#How to auto-restore all apps and windows after reboot in Omarchy?

Hi everyone! I’m using Omarchy and I want to know if there’s a way to automatically restore all my open windows and apps after shutting down or rebooting, so I can resume my last session.

I know some apps (like browsers) have built-in session restore, but I’m looking for a more general solution that restores:

  • All running apps
  • Workspaces
  • Window layout / positions

Is this possible currently in Omarchy, or are there recommended workarounds?

I have not found a good way yet, but this may be helpful if you want to do it somewhat manually:

Basically you need to grab window locations before shutdown/restart (You could edit your walker menu commands do include a script), then save the relevant window location/details to a file, then when your system starts back up you can autorun another script to grab the window info from the file and open those windows back up.

Some work is also being done to add session managment functionality to Wayland, but is not avaliable in Hyprland/Omarchy at this stage. See here for more info:
