I converted my save file to a scenario to update my username and the size went from ~100 to 200mb, how can I reduce it back to normal?

Additional tips to reduce filesize is appreciated, working on a 10kspm city block base. e.g. i might consider converting the half of my map full of solar panels into a EEI and trimming chunks

#

before and after, with very little changes between saves. size after conversion was ~196mb but I installed a mod to remove unused chunks to see if that was the issue. pollution, biters are disabled, etc. so literally nothing could have happened between these to double filesize

#

playtime is different just because of conversion

Most of it is generally due to terrain

how so? all i did was convert it to a scenario

#

surely i should be able to reduce it back to normal levels somehow

#

im thinking of creating a new save with the same seed and just editor-pasting my entire base if my poor computer can take it, but that seems like an avoidable hassle

you can try deleting empty chunk before converting to scenario.

My theory is that the save embed the scenario in full (so in this case your old save), in order to make the "restart" feature work.
So I think you should recreate the save and past your factory in editor mode, without using a scenario.

yeah sounds like the best solution

#

since what seems to be missing is 'convert scenario to standalone savefile"

#

though the idea that each scenario save has its own copy of the original scenario they originate from is weird, imo
