taken from my analysis on my shrine page: Expunged has a very powerful resentment of Dave. This is one of his defining traits. Expunged is the manifestation of Dave’s discarded power, removed through the P.R.A.E.M (Power Removal and Extraction Machine.) This resentment isn’t just strong, it’s justified. Dave constantly paints Expunged as a villain, when at first Expunged doesn’t even act remotely antagonistic towards Dave. His view of his power shapes his view of Expunged before she even has a chance to develop character— Dave’s power was never inherently “evil” or meant to hurt people— and in fact they were most likely given as a gift to be used in self defense— but that’s beside the point. At the end of the day, interdimensional dislocation is just… a power. And because there’s no identity attributed towards it, Expunged was a blank slate. Easily molded by other’s perceptions of them, and without purpose until it was given.

So why is Expunged a villain?
Because he had no identity to start with, it was practically molded by Dave’s views on him— so why not lean into it? If Dave wanted a villain, he’d get one. Expunged leaned into this characterization to an even comical degree, because she finds it fun. Not just for the sake of being evil, but because it brings her purpose, something she feels she needs to obtain more power.
