||I honestly cannot believe this nonsense. we first met the siren/glaucos at mission SIXTY. ONLY AT MISSION ONE HUNDRED AND FIVE, DO WE GET TO KILL IT. Not to mention I havent gotten to murder erkanus or the turtle dude this game yet. sure Glaucos anihilated turtle but I WANNA FIGHT TURTLE||
@torn saffron ||45 missions from meet to kill. Thats gotta be a new record right? Thats just obscene.||
i never actually kept count on how long it takes
It’s still insane.
mission 106 ||g..... golds? ON NORMAL? I mean they tickle but still just seeing them here is...... bad memories are surfacing.||
||HERE WE GO AGAIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNN||
mission 107 ||woah. that armour looks so cool||
||FINALLY SOME BLOODY RECOGNITION!||
||oh my god they're weilding hte mini EMC weapons. so cooooooooool. man this. this. finally. IT ALL COMES TOGETHER.||
||I wonder what the plan is.... is the prof..... going to try and take more people back in time? I do truly wonder what the plan is.||
||ITS ME AND THE CAP AGAIN! Cap..... its been so long..... our fleeting moments together have been wonderful but finally. we work together again.||
||yes the captain from EDF 5 is my favorite character. how could you tell.||
||....... hwhat........||
||wheres the burnt out city. wehres the..... what. did..... did we win in this one? but then..... the ship will arrive...... and send stuff back I..... what..... what the hell is going on.||
||the bait and switch of htis mission is..... I approve. this was fun. now. LETS CROAK TOAD!||
mission 108 ||okay so the sub fortresses survived in the future after earth kaput itself via humans and some species hyper evolved in this enviornment and became what we fight today, understandable, but then why are they going BACK in time to kill us? and how does that explain their energy god? I just..... Im trying to not use logic too hard, Im suspending disbelief I just dont understand..... they rule the planet. they clearly work in a cooperative partnership..... why attack us...... in the past...... I..... I dont understand..... this is a lot to drop on a guy mr research man.||
||also this sounds similar to how IAs monsters came to be (that being aliens forceibly evolved bugs to become the monsters you fight) so thats kinda cool||
mission 109 ||ah. the primers are weaponizing our own future horrors against us. I see. it still doesnt make sense why they would do this to US, in this specific time period.||
ono
mission 110 ||its here.||
time for the two """best""" enemy variants you'll face
yet another ||biological flying fodder enemy|| that apparently gets That Bad™️ in higher diffs
111 ||oh here we go........ god damnit. we were doing so well.||
.................................................... oh hell naw
||MARTIANS? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?||
||it all comes full circle I guess. bloody hell.||
||that..... that number used to be higher. a lot higher. significantly higher. tremendously higher. didn't it start..... at like 3,000?||
||I know last loop it was 300..... but now 100?||
||started at 500||
||oh the spiders are back to being weird. oh dear.||
||ah. I see.||
||like are the weird sppiders and ants upgraded variants? they dont FEEL stronger?||
||oh. oh no. they're talking about the sky. god damnit what new horror is..... oh right new bio flier you mentioned great. thats gonna be fun.||
||the kraken? you'd think after the Kruul, the Scyla, the Siren, and all the other names they gave them we would STOP NAMING THEM AFTER MYTHOLOGICAL CREATURES.||
||oh boy, SILVER WEIRD SPIDERS. MY FAVORITE.||
||weird ants and gold weird ants. oh boy. gonna be one of these days. at least Ive got an obscene amount of HP.||
||or no those are normal gold ants. huh.||
||well this gets more and more interesting. one of these days someones gonna have to explain the enemy tiers to me. cause Im sure lost on it.||
honestly i had no idea that "primal"(?) variants could also be gold/silver
call em whatever you want but I saw a silvered spider primal
no gold primal ants though
either way, it seems researchy boy figures out the information he needs no matter what the primers do. good on him.
mission 112 ||boring...... thats..... a flying kruul..... with lasers...... and the shields..... oh god. this abomination...... is actually mildly terrifying. everything else until now I could consider how to counter but THIS? ONE OF MY CORE STRATAGIES IS SHOOTING THE KRUULS LEGS OFF! THIS THING DOESNT HAVE LEGS TO SHOOT!||
||OH AND THERES SMALLER MINION VERSION TOO||
||oh thats evil. the little monsters block LOS on death. thats cruel.||
ooh thats a fun naming convention ||banquet of the gods, banquet of the water god, banquet of the wind god||
i hear that these ones are actually the worse out of the two due to how surprisingly quickly they can swarm you and how much damage they can do
I’d believe it
Their attack is nasty
At least they have low health
115 ||once more. around and around we go. one last time.||

116 ||oh we went ALL THE WAY THIS TIME. OH. OKAY. AHAHAHAHAHA. PREPARE FOR OBLIVION YOUR MARTIAN SCUM! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD LILLY!||
||wait this is an actual tutorial mission. what.||
kek
||this is my Dunkel. Ive killed literal gods with this abomination. it is mine. take it and I will slaughter your entire bloodline.||
||yeahhhh.... a model..... yuuuup. and the reason I dont mind much is Ive lived through this. not htis moment but this war. nine god damned times now. I will not hold back. there will be blood. shed. the man in the mirror nods his head.||
||no. I refuse. I AM GOING TO FIX THIS WAR AND SAVE THE EARTH.||
||do not ask questions you do not wish to know the answer to captain.||
||"somethings off about this one" you mean like how I have more armour than a tank, am carrying high end weaponry from a bygone timeline, and am a raving sociopath after everything Ive been through? good times.||
when i heard this voiceline i looked at the guy and started jittering my camera
for me he slowly backed away.
so.

they keep shouting things at me and I keep not caring because by the nine do I have a job to do and I am not going to let anyone stop me.
||what dont I know? I am basically a god of knowledge in this timeline at this point.||
||giant mech time? shinyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy||
mission 117 ||uhuh. "like"||
||yeah. and I know it. future knowledge baby. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD LILLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY||
||good times.||
man these missions are fun
good times
mission 118 ||LE GASP! ERGANUS TIME?! FINALLY! OOOOOOHHHHH SHINYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY||
one more fun mission before it's Back To New Story
awwww
oh well
Ill enjoy while I can
||I love that theyre like "what do you mean we can use the giant robot to fight the monster, its just a mobile crane!" like yeah..... of course we can use the giant robot to fight the monster...... thats why we build such things.||
man that..... hehehehehhehe. ahhhh. good times this has been
cant wait for the whiplash to kick in
||this womans sarcasm is just, impecable.|| mission 119
ya know, after mission 120, I no longer hate tadpoles so much.
they arent that bad
flashbacks
mission 122 ||THEY BELIEVE HIM THIS TIME! GLORIOUS! WE CAN WIN THIS!||
man I only blew up like 10 buildings that mission
thats gotta be a record low
missions without buildings dont count
truly "the Haze" are competing for 'worst monster gurm has ever fought' award.
but truly, nothing will ever beat the tick spider.
nothing.
okay I think the difference is the primal bugs are slightly larger and do slightly more damage?
