If you went for value boxes that could be knocked down significantly. Depending on when and where of course.

#

I get it

#

It’s a meme

#

Warhammer expensive

#

But like. Real talk. It’s bad in its own unique ways. The recent price hiking and continual increases well beyond inflation. The fact that specific armies have minis that are rarely put into value boxes. Old armies with ancient ranges that receive no updates, while some armies are a subscription service. General quality decreases. There are reasons to be mad. But shuffling it all under “hur dur army cost money” is unhelpful and annoying.

#

You could probably get that army off of eBay second hand for 500ish bucks.

#

Which yes. Is not nothing. But it’s not a bloody house.

#

Wanna be mad at GW and Warhammer? Great! There tons of nuanced reasons! Oversimplification though is frustrating.

Welcome To Warhammer 40k Rogue trader a glorious CRPG where you must explore the galaxy whilst battling some incredible enemies and fighting the champions of chaos and xenos. only reason why its even being revived is because they saw money due to total war.

and why so many old things are just rehashed instead of trying to be new. fear of not just printing a new super yacht

dense isle
#

at least AOS has a better balancing comittee than 40k.

they.

I dont know if you understand what they've done to tyranids this edition but they essentially crippled half of the model range and told us to cry about it as they've done nothing to fix it.

#

Tyranids now instead of being a well balanced force, are all melee. pure melee. only melee. ignore how half of our models have GOOD SHOOTING. but NO. NO SHOOTING SUBFACTION FOR US. ONLY MELEE.

#

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

#

ahem

#

anywho

#

things are finneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

young token
#

that is a wonderful and by wonderful I mean agonizing pain.
for the tabletop game itself I barely touched it. and that was for a time when a version was on tabletop sim.

so I got the joys of tzeentch bafoonery without the wallet bleeding

dense isle
#

thats nice

#

Im out here with like.... uhhh.... I havent done the math but lets call it 3.5-4K points of nidds and

#

look it hurts but theres always next ed

#

its literally just the fact that since we're the big bad of this ed they can't make us good

#

like

#

actually

#

I know GW says thats not the case but

#

like

#

if you see the rules between armies its fairly easy to find "who was the bad guy of this ed" based upon whos rules are utter dogwater.

occatoinally someone else has equally bad rules but I dont believe Ive ever seen worse.

#

good news is my Ork Boyz are doing well

#

so thats nice

young token
#

they say its not the case because otherwise it make people not want to buy those models. but mechanically its often the case because they want to sell the 'heros'

#

they always have a time.

I have ptsd

but its good that they got a good time

dense isle
#

given the tyranids have actually legitimately only 2 epic heroes we're fairly safe from that issue.

yay?

#

but yeah

#

named characters (often) sell well

young token
#

like when I played tzeentch mechanically. while I had fun. just was easy shat on even by just plain guardsmen. but I dont know the exact edition I was playing so I cant really give good judgement

#

thats why named characters exist generally.

but for factions like tyranids having a named character is much more impactful selling wise since uh.
its kinda a galatic hivemind

#

kinda hard to have 'named' characters beyond whats yelled about a particularly lucky dude

dense isle
#

the funny thing with nidds named characters is that the 2 we have, one is a hyper adapted bioform that keeps its memory between creations and has the tactical genius to destroy even the best humanity has to offer as a tactician.

the other is a very grumpy carnifex that refuses to die.

#

thats it

#

thats Tyranids characters

#

the Swarmlord and Old One Eye

young token
#

yeah so literally one that, due to how tyrannids is was purposely made for such purpose

and the other. to put it bluntly. is the bloody lucky one that is a problem for everyone

#

and is given a name by those that 'yelled' loudly in the lore stance

dense isle
#

and now his genetics have been cloned to all of Hive Fleet Behemoths other Carnifexes!

young token
#

super funni

dense isle
#

so now theres millions of Old One Eyes! (at minimum)

young token
#

yep sounds about right
'this one is super effective. duplicate it'

dense isle
#

thats Tyranids for ya!

young token
#

which is lovely

tiny pike
#

"This one wasn't effective, but was funny. Let's duplicate it even more."

young token
#

that too

#

gotta keep the enemy second guessing if its one eye or bill

tiny pike
#

Answer is usually Bill.

dense isle
#

I mean yeah. that one time that Hive Guard accidentally absorbed the super kidney from spacies wasn't super useful, but it was great psychological warfare so they kept putting them in there.

#

I mean it probably is a good organ

#

but like

#

psychological warfare go brrrrrt

#

(no but seriously nobody knows why the super kidney is there)

tiny pike
dense isle
#

I mean if nidds have faced Space Wolves they've got the ability to replicate it

#

interestingly

#

Tyranids are so potent at adaptation in warfare they can create plagues and bio weapons that can kill even Plague Marines, although that specific feat is only commonly achieved by Hive Fleet Gorgon.

