I like the idea that you get sidequests from overhearing conversations. It's neat. But it also feels like Todd Howard is right next to me shouting "seee look how big the game is! so much content"
Walk 50m and get 3 new quests
anyone seen a time gated quest?
It does, but for me it felt like it only happened first time i visited?
Yeah it does seem to be a mostly first time thing. It's also a good way to make sure players don't miss quests. I'm just complaining really.
@charred flower mags leave your inventory BUT their benefits don't disappear
ARGGG there is no rotation snapping
and I can't get things not cockeyed in my home
oh that is comical
one side of a display case holds 3 items, no matter the item
Shit where did I sell the heart of deimos
Well house is kinda disappointing
It doesnt have any kind of central storage, but you can place crates which hold 150 weight
I just need to get a two aluminum and 4 structural for each crate
I knocked out an enemy ship’s engines and they straight killed me by doing that. The AI is deadly when you knock their engines.
I was in the middle of trying to not die at the time. I failed. First and only ship death so far
Also my controller left joystick has gone drifty wifty
Had to switch to my dad’s controller
I had a few deaths in ship already
Turns out taking a smugglers package makes the client mad
and then they jumped me right after I warp in
Nice lmao
Is there a place to sell contraband on akila? I don’t have shielded cargo and opened up a contraband cache that had a lot of stuff in it
I've done my intial semi-rush run(and feel a bit guilty seeing things like "dont rush it") but now settling in for the long haul
I’m doing a mix of focusing on main quests and then getting completely distracted for hours at a time
I leveled up like 3 times on one planet trying to do a scanning side quest and all 3 points I shoved into the scanning peel
Need more to fill the cabinet
note: If the the robots at the wind farm are warning you to not enter the work area. don't enter the work area.
oh..|| there is a terminal inside to authorize human workforce||
Found an area like that but ||the terminal had bugged outand wouldn't let me use it|| Was wondering if that's what it was supposed to do
Does Akila City have somewhere to sell contraband?
yeet good to know
My dad got home so i had to get off his xbox, but I'll be getting on later tonight to sell the 120k in contraband I found
I wanna build my own ship (and I'll probably make a sleek little fighter ship) but I don't have access to higher tier parts yet
This has given me the itch to play no man's sky again
But I've done the beginning so many times
And there's just.. no goal
Or well
Grind and exploration of an infinite area doesn't hold my attention anymore
I really want to be that guy that plays it endlessly and builds massive monuments
but i just can't get into it
Forgive the America units but..

Mildly amusing meme. Hope it made you exhale air thru your nose in amusement
I'll be honest
I completely missed the pronoun option
Just didn't even register it was a thing
Like, i geniunely thought they just made it up for something to get mad at
Maaan
I didn't spend enough time exploring the cities
The children are adorable
Their actual characters this time around
Haha
One shopkeepers tells you to fuck off if you ask to buy a digital book
The only child I’ve seen is ||Sam’s kid||
I’ve run around the cities a good bit
Never seen any kids
there are a number down in the well
Oh yeah, there was that one kid during the tree quest
I forgot about him, since he had like 5 lines max
and yeah, the ones by the soccer net. forgot about those, too
no this is absurd
Huh.. turning scanner on will auto switch you to the mining lazer
yup handy
Also hold right click with cutter, doesnt look like it changes anything but it mines WAY faster
Yeah I saw that tip in a video
Also had a actually kinda scary moment
fought a couple of Twistfins for the first time
she's cute...
People giving low effort tips on drilling huh
What about the tip that the sound it makes and the reticule will change when you are hitting something valid, especially in the case of glitchy resources around artefacts
yea its dumb that you need to have the name popup for it to do anything is clunky
Scanning also confuses me, sometimes the game outright refuses to scan a dead creature, then later it's happy to accept dead creatures
It's simple and not overly complicated
Which is nice
I plan on making a non-lethal fighter so I can steal all the ships of pirates >:)
And what about when there are more than a single pirate? can't board when engaed with multiple ships
Take out the weakest ones and board the big Boi for max loot
Huh, that was an interesting side quest chain
I flew to a random system and got a distress call from a research outpost, and suddenly I'
*I'm wrapped up in this big conflict against raiding spacers that's brought the local FC rangers and even a squad of UC marines together for mutual survival
Will the frostbite condition I got while running around on this iceball fade over time?
Or do I need to specifically cure it
I think you need to cure it, or go see a doc
Aye
There is cellular regen in T3 phys but that is big investment
Jeez some of the random space encounters are hilarious
ooookk didn't know there was zero g areas
for me it doenst even do it and basically auto does it once its dead
i do want that regen but im only close to it cause ive been spending points in weight gain
pretty space game
custom ship?
ahh
that's the one where all my moaning about medpacks came from
I did it at level 8
im just making my way there doing things
I just saw "ooh quest" and was not prepared
im probably doing it at level 9 or 10 when i finally reach it
im saving my laser rifle ammo so i at least have an advantage when i go over there
I've somehow accumulated over a thousand shots of the Equinox's laser ammo type so I have one of those as my basic trash clearing rifle
combined with the double barrel cuz I have a few hundred shots for that, and that's a very ammo efficient gun
ive been randomly finding a good one here and there combined with my laser rifle perk
combined with having robot buddy with me
yee
Funnily enough I have a medpack equinox that I just hand to the NPC, seems to work good enough
I mentioned it yesterday but I have Sarah as my buddy with the grenade rifle thing. The classic bethesda "give a companion 1 ammo and they'll have infinite" trick is quite effective with big guns
Who needs lasers when you got a magnum
I'd use one of those if I had more ammo for it
I buy all .43 that I see
also I found an interesting gun here that I've yet to try out
I just wish I could see a weapons lvl becuase for some reason this one does like 6x the dmg of other identical ones I have found since
oh jeez weapons have levels?
pretty sure yea, some kind of hidden lvl system for gear
its the only way I can explain that stupid pistol
like it one shots anything fleshy lvl 15 or lower
bots usually take a few
I was writing off all the deviance in the weapons as the mods, theres some big stat changes depending on the mods used
Pretty sure it comes down to the rarity and mods
Jaz, that pistol dropped naked with nothing, those three mods I added and none add dmg If I remember right
Prefixes generally reflect the mods the weapon generated with
Or was made into is it?