thats about all I can tell
in the case of red ants SIGNIFICANTLY larger
same with ant queens
yeah, this is most likely the main difference
kinda closer to set dressing to imply that things have gotten worse but y'know
i'm just glad there don't seem to be any other primal variants in the basegame
I've been clicking spoilers and holy shit this game gets wild
it kinda does
ehhhhh, I mean, maybe, but they also appear side by side in the same missions. if I had to guess its just another layer of difficulty to tweak for them. the more ways the devs can play with difficulty the better. seen how the primal variations can also be their respective metalic versions.
which yes Ive seen and confirmed now. its no longer just a theory
it really do.
which now metalics are appearing more commonly in these later missions. which is nice. good ol loot pinyatas.
although Im betting in higher difficulties metalic primals are going to give me nightmares
god help me if theres ever a metalic primal queen or king.
haven't seen any, pray i don't
okay honestly "the kraken" arent as bad as I thought they would be. its "the haze" that are the real terror.
excluding the green ones
the green ones murder npcs really hard
the issue with green ones is the same issue with ant queens. DOT effects.
large AOE DOT effects
and your allies' glacial walk speeds
and their inability to DODGE
the best way to make them dodge is just to make them walk around basically

yeah although sometimes you gotta plant your feet in an area and make a stand
honestly part of me can't wait for online so i can offload worrying about npcs to someone else
or at least feel less alone when they all die
yeah
thattle be nice
mayhaps once I get there we can start trying to do some hardest or inferno
although wait
crap
MY HEALTH ADVANTAGE
DAMN YOU ARMOUR CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
i'm going to be stuck in the Hard singleplayer runs for another eternity or so
fair enough
once i finish wd off i might be open though
i'd have to make an epic account though so fingers crossed they extricate that maybe
ah yeah unlikely given multiplayer is piggybacking off of it
you'd probably have to make an epic (or use a microsoft or psn account if you have one and link it into an epic account)
(my epic account is literally just my xbox account)
alas, i have neither
I give you the legendary LIMBLESS KRAKEN (dont click if you dont know what that is)
or do
I dont control you
yet
annoyingly tanky
yes but their limbs are made of wet tissue paper
i guess they are pretty big
very easy to disable
there's a couple quirks to their limbs
oh?
well, outside of the shot speed bypassing thing
if the bullet is fast enough they cannot block it
relevant to fencer melee, lysander/fang, WD snipers
you'll be able to sneak in a shot and they cannot physically react fast enough to block it
anyway for fencer you can sometimes randomly dismember their shield hands with the dynamo blade max charge due to weird hitboxes
huh
see I just shoot the shield until its disabled then shoot the limb
if you get the shield max extended the limb is a sitting duck
and then the gun hands you can just shoot dead on
true, they seem less capable of blocking than kruul
I think I know why
but also in hardest ||they start reflecting shots back to you||
oh joy
||the Kruul's shield is basically the size of their head, so if you screw up positioning they're basically immortal and their arm is rarely exposed enough to shoot the shield off. the kraken have massive limbs and fly, so you have better angles. the Kruul are powerful because of their simplicty. the kraken are weaker due to their titanic size and complexity. of course until apparently HARDEST WHEN THEY REFLECT YOUR SHOTS. GREAT. but yeah Krakens have the same downfall as the Scyla. giant meat shields with large hitboxes.||
also it appears explosions can pierce the kraken shield unlike the kruul shield
no clue why
should be the same
maybe just sheer range and blast radius
anyway, yeah, haze suck
i imagine missiles to work pretty well against them, but right now i've just been using quick-aiming, quick-killing weapons to take them out
oh missiles have ot work great. and ARs. RPGs work..... fiiiine???? its more of a "do you care to take 1000 damage to the face to kill 20 of them" kinda deal for RPGs.
and honestly
I do
I will take that thousand damage to the face
at least in normal mode
above that?
god no
mission 128 ||is it just me or is our handler coming..... onto us? I could be completely misinterpreting here. but it feels VAGUELY romantically charged. did you get that feeling at all boring? or am I going deranged.||
mostly deranged
||considering the cultlike despair and fervor she fell into previously, i think she's just high on hope||
||seems legit. I'd buy that.||
finally
a new title
glorious
no longer must I be brazil
I am now..... more powerful
ohhh another thing!
Kruul shields recharge REALLY fast
Krakens dont
IM FINALLY STORM 1 AGAIN!
man I missed this title
good days ahead I tells ya
considering how tanky the shields are, i'm thankful
i wish damage numbers worked on shields though
or armor
just to give us an idea yeah
although it is nice that its feedback that "you are hitting something that is still alive keep shooting"
mission 129 ||an egg shaped spacecraft that we can instally win the war if we destroy? where have I heard that one before. oh right. our suicidal charge in EDF 5 that debatbly maybe worked potentially the primers got pissy though and went back in time preventing that. WHO KNOWS!||
mission 130 ||come on big mothership I DARE YOU. OPEN UP YOUR CANNON. GIVE ME A WEAK POINT. COME ON!||
||it did not, and instead made me fight osme of the most annoying enemies in the game all at once. I did not enjoy it.||
mission 132 ||the hooligan cannon. THE HOOLIGAN CANNON. IS THAT SERIOUSLY WHAT WE CALLED IT?||
||it can blow up ships without needing them to open.... okay then. we can call it whatever we like then.||
||....... the mothership can..... it...... wh..... oh god. we might be in over our heads.||
||as it turns out, if we cant stop the god damned time travel ship, none of this means anything.||
||I feel as though there is one more loop coming. one final go around.||
mission 133 ||haaah haaaah.||
ya know I just realized
||we've time traveled through these loops how many times? and not ONCE did we get promoted. I just..... like come on.||
||I mean yes we are part of storm squadren, and each other group of storm has multiple people while we ourselves make up the entirety of storm 1, but like, thats not a promotion. thats just reassignment. how have we not once made the rank of Sargent or higher. in any form.||
mission 134 ||dr researchy man..... thats kinda a terrible explanation "we discovered their tech so they had to destroy us" but like...... what did us discovering their tech do. clearly someting in the future changed so significantly that humanity became either a threat, or a presence to the primers I just..... screw it. its a B movie. who cares. we found their crashed ship, that was a big nono, wipe humanity off the map.||
mission 135 ||...... I mean they're probably goingng to have to start printing new money to pay for the amount of damage I deal but yeah. sure. checks out.||
||well lets see..... um..... lets do some math..... so the war itself lasted..... idk..... 2 years of playable time? then each 3 year time skip...... so thats 5 years per loop. using the games own metric this is the 9th loop we've done this...... so thats 45 years of training ma'am. give or take. although considering her comment Im betting its been a lot more than 9 loops. who actually knows how many. anywho. a long long time of battling the same foes over and over again getting better and better with time refining stratagy yada yada. good times.||
||or maybe the war lasted only 1 year of playable time. the time scale was real unclear on that||
||either way, we've done this a LOT||
||I havent fought through the world ending who knows how many times just to give up NOW.||
||...... no comment.||
||multiple erganises. well then. this should be fun.||
||TURTLE TIME! CMERE TURTLE! IMA MAKE SOUP OUTTA YA!||
||I killed them all before barga could be dropped. oops.||
that was literally the ||coolest barga they've had yet||
no matter, you'll get to try it again next mission iirc
seems so
||"the giant god comes crashing" with barga in the image.||
mission 136 ||theres like 5 erganis out there but we have..... so many bargas..... ehehehhehehehehe. what an unfair fight. my favorite.||
||I appear to not get to pilot one of the TEN DIFFERENT BARGAS WE DROPPED. JESUS CHRIST THATS OVERKILL||
||or not seeing as one erganis just knocked down a barga......||
ooh confirmation in this mission! ||each war has lasted 5 years! so we've been doing this for at minimum 45 years of straight conflict.||
||we have so much PTSD||
||NEVERMIND I DO GET MY OWN BARGA! AN ARMAMENT BARGA! ITS BARGA TIME!||
d'you know how to do the thing with it
I had to look in my control menu but I figured it out..... and blew up 3 of my allies in the process but ya know it looked cool.
