If you long press Home it's not gonna activate it
game is ass with their launcher anyway
i stop playing any rockstar games because of that
what that supposed to do
change your reshade hotkey
bro
i have done that
but i crash everytime i accidentally hit home because im so used to doing that for a million years
it binds reshade to insert instead of home
that shouldnt be happening
what reshade build are u using
u might need the renodx build
6.6.2
thats a old build tho
6.5
shortfuse doesnt update that anymore
ya cuz its customized for best compatibility with RenoDX afaik
ive used it for some games when newest reshade crashes
the fixes are all in 6.6 now or sumn
idk if it actually does anything but i dont have crashes in rdr2 when opening r* overlay
he recommends using 6.6+ for that reason
ah
im using 6.5.1.2 and it doesnt crash with the R* overlay
worth a shot
rdr2 is from 2018 anwyays idk if itll benefit from newer reshade
crazy how diff it looks at night
gamingtech would tell you native hdr is perfect

dat banding tho
this only works in DX12 I assume?
isnt there a debanding filter in the reshade effects?
yeah
debanding in post is bad, pretty much a last resort solution
and you have to be okay with reducing detail
though if it's sky only, there's depth tested ones that work fine enough
liliums dithering shader
Dis mf witnessing the RenoDX glory
How many cats do you have?

plotting to murder

yeah, I'm a fan of that as well. Default (white clip 100 & blowout 0) vs. white clip 40 & blowout 1
fr, at first i wasnt sure if the sun was supposed to be visible like that but it really looks nicer with blowout 1 so im using it even if its less "accurate"
Glad you like

How does raising blowout compare to lowering blowout restoration
good question, thats what i did for witcher yesterday..
should Hue Correction be on or off in this?
image retention on modern OLEDs seems like a meme, I've not babied my display at all and there's no sign of it after a few years of heavy usage, though the peak brightness has noticeably degraded in that time
i'm using mine for work, so no babying either but ui brightness above 200 just seems weirdly unnecessary
I tend to go a little above my general game brightness, so I'll often do 203 game/250 UI
it just depends on the UI and game, really, sometimes HUDs have a tendency to get "lost" in the scene, but if they don't then I won't raise the UI brightness
350 is nuts though
same
Does anyone here experience the bug of the weather instantly changing instead of smoothly transitioning? It's really ruining the immersion for me.
I had similar issues with instant day/night transitions when using DLSS/DX12, but reverting to the native TAA fixed it for whatever reason
Interesting...not really willing to give up dlss for this. What a strange bug.
yeah, it's bizarre and doesn't sound like it should be related at all, but it is what it is
nothing to do with Reno, I had that problem before the add-on was made
I play during the day and I turn up the brightness a bit so I donāt see my reflection lmao
Damn, yeah Iām not giving up DLAA for better day/night transitions lol
Load game with taa enabled, and change to dlss after loading save
Yes! Thanks man. That worked.
Wait...changing back to DLSS during the proper transition ruined it again
I'm using the in game settings to change to dlss hbu?
Yep, changing back to DLSS instantly ruins the lighting system. What the actual f*ck.
well it fixed my hair bug, dlss is buggy with dx12 in this game
Well, patiently waiting for vulkan reno to be released
My Arthur had a beard on his nose
why would this happen when the camera is facing 1 speciifc angle? it looks fine until i hit this one tiny spot where the campfire lighting totally dissapears, seems like odd culling?
Yes rockstar. This is the next gen update we were waiting for. Cool that PS4/xb1 owners don't have to pay for the upgrade tho
has anybody run into a situation with the rockstar launcher where it simply won't connect? I have no fucking clue why it hates me
having a problem that aligns with the technically illiterate in a rockstar game makes shit impossible to google
I was getting this constantly. launching the exe directly was working fine
unfortunately the thing this is mostly affecting is me trying to play gta4, just figured this channel made the most sense for asking
launching direct from the exe just boots it through steam which boots the rockstar launcher š
I've tried everything humanly possible I can think of. Port forwarding, DNS changes, VPN servers, clearing cookies, updating my account on the website, shit's just fucked
since I've played my rdr2 install before this problem, it works with their offline mode at least
but gta4 is fucked
Ya directly through exe was launching through steam/rockstar but worked better for me for some reason
And then it stopped working
no luck
what's weird is it can successfully sign me in with a clean install of the launcher, but then it fails to launch the game and after that I can't sign in again
I'm simply gonna have to steal the game I bought
there's no fucking way a successful workaround is to wipe the launcher's files in documents and then not interact with the cookie pop up
can't close it out, have to not click it
Isn't that a culling/screen space shadow image defect?
thought so, but that setting fixed it
setting it to 0.0 disables some shadows
Last time a similar thing happened to me, it was due to the system clock of all things - https://www.reddit.com/r/pchelp/comments/1ldjciu/how_to_fix_sorry_we_are_unable_to_handle_your/
it ended up being cookies
Time for a 3rd playthrough when RenoDX becomes available with Vulkan
damn the time and night change in this game can be so ugly. Everythings turns blue and the shift happens like in a second
Renodx looks beautiful tho
@novel ridge
Yeah itās a bug with DX12ā¦. A Vulkan version of RenoDX would get rid of that issue, without needing to resort to native TAA (I much prefer DLAA/DLSS)
Well I guess i have to go back to vulkan because it's unbearable
i have hdr enabled but the sliders in the menu arnt doing anything? i am using visual redemption and reshade 6.6.2 with addon support
i do also have scripthook, lml and asi loader. i saw somewhere earlier those are needed to load edited game files when i was looking for and answer to this
scripthook is what caused that issue for me. i know there's a specific version of scripthook that will work fine alongisde reno according to others.
you dont happen to know the version do you? i tried the 2 older scripthook versions from nexus but same problem
no. i just stopped using script hook as i barely use any mods so wasn't that consequential for me
oh is scripthook not required to get renodx working?
no š
ohh i thought i had read somehwere way up that it was along with lml and somethiong else lol ill try to remove it and see if that does it thanks!
nah. you only need the game set to dx12 and reshade with addons. that's it
just removed scripthook and that did it thanks alot lol
no prob š
i think someone mentioned that reno wasn't working for them until they installed dinput8.dll
which I think is from lemmy
idk
same, im just using stock HDR for now
Received a request for LUT strength for Vanilla SDR
Gotta rewrite stuff
Hey all I'm trying to use this and the game is crashing on launch for me. I have it set to Dx12 with the latest reshade w/addons. Am I missing something?
nvm I realized the graphics settings did not save and it was using vulkan still
Mod is mostly still a work in progress I think, I beleive Musa was waiting for the updated version of the game but it seems Rockstar isn't doing that now...
rockstar prolly is still doing it, just we dont know when itll release
It's "funny" that Rockstar did a current-gen version of the RDR that didn't really needed.
ehh, it kinda was needed
its just building off the Switch 1/PC codebase anyways, which Double Eleven worked on and released in early 2020-2022
double eleven did the new RDR port for switch 2/ps5/series x too
its not rockstar
Yeah, Rockstar is too busy with union busting and not releasing gta 6
if I understand correctly now it doesn't work anymore? I'm trying to get vulkan and hdr working but the reno addon sliders does nothing.
the renodx mods for rdr2 work only with dx12 api
Hi. I waited so much for a renodx for RDR2. Idk, the game HDR didn't please me much. I am glad this mod exists now!