It generates a new name when you mod a weapon?
usually it says modified but I guess it drops that when you add even more?
Wow it's just that easy.
||Recued Barret by just walking in and asking for him, since I am currently a member of the Crimson fleet for a different quest||
Ok, so heres a completely default Eon, from the tutorial area that I decided not to pick up before
That means, L1 planet, tutorial zone, no buffs to this weapon
We all agree thats a L1, unmodified Eon?
Time to go hunt for an Eon from a L50 area I guess
I will be doing this both ways, I have a L1 weapon I will be modding 'to the quality of' the one I loot from a higher planet, and then I shall mod that higher planets Eon, to unmodded
Something I just considered, do perks effect the weapon stat cards?
I have absolutely no weapon perks
And I really mean that
So this is about as default a check as you can get
Anyway, I'm gonna spend the next 20 minutes trying to hunt down an Eon of basic rarity
See you in about 3 years
You can find a decent amount of ammo for it in Akila City
The weapons are leveled with names. So the base guns are just the guns with their names and stuff. A more powerful version that I’ve run into for those guns is having “calibrated” as a prefix word to it
I’m not a very high level (like level 16 I think?) so I’ve not run into much higher right now
just found this in a lvl 10 system
I am somewhat amused by this weapon
i became aware of that after seeing the heavy weapon perk
thats a weapon in real life you would not want to be firing in space

I saw the UC surplus guy down in the Well had two in boxes on the showroom floor but not one in his shop to buy
Improvised thruster
actually kinda makes me want to take it to a zeroG location and see if it actually does push you
weapon recoil does push in zeroG yea
so. I think I had a rocky start with starfield
But now that I've gotten used to it's quirks, I'm having a lot less frustrations and a lot more fun
its been mostly fine for me
only when im fighting aliens up close is when i struggle really
seriously dont try to melee aliens

I have yet to run into a zeroG location
Must be the tier after calibrated
Only one I found was a derelic casino in orbit of my dream homes planet
and it was intentionally zero-g, whole thing designed to be floating around
that and ive got a balanced boost pack now
Balanced boost pack and like two levels in its perk is all you need to reach orbit lmao
im still only on the first rank i can upgrade it if i have a point but im spending that elsewhere
I gotta say, whatever my rifle is after I've given it a long barrel, I really like this Orion gun, it fires two parallel shots per ammo
:3
now i gotta figure out where i can get a orion now
I've been getting them in L25-30 areas
also do you just buy ammo or just loot it from where ever
I have only ever looted ammo
I never use rapid fire guns and I'll usually shoot individual shots
Bethesda has never made automatic guns feel worth it
my ammo is slowly growing cause i was mostly meleeing and ive got a Cutlass
I'm the type of person who would aim to shoot 1 bullet on a semi auto
dahell, they have gyrojet pistols
that and i got a knife that lets me kill robots fast
Other than maybe in 76, if only because enemies tend to be weighted to drop the ammo you’re using
I have a knife too
mines the more thinner bladed one
Then I have my axe of bot shredding
That reminds me, I started as a former bouncer and have only meleed like 3 things the whole game
i think it does more damage then my cutlass but i prefer a longer blade
its in the 20s in terms of damage i think for both
This game better hope that none of this is 'to scale' or there shouldn't be anything besides a star here
Seeing how the planet is 'cold' with high gravity
'Cold' as in 'a frozen planet'
According to resources
well Im a little peeved
I clicked the stolen one, guess which it used
The funny thing about that is that I'm pretty sure I've never stolen a medpack before, I'm almost assuming that its seperating them for some reason
I don't even know when I stole it, just saw it a while ago when looking for random food to eat
Found a new type of cutlass
Nah seems to be a dagger of sorts
freaking baby bat'leth
yes the painblade
them va ruun sure do have a number of good blades it seems
well im glad the crimson ship that fled from me before i could walk inside is actually just in space above me for me to then board there
ok i find it hilarious that i can just sleep mid battle
wooo a usable flashlight
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/402?tab=description
That is dumb, you have to have three different weapons on a ship
I can't ditched all of kinetic and missile weapons for full particle beams
one for shields and the other 2 for wrecking the ship after shields are down
particle beams care not, they do 50/50
settled on an EM weapon, needed to test one out anyways
then you probably could go insane and have lots of particle beams
except you have to have 3 seperate weapon groups
got two heavier particle beams and two burst fire particle beams then a single EM
thats still mostly all particle beams so i dont see problem here
Learn more about Starfield at http://www.starfieldgame.com This video is part of a sponsored series with Bethesda Game Studios.
As Adam Savage and the Tested build team approach the final stages of this epic Starfield modelmaking project, the Frontier ship and cockpit diorama comes alive with our favorite part of modelmaking: the painting, deta...