you kinda needed those three allies
...... nah
Ill just spam it more
this led to more people dying
but
that was a risk I was willing to take
victory just requires one man left standing
overall, cool mission, but super gimmicky. not my favorite.
mission 137 ||mainly this camera angle but oh look. the object that will destroy all we have done. after this..... the ??? missions. woo woo!||
post 137 ||well then. this is getting very interesting. first science man talks about coincidence, and now a popup outside of where popups usually happen.||
this is gettin real funky

like I vaguely knew this was coming but not like this
yeah, it's cool
iirc the missions do actually follow eachother in level scaling from the "earliest" to the "latest" mission
I had a feeling it was gonna be something like that
only one of them is relevant to progression but they're not all bad
oh actually, weird quirk about the dynamo blade's max charge
apparently it ragdolls big enemies in the same way explosives do
ohhhhh
so if you need something long range that can stun queens/spiders/large androids that also dashes
i guess you could use it
not really a great source of DPS, even with maxxed stats, but it is a usable companion to a handcannon/gallic
also, force blades in general are kinda silly against grenadiers due to their huge hitboxes and innate pierce

I need to play around with fencer more
I just know I like shield and I like minigun
the other 2 weapons are TBD
they're still not very good but i've come around to liking them for normal at least, as his mortars are just as weak, but are boost weapons instead
everyone's singing the praises of the power blades though
hm
Ill take a peek
all I know is that all of fencers spears in every entry..... just disapoint me
they have so much potential
and its all bad
like sure in 4.1 the twin spears were good because sonicing around the map was neat
but 5+ ehhhhh not too good
the worst spear in fencer's entourage is probably the flashing spear, and, even then, it's still pretty good for making sure one priority enemy is dead
fair enough
as I said
need to play around more
figure it out
you know how it goes
you enver really know how a class plays until you've done a whole campaign run with it
it may be also the camera inertia of playing fencer on m&kb.
I hate that stupid inertia. LET ME TURN WHERE I WANT GAME.
such is the price of a heavy exoskeleton
yeah
or just use a controller
it's sort of like handling a ball of ice
so painful, agonizing, and really not worth all that trouble?
you can whip around your camera further than you need to and then jerk it back to arrest your momentum
i started with him in 4.1, i've managed for a couple hundred hours by now
and it's not impossible to do an entirely mobilityless* run with the exoskeleton upgrades
ranger good
in other news broke 3K armour on ranger
yey!~
okay note to self
on normal mode: I can take exactly 1 erganus breath to the face
it deals 2/3rds of my HP
Im suprised I even lived through it
seems I found the one that mattered. time to still play the rest anyways
why is there just a random mech suit in this level..... I...... okay then game. sure. Ill take a free mech suit.
game is teasing me with these sub-par lock-on times for my fencer missiles
you know it is
annnnd thats all the ??? done...... why is the next mission 144......
I....
wait how many ??? missions were there
..... one mission is missing. 37+6 is only 43.....
something is missing....

oh no
sounds like you need to do higher difficulties for true end
joy
||
137
- unchanging days II (138)
- max power (139)
- the treacherous summit (140)
- town of darkness (141)
- pursuer (142)
- mech. soldier invasion (143)
||
rescinding that bad at counting—this is fine, actually, it's just a little late for me
....... in the middle of..... I think the final mission?
Ill do a recount when looking back
146 ||giant techno dragon. did NOT see that coming. honestly. I thought the ring would ya know, be the FINAL BOSS. but NOPE. ONE LAST HURAH AGAINST A GIANT TECHNO DRAGON||
or I guess not that mission
I guess it gets its own mission
okay back to counting
mission 137 happens. 6 ??? missions happen. that puts us at 143..... oh but..... oh wow Im stupid
there is no missing mission
I just cant count good
lol
147 ||giant time traveling dragon space ship. ya know. I aint even mad. thats badass. also this mission name "scales of time" heeeeeh.||
take your longest range weapon possible, and even then you might not have enough range
to be entirely honest, it's cinematic, but not exactly engaging
i don't look forward to fighting it with McNoShotspeed Gallic Fencer
I can shoot it yes but my god this fight suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks
the summons arent even threatening
yet anyways
you know how much I care for this fight?
Im muting it
so I can listen to LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE
the dialogue does go kinda hard though
I just
I just cant
Ill read the dialouge as it happens
anyways for this fight you want something with 750 range + and your shots better get there in less than a second
otherwise good luck
honestly I kinda wish I brought one of my higher powered snipers
but im in too deep now
750? i think i was working with like 2k+ and it still kinda sucked
750 only works when it comes close
I had to use rockets to finishi it..... oh thats not the end of the fight
||hello infinite energy god. BEEN A WHILE BUDDY. LETS DANCE.||
I uhhhh
might wanna get that longer ranged weapon
||is this lady seriously going "you'll wipe them all out!" YEAH LADY! LIKE THEY'RE TRYING TO DO TO US!||
||well plan "turn mars into a toxic wasteland" failed. hell if I had to guess that plan probably CREATED the pimers to begin with. closed loop and all that.||
||the primers we're probably fighting for their own creation. thats my best guess.||
||or you know, we made them stronger. close enough.||
||they are handling this time travel plot suprisingly well.||
for the record, 143 (last of the ???) is such a silly mission
both in the amount of enemies it throws at you and the ending dialogue
not really sure if it's possible to save any of the NPCS—i managed to keep one alive until the last wave—but if you have a good weapon that can instakill large groups of androids it's really satisfying
it is good fun, I still prefer mission 51
god damn that was a REALLY annoying and awful fight.
yay hardest and inferno unlock!
now time to..... idk
try and snag out some good ewapons
and uhhh
hell if I know
time to try mission 97 on inferno
mission 97 mostly plays itself so it shouldnt be THAT bad right?
97 is inferno viable!
WOO!
so time to grind that out until I can hit up a harder mission
bada bing bada boom
eventually Ill start just farming on high end inferno
and yey
good times
yeah so if anyone wants early inferno gear, do mission 97
Just got to where Wander gave Captain Anime hot pants in his Iron Rain playthrough
That is a very genuine belly laugh
I realize with this statement I have 3000 armour. do not attempt this if you do not have at least 2K armour with a class. it will be very bad.
kaiju breath hurts bad
real bad
I love inferno.
i didn't realize that a galloping erginus actually did that much damage until i was knocked down from 1.6k hp to ~200 in a single hit
yeah
and I didnt realize a tiny ant corpse was as close as it was and did THREE THOUSAND DAMAGE TO MY OWN FACE
THANKS INFERNO
so now Im playing the "stay the hell away" game (mission 91)
man I love snipers
Sounds like my kind of game
its quite boring but very effective
by staying far enough back the local kaiju doesnt target me down and kill me instantly.
so thats handy
Although, there's something special about the "cover me, I'm going in" strategy of running up and slapping cxx charges on the thing's ankles, then setting them off as you sprint away
Good tiiimes
No the local kaiju in this mission is unkillable and you just have to wait it out. The issue is it sometimes can get hard aggroed onto you for no reason. It then has a spamming breath weapon that deals (on inferno)……. Like 2100 damage? And you can’t dodge it if it doesn’t want you to. Maybe a fencer could escape? Hard to say. Either way, 2 of those means death. Once I get 4-5k armour this mission will get a lot safer though
So it’s currently a lot of hanging back and praying
But ya know it works well enough
i have to say
the final boss feels a lot better when your longest range weapon (i.e your only long range sniping weapon) does 600 more damage over a similar-level fang, and over twice that of a similar-level lysander
time to do it all over again but with WD on Hard this time
……. That actually sounds vaguely enjoyable
i mean, it does a lot of damage at the cost of being one of fencer's heaviest and slowest weapons
ahh, so gallic cannons
with proper recoil management equipment, you can really pump out the shots with those.
you really don't need recoil management for the gallics—at most, you would like an arm exo
if you're double-wielding them, they sort of naturally cancel out their recoil. if you're one-handing one, the recoil is less of an issue than the aim inertia
oh no, the recoil management shortens the cooldown on firing the other cannon.
they just do that naturally
or just moving after firing.
the muzzle stabilizer equipment purely affects your camera iirc
the animations, windup, etc. don't change
not the muzzle stabilizer, there's another thing.
huh... always felt like it changed things in 5.
the post-firing animation for the gallics are cancelable, so you can either cut in with your other gallic or some kind of other thing
for me, that other thing was a dash—because i wanted to spite multiple years of edf5 fencer convention and revisit 4.1
maximum overzoom fencer is a great trip.
i think i basically only used hybrid mobility builds for my fencer sniping, because the sluggishness of swapping to your other loadout, firing, trying to avoid enemy shots, etc. really was not tolerable for me
dps obviously takes a hit but i can technically keep firing for longer without much consequence
with handcannon i can also pull double duty against fliers and smallish hordes due to penetration and how quick it fires
I meant trying with Wing Diver
An air fight in the air, actually being able to contest the bugger
Etc
no, i don't actually imagine the WD fight with the final boss to be much better than fencer's
her flying was toned back a little in 6 iirc, and the guy flies a literal kilometer+ in the air
she has access to some serious long range superweapons, though, so fingers crossd
cough stardust cannon cough
more like raijin or plasma great cannon, but the stardust cannon has always been a standout in the otherwise languishing particle cannon weapon family
because of it's "okay, fire all the ammo now" philosophy
i think the more interesting conundrum will be hauling around a long range weapon like the two above while still being able to contend with the summons
but stardust does deal with summons. usually.
it woudln't be my first choice for ultra-long range shooting nor alien clearing
still has a lot of use but i don't think it's quite here
entirely unrelated piece of info, though: since edf5, certain vehicles that continue to fire even after you leave the vehicle can damage shield beareres (and now tail anchors) through their shield

....... do the EDF devs let us have ANY fun these days?
they nuked my turrets
theyve butchered fencer (kinda not really Im just salty about dash canceling)
and now WINGDIVER?
considering the amount of qol and other buffs done to other things
..... but..... but my moping. and raging. and outcry.
for the most part, yes, it wasn't actually that substantial of a nerf
she can't hang eternally in the air with dashes and she can't dash as much anymore iirc
in trade she gets an entire extra weapon slot, 1.25x faster emergency charges, etc. etc.
I bet with certain inferno setups I could attain near infinite flight
I know with fencer at least in 5 you could essentially fly
anywho BACK TO INFERNO GRINDING (Ive been reading a book all day instead)
it was good book
Im finished with it now.
the upgraded dunkel has an INCREASED RELOAD TIME
WHAT
I dont care if it has over double the range those 2 extra seconds of reload are life and death
theres gotta be a higher tier dunkel that doesnt have this horrific flaw.
there must be
only in the DLC
which isn't out yet for western players, but at least it's in the not-absurdly-difficult, story-focused DLC1
..................
they locked the best weapons in the game. once again. behind the DLC. which they dont even have the god damned grace to release to us yet?
the DLCs are always extra challenges, they take at least a month's worth of time to release them :p
yeah yeah
I guess I WONT be using the dunkel for endgame then like I thought I would be
because jesus christ why are some of these upgraded versions just downgrades in KEY ASPECTS
also wait boring
how do you know
I havent been able to find any completed weapon list anywhere
japanese atwiki
.......... the what
https://w.atwiki.jp/edf6
machine translated pages are fine enough of a read, none of it is incomprehensible for the main class pages
this is the wiki i've been reading on and off for two years while waiting for the western release; it also lists changes from 5 -> 6 and small tactics suggestions
I see
thats nice
hey firefox why cant you translate pages anymore
you used to
why now?
oh I see
firefox doesnt support japanese translation
........................................................................................................................................................................................................
try the TWP addon
it's basically just some machine translators stuffed into an addon but it's nice
anyway this + the discords have let me figure out what's en vogue for stuff
turns out lysanders have made a bit of a comeback since 4.1, and the ARs are now actually competent again
most notable are the slugger/orchid series having innate enemy penetration
wow even the DLC dunkel is 5 seconds of reload
..... I just
why game
why do this
what is the purpose. you took it from a general use scout rifle with a reasonable reload, to a barely usable piece of scrap.
the wiki literally sings the dlc dunkel's performances as functionally equal to that of the orchid
like yeah, the DLC version turns it into essentially an assault rifle but the question remains. why 5 seconds of reload
is this a positive or a negative.
i could ask why they halved the EMCs' damage but ultimately we'll never know
that is a positive
considering the languid performance of most other sniper rifles, that's a positive
the orchid rifles are also stand-outs too
maybe I just have weird standards
idk
hm
Ill have to figure out a new weapon of choice I thinks
alright the orchid 900 is interesting. potentially a new mainline weapon..... ima miss the dunkel though. what did you do to my boy game. you went from decreasing the reload time of each one..... to spiking it without doing...... anything else to make it worthwhile until the DLC weapon which then...... doesnt even feel like the same weapon.
christ
welp with some research and choices, Ive effectively finalized my ranger loadout until DLC comes
woo
now to just
grind out all the upgrades
the loadout until DLC happens and I probably upgrade the weapons.
all hail the mighty firecracker
slayer of gods
killer of me
mostly me these days
I can see why people use the guns even though they're worthless garbage
Im honestly considering using the god forsaken Vtuber distractors
because those at least have a rats chance in hell at actually doing something
even if its eating 1 single shot.
actually I should probably swap out the grenades to something that can blow up buildings
since Im ditching my explosives as they are now mostly a liability
although I wonder in the FC1K can blow up buildings now given that its an actual explosive rather than some tiny nades
I mean its still tiny nades. but they each feel like a real explosive
bah whatever Ill figure it out
i think most people probably find most guns servicable in their niches. your standards are just kinda high and you're playing in an unusual way
I want to pick one weapon set, and for that to be good, and usable, in most situations. to have this work I need good all rounder weapons that DESTROY in their chosen catagories while also being able to flex into other situations. the Dunkel with its 3 second reload time and full auto was perfect in this purpose and then for some drunken reason, they INCREASED THE RELOAD TIME. WHY. what kind of upgrade gets WORSE?!