#

Nidds are great

tiny pike
#

He finally gets his glorious death, at the claws of Nidds

dense isle
#

ah. yeahhhh. they've got his organs then.

#

or at least that hive fleet does

#

I mean most other hive fleets probably do too?

#

that is one weird thing about genetic replication in nidds

tiny pike
dense isle
#

theres a reason I specified that only Behemoth had the newly enhanced carnifexes.

because they're the only ones seen using them. I am guessing that theres a more localized net within each hive fleet in which genetic codes are shared, and maybe based upon how effective they are it goes up the chain?

#

its basically impossible to know

#

my guess is, if something was TRULY revolutionarily effective

#

every hive fleet would learn of it

#

the problem is since Nidds have basically already seen most of everything the useful adaptaions are only minor improvements and thus need further testing

#

like yes Old One Eye physically refuses to die, but his genetics copied onto other Carnifexes havent worked that way. clearly something is missing. the hive fleet must learn and grow from it before it is implimented elsewhere.

tiny pike
# dense isle every hive fleet would learn of it

The greatest mind behind all the Hive Fleets sees Billy Bob Nibbler being so effective that it took an entire city on its own, decides to make every Hive Fleet now host copies of Billy Bob Nibbler

young token
#

yeah the hivefleets probably need to meet up to share genetic data that is deemed super valuable. but due to how they opperate they tend to adapt base on location and operations

dense isle
#

on occation select Hive Fleets will get an improvement (see Behemoth) but even then it rarely spreads to the others

young token
#

but yea billy bob nibbler was probably instant elevated to 'primary goon' due to general effectiveness

#

but one eye. while super effective. is also generally more costly. so behemoth gets gibs

dense isle
#

anywho I do think it has something to do with that wound Old One Eye took. nobody quite knows why he always gets back up. because the other Carnifexes even though they've obtained his rapid regeneration, do in fact stay dead.

#

because One Eye still has that exposed bone. that eye injury never fully healed.

young token
#

bro probs was buit with the instructions upside down and they just shot the wrong eye

#

:P

dense isle
tiny pike
#

I mean, in terms of out-of-universe reasons:
It's because every faction needs at least one Unique named unit, and the Nidds aren't really set up for anything like that in lore, so GW created Old One Eye to fill in that role of Unique named Nidd Unit.

dense isle
#

I mean yea

#

but then they gave behemoth his gimmick at slightly lower power

young token
#

yeah, obviously. and you know, cash cow.

tiny pike
#

In terms of Lore, I blame Tzeentch.

dense isle
#

fair

#

always a reasonable guess

young token
#

due to how the lore is you literally cant rule that out.
Which is always funny

dense isle
#

except that NIdds are chaos resistant and if you infect them with chaos they become significantly weaker.

dense isle
#

turns out: chaos doesnt interact great with giant univeral hivemind of doom

tiny pike
#

Shadow in the Warp can't stop Tzeentch's scheming.
Only slow it down.

young token
#

I dont mean in a direct intervention case, but influencing what accidentally lead to that

dense isle
#

his schemes are virulent and eternal

#

damned bird.

young token
#

while the tyranids become goop. the bullet probably had a whole lotta slight manipulations to make a sheer chance into an amusing reality

young token
# dense isle damned bird.

it is required when playing the eternal game. gotta make sure you both win and lose at the same time :3

tiny pike

And in rare cases, Gorkamorka.

dense isle

I STILL think Tzeentch actually sponsored Alpha Legion and only holds onto Magnus and the Dust Boys as a distraction to the greater plan.

Come Saturday, they're still loyalist. They're just being directed by Omegaron rather than Alpharius, as Alpharius needs a nap on Saturdays.

Totally

tepid tundra
#

huh apparently the terminus decree is finally revealed in the upcoming grey knights codex

vague gust
#

So why are grey knights fighting custodes now?

urban flint
#

Because the Grey Knights are a bit sus

#

I suppose you could also say the same about the opposite

dense isle
#

and honestly

#

Im pretending its not real

vague gust
#

Oh so the grey knights attacking the emperor is actually real?

urban flint
#

This does not surprise me

dense isle
#

but TLDR: grey knights were formed from some of the big Es personal genetics (this is not new) what the NEW bit of lore is, is that they opened the letter they were told to NOT OPEN, and now we know the contents which are essentially "prevent the emperor from leaving the throne at all costs"

and so theres a theoretical coming schism where the golden boys want to return big Es power by killing all the greyknights (thereby returning the lost genetic essense or some nonsense), and the greyknights wanna keep big E on the throne.

this letter was also theortecially written by the big E himself which again. makes zero sense. and goes against basically all previously written lore.

