I tried to play the playtest when it was out and the game legit gave me a popup saying that it doesn't work on my laptop. Is there anyway to circumvent this or am I cooked?

Did it give you a reason for not working? This vague statement doesn't really give us anything to work with besides "ask for a refund" if it doesn't work.

Do you know what your PC parts are, like your processor and graphics card?
If you don't. I suggest something like NZXT Cam, it lets you know what's inside your PC and the temps it's running at.
