Works on the same principle, characters are rendered separately from the environment like most anime style games. We apply Reshade after deferred lighting shaders for env and grass (so characters aren't affected)
If you want to skip just UI, find the uberpost shaders then 'on_drawn' apply your Reshade effects

Kinda need both, GI has more presence but at the same time having correct "occlusion" via shadowing is a requirement.
Otherwise you end up with light leak and abysmal grounding because a bunch of materials lack shadowing

OK, GI will add bounced lighting but having a bright ass light source cast no shadows is also ASS
RTAO is probably the least important RT effect imo
GTAO and co do a pretty good job

film grain at 60FPS is going to be more noticeable than at 120
its also an issue I run into where it looks good in motion but once I take a pic, the image is just full of film grain

what is it useful for
Well when its good and subtle enough, it can (among other things) kinda trick your brain into perceiving the image as more realistic than it actually is. Since said brain is used to see it in all movies even if you don't consciously notice it.
And it can sometimes help a bit with some banding atifacts if I remember correctly.
yeah it reduces banding and can add a slight sharpening effect. i like it since it makes the image less "sterile"
Yes it can also add a very slight "roughness" to the image that can be perceived as more texture detail.
It is after all a result off the actual texture off photographic film. Even though it was/is close enough to smooth, it is after all a type of paper. It is slightly textured.
And it can have artistic intent behind it. It would for example be pretty weird to have a chaotic war film have a completely clean frame. Or it can be a historical evocation. Same thing : a movie set in the 1930s without any noticeable film grain would feel out of place.
In my expereince, dynamic vsoc was the cause of most of my bluescreens, but my setup is somewhat different from yours (570x, 5600x, B-Die DDR4 sticks).

Here’s what happened. Earlier I asked about the “ReShade before UI” option — I want it to skip the UI without affecting the character. I also tried using ReshadeEffectShaderToggler to skip only the UI, but it doesn’t seem compatible with RenoDX. It only works properly when I turn RenoDX off (which is kind of pointless lol), and because of pixel shader “pollution” the results aren’t stable across different scenes.
Forge explained a bit about how RenoDX and ReshadeEffectShaderToggler work, and after that I tried editing RenoDX to get the behavior I wanted. Since I’m not a programmer and basically have no real coding skills, I could only barely manage to do it. In the end I did get the effect I wanted, but the build produced a lot of yellow warnings (and I honestly don’t understand what they mean).
Anyway, what I’m getting at is: it seems like implementing this doesn’t actually need many code changes? All I did was follow Forge’s suggestion — I commented out the “grass/foliage deferred” section in the .cpp file, and then uncommented the “Uberpost” section.
So is it possible we could get a new option in a future update that keeps skipping the UI without skipping the character? Because I’m honestly not sure if I messed something up along the way, haha.
It already skips the UI and doesnt affect the character...?

I don't now. Feels like grass gets ao shimering in wuling where it wasn't before. But Valley IV is 100% fine so maybe it's the rain + ao + grain that makes me see shimering... Not sure.

I'm beyond satisfied. Texture pop-in is definitely more noticeable in DX11, but RenoDX is such a game-changer that there's no way I can go back without it.

however SK + texture caching with DX11 solved it
meanwhile VK gets cucked
oh i mean sure. but in this game i find hard to believe since its unity. id assume both renderers are the same since they have the same settings
It might have been related to the transparency removal mod I was using, which was the only mod installed at the time. After switching to another transparency mod and updating to the latest RenoDX from this forum, it seems noticeably better now.
Ok. I'm definitive. Full res GTAO definitely broke for me for apparent reason. This is making me crazy.
Currently using ArkfieldEnhancer with RenoDX and it worked splendidly until yesterday. Safe for reshade itself (wich I will do shortly) I have deleted and reinstalled everything, as well as forced shaders to recompile, but to no avail. It is especialy visible when ao is apllying on grass that is already in shadow. I'm not even certain the game as been patched recently, or If anyone else even has my problem. Still, any input would be welcome !
do the other settings work, like disabling AA? (asking for that one since its super noticeable)