I am using rage Scripthookv2 with lml and with the latest AsiLoader from the official Github. How I installed:
- I removed texture overhaul and other "Vulkan" mods from lml,
- I changed in game API to DX12 from VULKAN
- I dowloaded the reshade64 dll and renamed it to reshade64.asi
- I've put reshade64.asi and renodx-rdr2.addon64 In a Scripts folder inside RDR2 game folder (so like \Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\scripts)
- ASI loader would take care of loading reshade so I avoid conflicts with other dlls that are loading
- I still run all mygame asi mods except those I mentioned that need VULKAN.
I played a few hrs, tweaking renodx and going into the wilds, no issues for me., and those lights and sky and fires look awesome! (LG C2). Only a small personal issue, i like the somber mood like the original had+ the new lighting etc, for now I disabled that standard sRGB from renodx, and I also toned down the LUT a bit. It is awesome. Thanks again, sry for the long wall of text!

Very nice, glad you're enjoying it.
I'd be interested in some comparison screenshots with and without your mods/tweaks, if you have any. š
Idk how to do this, Im not versed..but if I enable/disable RenoXd Preset i have it like this (Idk if Discord is showing the *.jxl )
Is not doing it š .Sorry Idk how to show HDR photos.
Print button
Like this? Preset On vs preset off in reno?
It doesn't look like in game.If I look at the pic (in HDR) is more "muted in the pic than in game.. Well I tried. Thanks for trying to help me anyways..I'll just enjoy/tweak RenoDX more for now.
Interesting. Never tried letting asi loader handle reshade. I gave up trying to have mods and reno at the same time. Will do some tinkering later
I usually do it when I can for other games also, especially when multiple "loaders" race each other to hook the game. So I just use AsiLoader then rename all of them however I want usually, but with .asi extension..and I put them in scripts folder if i can, or leave in game root folder, depending..But I like to keep them in scripts...like here, I have DLSS Tweaks also and reshade, both handled by Ultimate AsiLoader.
oh damn didnt know it works for dlsstweaks as well. Imma check this out when i get home
Yea the dlssTweakConfig will complain that no game exee, but we dont care since it writes the settings in its ini anyways..thats all it does..So we can check the log (dlsstweaks.log) after we start the game, and it should be saying its hooked:

Interesting. I was having a lot of issues with scripthook V2 and Reno. Renaming to .asi for reshade and dlss tweaks, I've had a pretty solid experience free roaming for the past few hours. Will need to test in missions and then add my mods back one at a time. But this seems promising
I'll check with ab scripthook as well
they say use the latest ASI loader from github (may NOT work with really old asi mods) if using scripthook v2, then disable the interface overlay or whatever is called in scripthook ini.we dont really need it..read its somewhere in the first comments in the mod page
@flint crater how usable is this vs native hdr rn?
haven't run into any issues yet
Very good, I finished the game with this mod. Thank you Musa!
I have to try to mess around with it again but I was getting out of memory crashes.
might have something to do with scripthook
someone mentioned how they got it working
vanilla game
ill try that
Hi, I'm new here, where is the link for HDR Renodx?
Pinned post.
thanks
this makes my game look a thousand times better. although, is there any way to fix the blown out satchel menu and weapon wheel? it's a problem with the vanilla hdr implementation as well
doesn't look this bad when actually displayed on the monitor, but it's still much more blown out than it is with hdr off
Havenāt run into this issue. Any other mods installed?
Also post your graphics settings. Maybe thereās some specific combination of settings that triggers it
Then I can potentially fix it
...many
i'll run a clean install and then report back
Thanks
definitely still happening with a vanilla game. these are my settings
does your display support 2000 nits?
oh just saw you mentioned its a problem with vanilla
maybe I can fix it
they tonemapping shader outputs in gamma space in sdr and linear in hdr
so some stuff that runs after ends up in linear in hdr
so that might be what's going on there
sadly not, it's an hdr400 oled display
rewriting stuff
Abandoned DX12 Beta Build 7:
- not very well tested with motion blur off, but still seems to work fine
- not all tonemap shaders done yet
- mod overrides the in-game settings
Changes:feat(rdr2): overhaul tonemap, sliders, defaults, presets
i'm curious, why is motion blur required?
It probably works without it, just havenāt really tested
Well I tested a little
And it worked fine
It used a different tonemap shader with motion blur off
ah, i see
is this Vulkan or DX12?
Dx12
willing to patreon a Vulkan mod anytime
I tried that first but I couldnāt get a working decompilation
Damn, a Vulkan version of this mod would feed familiesš©
I have an Aorus FO27Q3 OLED. These are the specs in HDR:
In Windows HDR calibration, the correct brightness value for me was 470
So is this the "correct" value to put in Peak Brightness in the Reshade Preset (470)? Like, is the rule of thumb to always put the same as we calibrated in Windows?
I'm confused about this since my monitor reaches 1000 nits in small objects on the scene (2% window)
š
then you shouldn't set the peak brightness value to 2000 nits. just use the default reno setting.
then what should i set it to? setting it to 400 makes highlights not look punchy enough imo (and also doesn't really fix the weapon wheel issue)
apologies for the ignorance, completely new to hdr stuff
if you're in true black 400 mode then use 470 or whatever exact value you get in windows calibration
but if you're in the 1000 mode then 1038 or whatever exact value you get
i seem to get a value of 2110 with the windows hdr calibration app
i'm not sure how that's possible lol
probably have some tonemapping mode set on your display
Regarding this piece of info
My monitor have HDR Peak 1000 mode and maximum luminance is set at the same value in HDR calibration app and and some games in Reno set the highlights to 1038 but after closing the game and opening again it returns to 1000 again
Is there a problem? Why is this happening?
Windows is really finicky with the icc profiles. Sometimes it doesnāt load them at all. When that happens it then defaults to whatever value it finds in the displayās EDID.
So it shouldnāt have any noticeable effect?
Or do I need to set manually every time I install RenoDX?
1000 vs 1038 is basically nothing but ya just set it to the correct value once on install and youāre good to go
you should change ur game settings for renodx then, if u only can hit 400 or 1000 nits peak brightness, dont set renodx peak brightness to 2000 nits
well like i mentioned, i get a value of 2110 peak brightness during the windows hdr calibration, and i can definitely tell the difference between a value of 1000 and 2000 ingame
so i'm not really sure what's going on there
could you elaborate on this, if you don't mind?
what display do u have?
there could be a monitor setting thats changing the peak brightness or artificially boosting it via tonemapping
i have a 27GS95QE-B from LG
have it on game mode 1, hdr on, brightness set to 100, and peak brightness set to low
Some of the monitorās picture settings
hows it look with peak brightness set to high?
not very different, let me see what value i can reach with that setting
might get more ABL but it might fix the weirdly bright highlights
according to rtings its about 1200nits
EOTF tracking is aids with it set to high
The chart is fucked
High
Setting to low has good EOTF tracking
ah
yeah, i believe i was recommended to set it to low by a reddit post
won't lie, i'm definitely not very knowledgeable about these specifics lmao
still learning
i think whatever number windows is reporting is a bit off
i dont think your display is close to 2000 nits actually being displayed, it caps around 600 or 1000 depending on peak brightness setting
windows hdr calibration is just stupid sometimes
or me even being able to tell the difference while changing the settings ingame
u have run windows hdr calibration, right?
u should maybe run it again and try lowering the peak brightness sliders a bit and the min brightness slider
idk if the min brightness slider should always be set to 0 or slightly higher tbh cuz i feel like i cant see the image even if its slightly above 0
0 is definitely the correct calibration for mine, since i can still see the image when its above
guess it's because my display is hdr true black
but anyway, i'll try lowering the peak brightness
to 1200 then?
i have it set up to 2110 currently
last question: is the game brightnes value subjective, or should i use something as reference to calibrate it?
