#FOV slider works but throws error

Every time I load into the game my FOV is reset, I have to go into the options to fix it. After the latest update I now get an error message whenever I change it. I imagine this was throwing silently in the background before the update, and it's probably the culprit for it getting reset every load.

Considering other people would likely be posting here about their FOV getting reset constantly, it's probably a Linux issue.

I was wondering how to trigger an Error.

oh, so is it a linux issue or does no one care? xD

what fov value are you using?

mental trout
#

I max it out

diomonder had this issue too, but I was never able to get it to happen (so I couldn't fix it)

Anything over 80 causes it.

when? how?

#

when you just launch the game and load into a save file?

When you adjust the FOV from settings.

when I load into the game my FOV is reset to default, so I immediately go into the options to change it, and the error appears when you release the mouse

Oh, it's happening for me now too

#

weird. I had to enable fullscreen mode to make the error appear

#

but after switching back to windowed mode, it continues to error

I never run full-screen and it happened first time I tried it.

#

I played with FOV when it was first added and everything was OK.

should be fixed now

mental trout

Oh wow I didn't expect an update immediately. xD
The error no longer appears, but my FOV does still get reset every time I reload. Idk if that's all you intended to do for now or not.

try updating your proton version maybe

#

it's saving for me on windows and on steam deck

#

are any of the other settings saving for you? like resolution or mouse sensitivity?

#

I would expect those to not save if FOV isn't saving

#

(but keybinds would save, since it uses a different system for saving)

Everything else is saving just fine, I just double checked. In that check I also found that toggling VSync either way will reset my FOV as well.

As for proton, what proton are you using? My default is set to experimental as I've found that usually works better for most games.

#

uhm, actually. Resolution is not saving either, I had gamescope set to 1080, without running through that it reverts to 4k every load. Everything else seems to save though.

#

it might also be worth mentioning that the values in the UI are actually being stored, when I open the graphics tab in the options, it automatically applies the stored resolution. Similarly the FOV stays at 110, but I have to wiggle it to apply the value.

Huh that's really strange