i don't really know. some weapon lines simply have more variance in their weapons than just flat stat upgrades compared to their predecessors
variance yes, but its literally the same sniper, its even called an improvement. there is no reason for everything else on the gun to be slightly improved, to then get smited by a slower reload time
on the DLC one that turns it into a god damned minigun sure, why not
but for the non DLC ones which are just supposed to be improvements by every other measure, it makes no sense
bah my standards are probably just too high
for example, the penultimate flame revolver variant actually loses a significant amount of range compared to its predecessor
iirc 36m -> ~25m
this doesn't really change the use case of the flame revolver, but makes its use a little more constrained when you pull it out
and then that all goes out the window with the hellflame revolver, which just has like 96m of range with absolutely no hint or trend that it would do that
Yeah. See that….. that feels like poor game design
Weapons should get incrementally better
I just
This is one of the reasons I liked the massive weapon lists from prior games
Because there were always 3 variants of your favorite gun to fine tune what you needed within a given level range
Now it’s just “hope the devs made the final version good and usable”
For most people, taking a two second hit on reload speed probably falls within the "usable" range.
the bigger conundrum for the dunkel series is that it only goes up to level 62 basegame, so for the top of inferno it might not be as good of a damage option as other snipers
....... okay so maybe my standards are a LITTLE high.
debatably
alright well thats enough EDFing for a while...... I need time to calm and reset cause Im starting to just play sloppy
Oh that’s awesome
i think some of the weapons are out of order, but this is both a checklist and a stats list
Yup
starting WD on hard, last playthroughs were on normal
suffering through the "dinky starter weapons" gauntlet against enemies that actually pose a threat
good times
theres a reason Im doing heavy inferno grinding
I refuse to suffer through dinky weapon syndrome again
call me old macdonald, cause it's farming time!
WOOOOOOOOOO
okay, i got my footing on WD weapons
the secret is to always use mag blaster
the partial reloads they gave it make it a scarily competent weapon for practically everything
yeah, not having to fully recharge it makes the thing entirely better than in 5
But I like spark vines…….
Still have a Plasma big type I hope?
yes, the plasma big cannons are still a thing
plasma cannons were (un)fortuantely relatively untouched outside of an uncalled for accuracy nerf
this means that big cannons/great cannon are as silly as ever, however the grit shots / plasmafalls / etc. do not win
the bolt shooters were also buffed, with a 1.5x damage increase most notably
heh... heheheh... my friends and I just played through missions 34-51. ||Kruul suck solo, but are a joke in coop||
kruul are mostly a matter of weapon choice and playstyle it feels like
- ranger: snipers that bypass shields, sustained midrange DPS with ars
- wingdiver: one (1) mag blaster, a dragoon lance
- fencer: a good mobile melee loadout
- AR: drone cheese (i haven't been able to confirm)
but seriously, kruul are a joke with a dragoon lance or a reliable magblaster
Boring you’ve played fencer ye? Is melee n shield viable?
always has been, but it didn't take much precedent in my normal difficulty playthrough
deflect cell, tower/deflect shield, and a dash cell is probably what i would run
but shield armor + barricade probably isn't noxiously immobile now with the buff to the number of base dashes and boosts
alternative fencer weapon: flame revolver. the things are vicious now and penetrate the kruul's shields.
I see
they always did comical amounts of damage, but the gatling buffs applied to them now, so getting a good delay stat is a little less important
Neat
anyway scylla as wd are a total joke with the weapons i have
power (pulsar) spear, magblaster DA
short range weapons need not apply
ironically i had more of a struggle with the scylla as fencer due to my (at the time) lousy ranged dps options
that was more of a normal difficulty issue but, god i can just use the magblaster DA for everything within 180m
Scylla honestly are meat shields. They’re like gold ants to me. Dangerous if ignored, otherwise harmless.
The danger of a Scylla is when you think you’re safe and then it bulldozers you for 80% of your health.
Because you lost track of the red dot
red drone syndrome
for the record the most damage i took while fighting scylla was when i accidentally clipped myself with my own power spear and lost about 90% of my hp
Is that what the community calls it?
no, but that's probably the most iconic form of it
the radar is useful for a lot of things, but sometimes you just have to trust your peepers
Yeah
And my peepers said I was safe while the radar was screaming at me
Sooooo

Scylla body check me fairly often because I’m distracted by Kruul and squids….. and then they just show up. I need to look around more tbh
I’m too used to sniping from a healthy distance.
classic wing diver moment
unfortunately npc wds are also most liable to graze a power spear stream and die instantaneously
No they are liable to shout “GET DOWN SIR” and eat 37 grenades to the face killing BOTH OF US!
i really wish we had basic npc platoon commands
literally just telling them to stop or follow would be insane qol
“Stay still”
“Do not fly”
“STOP JUMPING IN FRONT OF MY EXPLOSIVES”
Mission 47ish
I completed EDF5, wanted to move onto EDF 6 but it just keeps crashing on the steam deck for me
Hmm, is there a chance it's trying to boot like with pc, through a nonexistent "integrated graphics" card, and then crashing when it routes directly into the cpu?
Basically it's still trying to startup as if it's on a ps5
EDF6 has a noninsignificant amount of crashes
especially with AMD gpus, it seems.
i think there were people who got it working on steam deck fine but i'd need to ask
Yeah, I had to fix it with an nvidia gpu, as well. Defaults to not using your graphics card, and I had to go manually into the gpu settings to make the program default to using it.
WD is kinda fun because she has certain weapons that get a new lease on life as your energy cores get better
unfortunately, suddenly you're reliant on getting lucky enough for a weapon to actually get upgrades when it needs it
this is my experience with the pulsar spear m4 (apparently has the highest damage out of all the spears) and the lvl 15 plasma big cannon
First Mission Pack DLC is released
What happened to the player character prior to EDF6, a soldier who traveled through time and tried to save humanity over and over again? A prequel to the game for select elite EDF members, with over 15 additional missions of varying difficulty. An astonishing enemy that no one has ever seen awaits you in a hopeless battle. This is your fate... O...
neato
but... I'm not done the normal missions yet
it's not like you need to do 'em now
|| Gigantic Armament Barga ||
I love, the the solution to all of our problems, was just giant robots.
"Just punch it in the face!" every edf sarge ever
I mean specifically in this game they go "giant robot? what are you gonna do with that?!"
when like
guestures at anime
and that's my third run done of edf6.
jousting the final boss with the raijin was honestly pretty fun.
so far i have
- normal: ranger
- normal: fencer
- hard: wing diver
i'll probably play fencer again on hard so i can flesh out ranger a little more; i want to have one more run in mobility heaven before being stricken down to the earth like a fly
me and lawd have cleared hard as both our first runs
Nice
Now do inferno
That’s the plan
after doing a full run (and having played edf5 before) i had a lot of fun
2 complaints as a fencer are why the hell are the leg exo. v1 and v2 40 levels apart and weapon diversity (||i want the bee needle launcher back||)
EDF6 has some WEIRD level gaps.
are the level gaps that weird? surely it would've been present in 5 too
let me check
oh. huh.
that is weird.
unfortunately, however, that's just how it went in 5.
first crop is from the edf6 list, second from the edf5 list.