@flint crater sorry for nagging you again lol
I had a similar issue to xuru where in windows hdr calibration I had to set the peak to ~1470 for the box to blend in
But I read somewhere that you should calibrate your peak the same as the 2%
Is that correct? Iām sorry but Iām relatively new to this stuff as well
My monitor is FO32U2P btw
one day musa will bless us with vk rdr2
You folks are using reflex in DX12?
Found out that disabling it reduces stuttering dramatically
Depends on if youāre using the peak 1000 mode or the 400 mode
I found it counter productive when playing with a 60 FPS cap. Just introduced micro stutter. Weird thing is it doesn't happen when on Vulkan
reflex and triple buffering seem to cause microstutter on dx12 in my experience
I use peak 1000 as itās the only thing remotely accurate on the monitor
then 1000 it is
seems like people are having issues with windows calibration anyway
guess you can use lilium's test pattern generator shader to verify
Vanilla HDR 200 paper white / RenoDX Defaults / RenoDX Match SDR
Vanilla HDR / RenoDX Defaults
on woled monitors the peak brightness is basically itm on the white pixel
every monitor does that
low means no extra boost for the white pixel
also LG monitors dont support HGIG, you need to force maxcll with liliums addon to emulate that, or you get roll off highlights like the graph shown
what's better default settings or match SDR settings?
defaults maybe
match sdr looks bad
Game crashes on out of memory error while running in DX12 with the renodx mod beta 7 (reshade 6.6.2). Seems to work just fine when I remove renodx.
Btw. to clarify, it crashes when the game menu loads, I can't even get into the game proper, just FYI.
I had the same issue and it stopped
but I also have no idea why
i've been able to play the game both with and without lennys mod loader
only thing I can think of is that I changed the reshade overlay button from home to end
couldn't do it in game without crashing so I went to the ini
For me it only crashes if I change the renodx mode (SDR Mode, ...)
I may try to remap the reshade key, but I think it crashed even without me touching anything.
just pack an ini next to the mod

Hello, i wonder if this is compatible with
?
Crashed for me once i tried to run benchmark, i changed the button and it worked. Could be something to do with "home" also bringing up rockstar overlay
Works for me DX12 with motion blur off
maxed out dlss quality preset m
I thought motion blur off might be an issue based on Musa's pin. Also it crashed even without me touching anything.
Works for me with motion blur off, but i just played prologue
I also have some mods loaded
Wat mods u using
Some mentioned on pcgamingwiki page
Stutter fix, graphic bug fix, load straight into game
"Stutter fix" it just increases buffer size for gpu
1st person animation fixes
Nothing global
And flydigi controller software does something to the game that enables its variant of adaptive triggers
similar to the weapon wheel, hdr seems to make the credit scenes incredibly blown out
its like hdr breaks whenever those specific screen filters get applied to the game
I can't get lml to work on dx12 at all
@flint crater where your patreon at for a vulkan port
unfortunately not
about half or more of the great mods require lenny's mod loader
tried vulkan but the decomp wasn't working
he would become millionaire in no time if he Patreon a Vulkan mod
kinda onlyfans money shit
maybe Lenny himself can do it
dude hasn't updated the mod in 3 years haha
I would pay his ass too
I think you may be able to get LML working on dx12 is you don't use any texture mods, but man is that shitty
funny thing is, I thought i had this game modded out the ass (all asi were working) but none of my texture ones were and i didn't even notice haha
game kinda looks good even without texture mods but looks like jaw dropping with
tbh Nigeez texture pack works pretty fine
kinda stuck with it forever
it's too much of an hustle
LML been working great over the years on Vulkan with very little flaws
giving up PDO is absolutely crushing
also the euphoria mods
love AEM
a friend of mine is working since almost a year to a Reworked vegetation project
got a sneak it's gonna be terrific
why does my game works fine with LML on dx12 and with renodx?
is this somethin that does not suppose to happen?
or am i reading the conversation wrong
you probably don't have LML installed correctly or you aren't using texture mods
it's easy to install it wrong
hmmm
its in there
well, i definitely load straight into game with mod
that skips videos and main menu
these are what i use
yeah man i dunno
"works on my machine"
it works fine, there is just a microstutter on DX12 so most people prefer vulkan
it feels way smoother on vulkan for me, and u cant use high res texture mods on dx12
thats the only real limitation, the high res texture mods
other mods work fine
some texture packs make the difference
can't play without it anymore
which version of lml
and what version of version.dll/dinput8
it works with Lenny's Simple trainer version.dll instead of the scripthook one
took so much trial and error to figure it out for me
so like none of the new asi loaders work for me in dx12 only that one
Newest version? Idk why u have so many issues man, LML and other mods work fine with DX12, as long as they arenāt texture mods that need more VRAM than the games default limits.
its the scripthookni teraction not lmk
interaction
I have scripthook too⦠no problems lol
yeah whoch dll
Idk who told you mods donāt work on DX12 but theyāre wrong
no one told me that
Then why do u keep saying it?
but legit fresh install lml combined with katest scripthookncrashing on load
swotch to other dll and it works fine
U def did something wrong man, idk what to tell you
Did you download scripthook from nexus mods?
problems on dc12 are legit widespread esepcially texture mods
Iām not saying DX12 doesnāt have issues
I stopped using it cuz of the micro stutter and I wanted texture mods
But 90% of mods and script hook work fine with DX12
well u got it working so I guess its fine i dunno what to tell you it was the dll from scripthook
I got it working*
Yeah but where did u download scripthook from?
