400 nits is insanely bright. It's only "dim" compared to TVs with 1000+ nits in a bright room.
Hell, I run my oled monitor at a constant 30% brightness. Otherwise it's just too much.

Try these settings. Keep ingame HDR settings at default (remember, windows hdr on, auto-hdr ALWAYS OFF, ingame hdr on), ingame exposure also at default (50). Then try my reno settings and go from there.

Difference between HDR10 and HDR10+ is movies in HDR10 have dynamic tonemapping like Dolby Atmos HDR. HDR10 is just a singular static one. So useless for gaming anyway since it's dynamic
hdr10+ will read your tv and adjust values accordingly but renodx will do that anyways as far as nits go

Flickering shadow with the new patch is due to parallax occlusion mapping, you can disable this shader via the mod https://www.nexusmods.com/crimsondesert/mods/1?tab=description (Numpad 4 by default)

@faint bobcat just to let you know, alternative bloom seems borked. Dunno if it last patch or no but with alternative bloom enabled lamps indoors don't have bloom/shining effect, while lamps outdoor at day have it.

Guys, still no luck. I still got blackscreen on RTX 5080, even after verify the game files, delete the cache file using DDU. Is having AMD processor affects this blackscreen issues as well? If i press Alt + Tab (i have second monitor) i can see the game on the monitor that is on.

The game got updated, therefore reno will need an update to fix some of the rendering stuff, some sliders don't work currently
I had that issue last night, uninstalling Reshade solved it for me. Then I installed Reshade again and it is working

Enable the DLSS indicator. Reg tweak you can google, or things like DLSS Swapper have a gui option you can set to enable it.
To get up and running with this, simply hit Win + R and enter Regedit in the box. I toggled the displacement shader in No Hud Effects, and it got rid of most of the shakiness I kept seeing

Bloom flickers because it's constantly jittering per frame.
I nuked it and did a shitty single pass bloom in tonemap shader and it looked better because it was actually stable

Whats used in a game and the latest available from Nvidia aren't always the same thing for a reason. We've seen this for years as players scamble to swap in DLL's the game wasn't yet meant to use and break things. Thats all. Nothing new.

using this tool it was possible to use trashformer v2 when it was still not available in nvapp override. And that is 1:1 same dll

its kind of hard to avoid patches breaking things when you modify all of the games maps
I think hero light is the small light behind the character. Turn it off and visibility might get worse but lighting is more accurate.

I am on a RTX 4080 and i use DLSS: Performance / Graphics: Cinematic / RR enabled / FG enabled.
70-90 FPS / latency around 60-63 ... plays very well even at high latency 😉

maybe I dont understand anything, but I really wish the new version auto exposure dynamism could still chose to apply to shadow / mid / highlights
if it was me I would put dynamism to 0 and have an equal brightness in dark or light, I dont like going under trees and all of the sudden all highlights are overblown and lose details, and go out of trees and its better, too much changes at every movements

If you're using RR, then it may be displacement—it wasn't enabled with RR before the latest patch
The DLSS implementation is broken and you have to swap over to DLAA and back to whatever else you had before, on every boot up. It's been like this since release.
Otherwise you get blurry visuals.

Tried 4k dldsr but i'm on a 5070 Ti so even on dlss performance that was only enough to get around 20-30fps, which sucks for fg, the input lag was horrendous even on pad, i'll take 1440p dlss quality over that any day of the week

personally i feel like they incorporated most of ray tracing in RR, turning the actual ray tracing setting on or off has very little impact to performance and that feels quite counter intuitive comparing to other games..

RR is the only thing that makes this game have lighting because it actually turns on RTGI
so, game looks awful without RR

So basically games like Cyberpunk and Alan Wake 2 are using RR to enhance what they already have and CD just didn't develop proper lighting and is trying to use RR as a cure all?

so the biggest problem apparently is that everything is tied to their autoexposure system and a temporal jitter relating to it
autoexposure is also changing the GI
imo it's really dumb that RR is basically a whole different lighting mode. It leads to a whole bunch of confusion