What do you mean, you can just keep adding the same gun a few times till you hit power cap right? Or you mean you can't power multiple sets of the same gun? The game doesn't require you to complete a loadout with all three gun slots filled but it does require every weapon assigned to one of the three limited groups
You know
i think i may have a problem
Jaz-32 hours
Murgle-13 hours
Wander-108 Minutes
Weegy-52.3 hours
But i'm behind you guys in progression since i NG+
i also may of got a small bounty with the freestar cause i had contraband and when they tried to scan me i was just
BYE
and warped out
i was only passing through and i had to leap frog through them to get to where i was going
was also funny cause in the next system one of them started blasting at me so i fired back at there ship and sarah got angry
shame i couldnt say THEY FIRED FIRST YOU DUMB ASS
well that and i finally got a shielded cargo hold so hopefully no one finds my forbidden stuff
Also for weapon stuff
its nothing calibrated-refined
then a third one as well but that slips my mind
can we upgrade our weapons to that point or do we have to find those
Find
Is it actually best to go to NG+ so fast?
you only get things like a new ship from NG+ dont you
I did it in the wrong order, and due to some mental-illness it wouldn't let me feel comfortable doing other storylines till i reset
Well, I’ll at least unlock the ||power skill tree|| and then go to fuckin around
Its VERY GOOD
that secret susan mentioned
||Theres 25 powers. I only thought there was going to be like 5||
i was kinda hoping that the ||form powers would be things like you change into some crazy ass things|| but that doesnt seem to be the case
Nothing beats the coolness of in a firefight you're losing and desperately waiting for the airlock to cycle to give you cover and a breather
i had a funny moment where the airlocks were floating i could just walk in and out of a building without having to wait

Guess who accidentally destroyed some free star collective ships that attacked him
While Sam was their companion

I’m currently trying to find somewhere to clear my bounty
His affinity with me is so low that he’s not far from wanting to abandon me I bet
I managed to find a planet in a neutral system to make an outpost and put in a bounty clearing station
God i love Akila city
its so well designed
Neon is probably bethesda's best looking/structured
but Akila just has charm
He's pretty easy to rank back up. Try talking with cora and triggering events with her and he'll absolutely love you
I’ve gotten back to neutral responses after joining the ||free star rangers|| faction
He’ll probably like me pretty well by the end of this faction line
I've also crashed some 6-7 times, which happens to murder my ADHD hyperfocusing resulting in me burning out in an otherwise 'good enough' game to be stuck in
Otherwise your numbers are ROOKIE numbers Weegy
Back when Pillars of Eternity came out, in the first week, 168 hours per week, I had about 150 hours in the game by the first week I bought it
Has anyone else had the school bus event yet?
Nooo???
Keep an eye out for a ship named the "Mrs. Whitmore"
||Also keep 10 ship parts handy|| couldn't do it since I didn't have enough.
But also there was some extra dialog for currently being|| a crimson fleet member||
Those weigh a ton
yea I know but also you know|| keeping your ship together||
Eh
Just don’t get hit
I say as I spam ship parts to heal
I’m not a fan of getting better ship parts (the kind you build with) being locked behind a skill that’s on the third row
Cause that’s already an 8 point sink minimum just to get there
next class of reactor is locked behind skill or just the parts?
Starship Design skill
Each tier unlocks better parts to build with, so says the skill description
I thought reactor class was under piloting?
shrug
I'm tellin you what i read in the game on the starship design skill description
seriously considering just modding my inventory size
having to look though all these containers if I want to craft anything is just shit
and I have to add more but I ran out of aluminum again
Like why did they get rid of the workshop inventory/camp chest idea
seems like no has published an inventory size mod yet
did find this though
@thin pilot
https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/803
ahh should have looked for carry weight not inventory
Can you transfer cargo directly between two ships you own?
selecting home ship moves inventory automatically
I know it works for the cargo hold, not sure about the captains locker
Oh, I see
I was hoping to have a huge cargo hauler as a fleet ship and mobile inventory
If you build a cargo link at a base, you can access it from any cargo link terminal in major settlements(NA, AC, Neon, Cydonia, Hopetown, Etc)
Cargo link? O.o
The way its setup makes me thing its trying to pigeonhole you into
-cargo base
-Light Ship
and nice mod raider, thats gonna be superinteresting
but for me, i like the cap as my favorite ships are the corvettes/frigates that occupy the sizing starfield gives us in vanilla
I’m trying to get enough credits to buy a ship I saw for sale on new Atlantis
I really liked the look of it
But it’s like 200k
I’m halfway there though
And starfields out for the rest
The amount of people pissed at pronouns is weird
It's sad, but not surprising.
Va'ruun stuff is coool
to tell
did you tie them up and drag them kicking and screaming onto your ship or is this something weird where they just walked onto your ship and locked a door behind them
like into your ship?
yup
Are they still there?
Fun fact: there is an asteroid that is stuck with the frontier for me
Like, I kid you not, this thing has followed me around through every jump and even shown up in ship cutscenes
It’s not breakable either
It’s just there
A friend
congratulations on your adoption
So... Spoil me a little bit on the story, since it hasn't hooked me yet. The artifacts.. ||Is collecting all of them the whole plot, or just act 1 and then something™️ happens when you have them all, or..?||
huh UC distribution has a version of this for sale, shattering no less
38k creds though -_-
just wish the dang thing didn't weigh almost 16 for a single gun
Pocket change my dude
I love ||commander ikande||
I just wanna give him a hug lmao
Good dood
slowly pulls out cutlass
The moment he told me ||that he considers me as one of his own men|| for as long as I work for him, I started tearing up. Dude genuinely just wants to ||keep people safe and alive||
So what landed you in this situation?
Saw a ship land in the planet I was on
Sprinted into it
Killed the pirates on it (saving a free star ship that was literally on a sliver of health)
Forgot to check cargo hold or even the pirate bodies. Just booted up and jumped over to jemison
Yeah. It was literally a 0% chance of being undetected for the contraband. Also got a stolen gun taken too, but it’s fine cause I know where it spawns
Ahh got it now
Also why is there no way to directly hand over contraband?
I started by picking up a bottle I shouldn't have.
i picked up a few random things here and there
i didnt get it all cause i couldnt get in the master lock
There is a terrormorph in New Atlantis.
Hint
And yes I am still in New Atlantis
turns out you can just hop the wall around the city and there is a whole outside
Yup!