If it was from nexusās mods, thatās why, that build doesnāt work with Rdr2
U need it straight from the dev-c website
the newest asi loaders from GitHub (often recommended online) domt work
Those are generic and afaik not intended for RDR2s , you want the specific rdr2 oneā¦

yeah man thats what i fonally got
and it worked
well i got the version dll from lennys simple trainer but its like the same thing I think
i think i use this one xd
it loads asi just fine
@flint crater are there any plans to look into this?
some time this month
awesome, thank you
yeah a lot of conflicting guides online, and ALL dlls work with Vulkan, so there is confusion
most modders just use Vulkan
experienced mod author here: use the scripthook v2 linked above, alongside thirteenag's latest asi loader
alexander blade's scripthook works fine too, mostly, but it has some issues with memory pools resetting in cities, which v2 fixes
absolutely do not use version.dll, it's extremely outdated and causes a few gameplay bugs
version.dll's primary function is to enable red dead online assets to be used in some singleplayer mods, which this mod already accomplishes without any issues https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/5304
as for the issues with dx12, i am running many, MANY mods, and have no issues booting into dx12
the game will absolutely crash in dx12 mode if you are running outdated mods with poorly compressed textures though (think whyem's, or big unoptimized upscale mods)
although, i should mention that i've also heard of people crashing on dx12 even when they are running optimized mods, so i'm not sure what that's about
i have an organized modding guide document with some mod recommendations, if anyone is interested https://docs.google.com/document/d/17zuWd0_VE9SBEoa4-Vd3pKaaFphxaqFfoTRTWMstU1E/edit?tab=t.0

sorry for the big spam lmao, just wanted to clear some of the doubts people were having here
thanks so much man, it's very cofunshing the red dead scene
i have mods that dont work on DX12 ? lol the game wont launch. all mods are up to date. so yes. some mods don't work with dx12. idk what one it is tho. or maybe its a - these mods together wont work. idk
edit: xurus post above, i just read it. its def the texture mods i have on, tho they are update to date ones.
what's this thirteentag loader?
I mean where can i download it
nvm found it
@teal pawn is anything from "fixes" archive can cause issues with any of the stuff i use?
- does latest reno posted above work with vulcan. (i was in the game playing but then it crashed while reloading a save)
- What's the way to get adjusted reno settings to activate. opening pause and map didn't do anything. (reloaded save to try that was when it crashed(could be something else)
thanks!
Yeah afaik thereās no way around that, dx12 just has smaller memory limits than Vulkan so the texture mods wonāt load
some texture mods work
i cant get terrain texture overhaul tonwork which sucks as its like the best one
yeah, terrain texture overhaul is just poorly optimized
it uses the bc7 compression format for its textures, which heavily increases the memory usage and starts causing spawn issues
and on dx12, it just immediately crashes the game
i've spoken with the creator a while ago, and he's not interested in converting his textures to bc1/bc3 at all
just a shame
any answer on this lol thanks!
renodx is for dx12 only, sadly
could you just run it through this compression on your own (not saying you, but someone could?) obviously probably couldn't share anywhere publically since it's not your work
it's also like more of these texture packs should have really release 2k (or less) versions which are massive for performance and don't even change the texture visually that much
4k looks better but not worth bugginess at all
i am looking into this now. i am opening it in OpenIV. gonna see if i an convert one of them to 1 or 3 or 5 depending on what it is
actully i guess they are already 2k or less on the mod page
"Textures are completely remade, not upscales.
Albedo and Normal maps are 2k.
AO, Roughness and Heightmaps are 1k. (some from main archive are 2k)
Vanilla is 1k/512."
yeah, it's just resaving the textures
don't use openiv, it's extremely outdated for rdr2 modding
codex has been the only modding tool worth using for a few years now
nice thanks!
is CodeX behind some dudes patron discord? thats all i can find
unfortunately, yeah
it was up on archive.org for a while, but it has been since taken down
i got it from the discord 4 free lol. but its called codewalker and seems to only work with gtav legacy/enhanced?
ill look on the discord for a codex
nvm its def a different program lol
well ill need to pay the $5 fo it. but i think i converted them? just need to repackage them to a .ytd
just open .ytd and export all
put in the texture converter and a .bat that says to Convert only files containing "abte" (Albedo) to BC1 and everything else like normals to BC3.
It does that near instantly.
Then repackage and back in the mods folder.
Does that sound right? and i wonder why he didn't want to do that. will prob take a bit of time exporting (and repackaging?), but not an insane or impossible amount of time.
also are we certain this would allow it to work in dx12? lol
also it went from 109mb to 91mb (after exporting from the .ytd) comparing the og to converted. back and forth perfectly overlapped. i cannot tell a difference at all. so it would prob lower the file size by about 16.5% if i continued.
12.6GB to 10.52GB (estimate)
also sorry kinda forgot this is for RenoRX lol
Hi,
Is the HDR mod properly supported these days? I tried it over a month ago, but I couldn't launch my game; I just got a black screen. I should mention that I don't have any mods installed; I only want to use RenoDX.
Thanks for your help.
did you change the game to DX12? according to the install instructions, the game requires you to set it to DX12 in the settings, you cant use the default Vulkan graphics API cuz RenoDX doesnt support it.
mod works perfectly fine, its entirely supported
Yes, yes, I have everything I need, DX12...
Are you using it on R2D2 RenoDX?
@white oyster
None at the moment, actually. I wanted to know if it was fully supported since I couldn't launch my game a while ago...
I'm going to use the latest addon version, 6.5.2 I think. I don't remember it offhand, but I have the latest one. Is that okay with this one, or do I need a special one like you asked?
6.7 is newest
that one is rly old
u also need to specificially download Reshade with addon support
this is the one you need
make sure you choose the RDR2.exe, and set it to DX12 (not Vulkan!)
u mightve installed it for Vulkan by accident last time, it prolly defaulted to that
Okay, I'll try that right away then. I'll post a message in a bit to confirm... Thanks a lot.
@flint crater Thank you so much for your amazing work. RenoDX should be the industry standard when it comes to HDR gaming.
I followed the instructions step by step and it worked flawlessly the first time I launched the game.
Nice
Some people had crashes
I used to get them too back when I had my old shitty cpu and ran
It works great on my PC (RTX 5080 - 9800X3D)
Do you have an idea on when it will be out of beta?
There are some visual bugs here and there but nothing major
Idk finishing the mod is gonna be tedious but for the most part it works
It looks way better than the native HDR implementation that Rockstar did, I really appreciate the work you have done.
I'm new to HDR gaming, recently got this 4K OLED.
Which OLED did you get
ASUS PG32UCDM
Had a 1080P IPS monitor before I got this one lol
What is the best HDR setting? My monitor has both HDR 10 and Dolby Vision HDR.
Don't bother with DV for gaming, or on Windows in general.
For the settings, unsure. Try asking in #šhelpdesk and tag @brandoudio
All right that's good to know. Thank you
Np!
During the Reshade setup, when it asks which effects to install there will be 2 effects that are pre-selected already. SweetFX can be disabled, do I need to install it or not?
Unselect all, just select lilium HDR analysis
Thank you for responding. Once i'm in-game do I need to enable any of the lilium HDR related settings? They are disabled by default
Nah, you can ignore those and disable the default add-ons. You just need Reno active
Lilium HDR Analysis is optionally recommended
Thanks everyone.
I love my UCDM. Best mode by far is the HDR 1000 mode with dynamic brightness boost disabled.
HD400 True Black just looks flat ime
Do you have the same monitor? I've been using the HDR 400 True Black mode, which one is the HDR 1000 mode?
I can select Gaming, Cinema, Console and HDR 400 True Black mode
Console
I have the PG27UCDM
I did some research and HDR 400 True Black was supposed to be the most accurate one, is that misinformation or something?