#

someone was given too much freedom on a project they didnt understand and they turned it into a bullshit stupid VS match that NOBODY WANTED.

#

which. by the way, is not even a contest.

#

a Greyknight is to most space marines, what most space marines are to a guardsman.

they're just that good and have that nice of equipment.

a god damned CUSTODES is worlds beyond that. given that there are at any given time only around 1000 greyknights, and the true number of custodes is, unknown but probably more than that, they greyknights are going to be quite literally SLAUGHTERED.

#

this is DUMB

#

this shouldnt even have happened

#

the whole point of the letter was to be a thing that just looms spookily in the background that was never revealed!

#

but NOPE

#

some idiot pulled the pin on it

#

and now we get to wait half a decade for a retcon!

vague gust
#

It’s been stated many times in lore that 1 custodes can solo a army

dense isle
#

I DONT EVEN LIKE SPACE MARINES AND I THINK THIS IS STUPID

dense isle
#

depends on the army

#

but yes Custodes are disturbingly powerful

#

thats kinda their point

#

they're the ultimate space marine. handcrafted by the emperor to be the biggest baddest leathalest thing out there.

#

and 5 of them died to an endless onslaught of gaunts one time

#

cause get wrecked nerds.

#

tyranids always win.

#

thats not me meming btw, legitimately in lore 5 custodes had this brutally awesome last stand against a tyranid invasion, and all that happened was they chewed through a few thousand gaunts each before they literally died of exhaustion. there were just too many gaunts to fight. good times.

#

I think it took a few days straight of fighting to do

#

to be fair

#

which to me just made both sides in that conflict more badass.

#

its like the opposite of a Warf incident.

#

just two badass forces go against each otehr and sure one "lost" but like.... they looked so cool doing it.

vague gust
#

Technically because the nids consumed pure custodes genes they could just have all nids be like them but shhhhh the authors forgot about this

dense isle
#

BAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

#

the tyranids have been sampling the entire UNIVERSE for god knows how long.

#

some little bipedal upstarts with odd genetics aren't going to change milenia of genetic engineering overnight.

#

although some hiveguard have been reported to be displaying different organs with semblences to some unique space marine features.

#

TLDR: its being experemented with but nidds havent quite found anything they like yet

vague gust
#

I will be honest the nids werr always my least favorite faction personally, same with Zerg infinite bug rush of genetics jsut feels bland

Though I do like the imperial guard, that’s Mainly because they have cool vehicles

at least they werent wrong bout it be a potentially destabilizing truth

dense isle

I mean yeah. but they're all super dead now.

#

if thye arent, thats bad writing

tepid tundra
#

not unless its some weird circumstances like they get the backing of some inquisitors or if the guide line bit of he gets transferred to another body and that body just happens to be elsewhere not on terra

dense isle

Trazyn doesn’t want the big E. Big E isn’t interesting. He’s just. There.

#

Trazyn would want the THRONE.

tiny pike
#

But yeah, this new Terminus Decree lore to me just reads like an Inquisition+Greyknights fanboy managed to get into GW's writing department. Because ain't no way the Grey Knights are pulling off what that letter now supposedly says is their "purpose". Even with the Inquisition backing that they'd definitely have because at this point the Grey Knights and the Inquisition are the same organization.

#

And yeah, Trazyn wouldn't care about Big E himself. Perpetuals aren't interesting enough to collect. The Golden Throne, though, that is an interesting artifact that Trazyn would definitely want.

#

The only interesting things about Perpetuals are the fact that they're inherently immortal (but the kind where they can still die in battle), and each of them have a funky extra power on top of that (with Vulkan's being the most useful of a Respawn Timer).

#

"Inherently immortal" and "funky extra power unique to the individual Perpetual" are not interesting enough things for Trazyn to care about collecting Perpetuals.

dense isle
#

But yeah I…. I don’t know who thought this was a good idea

tiny pike
dense isle
#

“Prevent the emperor from doing what he’s been attempting to do since the dawn of yes”

tiny pike
#

Me thinks we need to force another Months of Shame upon the Inquisition and Greyknights.

dense isle
#

I wish TTS was still around. They’d take the absolute piss out of this.

dense isle
tiny pike
#

Preferably a "Multiple Millennia of Shame" this time, rather than just a few months.

tiny pike
dense isle
#

The inquisition is a joke. I say we chuck Cain at them.

#

Oh sure he’s “dead” but did that ever stop him before?

tiny pike
#

And also Khaine. Let the Eldar help get rid of the tumor of all tumors.

dense isle
#

Checks out

tiny pike
#

Plus, lots of potential jokes having Cain working alongside Khaine.

dense isle
#

Maybe we’ll find where Vulkan went.

#

because no seriously. if big E gets off that throne he aint coming back.

vague gust
#

If I remember correctly doesn’t the palace just have a whole titan just vibing inside of it

#

Also the comic is funny because if they even got that far it’s just nonsense plot armor

dense isle
#

they'd never even get to draw their power swords

#

like

#

legitimately

tiny pike
#

One of them would get it halfway out of the sheathing latch, before all of them would drop dead from the Custodes being way more powerful.

dense isle
#

the stodes, the emperors PERSONAL army of body guards and lethal agents.

so good at EVERYTHING that yeah.

they'd power up the sword, begin to draw, and they'd all be meat cubes.

#

custodes are literally masters of stealth

#

to the point hte only way they get better is gigantic century long wargames against themselves with the fate of Tera in the balance

#

custodes are "that guy"

#

they're legitimately some of my favorite spacies.

#

and I really dont like spacies

#

chaos spacies are cool

#

but normal spacies? meh.

#

but custodes?

#

oh custodeeeessss

#

I think TTS memery has made people think less of them in the general consensus.

tiny pike
#

The only things that can hold up to Custodes besides other Custodes?

Endless waves of the Nids' strongest soldier type (emphasis on Endless), and Harlequins because Harlequins have the direct support of an actual god.

dense isle
#

one of the weakest bioforms

#

it took like

#

thousands and thousands and thousands and thousands

#

but it EVENTUALLY WORKED

tiny pike
dense isle
#

if you mean in a 1 on 1 battle though, higher ranked demons have a fairly good chance.

dense isle
#

Im a goober

#

uhhh quinns yeah they've got a shot

#

it would be tough but

#

like

#

they've got the laughing god on their side

tiny pike
#

Ceogorach is a literal god.

#

And is the only reason the clown elves stand a chance.

dense isle
#

hmmmmm.... oh. Ghaz would put up a hellova fight

#

I mean

#

thats basically putting up a primarch against them

#

so thats not entirely fair

#

Nidds actually have a few high tier bioforms that have a good shot

#

theres little out there that can 1v1 a stodes in proper combat outside of like, named entities.

#

old one eye would EVENTUALLY win

#

because well

#

old one eye physically cant die

tiny pike
#

But that's mainly because Ol' One Eye can't die, yeah.

That's not fair to the Custodes.

dense isle
#

yeah

#

neither can Ghaz interestingly enough

#

orkish belief is so strong in him if he dies a new ork just BECOMES ghaz

#

same with makari

tiny pike
#

If we limit it to things that can die, then the Custodes don't really have much competition, outside a couple named Daemons, and the aforementioned Clown Elves.

dense isle
#

yeah

#

and this is in a 1v1 situation

#

not ya know "we can throw literally unlimited numbers at them"

#

because as seen that does EVENTUALLY work

tiny pike
#

Yeah. 1v1. Clown Elves have a shot, but not a good one.

The named Daemons have a better shot, but not much better.

dense isle
#

primarchs and demon primarchs could mop the floor but

#

like

#

look I'd pay money to watch the Khan clown on an overconfident goldy. but it wouldnt be close.

tiny pike
#

A non-Vulkan Primarch (Vulkan is excluded because Respawn Timer), could also maybe do it in a 1v1, but it'd still be close to a coin flip.

dense isle
#

it really wouldnt

#

stodes are close to primarchs baseline, arguably.

primarchs then have their warp forms to tack on extra potency.

tiny pike
#

A lot of the Primarchs are slowing down a fair bit, from not having a crusade to keep them sharp anymore.

dense isle
#

a primarch starts to lose and just goes "oh screw this" and becomes a giant demonic bird that can rend reality asunder.

dense isle
#

but the other living ones are doing fairly well keeping themselves sharp

tiny pike
#

Girlyman's been sitting behind a desk for so long his legs are probably starting to atrophy a bit.

dense isle
#

yeahhhh

#

so actually Guiliman against a stodes would be fairly good

tiny pike
#

Vulkan's probably been dead for the past while due to Curze being a dick who knows about the Respawn Timer (and Vulkan's banned anyway because of that Respawn Timer).

dense isle
#

I mean he might finally unlock his god damned warp powers at that point jesus christ dude you're so far behind the curb its embarassing.

#

even the Khan figured those out! I think. arguably.

tiny pike
#

The Traitor Primarchs have all gone insane and probably haven't been truly keeping up their combat readiness, except the ones that fell to Khorne.

dense isle
#

and only one of them is canonically unkillable

#

the others are mostly hiding

#

Angron is literally too angry to die

#

the others can fall

#

potentially

#

it would be really hard

#

and then they'd probably just come back anyways through warp fuckery

tiny pike
#

I mean, the only reason Angron's too angry to die, is the Butcher Nails.

The Custodes probably know what the Butcher Nails are doing, and could potentially remove them, allowing Angron to die.

dense isle
#

I thought that was a new perk of his demon form.

#

no like thats not a meme

#

its gone beyond the nails IIRC

tiny pike
#

Yesn't. It's a combination of the Daemon form and the Nails.

dense isle
#

checks out

tiny pike
#

The Daemon form feeds off the evil angy juju of the Nails.

dense isle
#

okay actually you know what I wanna see?

a custodes vs a psi titan

#

custodes would PROBABLY win

#

but like

#

it would be fun

tiny pike
#

That would be a fun fight to watch.

#

A friendly spar between Vulkan and a Custodes would also be fun (no actual fight to the death, because again, Vulkan would be cheating because of the Respawn Timer).

dense isle
#

okay you keep mentioning that

#

is that real?

#

like I know he died off screen

#

but like. "vulkan is gonna be back any day now" I thought was our collective cope

tiny pike
#

Yeah. His Perpetual power is he can revive from any death.

dense isle
#

huh

#

go you vulkan

#

god damned lottery

tiny pike
#

Curze likes to kill him repeatedly because Curze is a dick and knows about it.

#

(In terms of Curze's actual motivation, it's that Curze thinks that if he kills Vulkan enough times, Vulkan will properly snap and show the "inner cruelty" that Curze believes everyone has as their true core self.)

dense isle
#

...... hold on.... okay if Im reading this right....

Vulkan is a perpetual yes, but thats STILL not his warp power.

tiny pike
dense isle
#

thats just part of the genetics he got from ol pappy

#

holy crap Vulkan

#

I knew you were one of the best but. god damn.

tiny pike
#

Perpetuals get a power, and the Primarchs get a Warp Power.

Vulkan, being a Primarch who is a Perpetual, gets both.

dense isle
#

technically there is a metal that could kill him but

#

I have the astranged feeling people already tried that

#

and it didnt stick

tiny pike
#

Iirc, it made the respawn take a fair bit longer than a death of that wound type otherwise would (It takes longer the worse the wound, with full atomization taking the longest), but yeah, it didn't stick.

#

The last time we saw Vulkan, it was likely a full atomization death, because cause of death was "gods damn Volcano".

dense isle
#

yeahhhhh

#

he'll be back

#

if GW would let the salamanders collect all 9 relics

tiny pike
#

But yeah, the only Primarchs that would probably still be in tiptop shape for a 1v1 fight with a Custodes, would be Khan and Russ, at least by my guesses.

dense isle
#

Khan, Russ, Ravenbro, Alpherius/Omegon (in a 2v2 scenario because no way Alpherius is ACTUALLY dead), Vulkan (but is banned).

the lion MAYBE, given that he wasn't decaying over time he was preserved and essentially is the same as he was pre hiding.

#

no seriously

#

I dont believe Alpherius actually died that day.

tiny pike
#

Alpharius is definitely alive, yes.

dense isle
#

whats the phrase?

the greatest trick trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist

tiny pike
#

But yeah, the rest, including probably Rowboat Girlyman (due to being stuck behind a desk for so long), are unlikely to be in tiptop shape for a fight with the Custodes.

dense isle
#

yea

tiny pike
#

And of course Curze is too busy being angry evil Batman Who Laughs (without the laughter) who wants to make Vulkan snap and be angry to try and prove to Vulkan that people are inherently cruel.

dense isle
#

Vulkan may snap certainly but it will probably be closer to "oh to hell with this" and he just awakens whatever warpy goodness he has inside of him and bashes his way out with hugs and laughter.

tiny pike
#

Hugs, laughter, and a really really big forge hammer.

dense isle
#

I think thats actually one of the relics the sally's have

#

so

#

he'd just have to find or make a new one

#

which, while not hard, would add a lil bit of time to his return

#

honestly I think the only reason he hasn't returned yet is he hasn't found a nice enough hammer

tiny pike
#

Still depressed that his bro who made him the really really nice looking hammer went Traitor. :P

dense isle
#

truly

#

although he does get to clown on the iron hands for taking his quote out of context

#

so

#

modestly worth

#

it evens out

tiny pike
#

Vulkan: "The flesh is weak, but the deeds live on."