It’s not instances
It’s a nice callback to their earlier games like morrowind
The rock follows me between ships
hurry up and go investigate it and see if its a giant alien
I can’t. It stays the same distance from me no matter what.
||Jivanta|| is a cinnamon role and must be protected at all costs
why is it always when you hear fire fights on a planet its always someone fighting a terrormorph
this time it was a level 44
or a maggot
no in between
I have still yet to see one
i think if you explored on the very first planet you land on you should usually find one
the one that escaped the lab i would like to assume
im going to be insane now and say i want to see something like you splice yourself with terrormorph genes and you can shift into a terrormorpth werewolf style

Lmao
So I went and surveyed Earth and it looks like ||asteroids really fucked it up||
ok so this was a funny scenario for me
va ruun ship flies into orbit
me who killed everyone outside the ship and got on boarded it just as it flew off the surface
Bold of them to think they could escape you
||I think they call those nukes||
Hol up, you can alter your starting traits
As in I can remove introvert permanently
so yeh if you want to board a landed enemy ship after you kill everyone get on board REAL quick
i wish i had put introvert on in my case

Oh the Bridger is beautiful
Ok what idiot thought it was a good idea to stick a scope om a 40mm?
Long range scopes only
so it turns out unless i got weak shielded cargo holds they aint perfect
i still got found
at least i stole back all my loot from the chest
The surface is literally covered in ||asteroid chunks||. Besides, ||nukes|| wouldn’t have obliterated life and vaporized the oceans. Secondary succession would have taken over too fast. I mean, just look at ||Chernobyl|| as a real life example.
Look what mobile discord did to your messages for me
you need your phone checked
get to a phone doctor state for scrapcode infection
get the tech priests
I have discovered frisbees. AKA low gravity mines
mines usually only work well if im able to get the hell out of the way once thrown or im flying as i drop them
On a super low gravity moon right now at .07g and these things fly
High mobility would imply I'm not carrying the size of a small planet constantly
The fact companions will use grenades and stuff though terrifies me
I'm 15 hours in on NG+ and haven't done a single main mission
I'm just building a base
So he took his suit off since we went through an airlock. There's still a big ole hole in facility straight to space though
Hahaha. I can take my helmet off in here and walk outside no problem. But if I leave via the airlock it's not okay
I’ve gotten that dungeon before. The fact there’s an air vent leading straight out into space is fucking weird
Wish there was a way to access cargo hold in the bay, rather then loading into the ship
Stand near the ship, open your player inventory/ship hangar menu, use the hotkey to open up the inventory/switch to the cargo
The game does actually allow some leeway to cargo when you are near the ship
God damn, so many little features they just don’t tell you about
Yuuup
Good to know now
I was bored of entering my ship constantly for it, so I went into the ship menu 'just to check' since I'd seen the option there before, and it does work
I mean, I don’t mind not being told. Not everything needs to be tutorialized or covered
I’m just surprised more than anything
I mean technically for that one at least, the hotkeys were displayed on screen. But yeah; theres some massive gaps in basic things people should know
From looking into it, it looks like the common thought is that Bethesda overcorrected
cause one of the complaints i remember hearing about f4 was that it held your hand too much
Honestly I wouldn't even say overcorrected, how about completely missing the point
Fallout 4, by nature of being a series game, would end up with a lot of players having background knowledge on a lot of the components.
All complaints would stem from handholding people who know the style and genre of game they were presenting
stares at weegy with his excessive hours and somehow not knowing this

Meanwhile this being a new genre, new expression; they just did everything really weird
Jaz is known for breaking games, this means I'll have a pretty clear idea of the controls a game offers
My gametime is about to be throttled HARD
XD
school starts tomorrow, so i'm about to be busy
I've put almost as much time into stonehearth in the last 2 weeks, that I have starfield at this rate
Anyway Weegy, you will be happy to know you come in third
I have two other friends who have played it more than you
You are at 64 hours, I've got one at 67 and another at 77 hours
XD
If that happened I'm sure Weegy would be able to subsist on the OST or something
ive only just now got the mantis
I've been told if you save before opening the container for mantis, you can save load to random the traits
depends on what you mean by traits
||The three quality trait things the suit comes with due to being legendary||
oh that bit
im about to customise the ship next time i get on so i at least have some of the tables etc
then ill get back on with the story crap
If they aren't called traits what are they called then, qualities? Bonuses? They are tied to rarity
So they aren't mods
at least i also now get a free armory to properly store my weapons and ensure i hopefully dont get encumbered
also turned out my low damage anti robot gun is very effective just knocks them down
will probably need to eventually get better gun for that stuff though
also i only really needed rank 2 for security only found one random master lock
I have solved a puzzle through the power of a rotary 40mm grenade launcher
Explosions and firearms may echo, yet silence eludes them all. The night, with its omnipotent embrace, cradles our mysteries. The riddle you encountered was but a feeble creature, a puzzle that trembles in the shadows of greater enigmas.
Blame the person I was just talking to, I've been put in a malkmood™️
Everything trembles in the view of a 40mm grenade launcher
I do need to quarantine myself though while I'm in a MalkMood™️
Malkmood?
Thus it unfolded, as whispers in the veiled language of the night, cascading from sight to sound, unveiling the hidden truths of the universe.
You already know, you gave me permission as a joke before
okay gathering up besides StarUI what are some non gameplay changing or drastically altering mods that you would use ?

Looks like theres ~50 unique weapons
But of that modlist. none i'd personally use yet(aside from the Achivements one)
More of a general list with little QoL things that dont alter core gameplay for people to grab
Oh
its not mentioned anywhere
But if you have a weapon that deals EM damage, its non lethal
Don't ask me why my mind realises this now
This is almost a duel disk
Only took 34 hours for that to click
I mourn with you, because I need to get a job and work hard to make money. I need a new used car, money for teeth work and therapy, and vet visits for my cats
My life of depressed gaming must end
But for today, I shall enjoy starfield
Does it remove it from the scanner?
