This idea would have the four cylinders laid out in a similar configuration to the Nerf blaster pictured, with the upholstery more similar to a Thompson SMG.
Mechanically identical to the quad cylinder we have now, just a different firing animation that spins the sub-cylinders, and a reload animation that reflects the new layout.
#Alternate model for Quad Cylinder

I assumed the Quad Cylinder worked with caseless ammo with each chamber on each cylinder lining up perfectly with one another. It fires from the front cylinder first until it is empty, and then does the same with the cylinder behind it, then so on until the whole gun is empty.
oh yeah, this isn't meant to be a replacement, just maybe a potential cosmetic. I love the cartoony nonsense that is the current Quad Cylinder.
I'd love this. I get that it's all fun and games, but there comes a point where a gun is too stupid to be allowed to exist, and Quad Cyl's current iteration beats even Bethesda in sheer nonsensicality.
I'm a bit of a gunlet, so I'm not aware of how that would work. Would you mind explaining what causes the bullets to actually go off in your version?
probably robot cowboy magic and the spite of the French.
I'm a total gun nut (and a trained gunsmith). While yes, the quad cylinder has plenty of reasons why it wouldn't work, I still love the design. Sometimes you gotta turn your brain off and go with the rule of cool.
It's not that cool. Definitely not cool enough for me to wish to maintain it over the version proposed in this thread.
That's what I assumed since there's obviously a striking hammer (or whatever you call that little lever thing with a firing pin) that obviously cannot hit any primers except the ones in the back cylinder, but I thought I'm missing something crucial about caseless ammo that would allow for some funny barely plausible headcanon.
it's a bit of a stretch, but maybe with pinfire notches and firing hammers all along the top rail to set them off?
I doubt they would fit in there.
No, there's clearly no firing mechanism in the top cover. It would have to be an electronic ignition system, but even then there's no feasible way for forcing, indexing, or timing.
Then again, you're literally able to summon fireballs and cactus golems to fight reanimated skeletons, so I'm just gonna go with "it's magic."
im imagining this as a secondary revolver shotgun honestly, would be sick actually
Reminds me of something.
