Secure Boot is disabled, tried 4 different USB drives even bought a new one.
On the final step where you remove the USB and reboot I get an error and then the OS will not startup.
Please help, thanks in advanced.

How'd you write the USB?

with Balena etcher

rewrite it using Rufus set to GPT and use DD when writing

#

I'm now downloading Rufus

#

Now I can't even see the USB in the boot option, I'm now trying it again with the new USB

#

Nope that also did not work

I've now tried every different parameter with Rufus and none of them worked

is your bios set to boot UEFI? and make sure secureboot is turned off as well as tpm

orchid terrace
#

I cannot find a ''EUFI'' option in the bios, secure boot is off, tpm is not on the system so that's good

#

is legacy boot on?

#

or anything like MBR GPT

#

we want MBR off

#

and GPT/UEFI on

I do not have these options in the BIOS, I think I need to buy a different laptop

#

Can I maybe install a new BIOS that has these options?

@orchid terrace what kind of laptop are you using?

#

''Lenovo T410s'' the s in the end is apparently important because with the T410 there are those options in the BIOS, that are not there in the T410s

#

I'm open to do hardware modifications or risky flashes, since I'm not going back to windows and if linux cannot be installed on this laptop I will give it away

you don't see any mention of EFI or UEFI in your BIOS?

#

also you can try seeing if lenovo has any firmware updates for your machine and see if that helps

#

even if you already removed windows, you can usually still trigger a firmware update using a bootable USB with the firmware package on it (most vendors have instructions on how to do this)

#

like Sicarius said, if you have a "legacy boot" option in your BIOS (usually shows up near the boot or security menus) that needs to be turned off

#

use Rufus or Ventoy to make your bootable USB for the omarchy .iso

#

worst case scenario, you may need to go manual install route. Sometimes that is able to work around weird issues