The loot gremlin inside me disapproves
It sparkles, it shines, it must be mine !
Soo anyone know how to get Neon security to stop being hostile?
tried
got caught hacking a billboard and I got stolen evidence on me
so just ran
now I got a wasp nest of a city after me
Did you get this thing?
I did not
Ooh
TLDW: AI always aim for center of ship so if you make a very lopsided ship they will just miss constantly
with only random misses actually having a chance of hiting
so we just make a donut
more or less yes
whoops
lol
I would've thought they would have some component targetting
no we clearly get that level of cognitive ability
Well murdering everyone in Neon didn't fix anything
you must of run out of ammo cause that place is swarming with civilian
naw mostly just used Beau, which I did almost run out of 40mm, but had lots of .43 supermag left
Well I wanted to only kill security so they wouldn't be aggro anymore for not bribing them
But turns out all the civs are lvl 1 and pull out guns too
and neon security are dicks
liar! you said you killed everyone in Neon now go back in there and make it truth!
I did kill everyone, except the shopkeepers are all immortal
and stupid trackers agent is imortal AND perma agrro
unlike the others that deagrro once they stand back up
well plan B, sleep for like 4-5 days
how high is your bounty
went back to right before I started
but highest was I think 380k with about 45 murders
isnt it if you get arrested it all goes away?
then you just steal back all the stuff they confiscated from you before leaving
pretty sure yea, but you have to be arrested, not instantly gunned down on sight
so basically you blast out of there and then return so they attempt to contact you?
did that before
traveled back into the city and was instantly shot at
slept for a day and they don't seem to care at ALL anymore, like not even for a bounty
you have plenty of blood then
unless of course you get a base and get a bounty remover thing or whatever its called and somehow pay it off
Troooooo
Theres no geneva convention
War crimes are legal!
One of my favourite quotes reminded me of this, "Alright you bast--, time for me to give you a lesson on why the geneva convention regulates landmines"
the cube is efficient
just need to make it hollow to inprove survivability
Hmm, Sam dislikes me killing smugglers, on the basis that they were non-hostile, ignoring the fact they would be part of a criminal faction
Sam likes it when you handle things non-violently
Which is part of the ideals of the freestar Ranger faction
They emphasize multiple times, constantly even, that shooting and killing is a last resort.
Always try to find a better solution
I'm, confused
I have a laser rifle
So do I spec into laser weapons? Or rifle weapons?
why not both?
yes
Wait, level 3 social tree, leadership second rank, no one told me I could get more storage on my companions. This is a missed opportunity, 50kg extra carry capacity, I hope per crew member sounds super useful

I think this guy has you beat for a hostage
https://www.reddit.com/r/Starfield/comments/16c4wog/so_thats_why_i_couldnt_fast_travel/
wow that is a shit fake video embed there
Bruh wait how do you get out of your cockpit seat while flying around
I’ve tried multiple times and no button would let me
hold E
Okay but controller button
hold interact then I would assume
Twice in the last hour; after completing Sams story line I've hit two 'dislikes that'
Amusing to say the least
Its almost like I socially engineered him up to the point I cared about and now don't care
This game is BS with crew
Outpost security chief "I'll take your going rate" -7500
Named character sat in the chair opposite "I'll take your going rate" -13600
I don't know if I should feel ripped off, or if the security guy got the short end
It is the difference between a L3 skill and a L1 vs just a L1, but the point stands kinda since 'perk points' are extremely gamey otherwise
And now a random L1 engineer costs 6k
And here I thought it was just skills, but no its almost completely nonsense
Best dialogue choice I've found so far
I literally just walked into the place in the full gear of the thing
Can't wait to see them try and say 'that can't be true'
Apparently boarding a 'spacer' ship, all the items on the ship count as stealing
This amuses me
Oh I get it, hostage ship
Well I guess they will find themselves lacking the illegal items they might have been delivering
It's finished https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb5ocD1uycE

Is it me or are sneak melee attacks impossible?
Even when I'm literally in stealth, only hitting caution, the enemies still 'spot' me because theres no delay between the game deciding 'detected' exists
I almost wonder if Bethesda has main branches of the Creation Engine. One based around fallout and one based around Elder Scrolls. Cause yeah I never had issues in Oblivion or Skyrim sneaking for a melee attack but always had trouble with it in Fallout
No clue if it's right but reading the sneak attack thing it's the first thought I had. It's a thought I've had for a while but only just able to fully form it
Because all that would be needed to 'solve' it would be even a second delay on 'detection', but the AI seems to immediately jump to detecting you without fail, no gap
But as it stands, it almost feels like the act of swinging the melee weapon and damaging them, alerts them to not being a sneak attack
Wait is that really a thing?
Joint pain from sneaking around for 'too long'
What
No, me in real life has damn joint issues, I don't need my character getting them too
I love the idea of the afflictions system. Developing a cough cause I stuck my face in a vent of toxic gas is cool. Knees hurting cause you have a specific playstle is not
Also surprised the game doesnt seem to have gotten a day 1 patch
Huh. So sneaking for a tad bit to long get's you the same sprain as jumping off a building and taking a bunch of fall damage
apparently they snuck it in before premium got to play
Also saw this. Screw you Todd my PC is not so outdated it should be running the game like this
/with the intial download
"We made a game with less graphics and more storage space required than No Mans Sky, and blame the lack of optimization which people were able to do in less than a week before the full release, on the fact that your computers are bad and aren't running with mid-high level components"
The link in the review is to interview where he said that
No man sky has damned trees and some basic level of creatures and AI, even water worlds, and you dare to say it is optimised
This game is literally just a flat 2D plane
Like yeah my PC isn't on the bleeding edge of tech anymore. Just an RTX3060 that the game isn't fully utilizing. Not even getting heat throttled or hitting the cards memory caps
Same with my wonderfull little Ryzen 3900X 12 core processor. The game seems to be doing well at actually using all the cores, but won't push them even though they have a lot more to give. Not heat throttled there.