Or is it down to personal preference
Both have accurate EOTF tracking
HDR400 is a hair brighter in bright scenes, but misses all specualar detail.
I've tried it so many times wanting it to be good, even in day scenes.
It just sucks
after hours I have a pretyt good modlist working on dx12, if not somewhat unstable
i think i am at the absolutely limit of dx12 unfortunately but i have all the good mods imo
I got Cyberpunk today and installed the RenoDX mod. Started at daytime in the desert (nomad beginning) and it looked really impressive to me with my current HDR400 setup
it totally does and don't be fooled by upcoming qd oleds either
they have the same exact issues
they now have what they call "EOTF Boost"
but it's basically a hack and doesn't fix the dimming problem entirely
So I should be using the ''console'' mode instead of HDR 400?
LG has the better HDR monitors and really have for two years now
color volume advantage is super overrated too
for qd oled
tandem oled is much closer, I think I am going to get the 39 inch 5k2k
LG
I just did the Windows HDR calibration with the console mode, it maxed out at 1100 nits. Is that correct?
It hit 1090 for sure but shouldn't I be rounding it up?
I am re-doing the calibration and mine just hit 1060 as well lol, it literally hit 1090 minutes ago
I wouldn't overthink it and realistically 1000 flat is a likely more compatible value.
my monitor came with it's own edid
I kinda prefer just using Custom Resolution Utiliity (CRU)
the windows calibration works fine, but seems to be buggy with multiple monitors
Iāve tried 1000 mode on my Samsung OLED and it looks like dogshit
It dims heavily
Canāt speak for your monitor specifically but Iām pretty sure itās the same for all OLED monitors
can confirm
heavy ABL or dim highlights, pick your poison lmao
400 is fine for me since I play at 100 game brightness
why not 203?
I find 203 eye searing at night
ahh
do you need to adjust other settings when lowering the game brightness?
I did some testing with both ''Console Mode'' and ''HDR 400 True Black'' and I gotta say that the HDR 1000 mode indeed looked like dogshit. I'll stick with HDR 400 True Black
I tried, but now the problem is that RenoDx isn't compatible with Optiscaler. I have a washed-out image, unless I've configured something incorrectly? I'm wondering if anyone uses Optiscaler with RenoDx and it works for them, so I know the problem is on my end...
I did in some other games
With SK as well
Yes, I use it in lots of games too, but I don't think it's compatible with RDR2. I could be wrong, or it might be my mistake. We'll have to see if anyone else uses it in that game.
No
Unless youāre on lcd
Lower game brightness on lcd can look like a soupy mess because of poor ability to show shadow detail
Flat image that's just bright for nothing or 1K mapped image that pops.
And it's like 10-15% brighter full screen? For 60% dimmer highlights
I'm an official HDR 400 hater after trying to like it for it's brightness gains in daylight scenes, I just don't see it in practice and by the numbers.
hi Lecram , I'd like to ask about the HDR performance of this monitor ( ASUS PG32UCDM ) . What does it look like? I have a Samsung S90D TV with a peak brightness of 1700 nits, and the HDR looks amazing. Can computer monitors offer similar performance to a TV ?
I have the PG27UCDM
But Rtings has the S90D at 1190 nits at 10% compared to the 32UCDMs 446
Monitors are still and will be a step down
That's true, but I increased the brightness in the services menu.
I don't know why computer monitors perform so poorly compared to TVs. I own two TVs, a Samsung S90D and an LG C4 / 55inch , They look amazing in HDR .
Which one you prefer ?
I think it's mainly size
but it seems like monitors are slowly gaining momentum
at least I feel like we're starting to see some progress
if something like gsync pulsar comes to oled monitors that will be hug
huge
it's not for the WOLEDs especially the new tandem ones
the peak brightness between qd oled and LG are similar, but the WOLED has a much better EOTF curve
You lose SO much pop in dark scenes though like astronomical amount
A/B test a darker game and my money is that you never go back to trueblack 400 again
I dunno, it's like you are trading the dimmer daylight scenes for "barely better than SDR" low APL scenes
and it's not like trueblack 400 is even that great in daylight scenes
even this game like go to st denis at night the laterns look so much better HDR 1000
But what's the point of ''pop in'' if the rest of the image looks like dogshit, @flint crater confirmed this as well. Maybe it looks better on your monitor
HDR 1000 looks really bad on my monitor and DisplayHDR 400 True Black doesn't
HDR 1000 does not look liek shit on low apl (dim) scenes
it looks way better than hdr black 400 actually
hdr 1000 lanterns pop a lot more looks better in person than this screenshot
hdr 400
I believe you but during daytime it doesn't look good at all based on my testing
I loaded into Cyberpunk and the desert literally looked white
And DisplayHDR 400 True Black does not look bad in dark scenes
yeah you are trading being "Wowed" in darker scenes compared to consistency, how it's always been
purists like Musa probably prefer more accuracy
but like hdr trueblack makes HDR overall on the monitor extremely underwhelming
The abl is to much on peak 1000
like it's never great at that setting no matter how dim the scene is
Get extremely dim on day time
On video games
not every video game, but yes. My opinion is that HDR is most important for darker scenes though
cyberpunk at night etc
Both RDR2 and Cyberpunk look breathtaking on max settings + DisplayHDR 400 True Black with RenoDX
yeah i might try it out
i tested it in doom eternal (a really dark game) and it looks easily 5x worse
That game tends to be dark indeed
yeah so does suprising ones
god of war ragnarok
average apl is super dim on that game
but this year just go with one of the lg tandem oleds and stop worrying about the problem that's what im doing
Haven't played God of War since I sold my Playstation years ago before I made the switch to PC gaming lol
samsung does it on purpose these panels can be pushed
they don't do it for their tvs either it's just monitors probably trying to reduce burn in
Want to do the same but no money anymore and i dont want to work
Lmao
yeah it's kinda nuts but displays are the upgrade path for PCs this year
gpus and ram and cpu are way too much now
Which GPU and CPU do ya'll got?
9800x3d and 5090 haha
NICE
5070ti 9800x3d
9800X3D and 5080
yeah luckily i upgraded last year
Same
the pricers are insane now
So I've heard
or resident evil 2
Trueblack 500 on the newer oled monitors might be nice. The highlights of 1000 are just so nice though
I can't give them up, if it was easier to toggle the mode on and off...
Right now I use tb400 if itm is the only option. If not I use 1000
yeah it's also just like yeah, when it dims hard it looks pretty bad but the same scene mixes and changes all the time
highly depends on your monitor
mine has an EOTF boost mode and theres very minimal ABL dimming, and it only applies to webpages in my experience
i never see it in games
These settings typically cause clipped higlights.
Iām more than happy to accept that for less ABL dimming. What do clipped highlights even look like, do they just lose some saturation and look a bit more white? Fine trade off for me.
I've tried preset M extensively with RDR2 and I think there are major issues compared to K
Has anyone tested it in depth?
There is a weird effect on trees which makes them less dense
Why not use the ''recommended'' preset? That's what I use on every game.
I assume you're talking about DLSS
what issues have you faced? I still am on k at the moment
kek bro i'm doing testing I use what I want for experiments
try to override M and check the vegetation
it looks wrong, less dense
All right brah
Oh i know what you mean. My main issue with l and m compared to k is they've kinda overcorrected. The game has a quite soft look with taa. K kinda cleared up the fogginess. L and M look a little oversharpened for my taste. I have dlss sharpening ingame at lowest on the slider
ya but trees are affected in a weird way
It almost looks like thy loose branches I swear
I mean not only oversharpening
Is this with distant trees? Might just be lod shenanigans. I can't speak for my end because I use a mod to extend the lod
ya been using 120+ mods broke the game and even LML plenty of times
but I tried with no mods M
weird. I can check on my other pc later. That should be a vanilla game
that's the effect of the profile M with trees in some games,
#š¬lounge message
#š¬lounge message
Yes, exactly that!
M and L preset are both very oversharpened, theyre not made for DLSS balanced, quality or DLAA @wet kindle. you are better off using K for quality or DLAA, M for Performance and L for Ultra Performance
theres also weird boiling effects in RT stuff altho thats not rly an issue in rdr2
i also had a weird bug with M where if the camera was still for more than 5-10 seconds weird black dots would appear and start growing
i think some issues with motion vectors
Yeah, some games M does look better though. RDR2 has oversharpened DLSS by default I think. I haven't really noticed any Preset M related problems in this game, but I have to pay attention to the trees next time. If you use the "recommended" settings from Nvidia preset K is used for quality and above and that must be why as the improvement is case by case.
Rdr 2 sharpening slider for dlss won't work from dlss 3.xx
so weird. I went to vulkan because i kept getting crashes and was using rtx hdr for awhile. didnt find it as pleasant as reno
tried using reno and dx12 again, now my game wont load
š so difficult to get proper hdr like jesus
ya modding this game is a nightmare
for a while it just wouldn't start up at all for me
now it works
vulkan forces exclusive fullscreen and disables hdr every time you alt tab so if I ever did get the mod working in vulkan it would still be a nightmare to develop
Yeah I read you need to manually run a program to disable sharpening each time
it totally is, a guy in here had a good guide though.
Basically each texture mod you use makes the game that much more unstable, and I think any mods that unlock online shit like I have the navy revolver right now and I think it by itself crashes my game
ya I got rid of mods entirely, maybe I'll add back the dualshock buttons and adaptive triggers mods
I liked using the online unlockers for gun tricks
i still wanna hold out hope for a vulkan renodx but it seems like more trouble than its worth
the game really plays poorly imo without the ones that help Arthur not move terrible enhanced player animations
PDO as well
too bad rockstar cant fix the microstutter
movement speed complete and the one that lets you run in camp
I think I could probably play with just a few gameplay mods but i keep trying to push it because there are so many good mods (in theory) for the game
it was really bad for me, but with a few of the performance mods it's much better. Not sure what CPU you are on, but I also had to update my 9800x3d because a windows update broke how 3D cache worked in games
ST denis on horse still stutters occasionally probably can't be fixed
honestly more of a headache than any bethesda games in terms of modding
at least now its so developed that you only crash if you're not careful
yeah exactly
they are 10x better than they used to be because you actually play the damn game instead of constantly modding it
i remember back then all of the fallouts was diagnosing which mod out of the 30 you just installed was causing issues
Yeah Fallout 4 Magnum Opus is peak on wabbajack. Probably better ones now but try it out if you're in the mood for fallout
doesnt help that rockstar hates modding afaik no never getting support there
i did new vegas again last year.
it blew my mind how i never crashed
rumor on the street is they are releasing dlc for RDR2 this year which I assume will coincide with a dx12 RT upgrade
until i started installing shitty npc mods that looked nice but broke the game
They finally put Red Dead online to bed so probably trying to put a dlc out to make a few milly
goddamnit. this is my first playthrough, and while i like it, i don't know if this game is something id replay until like years after
The missions really are super linear it's a popular and almost meme worthy criticism of the game but once I heard it it's so true
im on a 5800x3d and 4080 and its pretty bad, vulkan fully fixes it so im just using RTX HDR for RDR2 now
^ same except 9800x3d
thats rare for new vegas, just FYI lol
like on a chase mission you can't even take out the wagon how you want to, you have to catch up to it and lasso them or wahtever
i still get stutteers
even with my premade viva new vegas modpack i crashed 2x in 34hrs of playing
which is rly good but the vanilla game crashes a lot more
i tried using special k hdr
it looked ALOT nicer than rtx hdr
but it gave me worse of a performance hit
yeah
the immersion comes from the open world itself
but the missions are classic rockstar
except its slow af in the beginning then it becomes go here and shoot there
damn rly i find rtx hdr looks pretty good so maybe i need to try special k
i think it handled the gamma alot better, though it was alot darker
not worth the hassle though imo, you need to configure dvxk thru profile inspector
still can't decide between 4k DLAA Preset K or M they both kinda look different but damn even on a 4090 in some scenes it can drop below 60 fps easily with preset M
I kinda think all inverse tonemappers look the same, they do look pleasing to me though
you have to adjust rtx hdr the sliders
The missions were more open-ended in their older titles that is the irony
like you had a target and could kill them in the street, when they got in the car making them crash whatever
really hoping they took the criticism to heart for gta 6, but i personally think it will be a bad game
M has many graphical issues K all the way on RDR2, especially for DLAA
trees branches look bad
I wasn't a huge fan of GTA 5 but after seeing what they did with RDR2 (my favorite game of all time) I think that GTA 6 will be amazing
flydigi apex controller has it's own adaptive triggers for RDR2
works quite good
Wanna say to be sure you are using dlss tweaks to manually overwrite the dll because it automatically reverts otherwise
I need to test mlre but didn't realize it was doing that
I saw some crazy ghosting on palm trees in st denis om preset M but realized i was on the OG dll from like four years ago haha
^^ And enable auto exposure. I know model K can get some artefacts without it enabled. Haven't played long enough with l and m to know if this is still needed
L and M have forced Auto Exposure built-in
@flint crater
this is much better, more contextual
THE ONLY SOLUTION TO MAKE VIBRATION AND ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS WORK TOGETHER THAT HELPED ME.
Well, i spend a couple of days to find solution to problem when adaptive triggers work in the game fine, but no vibration even with the game setting turned on. I clicked on every damn button in DSX, firewall and other stuff but nothing. Im currently using windows 11 and DSX + DLC.
- Go to DSX - Settings - Danger Zone ( red button) - Reset App Settings. ( idk why but it worked for me only when i did that)
- After you restored DSX, go to Settings - Networking - Incoming UDP - turn ON this option ( Only this option, dont touch outgoing UDP it should be off )
- Windows defender may block the game's access to settings file, so check windows security log, in my case game lost vibration and triggers when defender blocked Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings\ action. ( This action has been blocked by the administrator. ). Allow this action.
- Run the game as administrator.