Iron Hands and Cult Mechanicus: "That second part can't stop us because we can't read!"

dense isle
#

snrk

bitter eagle
#

I know I’m late to the conversation but I feel if custodes vs grey knights where to happen all it would take is one sister of silence as correct me if I’m wrong but all grey knights are psykers I also don’t think the idea is that custodes go on the aggressive but that grey knights do if the emperor gets up which he obviously hasn’t

tiny pike
solemn mason
#

mostly overkill because of how good a custode is to a grey night

tiny pike
#

The Grey Knights aren't the strongest of Psykers, but they're Psyker enough that a blank would wreck havoc on them.

solemn mason
#

but yeah, a SoS would lock em down pretty good

dense isle
tiny pike
#

Making it so that the single acting Custodes wouldn't even need a weapon to kill the other 500.

dense isle
#

because blanks have beaten demon princes in one on one combat.

now of course that is because of their supercharged blankness but lets be clear.

the grey knights are only as powerful as tehy are BECAUSE they are all psychers.

tiny pike
#

Just raw fist in the split second, thanks to the Sister of Silence.

dense isle
#

this new plotline is just

#

so

#

moronic

#

it makes zero sense

#

on any and all levels

#

who let them write this garbage

tiny pike
#

An Inqusition+Greyknight fanboy who managed to get into GW's writing department, clearly.

bitter eagle
#

The way I found out about it is via a meme sent by my friend who plays grey knights that led to a conversation of why

tiny pike
#

As I said before, they clearly need a reminder of why the Months of Shame were named as such by the Grey Knights themselves.

dense isle
#

"written by the emperor himself" yeah RIGHT.

tiny pike
#

The Grey Knights themselves understood the massive L they took in tussling with the Wolves.

dense isle
#

I can SEE the white out and thats in YOUR handwriting mr. greyknight

#

big E doesnt write that sloppy

bitter eagle
#

But yer I was always under the understanding of the leader of grey knights knew what it said but found out that was correct I also don’t feel they do still as the lore snippet doesn’t even say that they know what it says just says only the grey knight leader can open the box then what it says and what will happen if it was to be acted upon

tiny pike
dense isle
tiny pike
#

They're an Inquisitor of that one Inquisitorial Philosophy Sect that think everyone should get possessed by Daemons.

dense isle
#

but yeah this whole plotline is just. blerg.

bitter eagle
#

I always forget about that sect lead by alpharius I heard

dense isle
#

there are words I want to use for it that I know I shouldnt use for it.

#

also Im 99% certain Tzeentch wanted Alpherius/Omegon but took Magnus instead when Alpherius/Omegon beat him in a childrens card game.

bitter eagle
#

I have a meme that sums it up perfectly but it uses words that i believe can’t be said here

dense isle
#

sounds fun. DM it?

tiny pike
dense isle
#

Lemann Russ claws his way out of the warp from fighting demons to go "what, in the love of the emperor, are you morons doing AGAIN?!"

bitter eagle
tiny pike
#

"With said words including "Axe to Skull" on repeat about a couple quadrillion times."

tiny pike
dense isle
#

"a task beyond the abilities of any other force in the imperium"

grey knights. guys. you dumbasses. lmao.

not even YOU fools could DO ANYTHING.

#

"cut a path through the ranks of the Custodian Guard"

you'd step one foot on Tera and be turned into CUBES

tiny pike
#

-# The Inquisition is a tumor that needs to be excised, so that they can stop festering up multiple different Space Marine chapters with their bullshit.

dense isle
#

sorry dont mind me Im reading the Terminus Decree for the first time

#

like

#

this

#

this is so dumb

bitter eagle
#

Ohh yer

dense isle
#

yeah the grey knights are REALLY POWERFUL spacies.

compared to normal spacies.

tiny pike
#

Yeah. It's uber dumb.

dense isle
#

Im crying while laughing here

#

hollllyyyyyy shiet.

tiny pike
#

If it were the Boys in Blue with this, it'd at least make some sense, given the standard Blueberry Favoritism.

bitter eagle
#

The only advantage they have over custodes is psychic powers other than that they are screwed

dense isle
#

hell if the Custodes are anything like we know they are, they already knew what was in that box and have been hamming it up at a joke near the water cooler for the past millennium.

bitter eagle
#

But also custards always have SoS with them

tiny pike
#

But for the Grey Knights, this entire thing is just pure nonsense.

dense isle
#

because they're just that good

bitter eagle
#

I never knew they had psykers and for some reason thought they didn’t

dense isle
dense isle
#

even if they dont if big E gets off the throne they literally have a god who can dust an entire legion with a though

bitter eagle
#

I thought they worked with sos as they didn’t have them so it patched there weekness but could be wrong

dense isle
#

....... so okay.....

yes in game they dont have psychers that is known

bitter eagle
dense isle
#

but lore wise they are handcrafted from the big E's own geneseed

tiny pike
#

Hell, even the Wolves having this be a decree to them would make more sense, since the entire idea is clearly "Anti-Psyker/Warp", and the Wolves are one of the only Loyalist Chapters to actually do proper mitigation against that shit (since Rune Priests, while technically Psykers, are doing it so differently that they face none of the normal problems).

dense isle
#

which makes them psyonic by default

#

if Magnuses kids all get psycher powers because HES a gigachad psycher, Im fairly certain the same applies to big Es direct kids too.

