day doing that and released it showing it's borked because no player controller anim. Protip for ultrawide users- you can use Borderless Gaming or DisplayFusion to force custom resolutions with Windowed mode in game. Currently running 21:9 on my 32:9 screen, resolution is set to 5120x1440 in the settings but the game scales to 3440x1440 properly with the FPS boost to show for it. Good way for 21:9 users to force 16:9 if desired.

Newest patch 1.01 changed some shaders and renderpass setup. HDR, grading and post process settings work. Everything else needs to be updated
The following is broken or non functioning
- Contact shadow improvements
- Grass/foliage improvements
- The whole materials toggle
- Hue correction for local light sources (only the flame sprite changes colour)
- Alt bloom
- Lens flares?
Clear shader cache if you have issues
Removed grass/foliage shaders since that seems to be the culprit of the CTDs for AMD

Sorry it was from before the game was updated. Best place I saw was if you stand on the bridge near the intro area between the town and the mapmakers hut and look down at the river banks during high sun the banks are very bright and with it off the banks look normal. After rain I feel like it is more accurate with how more of the geound/mud is reflective but just personal preference for me to have it off since it makes the ground too bright imo. If it’s too much to split it back out I have no complaints I’m really appreciative of the tools you’re giving us.

Off topic a bit, but is anyone playing with Dualsense on PC? I haven't been able to get the adaptive triggers or real rumble to work, it's stuck on haptic.
For most games that have support it works when launching games with steam input disabled and making sure the controller isn't disabled as a sound device, but here haven't been able to get it to work. Also checked wiki's like this https://thegameswiki.com/crimson-desert/wiki/dualsense-features which say you need to play with steam input enabled but alass still no luck.

i mean you can remove parallax perm if you just lower model quality to low but you lose out on some stuff

2nd biggest thing i noticed turning model quality to low does is get rid of the snow you can walk through
The new bloom settings are great. Specifically the smoke/particles and local lights settings solved the only issues I had. Setting them both to 10 gets rid of the blown out look while still having some glow.
