I think the guide about setting up steam engines as backup would be nice to have.

#

#train-help message there is this guide on two-way rails however it does not have a warning sign that it is harder than 2 lane rail setups

Ah, nice. Celebrating first anniversary with my wife today. Will have to put something together tomorrow.

So this is sort of the thing I had in mind

#

Can definitely be cleaned up. I don't currently have a vanilla game going, but I suppose I could make one that looks a bit nicer in the editor or in a lab

#

Hmm. Yeah I'll probably go ahead and do that.

Hopefully an improvement?

#

Should there be a text explanation to go with this? @sick stratus

I think so, explaining that this an use of an sr latch and that you can adjust the numbers from the 80% and 20%

To use steam engines as backup power, an SR latch is recommended. Not using one causes a strobing effect, which most people prefer to avoid. Use the SR latch to control the offshore pump supplying water to the boilers (a power switch can also work, but if you accidentally connect the steam engines to the rest of the power grid, the setup will break).

The first two decider combinators set the desired on/off points of the pump (the values of 10 and 80 in the picture), based on the current charge level of the accumulator. These values can be adjusted to your liking.

I think thats good!

I got to leave for work but I will get this turned into a faq after

@vale turtle sorry for the delay, its official now. I removed the part about power switches and added a warning about using it with solar