In case it matters, my Steam settings in controller tab are:
Vibration - enabled
PlayStation controller support - disabled
Steam input for Xbox controllers - disabled
And of course, DualSense should display in Steam as an Xbox 360 controller
it magically worked for me, so i thought maybe it can help someone else here boysss
Now i fully enjoy adaptive triggers, vibration and all this stuff and its amazing. Thanks a lot to author!
hope I can help someone, wish you all the best!
it works wirelessly
with triggers and audio to haptic features
i hit 40fps frequently in gta 5 enhanced lol and its fine with frame gen, but cuz rdr2 has no frame gen its a bit tougher
ive got a 4080 lol
you could try smooth motion. although i do remember making it too blurry in rdr2 compared to other games, but it was when smooth motion had just become available. it likely has gotten better since then.
yeah its fine, i dont rly need it, i can hit 80fps in rdr2 even with M preset cuz theres no RT, but gta 5 enhanced with FOSA and NVE fully maxed out can be rly hard to run
I tried smooth motion in KCD2 recently and it looked quite bad
in gta enhanced i finished it a while ago i think i was always getting around 80 - 95 fps at 4k DLAA but i only had renodx installed so i wonder how intensive NVE would be and other mods
for rdr2 i decided to use preset M i was getting low 50s in the worst case scenario in strawberry town at thunderstorm weather but dropping the water physics quality slider by one notch was enough to get it immediately over 60 fps lol, overall after testing both M and K a lot i kinda prefer preset M more i just love how clear the foliage looks
its mostly FOSA that hurts my FPS, it adds thousands of trees and foliage in gta 5 is poorly optimized
RDR2 was when they really optimized the foliage, itll be crazy to see gta 6s level of foliage across the map and see how far modders can take it for fun
damn i should check my water physics slider
Just curious, is there other games in which dsx is worth using (games which dont have native adaptive triggers / haptic supp)
honestly no idea, but they promise to release virtual audio device update that will make work haptics wirelessly on native games just like they do with a wire
current audio capture to haptics is not as precise
Hm ic interesting
I guess if you want to use rumble to haptics feature - sure, you can use it in any game
but in some cases the rumble is overwhelming
like i tried baldurs gate 3
and it just shakes
i figured it wasnt worth it
for this game
there should be native haptics and adaptive triggers but they just didnt bother on PC
even some rumble is disabled on PC if you use dual sense, there is also a mod for it and DSX
anyway i still have my flydigi apex 4
YOu can also configure triggers in any way you want in DSX
If you play a shooter and want to simulate recoil - you can do this
but it wont be contextual
Did u try lowering the intensity
Also ig for games which mods were made for dsx giving dsx game info. Dsx works p well yeah?
Bg3?
Yes in BG3 they were present on PS5
I see š„²
On PC they just made brand-agnostic controller support
As for DSX mods - yes, at least it works well on RDR2
the triggers are contextual
there is a feedback when you draw and holster your gun
and light bar is also reactive
I wish someone could make a mod for BG3 and DSX š
it generaly plays very well on controller, simply due do clean UI
TBH I tried to use DX12 but the game won't load at all, don't matter any I do hashda
and with Vulkan I have no performance issues either, so what Im using is Vulkan and this mod
If reno sometime would come to Vulkan I would be rlly happy.
Willing to pay for develop if necessary as wel
I'm here willing to Patreon it anytime
if you Reno guys would decide to make it even under paywall I'm sure many of us would happily pay
its less of an issue of someone willing to do it vs Vulkan still being a pain with the reno dev kit
@slow hinge did u try haptics over BT (For native haptics / adapter trigger game). Just curious
Yes for horizon forbidden west - still not as good and precise
Next beta release is supposedly making it as good as native
hm ic , les see
It kinda works right now, but you can tell even by swinging spear it's just not on the same level š
the "woosh woosh" thing the controller does in native mode is just more precise
Triggers work on the same level though
fyi this mod does absolutely nothing for Vulkan lol, the dev only made it work for DX12
hello is beta build 7 the latest>? and any other recommendations for HDR?
Dsx duelsense emulation?
Also the trigger mod works great but unfortunately it doesnāt add haptics. Just triggers :(
Still gonna keep useing it though
For vulkan I just use black floor fix 2.2 emulation. Addresses most of my complaints for day time. But it does not hold a candle to Reno when comparing night time
Because for RDR you emulate 360 controller, but there is still rumble so it's okay
Audio to Haptics that currently captures sound from your sound device and sends it to Dual Sense to simulate haptics
I messed around with that a bit but Iāll need to tune it more I think
Feel like it has a delay
how do u do that ?
Use SDR black floor emulation and set processing cut off to your paper white
what is that? how do i install it? googling it jusdt shows me stuff for other games
Part of liliums shaders
did u just add this to ur reshade-shaders folder or did u need to do other stuff too?
https://github.com/EndlesslyFlowering/ReShade_HDR_shaders/releases/tag/2025.12.14
cuz ive al;ready got that part
Yeah enable the specific HDR black floor fix shader and adjust to your setup
is it normal for it to say (error) like that
i dont think im in hdr mode rn so thats prolly why
^^
wtf never seen that before
why is it green
@river willow how do u stop the game from automatically disabling hdr mode when u alt tab
I don't think there's a fix. HDR on Vulkan requires exclusive full screen. Alt tab switches to borderless. I just hit alt enter when I tab back in to switch back
what a stupid game
Yeah it brings back most of the colour from the sdr grade.
Oh its that way due reshade process. If you download reshade for vulkan and then load the preset it does work
Lemme take some Screenshots
This doesnāt sound right
What monitor do you have and whatās the mode you were using called?
Before the mod - after the mod. Did my best to take them as the issue with alt tab vulkan hdr
Still I would prefer to do try the Reno, hopefully sometime in the future it will come to Vulkan.
If you want I can later try to take a ss on Saint denis night, it is trully a difference, tho as I said I would think reno is better.
Sadly dx12 on my end does not even load the game.
Delete files in "Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings" might help with DX12 not able to load
Oh, already tried:(
i think it may be something related to the installation already, but I am playing story once more and already in chapter 4, so preferred to keep it without it
I know this game has an issue with dlss sharpening being forced on regardless of the slider. If you override your a newer DLL/preset, Iām assuming the sharpening issue isnāt present?
what are the thoughts on match sdr vs default settings? @flint crater
match SDR is too dark for me
at night at least
i guess you can lower vignette
I prefer defaults
most of that comes from the srgb lut encoding correction, right?
well day time is fine
so its that + vignette
whats the reason to replace the games custom lut encoding? does that not fall under artistic vision?
or is that logic only from the vanilla hdr?
the custom lut encoding seems like nonsense tbh
forgot to check but I'm pretty sure its controlled by the game's brightness slider
its basically srgb gamma but adjusted to use 2.2 as the exponent
i asked pumbo about it and he said it was probably nonsense
all game code is just yolo
gotcha
i imagine they probably made the luts in external software in the first place
and that may have just been using srgb
they probably tuned it based on that fucked up lut encoding though, no?
who knows how they tuned it
I could just always use that lut encoding and then optionally decode with srgb, 2.2, or their custom one
i've just kinda discovered this
it's like nviida driver lossles scaling essentially
not sure how it compares
puredark made FG mod for rdr2
ASUS PG32UCDM. I used the HDR 10 console mode and I did a seperate HDR calibration in Windows. After loading into Cyberpunk I changed the RenoDX values to the new defaults.