Is it the 32GB of RAM? Nope not using all of that either
Seriously though; the game is completely old age things, the dialogue system, the 'premade' planets, the skills system
The AI hasn't suddenly taken grasp of chat GPT and decided to go ham on emergent dialogue
Point to me, what is so fking 'new age' as to require something more than what skyrims base requirements were
The $70 price tag :p
The planets are barren wastes with random rocks generated where-ever
The location of resources is stupidly simple, no mans sky had all that, numerous times over
If we are being completely literal that price tag is only because it is a branded game, its a reskinned no mans sky with supposed 'additions'
Since it's priced like a current gen game it has to be poorly optimized like one
Its a fallout style chat system in no man sky, modders could have done it
Also Jedi Survivors got Update 7 the other day. Finally added DLSS and people are still having loads of trouble running it
Airlock fully open. No problem
Also for all the tech in game why can I not just call people. Game is gonna make me fly to a different planet, kill some people, fly back to planet 1 for a couple lines of dialogue, the go back out to space to immeditly fly to a spacer base. JUST LET ME CALL THEM
Because this game is the epitome of undeveloped tech
We have drones that can delivery things for miles now by launching mini rockets, but this game hasn't retrofitted that into cargo to cut down on the size needed through having orbital stations as checkpoints, making it impossible to intercept the items being launched by the gravdrives
Communication is entirely based on electronics that need to be hand delivered, because they didn't invent relays for communications
Not like a ship warping back and forth with a 'databank' of data to upload and download constantly would ever work as a relay, nah never
Hey these pirates are using this abandoned space station as a base. Destroy the ships protecting it and clear them out.
Okay but why can't I just blow up the station?
Because stations are immortal objects, surrounded by magical forces
I legit watched the UC turn on their own station once
I undocked and watched as hordes of UC ships of varying levels, from military to civilian, just started firing on the Deimos staryard in the sol system
Nothing happened to it
And I’m glad for that tbh
Would have kinda sucked for it to just be destroyed cause of a bug
Kinda sad thought I just had.
If this wasn't a Bethesda game I'd be dissapointed with it
That is never how you should want people thinking about your studio
It’s a pretty good 6/10. Maybe 7/10. Not the worst game ever. It’s got problems, but it’s a fairly fun sci fi
Yeah like I'm having fun with it. But I'd really hesitate to call it good
this one is solid B tier
Not the best, since it doesn't challenge any theological beliefs(Of which its painfully obvious where its going from mission 2)
But it manages to tackle religion and how we treat gods
Rangers questline is great fun though
For me as a sci-fi junkie, it offers what truly is a unique experience worth the 8/10
It offers a customizable ship, 1st/3rd person with a massive story/exploration focus
The closest there is is Outer Worlds and Mass Effect
both of which are... bad
I like most of the constellation companions so far. And their stories actually feel like there’s emotion to them
the companions were done right
Especially Barrett’s
I really appreciate that decision of 4 main companions
instead of like 8-12 in skyrim that barely have a story
I would have loved if they went a Dune route with melee being needed for people with personal shields
That would have made melee feel like actually a thing instead of there just so people wouldn’t be upset that it wasn’t
If I ever get starfield on pc, I will look for a melee overhaul mod
Honestly i think they should have swung(pun intended) the other way with melee
Instead of making it a dedicated path of attack
Make it a special "finisher" system or perk system for weapons as a last ditch attack
like pistols have pistol whip tag "stagger enemy for 5 seconds", Rifles have disarm, "50% chance of disarming opponent"
And i feel like that would have been a good middle ground
I had 0 expectations for melee. Skyrim was based around melee and it stille felt like swingint a pool noodle. Fallout 4 and 76 didn't change that so why would this?
It is not great
But yeah
Main story is passable
as someone who completed it
the DLC is going to be SUPER INTERESTING
And i was dead dead wrong
about what the DLC's were going to be about
Also new iteration of the Creation Club
so what your saying is when im done with all there quests kick them off my ship
laser far as i can tell
there are literal rifle category weapons
whats it about then
Kinda, yeah
though as long as they aint following you, you can commit any crimes on the surface
Not a fan of creation club. Love modders getting the chance to be paid for their work if of a high enough quality. However, what was there in F4 and Skyrim was not worth any money at all
Well, maybe a couple things were worth money
But most of it was low quality garbage
From what I've seen most modders didn't like the creation club either. They aren't making mods to make money, certainly not to get some taken by Bethesda either. There's a reason all the mods on creation club were mediocre at best
Yea creation club mods just kinda felt soulless?
My god damn Skyrim is inflated with random fish now because if creation club
i didnt even use mods
i did use a cracked version of the game though
i never actually bought skyrim
Okay just found a full zero g fight. That was fun. A massive pain since I'm using a shotgun and it stops all momentum. Not shoots me backs. Just stops me. Doesnt matter if I'm moving or not. But fun
Oh now it's sending my backwards
Nice. I stumbled upon a casino filled with spacers. If was zero g
Yep thats the place
yea thats the one I found too
Dang it I keep stashing my cutter on accident
Zero g is horribly underutilized
Well yeah I wasnt expecting competence from it
So I just had 2 spacers retreat through a locked door and start shoothing me through it

anyone know where to buy neurajack?
Favorite it!
I accidently stash my favorites as well :p
damnit Ben Bayu is immortal
well the 40mm alerted the whole place
so reloaded and used the .43
Procceds to stand back up and have a normal conversation
I was not expecting that ending with Briggs and Owen, for the Strikers quest in Neon
Funnily enough the laser rifle did actually start counting the kills for both types
crysis suit voice maximum strength
on those planets im probably going to never be able to fully complete them for a while
i dont even have the scan traits thing yet
Welcome to the house of fun
ok so i just witnessed a level 85 alien monster
I think when I do NG+ I'm probably going to take the child trait and the fan trait, I didn't take them originally for the sake of working out game balance, but eh
Does anyone else get freestar bounties whenever you try to help them in space fights?
you mean the rangers get mad at you?
stray shots?
I have been planet bound for like the last 15 hours of playtime
so I havent actually explored any Freestar systems yet
The players scanner actively lags the larger your inventory is
yup, same with swapping weapons
helps to stow ammo types your're not using
but in Jazs case I think that isn't the problem
I mean being realistic that might help also
Play 'spot the most common ammo types'
i only got a bounty cause i warped out when they tried to scan me
i want more laser ammo
Curiously I'm missing the 3 of diamonds, the 9 of diamonds and the jack of diamonds
I've looted every card pile I've come across, and those three haven't been present
i stopped getting those when i realized the stated price was not what shops offered me for them
You'd get my agreement, besides the fact playing cards generally are a thing I've valued personally
finally liquidised my inventory
and stored into bay
40 weight and 14k credits richer
worth it?
yes
i can run free again
no longer shackled by the limits of my lung
like irl
Dont need the equivalent effect of asthma in the game
Wow, traders managed to finally keep up with my loot
Not in a 'turn into money' sort of way, but a 'sell all the random gear to buy materials' kind of way, at least now my hoard isn't 300 guns and spacesuits
Didn't end up using a merchant mod, so thats just amusing
All it took was buying every material and aid item from them to let them have money to buy the gear I don't want
I just sat at a chair unmoving for 48h
the problem comes when you get items that are worth more than the trader has coins
so you will always miss out in the difference
is there a perk like in skyrim to invest into a trader ?
Thats the whole point of buying all their aid and material items
And no just buy/sell price 'improvement' afaik
boooo
Which I haven't gotten because it would just exacerbate the problem
Anyone wanna tell me how to do basic basebuilding, this game seems to love the line 'intersects with an existing object' even when I'm throwing down corridors and stuff between them
Ah right, the game will move the 'fake' rocks out of the way, but complains when tthe thing is slightly into the terrain
So you have to go an edit the object and change its height in a completely different menu
I just caused a shoot out and riot in the well
by moving a bloody ladder
what is this ?
Jerusalem ???
I CAUSED IT
by moving a ladder
Also I am annoyed about a quest in the well
Both outcomes pay the same amount of credits
so you were involved in the shooting
i know exactly the quest you mean
i tested them both to see if anything was different so i just did it normally
Yeah
was weird that the morally bad method didnt give more credits
she said she would pay me well didnt so i went yeh nah im giving these to the good authorities instead
Anyone notice the Kodama is marked as a rifle instead of a pistol
It’s a machine pistol
But according to the game, it’s a rifle
The game has a variety of 'pistol guns categorised as other things' tbf
Aesthetics can suck one till I'm a billionaire
Fine time to pain everyone with my current 'ship' XD
I just just wanted 2 cargo modules to hold more stuff
thought : what if Frontier , but long ?
Getting this right and flight check error free took way too long
and holy shit are the controls bad for pc
Yeah the building is super cool but the controls are horrid
What if frontier but it was designed by someone who dislikes convoluted building controls as they sap my effort really quickly
On the bright side this is 2880 shielded cargo capacity
Oh I know something that will annoy people
You can't buy some components at some stations right?
Did you know using the copy feature on an existing component has them materialise you extras from the ether without having them in stock
Next gen gaming
Same Second Delivery baby
If thats the case why not offer it in the existing menus for stores
Its just convoluted
Also I see the Germans have cemented their position as beer brewers in the galaxy
Erdebrau
literally means Earthbrew
The germans did that in 1945
I mean theres also a french 'heritage' bar owner in the game
You know, with an accent because thats how that works, hundreds of years after communal intergration
but
we would fight this nonsense
and find a way to preserve wheat and hops
only the real stuff
Thats the german purity seal and rule for beer brewing
Unless gluten from wheat became a really rare thing due to a mass outbreak of gluten intolerance?
Who are we kidding, the games budget went to claiming it was 'high end' not to actual world building
Not gonna lie, the frontier is not worth adding on to
I’ve also tried modifying it
The little shit just does not cooperate
but only 300 weight is nothing
I mean technically my monstrosity is still 'the frontier', technically by name
also that
It still has most of the original components including the cab and the endlessly regenerating misc items in the main cabin
hehehe
I should have named my character different
Regarding this convo
Better fit would be Theseus
swing by an Enhance and change it
For NG+ I plan to use one of the voiced names for Vosco, so I can have 5 seconds of being talked to in a game because apparently voice lines for 'jasmine' aren't set to overlap with the name 'jazmine'
I accidentally chose a voiced named just by virtue of choosing my real life name
Which is Alex
Neat
So my first nagging point
its empty
And its unclear where you need to go for exploring just stuff
Skyrim was easy in this regard
it was everywhere
But in Starfield it feels empty
I spend about 5 hours on the first planet with Constelation and other side quests
but those were just moving from a to b
Then I got to Mars
whole lot of nothing as well and I cam across an abandonded mining station
BUT I knew it was there because of waypoints. You dont have this feeling of "ohhhh I found something"
Besides that I got an Epic Sword and Legendary Grendel
and I just went rip and tear through a dozen Spacers
Also which brainiac handled the minerals for mining
I want their head
This little piece of shit here
It only has a pixel at the front where the scanner "sees" the mineral
guess where the laser does only work for mining ?????
noooooo
A hitbox around the mineral would be too complicated
god forbid we have devent game design
Found an Easter egg!