Correction: EDF has some drunken level gaps
Probably because everything is balanced around the toxic star system. (Yes I know these can’t be starred but let me finish)
Typically these gaps were filled with other nearly identical pieces of gear, but now there are large gaps for marginal increases, and I wonder if during development these gaps were left in the sub equipment, because they were also going to be starable.
i don't really know what drives the huge level gaps, but sometimes there's simply not enough weapons to cleanly spread out across the levels
in the case of the leg skeeltons i imagine they get partially filled by using the generic all-rounder exoskeletons
trying to understand what exactly drives the choices behind weapon balance and placing is basically just conjecture
i mean, i don't really know if the upgrade system is directly linked to the creation of level gaps
but it does suck nonetheless
I mean, its hard to say, but the upgrade system was meant to be an improvement, and while it was neat at first, now it just feels like tacked on grind
i actually cheated max upgrades for everything in my EDF5 save, but in retrospect it removed like the one thing that made me want to more singleplayer runs
there's a lot of ways they could've gone about it outside of raw rng
absolutely
one of my prefered preposed solutions is to GARUNTEE, each weapon crate upgrades SOMETHING
if you pick up a crate, it should do something. not make you look at your 20+ loot screen and see you got 1 upgrade for a random wing diver weapon you'd never heard of
especially considering how make-or-break some weapon stats are
yesh
range, lock-on speed, and accuracy are really big pain points
my main things are range, speed, and reload
my bolt shooter shouldn't be so inaccurate that i can't reliably shoot at a transport ship hatch
without those 3, a weapon is worthless
my high powered sniper rifle shouldnt randomly miss by 45 degrees because the game chose to not give me upgrades
and a missile launcher that takes a full seven seconds to make a full lock is not viable for crowds
that's what happened with my FGX HAIL upgrades for fencer in 5
it was stuck at a 0.5 second lockon speed for an entire online run until after we beat the final boss
antoehr minor thing, although this is more weapon sandbox than it is upgrades
each weapon should have a final version in the highest tier of weapons
I do not like when I enjoy a weapon and randomly it just CEASES to exist after level 40
or after level 40 theres a weapon called the same thing but has an entirely different purpose
EDF6 was a little better with this, as it added a couple later-game variants for stuff like the blood storms
(or introducing an entirely new weapon family to a non-DLC version of blazer)
but otherwise, yeah.
it's probably for balancing purposes, but it's annoying when that happens
even still
just a version with better damage even if all other stats are identical so you can take it to the late game
because some of us grow very attached to how our weapons function
 i'm not so attached
bah humbug
all i'm hoping right now is that they actually deliver on the epic account ordeal
playing sp is actually pretty nice now that i don't have to figure out what weapons are on-level, but i like playing online with friends
i kinda wish that the scaling wasn't so harsh, though. 2.6x hp completely reshapes what weapons you pick
by that side I mean the whole "epic acount bad" side of things.
I love MP
I just dont care that its currently through epic
i care less about the account and moreso overlay you have to dig into the files to disable
this trashes a lot of breakpoints for AoE crowd clear weapons, since most lighter weapons just barely clear fodder enemy HP in sp
half-related, but apparently they share completion medals between online and offline now
it's a nice change for completion, but has weird interplay with what i interpret as the "real difficulty" of EDF
yeah
all I know is that the blood storms do great in SP or MP
they do not care what your HP is
you will die now
i'll get to try the later variants once i progress in my fencer Hard run
TLDR: even minimally upgraded theyre just, GOOD.
its one of the few weapons that does not need a ton of work, although with upgrades it gets stupidly better
I'd say most of rangers snipers are in a similar boat to that. a sniper will serve you well. a heavily upgraded one will thrash everything
imo the second bloodstorm i got did not nearly perform as well as the first (i might have gotten shafted on upgrades)
also my experience is purely mp and most of the time in a 2-3 man team
That would do it
presumably that last clause simply means that you don't need an epic account for online steam play anymore

if it means i don't have to load up random third party junk for edf online i'm not complaining
fair
That is what they're saying with this yes
They worded it a little odd, translation trouble I guess, but basically you only need to link epic if you want to play with epic players
it's just saying if you want to play with a friend, and they're on EGS, you'll need an EGS account. in far too many words.
friend tried playing mp on steam
still asks you to make an epic account it seems, even if you don't necessarily nees to link it
i need to ask around more or try circumventing it myself
slowly working my way up on my fencer Hard run
finally nearing up the eighties, to the scylla part of the game
kinda forgot that scylla are actually a tangible, annoying threat that forces me to consider what the hell i have in my loadout that can do 20k damage safely from a distance or quickly close-up
wingdiver absolutely trounced these enemies due to the sheer existence of her Cannon specials and mag-blaster DPS
yeah Scylla are nasty.
fencer doesnt quite have the tools that work great against htem (in my experience)
at least
not hte tools I liked anyways
i don't have melee tools that let me stunlock them reliably (and therefore safely) yet
my best shot to do it without sending any allied npcs to their death or choking on poison myself is to use either a double handcannon or double gatling setup
double gatling was what i used my last run on Normal, though technically i can also do it by using disruptors for ~8 of them
wait you can command NPCs?
huh? no.
when i say "send them to their deaths" i mean going into a melee tangle with a scylla to kill it fast will probably drag my npcs into its range too
Ohhhh
i can avoid this by simply not recruiting them but the issue of being in a scylla's poison cloud still exists
Bah. Recruiting npcs is for the best.
my armor values are so overblown that i typically measure my success in most missions to be how many NPCs managed to survive
I see….
@lofty imp yo, you said you didnt wanna touch it cuz of the epic stuff yea?
bit late, but i played a fair amount on the weekends with a friend
i can confirm you can play just fine without an epic account
...however, the desync is still really bad.
this usually doesn't come into much play but when trying (not) to shoot your teammates it becomes glaringly obvious that desync is a lot worse in 6 compared to 5
basically every mission ended up with it being impossible for me or my friend to actually know where the other actually was, and the other player would often shoot off into a totally different direction
oh dear
...nonetheless i still managed to (accidentally) instantly kill them while shooting at scylla with gallic cannons
Woo!
crazy to think how long it's been since wander's EDF 4.1 playthrough. the moment i saw it i was hooked
anyway, i honestly thought handcannon/gallic + dash melee would just be a weird, "off-meta" pick for fencer
but it's served me really well across the entire game; the mobility and flexibility is well worth the DPS you sacrifice by only bringing one cannon
force blades/axes are my preferred melee to pair with the cannons due to how well they complement the guns
good for efficiently breaking down shields for a gallic shot, decent at crowd clear to keep bugs off you while you fire, can serve as supplementary DPS if they have enough range
anyway, done with fencer on Hard since yesterday
that's WD and Fencer done, so it's ranger than air raider
The Earth is in pieces...again! We've gotta do more to save the planet! --Loads and Loads of Giant Enemies--The square Earth is under attack by giant enemies. Giant ants, giant spiders, giant bees, giant scorpions, giant UFOs, giant robots, giant monsters.... And if that weren't enough, there are also giant aliens, and even giant EDF soldiers. ...