DisplayHDR 400 True Black looks accurate and good though
oh for sure it will always be more accurate
Console HDR (with DBB off) does not fade colors tho, so the desert looking white sounds like a separate issue
in fact it's the only mode that keeps highlight detail at 1000 nit peak brightness
I had DBB off.
Yes it's what I prefer based out of the 2 tbh
Someone on Reddit told me that doing pixel cleaning unprompted will make the monitor less vibrant, I didn't know that because this is my first OLED. Is this true? Is there some way to fix this
I don't think this is true
this is what matters most
i have the PG27, i use the hdr 400 mode for bright games and hdr 1000 (console hdr mode) for dark games like resident evil but i wish these oled monitor just have one option that perform the best in both situations, i have an lg c1 55" oled tv that i used for years and the hdr experience is phenomenal on all situation without having to compromise, with one set and forget setting (hgig) and i wish my monitor was like that
Yes but it needs DX12ā¦. I canāt stand using DX12 due to the microstutter and instant day/night transition
yeah, I just have never had luck using his mods in combination with reshade or anything else so I don't
I would say probably better to use optiscaler if you want FG
hmm never heard/seen the latter. It just like instantly goes from day to night in dx12 only?
Doesn't RenoDX require DX12?
it does and it's such a visual improvement that I don't think I could play without it
Indeed
apparently lowering volumetrics to medium fixes the instant day/night pop for the most part
Yes it does. I no longer use renodx for that reason. Im using lilium fork of reshade with the sdr black floor fix with the games native HDR
But I like my ultra quality volumetrics
I haven't directly compared but apparently it only affect like distant sky/fog aka probably not that noticeable
Does instant day/night really happen on DX12? I haven't played past Chapter 1 yet with RenoDX
Yes, it annoys me a ton, but nothing you can really do about it
U can try the medium volumetric thing bry mentioned
you just run rtxhdr or specialk now?
the base hdr is pretty bad so maybe it is still an improvement especially base hdr at night
I'd rather play on the highest settings
I am not so sure, it's kinda crazy sometimes how little effect "ultra" has on overall image quality
"ultra everything" is more of a psychological trap than anything, I am guilty myself of always needing ultra but to mitigate and immersion breaking bug like this one?
Ya me too lol
I use native hdr with Lilium reshade fork with SDR black floor fix
Looks great
Better than RTX HDR
i've never tried BFF on this game, but the nights are horrible washed out
weak highlights
Try to increase slightly the Saturation with the toll to bring back some SDR colors and you are good to go
This game on stunning though on the highest settings, I'm going to play some I wonder what this instant day/night looks like
it was amalyzed by a expert in here or hdr den i think it's essentially fucked
I've done multiple playthroughs in the past, this is my first playthrough with HDR. I'm still in Chapter 1
Idk where to find a saturation slider, it doesnāt exist in the SDR black floor shader and the HDR tone mapping shader doesnāt have saturation either
When you fix the black floor itās pretty decent. Ofc itās not as good as RenoDX but itās way better than RTX HDR and I really prefer the smoothness and mod compatibility of Vulkan, Iāve got texture overhauls like TTO which look sick, they donāt work on DX12
yeha i just reread the analysis its bot as fucked as some
maybe ill try it the main problem with texture overhauls is they start nuking spawns @white oyster
i barely have any texture mods cuz i play on dx12 and already see some culling of spawns
I tried different tool in Reshade
then I chose one
Need to check the name once I'm home
It is but it's not terrible like you can't play with it
I means I did not try RenoDX
the nights with st denis are amazing woth reno
but if you play with Vulkan with some Tweak it's playable
musa boosted highlights Inthinknor something the neon in st denis looks incredible abd the glow of street lights
I'm sure but my setup it's full of mods
And also Vulkan has steady frame time
I'd rather play a smooth game than an itchy one
yeah i might try it
but yeah the main problem with modding is it ruins spawns
there is a "fix" mod for it but not sure it actually fixes it
I don't know few years back I tried to switch to DX but didn't workout for me
Only if you have too many and override the games limits. With just TTO itās fine
The issue is unoptimized texture mods that go right over the games default limits which break spawns
it's also a bit random bro
Sometimes u Fuck up the spawns for no reason with just 4/5 mods
sometimes spawns were good and I had plenty of texture mods
u just learn by trying what are the right mods and game limits
but also sometimes the game breaks
and u are fucked
Do ya'll get black/dark spots on Arthur Morgan's face as well with RenoDX?
Here is a screenshot
He even had these spots in the opening cinematic at the very beginning
Ya thatās why I just use TTO for texture mods
u use ILD together with TTO?
load game with taa first, then enable dlss
I used my new galaxy brain tonemap code which is brighter than before
Thank you I'll try that out
Whatās ILD?
Increase Level Of Detail
Oh idk I havenāt tried that mod
Ngl I never rly felt like the game needed higher LOD lol
I canāt see stuff far away very well anyways on a 27ā 1440p so I doubt Iād notice
has this been applied to gow rag?
I didnāt change the tonemapper in Ragnarok, just fixed it
My galaxy brain shit is for taking sdr tonemappers and making them work in hdr
yeah gow rag is the only reno where hightlights feel dim to me, it's probably my display limitations more than the reno itself
I think you said the game only put peak luminance to a few things, so if you have a lower range display like 800 nit LG oleds its' gonna look off
Switch from fullscreen to windowed mode or vice versa
Would it be possible to disable vignette for Vulkan at least?
mod for that
HDR Saturation Fix, you find it in the Reshade list of effects. Try between 28 to 35 in Saturation Amount
Hmm, I donāt think I have that effect, weird. Ur only using lilium reshade shaders?
it's not by Lilium, you should check some other authors, I forgot the name
But you can find more than one actually
Nice Iāll have to try it
this has a saturation shader
They taaaanked my FPS too
Easily doubled my GPU frametime
I had horrible FPS drops using this mod for extended load. https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/3095
But this mod i can run at max with relatively low FPS hit
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/3751
Still able to hit 60 easily on a 5800x and 3090 at 1440p dlaa and 4k dlss performance. If I do some settings tweaking I can push it up to balanced
Well they are actually different
You can even run both
but ILD it really makes the LOD infinite
I ran both
I tried it with the other disabled and it was fine
The worst was the maxed out grass mod, I forgot the name
Increases density and lod
Imo these 2 together is the best combo for RDR2
interesting. I was going off the mod description for increased geometry saying that it already does what ILD does
I'd like to see some screens to see how they work separately and together
Mod author could use some
ILD is for details IGL Is for geometry scale
gotcha
yes this one, thank u
@white oyster try this
sweet
I was going back and forth and around 30 matches SDR Saturation imo
if you install new effects on Reshade remove the ini file manually and install again
Sometimes LML conflicts with Reshade
so better you install again
Very nice.
Mod applies to SP only?
And what was the performance hit, before and after the mod
ILD at max felt anywhere between 25% to 50% hit depending on scene and ingame settings. IGD felt more like 10 to 25
So at the moment I just run IGD and this mod for pushing lod out. https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/3810?tab=description
Jesus.
The max setting for ILD is excessive. Normal or high has about same impact as IGD max
