#Joker that makes Boomerang bounce between enemies instead of linger

a good point of reference could be Risk of Rain 2 Hunter´s Cleaver ability
it bounces between enemies, prioritising ones that have not been hit already and deals slightly more damage (prob not needed in Far Far West)
In mine I had the idea to make it so you have to shoot it if you want to make it ricochet, to encourage players to explore the playstyle of quickswapping to their primary while the boomerang lingers to double dip on the damage.
I feel like that would feel a bit clunky to pull off, you'd have to max out draw speed to do it consistently. I use Boomerang as my main way of dealing damage and the Long Ranger for picking off stronger enemies, I'd rather not swap between them unless I have to.
Quickswapping could work in other ways though
Boomerang kinda just feels too precise to hit consistently
With high enough lingering time you should be able to shoot it with 0% swap speed, I can vouch as a guy who manages to dump 4-5 shotgun blasts with maxed out swap speed before catching my boomerang. It will feel tricky, but I wouldn't call it clunky.
But other than that - indeed, I want to encourage focusing on quickswapping when using the boomerang. I think it's the most compelling way of using it and it's the playstyle that refines the weapon's flavor and strongly sets it apart from the rest of the secondaries. It might sound fiddly, but I highly recommend you to try that playstyle out for yourself.
actually yeah that makes sense
I do have to admit doing that with the long ranger will feel the least satisfying because the weapon right now has very poorly coded swapping and reloads.
for my Joker suggestion specifically though I don't think quickswapping would be the best
I do kinda want to make a thread for quickswapping combos though
I'm worried letting it ricochet as is would go the other way - make it do too much for too little. And I also feel like going the way of shooting it would be a lot more stylish while organically teaching the players the "hidden advantage" of the boomerang.
Well, this is strictly preference at this point, I don't believe either direction is more or less in line with the game's vision, so I figure we should just let the devs pick their favorite.
fair
maybe if they made Long Ranger feel better to quick draw I could get behind it
Definitely agree with it being a miserable weapon to swap to and sometimes even reload. It has a solid delay between the weapon being ready to fireand it actually being capable of firing, and it murders the pacing if you swap too much.
tbh I just kinda find the idea of quick drawing a sniper rifle like a revolver really funny