$49.99
interesting game in the same world
WB2?! gimme
returning to ranger after 3 straight runs of fencer/wd mobility is painful
not being able to dip to the side to pick up extra loot without dragging npcs with you, really needing to use the default side-camera for grenades
ayo
I was always interested in World Brothers, but never tried it
now ur telling me theres a new and improved one
Ranger mobility is fiiiinnneeeee!
After you get some of the endgame upgrades that boost your flat walking speed
air raider mobility without vehicles. become as tumbleweed.
Exactly!!!
granted, the ranger gets roadrunner speeds at around item level 65 or so, but still.
outside of the inherently grounded playstyle—which is made worse by how i need to use the side-angle positions for grenade throws—ranger is pretty alright
i'm very much used to using the edf5 overhead camera, since it has more elevation and better FOV, but i forgot that ranger's assault rifles are just plain good
i was going to lament the snipers' lousy DPS but that's probably just my bad experience with the lysanders; the fang and the lysander both trade sustained DPS for range, shot speed, and burst damage
the rest upon observation seem pretty okay considering how easy it is to use them compared to the other classes' long range options
yeah, sniper play is very much alpha strike, swap weapons to clear the chaff, repeat.
The dunkle, was an astounding weapon for good all around gameplay
until
FOR SOME REASON
HALFWAY THROUGH ITS UPGRADE TREE
it just CHANGED SPECIALIZATIONS
I AM NOT OVER THIS NOR WILL I EVER BE
way further in on Ranger than last time i talked
got to the slugger NN2
now using to the slugger NN3
these things are downright ridiculous
their intended downside is that they have awful falloff at the edge of their range like the ravens alongside having poor rate of fire
but they do catastrophic amounts of damage close-up/mid-range and penetrate innately up to half of their ~180m range
pair that with their uncharacteristically good shotspeed, and that makes for a weapon family that entirely ignores a major issue that assault rifles have when dealing with enemy hordes or in-your-face enemies
yup. sluggers=death cannons.
ravens aren't bad per se, but you live and die off of their fire rate stars.
the orchids seemingly get silly by meshing penetration with ranged performance, so that's great
the g&ms obviously also have this but are unpleasant to use for obvious reasons
bah, you weren't using those knuckles anyway. took me 3 hours to respond cause I was retaping mine back together.
i like the epsilon/varius for ranger
typically it's kind of hard to justify using either of the two over the regular armors, but they stand on their own pretty well when you have a good situation for them
unfortunately the varius doesn't become speedy until the hardest/inferno iterations it seems, but it's a fairly solid bombardment vehicles
the epsilon obviously is the best but it's a little slower than the varius at times. hoping it's still speedy enough to keep up with the penultimate mission though
I've seen promising things from the keppler line, though I've not dabbled enough in ranger vehicles to know for sure.
alas, I'm maining fencer with the beeg kabooms this game
also, who's idea was it to nerf the blood storm's micromissile count to 10 after the first iteration? I want their kneecaps.
the same asshole who took away my favorite sniper rifle and BUTCHERED IT
THEY RUINED THE DUNKLE
ITS AWFUL
...vengeance.
dunkle was my baby in 5
but yeah, cluster mortars get more submunitions as they level up, but the blood storm loses it's whole stormy-ness.
the first 3 iterations are perfect.
but 4 and onward
they RUINED IT
AWFUL
TERRIBLE
THEY LOWERED THE RELOAD SPEED
THEY CHANGED ITS FUNDIMENTAL PURPOSE
AWFUL
TERRIBLE
you are being killed by two extra seconds of reload speed
anyway, the keplers are generally terrible unfortunately. i was really excited for them because they looked to be the "revolver cannons on tanks" i kept joking about in the EDF discord
awww, disappoint.
outside the DLC variant that has innate penetration on its bullets, the damage, bullet speed, and general handling of the keplers is really subpar
it has no penetration?!
PT on weapons is a privilege, not a right
fencer has many privileges
strong PT weapons is one of them
anyway i really don't get your massive conniptions over the dunkel's 1 extra second of reload time
it's the same as it ever was in 5; it was never changed between games—that's just how weapon variants are sometimes
do you have any idea how long 2 extra seconds of reload speed is in higher difficulties? answer: YOU DO. BECAUSE YOU HAVE PLAYED THEM.
not to mention they turned the thing into a chaingun rather than an automatic sniper
2 seconds is honestly not that big of a difference for a sniper if you simply use a different weapon to defend yourself instead
Boring.
the upgraded versoin
had a worse
reload speed
than the earlier versions
without a significant bump in damage to account for that
this is unacceptable game design
i'd say that's a pretty big jump
ranger's snipers never really had good DPS (or sustained DPS) relatively; the dunkels are actually quite good in that aspect it seems
and then they
RUINED IT
DESTROYED
DESICRATED
I DO NOT FORGIVE
I DO NOT FORGET
it was the same in 5 and if you use it as a normal sniper rifle it's practically the same
around that level range you start getting extremely competent assault rifles in the orchid/stork series anyhow
nyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhhhhhhh
I wanted my dunkle!
and they ruined it!
which also do more dps overall and in short-term
my dunkle!
it's a second of reload speed
see prior hissyfit
i'm still chuffed over the fact that they only give us one heavy revolver nix and then make the rest of the heavy nix mechs weird, janky rocket-nixes.
that is kinda dumb
my only complaint with the dunkel series is that they cut it off at level 62, leaving you with the slightly-awkward ptarmigan series to carry the torch of rapid-fire sniper
- the firecracker series is stupid silly (sure, let me do 100k+ to a big enemy)
- the ptarmigan is pretty nice once you get the cadence down
- if i get my accuracy up high enough, the UMAX grenade launcher is probably going to be my choice for ultra-long-range ranged DPS due to the stupid-high 440 shotspeed upgrade i got for it
Firecrackers are legitimately, the best grenades you can use from my own experience.
like Ive tried to find better grenades and well
typically everything else just gets you killed
firecrackers deal big damage, can be used as AOE crowd control, and DONT INSTANTLY KILL YOU (unless you use one of the final series which then might nick you for over 90% of your healthbar)
if you accidentally point blank them, they will definitely kill you
but, yeah, generally a lot of the typical explosive grenades get increasingly risky to use the higher level they get
the MG grenades have dangerously high damage values for a game where things sitting right over your head is fairly common
i'd use the Mouse grenades but my highest one in the Hard range are these lousy timed grenades
Few things more funny than hucking a dng into a crowd, though.
Even late tier mouses get absurdly large damage values and AOEs.
yeah, i'm aware
they always give serious value given their range and damage
-# honestly i prefer them over the DNG given how i'm not under threat of blowing myself up and killing all my npcs nearby
grenades, snipers, and assault rifles.
the binary grenades are fairly competent once they get large enough to hit airborne enemies/block a whole street, but it's really easy to accidentally screw up
had to like, uninstall/hide EDF6 from my steam library momentarily because it was suckin' up all my free time when i was supposed to be working
probably also a symptom of procrastination and stuff, but damn i could play this game for days on end
anyway i finished the ranger run a while ago now, so i've been doing the overdue air raider run
and, like, yeah they really mangled his strikes reload-wise.