#

maybe

#

they do have a lot of SoS though

#

Im gonna put it under "under developed lore"

bitter eagle
#

I thought the grey knights where big e gene seed and the custodes where above that

tiny pike
#

The Grey Knights, though, are effectively just cleanup crews for after all the actually big shit goes down, killing off all the smaller daemons. They're really good at smaller daemons.

Not so good at bigger ones.

bitter eagle
#

I mean dread knights exist soley to give them a chance against a greater deamon

tiny pike
#

Wolves and Blueberry Bois, very good at bigger daemons.

Grey Knights, not so much.

dense isle
#

Grey Knights are.... we dont know what they are?

okay so lore wise it looks like they're just a conglomerate mishmash of other geneseeds.

#

but they get super special gear and training

#

that MAKE them greyknights

bitter eagle
#

Ohh okay

dense isle
#

Custodes are Big Es handcrafted boys.

of super golden awesomeness

#

but yeah Greyknights were founded.... alongside the inquisition.... blerggggg.....

#

yeah we really need to get rid of that damned thing

tiny pike
#

Because the Grey Knights are an arm of the Inqusition (the Inquisition likes being the only one with a Spacie Chapter working directly for them, so they got pissy when the Iron Hands and the Cult Mechanicus got buddy buddy, because it infringed on their specialness of being the only one with a Spacie Chapter working directly for them).

dense isle
#

but yeah Grey Knights.... are meant to be powerful against daemons.... but because they arent blanks and instead psychers they are.... actively weaker against them.

#

because psychers

#

fun fact

#

more easily corruptable!

bitter eagle
#

I thought grey knights couldn’t be corrupted same as custodes

tiny pike
#

Stare too long into the Abyss (Space Hell), and the Abyss (Space Hell) will stare back.

tiny pike
#

The Inquisition just really likes hiding all the times it happens because it would tarnish the propaganda they try to paint for the Grey Knights.

bitter eagle
#

So I fell for imperiums propaganda outside of the 40K universe lol

dense isle
#

custodes also can be corrupted!

custodes are just REALLY GOOD at killing their own.

hell custodes WILLINGLY STEP DOWN, if they lose even a fractional hint of edge. and then they go off to be absolute badasses in undercover ops.

#

as I said, century+ long war games where the actual literal fate of Tera is in the balance.

tiny pike
dense isle
#

yea

dense isle
bitter eagle
#

I knew sob could be corrupted but was very rare

dense isle
#

Custodes don't play around in wargaming

tiny pike
#

Since they aren't Big E himself, they can still get corrupted, but because it's less steps between the Custodes and Big E than the Grey Knights and Big E, the Custodes are very resistant to it.

dense isle
#

also

#

once big E ascends

#

and finally gets his ass in gear

bitter eagle
#

Big e model when

dense isle
#

he can start just giving out blessings

#

and that will make people INFINITELY harder to corrupt

#

hard to corrupt someone when they literally feel the blessing of the emperor on them at all times

#

"come join my evil cult gang where you maybe get secret powers! hear the secrets of the universe!"

"nah the emperor just told me you're full of crap. go die."

tiny pike
#

Because it's not just the Orks that have the ability to Zeitgeist a bunch of magical bullshit.

dense isle
#

yea

#

Sisters Sororitas at it again!

bitter eagle
#

Haven’t humans created a lesser warp entity before?

dense isle
#

with a deamon prince of sorts in the form of saint celestine

tiny pike
dense isle
#

and also the legion of the damned

#

LoD need more lore

#

oh that reminds me of a meme. hold please.

bitter eagle
dense isle
#

hold complete

tiny pike
dense isle
#

no thats keeping big E alive

#

ish

#

its weird

#

but the 1000 psychers isnt the beacon bit

#

its maybe tethering him to Terra?

#

again he is a half step from ascention

#

reincarnation

#

or god knows what

tiny pike
#

Yeah. The 1000 psykers are keeping the physical form alive and the partial warp entity tied to it.

dense isle
#

he's closer to a ctan shard right now than anything else

#

a fragment of a god held in place through ritual and technology

bitter eagle
#

I feel if his physical form died he would just ascend

tiny pike
#

If that 1000 psykers a day ever stops, then Big E will probably pull a Slaanesh and properly burst out as a full Warp Entity strong enough to be called a god.

bitter eagle
#

But obviously that would ruin the lore too much even for gw

dense isle
#

ruin is a strong word

#

it would change the state of balance

#

severely

#

and GW likes their eternal now a bit too much

bitter eagle
#

I mean it would change the over all tone of the setting

dense isle
#

it really wouldnt.

tiny pike
dense isle
#

its not a humanity wins button

#

its a "humanity now is on fair footing"

#

humanity is losing.

