#Unable to change machine ip - "already in use"

When migrating 2 nodes of mine from one tailnet to another (I wanted to change the email/displayed info within the app) I fat fingered editing NODE2's ip address after syncing it up to the new tailnet and accidentally made it X.X.X.3 instead of X.X.X.2 .

I went and updated NODE2's ip address to what I originally intended for it to be (x.x.x.2), then proceeded to edit NODE3's ip address to the original fat fingered one (x.x.x.3) that was first briefly attached to NODE2, but Tailscale isn't letting me, giving me an error that the ip address is already in use.

I have looked into other reports of this online but none seemed to have come to any conclusions.

How can I set my NODE3 back to its intended ip address that NODE2 once occupied for a few minutes before I realized my mistake?

I would probably remove both nodes from the tailnet and reconnect them.

I tried that but I may try again

I was considering deleting and re-creating the tailnet... but I like the name I got, lol

I did some more testing and it's a sharing bug of some kind. if you share a node from one tailnet to another, then remove that shared node, it does not release the ip address.

I tried everything I could think of to re-acquire it so it could be abandoned or changed gracefully, but it just orphans the ip address unfortunately
