269 Miners, spread unevenly across 10 belts. I have a smelter setup that can support 8 belts, but I was planning on only starting with 4 being used, eventually later hook up the other 4. I lane-balanced each of the 10 belts, my plan was to use a 10-8 balancer, and only use 4 of the 8 outputs at first. However, the 10-8 balancer i found uses blue belts, and more importantly, the extra long blue undergrounds. I am using yellow belts at the moment. Any advice appreciated

I wouldn't sweat it, and merge lanes without caring about balance until I get down to four.
Then if you really think you need a balancer (a lot of people here make factories without them), you can use a 4:4
To keep a semblence of balance and use the mine evenly, I would merge the two pair of outside belt first, since they have fewer miner, and them merge the resulting eight by pair