his nixes got hit with the reload hammer, too, but his other vehicles got buffs iirc and they're totally solid (and a lot more nimble)
but blanket 2x reload times on gunships and increased reloads on airstrikes really makes you consider both bringing anything more than 1 point-reloaded strike / no drone weapon whatsoever
his drones are fairly solid; the bomber/strafing drones are actually incredibly good and fairly reliable
his gunship drones are a lot more of a mixed bag, definitely wouldn't recommend them for anti-bug unless you're doing it for self defense. the arcing beacons is pretty damn punishing on his normal short-range drones
the less said for his anti-android options, the better. spritefall might be pretty good but nothing is more profoundly dissappointing than a phobos strike that turns out to be a total dud.
finally finished edf6 on Hard as air raider, that's all four classes done
- normal, ranger
- normal, fencer
- hard, wing diver
- hard, fencer
- hard, ranger
- hard, air raider
-# upgrades still felt a little mediocre for AR, but probably a lot more consistent than if i tried it earlier
fencer's unsurprisingly changed the least from 5 -> 6. AR definitely still has powerful weapons, both old and new, but playing him still felt a bit like a persistent struggle
i blame it largely on the inconsistency of the beacon drones and the massive reload nerf on his gunships—he doesn't really struggle with big enemies after a point, but simply defending himself is just kinda unpleasant sometimes
his gunships still do ludicrous damage—especially his minigun/autocannon/105mm strikes, but you cannot rely on them for self defense against fodder
this applies to his similarly-ludicrous strafing run drones, which do boatloads of damage and cleave through hordes
so inevitably you end up using a beacon gunship drone, and up until ~lvl30 they're probably the main reason why defending yourself is unpleasant (even if they're way safer than gunships and don't suck as bad as limpets)
missing beacons, drones missing, drones not killing, drones having to chase a fast enemy, having to fight androids, not having enough range
maybe it's a fault of being too "locked in" on the idea of what weapons i can use, but a gunship drone is the only thing that has a decent uptime and damage and ergo i am always faced with how awful they handle against specific enemies
there are certainly missions where he just totally cleans house—the last ~5 or so big missions were probably some of the best runs i've had as any class—but in general gameplay he just struggles.
i guess one way to put it is that though he has the highest potential out of all classes, the air raider experience simply has a lot of "friction" that makes it harder to enjoy
been playing the DLCs on Hard with a friend, got through DLC1 just fine but DLC2 is the "super hard challenge" pack and that much is obvious
we spent a significant amount of time slamming our heads against the annoying "spam the kaiju" mission that 1/2 of the classes really aren't built to handle
still have to get and do those, any good stuff for fencer in there? (if there is even new weapon-stuff)
there's always new DLC weapons for in inferno
and yes, fencer has a fairly good selection of DLC weapons
been slowly grinding through DLC2 Hard with a friend
the final mission is, perhaps unsurprisingly, really awful.
what's the worst part is that the phase we're dying at is the very last wave, where we just can't handle the stuff being thrown at us
i do not actually know this, but it feels like edf has similar enemy scaling to monster hunter, where it is more of a binary multiplayer < - > singleplayer thing than 1-2-3-4 people scaling
It is 1-2-3-4 scaling, but if you're 1 person in an MP lobby it does 4p scaling
yes
there's differences between 2p 3p and 4p, but solo online has the same scaling as 4p (presumably to discourage you from doing that or as an extra challenge)
fair, but my point was it feels like the game doesn't scale in a linera fashion, so you are at a disadvantage with 2 players vs. 3 or 4
like how in monster hunter in multiplayer the monsters get scaled to 3-4 players (if i remember right)
the 4x solo mp scaling is to stop players from farming out the armor and weapon level cap before selling "quick leveling" to newbies.
well, it's not really like that matters anymore since completion now counts SP and MP
they've had it for quite a few of the games, and that was their justification when it was first put in.
so getting to 70% is now like way way faster
exponentially, yeah.
read: me, who feels a little bit of an ego boost waltzing into a Hard lobby with 60+% completion
oh, right, i forgot to mention that we finally cleared it on thursday
i was AR, friend was WD. i believe our loadouts were:
AR: 120mm neutralize/Vulcan M1/Bulge laser F + Anti-Aircraft Bunker/Nix Red Armor
WD: Phalanx/Bolt Shooter RF + Luminous Shield Z4/V5 Plasma
neutralize/vulcan were primarily for mini-kraken and elder kruul, turns out you can just ignore kruul shields even when they're like twice the size due to the angling of gunship strikes. bulge laser was for the spinel and the ring cannons while red armor was primarily for fighting grenadiers and mobility. bunkers were vital in sitting in one place and bombarding ring cannons/kraken or kruul and saving hp on any nixes i had
phalanx is kind of a niche weapon, but it handles kruul way better than something like a mag blaster and is surprisingly useful against kraken. bolt shooter RF for general long range shooting. good because it penetrates enemies innately. luminous shields can be spammed out indefinitely to absorb damage.
a general key to doing well in the mission for me was not sitting in a nix, on any non-grenadier target i can do way more damage by sitting in a bank of bunkers. it also helps a lot to have good upgrades on the range of the gunships or else you're going to have pretty petulant range for what the mission demands
at the final wave we moved to a different corner of the map for slightly better cover. instead of staying in my nix i opted to sit in my electromagnetic bunkers to help take down high grade drones and kruul.
the game drops two huge, hard to deal with enemies on you when you kill four ships, but opens up the spinel to kill after kill only a couple more
the spinel has extremely low health relative to what something like the bulge laser outputs, so killing it will immediately disappear all enemies and win you the mission if you can one-cycle it.
anyway
saw first-hand how obnoxiously powerful they let fencer become with his Reflector shields.
Oh?
in 4.1 and 5 you could only sort of spam reflect using the same key as the other shields, but in 6 they let him just brandish and continually reflect
by the level range of DLC2 Hard you can simply wield two of them and simply negate all incoming damage to your face
we're talking four blue queens worth of damage
indefinite so long as you angle it right, not great with the level 27 one but midway through you get a level 68 one.
all that's needed it seems is a leg exo and a shield protection armor to give the reflectors more HP
throw the enemy's attack back at them
a lot of DLC2 enemies also happen to have obnoxiously powerful attacks
not all of them but that's why you have a second loadout with just one reflector and a galleon or something
the most obvious example are the excavator (nacre) variants, whose attacks do such insane amount of damage that you can just kill them by continuously reflecting their own projectiles back into their weakpoint
I see
it also works against the bubble kraken, i guess. i never really got a close look on what was happening because i was just playing normal fencer and trying not to get vaporized by the incoming wave of iridescent magenta spheres
i was having fun as normal fencer, though. his gatlings got big buffs and it's fun getting an excuse to wield two of them
the disruptors also mysteriously got buffed in 6, so they just have even more ammo when it already wasn't a problem
oh my god
managed to get a random lobby of 2 non-english speakers through DLC2 M33 Midnight Battle on Hard
pulled out leviathans and at certain moments literally told the air raider "no" and "yes" depending on what pylon they highlighted
for reference, the gimmick of this mission is that there's a bunch of nonthreatening rusty pylons surrounded by sets of pristine pylons that spawn awful enemy variants when activated
