#steam join links not working
21 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
on play theres a lobby type selector now, gta be public for these to work
friends only currently means friends of host
might add a friends of friends type also though if needed
no, they're not working at all, in every single lobby type, with any type of person regardless of relationship to each other. all variables have been tried, but steam lobby invite codes don't work whatsoever, so everyone has been having to friend whoever is hosting. (at least in my experience)
i see, thanks for letting me know, so links only work if you're friends with the host
ah my bad i found the issue, fix will be released tomorrow
Sorry for the ping ;;
I recently bought the game and trying to understand all of this ;; but wanted to get a more better understanding of these lobby type(s) despite it sounding straightforward.
- I recently was testing by creating a lobby with the "private" setting but my friend was able to see the "join game" option through steam and joined successfully-- but does this restrict their friends list from joining or only host only friends like "friends only" mode (if that's supposed to be the correct way? or not?)
- Then I went to "invisible" mode and my friend didn't see the "join game" option through steam, and so I sent a invitation and it worked. (which I'm assuming that's how it's supposed to be? do correct me if it isn't ^^)
- I read above that "friends only" is strictly and supposedly only whoever is host, only host friends can join and not anyone else.
Thank you again for your hardwork!
mmm okay i'll look into this
likely i'm doing something wrong then
tbf these are just steams lobby types
all good, no worries at all! thanks for responding back!
Yes, your assumption is correct. It seems there is no use for "private" game lobby yet. Tho as a debugging way of lobby type its good to have it there.
Invisible mode in overall, turning off the option for see player and being able to join them without invite (as you said there)
Friends only : only friendlist people can join you, OR if you have in your steam profile setted privacy, friend of your friends can see your profile even them can join you via your profile
And public is public, you can make invite lobby URL by opening game, start lobby, set to public and then going to your steam account profile and there is on right side "join game" button on which you can right click and copy URL which seem like steam://joinlobby/"lobby code"
Thank you for clarification!
