Can't join or invite my bf (misversion problem ?)

We both bought the game, we have the same version, but when we try to play together its saying "misversion", we both deleted the demo but it doesn't change a thing. He's in Ireland and im playing in France, is it why it doesn't work ?

right click the game on steam, properties, installed files -> verify

this should force the update to happen
