i have a fast inserter that pulls the parts from an assembler into a robo port as i was following a Trupen video and thats what he did and set a circut from the inserter to the roboport that with the limiter being not to work unless i have less than 50 bots (small number i know but i wanted to play around with it later) and i have since amassed over 520 bots and rising. I havent been able to successfully google any thing related.

Z is the number of 'available bots' which means bots that aren't currently doing anything. if all your bots are busy, then Z will drop below 50 and the inserter will add more to the roboport

i see, that makes a lot of sense. do you have a reccomendation for how to limit the construction of bots?

honestly this is fine as it currently is. it just means that as you build the factory bigger, it will add more bots to compensate.
if you want to set a flat number of bots to maintain, then make it respond to the X signal instead of Z. at least i think it's X