Yuppers
I gotta say though even a week later, I still hate that american flag in the game
We all know, as evidenced by shia, that flags don't remain for long
You cannot convince me, even if we ignore the laws of physics, that some idiot won't steal it as a souvenir
I want a book in the starfield universe based on the mech war they talk about all the time
Highly likely just their loose background justification for why absolutely everything still needs manpower when they actively have security droids
But it would be cool for more books yeah
Instead of these really specific existing books
Why didn't they get people like the skyrim writers, so much more coulda been done
They missed out big time on not setting up a side quest here to go interview mech pilots for her. A starfield version of the wasteland survival guide quest
Bruh, Skyrim’s writing is garbage. I’m glad they didn’t bring those people on.
Hmm?
Almost all the writing in Skyrim is shallow and empty
With so many plot holes in numerous quests as to look like a strainer
So there is a quest around that/delivering and finding news
Skyrims books actually tie in a lot of the world, have actual perspectives and details, some even are funny like the lockpicking tutorial book.
They might not be good at consistency but that seems like a bethesda issue with this game coming out in the way it is
You can get a job with SSNN
Many of the Skyrim books are books that already existed and were written years ago, in the morrowind era
Oh that’s pretty awesome
Just ignore the time an NPC literally tells you 'don't go telling the news' and then you can't tell the news about them wanting to genocide a group of people
Plot holes are a bethesda issue, not just a skyrim writers issue
And sure, many books were written from the past, but its worth more than the copy paste rips of 'public domain' books they have, where they randomly pulled weirdly specific books and even pretend to care and implement one of the globes on the easter egg
||Ship in orbit above their 'paridise city' which was old earth colony generational ship. The people 'in charge' give you a bunch of shit options or 'pay for it yourself', otherwise they'd find a way to 'remove' them||
The security guard right at the very start tells you 'don't tell the news', and the game ignores that as a retaliation for being forced to pay a ton of money, some 50k credits, to not complete the quest with genocide
Here was my issue before Weegy
Oh and apparently this quest does the one thing I dislike, and thats completely ignore the concept of character skills/levelling
You receive a fixed ultimatum, no persuasion checks, no nothing, you are told to pick two negative options, or to pay for the good option.
There was no skill check, there was no way around it, they were a group of people who force you to make a choice, with the best one requiring money investment and even the 'mentioned' retaliation, doesn't become an option
swear to god i hope theres evidence of sentient alien life in Fermi

High level, next gen game design
I've got 99 problems and bethesda covers most of them by existing

Think of all that game overhead for having high res animated containers for NPC loot, instead of say, storing it in ethereal data, or say, counting all physical onjects in the store as items to buy and let you visibly 'clear the shelves'
Much next gen, many ram wow
it's not extra overhead like that
if the container itself isn't in view, it's not being rendered nor is CPU spent on animating it
oh it might be
nah, I work in programming, their engine is surely optimized to the point of not spending time on ethereal animations.
given where the chests are located, there wouldn't be any physics interactions (and they are likely flagged as not participating in physics)
Not to mention: the animation and visuals are only used when the inventory is being directly accessed by the player or an NPC - the store interface likely can access the inventory without triggering those
85 Hours in and just had my first gamebreaking bug
i already knew about where neons chests were
I am here, to complain, about the lack of warnings about needing an SSD, and how I just wasted my entire day doing nothing.
anyways Ive dredged up an SSD. Im just annoyed.
I've had tons of minor bugs. I got my first gamebreaking bug about 50 hours in. I softlocked myself by trying to trade with my companion and as they were entering into their trade animation (essentially just them stepping a little closer to you), an enemy attacked and my companion, after killing it, proceeded to just sit and stare at me. Nothing worked. Had to re-launch the game.
ive only seen probably one memorable bug and it was the most helpful bug i had ever seen
the airlock doors of a building were floating above it so i could just walk right in without waiting
hmm
I have been bug free, mostly due to crashing often enough for it to not break
how's this for a ship?
Tasteful
Now make it a plus sign
Because they decided to overpay the one voice actor playing that role to say about a thousand names, when thats like one of the few characters they really could have gotten text to speech to do justifiably
Don't worry, absolutely no one else will do it
they did the same with Codsworth in fallout
wheh.
he cant say mine
annnnd thats my first crash, welp, good stopping point anyways
I do enjoy vasco saying my name
Stealth is fucking bullshit
Okay so you can cheat
by using camera mode to float around doors and corners to see if a guards there
i mean there is third person and bigger third person
Yep it's a Bethesda game Weegy. That's the usual stealth
I have found the skill I want the mostestest.
regen.
I NEEEEEEED IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
Boost+Ship design IMO
okay, fair, but, and hear me out, combat regen.
Steal everything thats not nailed down and sell em for medpacks
Also I would think lvl 100 being max
since thats an achievo
Also I need that lvl 4 perk
together with melee weapons 4 I become unstoppable
I heal when I kill and regen during combat
speed boost after kills
True berserker mode
Not a fan of how much crafting is locked behind perks, same with lockpick levels. Just makes it feel necessary rather than a playstyle choice IMO
yeah
pickpocketing , gear mods
At least the basic versions should be directly available
Same goes for outposts basically
The weapon mods at least tier one of that perk should be default I feel. I'm cool with the higher tiers being perks
Yep
Kinda wish there were trainers/teachers you could learn skill from
I haven't looked at that skill tree since the game started
Weegy out of all people missing the most basic skill
I have spent most of my skills in the green tree just for carry weight an O2
Weegy it was the first skill I looked for and the first one I took
...
geology
I wanted to get to botany and xenobiology asap
I need stuff to cook with
Does Chef give you gastronomy as a starter? I don't remember
well that is better than nothing
Im just annoyed that you need a skill to make tea and or coffee
I have so many tea packets and coffee bags but can't brew the dang things
Weegy has had school and other issues
Weegy is also dumbass
Weegy has also been panic researching
Question: if I land on a random place on a planet, is that just a one time instanced area?
Basically can I repeatedly land in the same spot and farm enemies forever.
Asking for no particular reason.
landing randomly creates a permanent location you can come back too
not sure how enemy respawing works though