#

badly

#

also the tyranids will eventually eat everything and destroy the warp as we know it but thats besides the point

bitter eagle
#

Yer but that also half the point no?

dense isle
#

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh

#

the point is there is only war

#

war changing is a natural progression

tiny pike
#

Also, the Space Elves might finally take Humanity seriously, if Big E became a proper Warp Entity, since at that point, we'd've pulled off all the same feats as them.

bitter eagle
#

Fair that is also true and did happen when Cadia fell I suppose

#

Also have they expanded on that since the end of arks of omen yet?

dense isle
#

so, like yeah, if GW can ever get off of their "eternal now" nonsense, we could finally have time resume in the universe.

tiny pike
#

Those feats being galaxy-wide empire, and causing the birth of a new Warp Entity strong enough to be called a Warp Deity.

dense isle
#

now our tech compared to their is still garbage

#

and we dont know how to make a webway

#

but

#

we'd have a god

#

and it would be on the side of humanity instead of trying to eat its soul

tiny pike
#

Technically the elves don't know how to make a Webway either. Just maintain what's there.

dense isle
#

true

bitter eagle
#

Also if big e became a god the eldar may finally get there last sword

#

Meaning they can also progress

tiny pike
#

Also, Big E ascending would make the Orks happy because it would mean Gork and Mork would have a new thing to fight.

bitter eagle
#

Thinking of it more making big e a 5th chaos god would progress the story a lot…

dense isle
#

I still think Gork and Mork are just 2 surviving Krorks

bitter eagle
dense isle
#

Malal stands

bitter eagle
#

Malal is retconed no?

dense isle
dense isle
tiny pike
#

6th, as Gur said, but yes it would, and is also how the plot clearly wants to progress, if you collate all the various tiny steps GW's allowed to have made forward.

dense isle
#

Malal stands.

bitter eagle
#

Fair

tiny pike
#

The plot very clearly wants Big E to ascend as a new Chaos God in the Warp, on the side of Humanity.

bitter eagle
#

I feel gw have legal issues with malal so can’t include them anymore

tiny pike
#

Yeah. Legally they can't use Malal.

Spiritually, Malal is still there.

dense isle
#

But

bitter eagle
#

Don’t gw own white dwarf?

dense isle
#

It was white dwarf or some comic thingy

#

I forget what exactly

bitter eagle
#

I thought the writer owned malal

dense isle
#

But Malal is trapped by legal nonsense

#

That’s the takeaway

tiny pike
#

It's that the writer who wrote the Malal lore owns Malal, and refuses to let GW have it.

#

And GW are too stingy to pay for licensing fees, which the writer would be fine with.

#

So Malal just sort of sits in the background never being mentioned and never officially retconned.

dense isle
#

So he sits there. Menacingly.

bitter eagle
#

Isn’t there the sons of malal or something in 40K

dense isle
#

Nope

tiny pike
#

Yeah.

Anyway, the overarching plot of 40k very obviously wants to progress to Big E's physical form dying, unleashing Big E as a new Warp God on the side of Humanity.

GW, meanwhile, are Moebius from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and want an Eternal Now that never ends because they're scared of the future.

dense isle
#

Malal was just… like the embodiment of anti chaos.

bitter eagle
#

I thought there was a space marine chapter with a name that mentioned them

dense isle
#

There’s the sons of Horus.

#

Who are all dead

#

Ish

#

Mostly

tiny pike
#

And the Emperor's Children, who are a Traitor chapter.

bitter eagle
#

I’m thinking malice not malal

dense isle
# dense isle Yup!

There’s a reason I quote Moebius when referring to GWs stance on lore. It’s eerie.

tiny pike
#

The retcons almost always seem to be purely to cycle back to a "default state" of sorts, eerily similar to Moebius from XBC3 and the Eternal Now.

bitter eagle
#

Just realised there is minimum 2 setups in place to make big. E ascend

#

As if the grey knights where where smart in the way they attacked tera they may be able to stop 1 set do the 1000 psykers been sacrificed and there is the arks of omen thing of vashtor having the webway plus a webway gate in the imperial palace

dense isle
#

I mean yeah but if big E no longer wants sacrifices…. Nobody will be able to feed the throne.

#

The golden boys will see to that.

#

Webway or no.

bitter eagle
#

Fair

The terminus decree won’t even reach that far. Everyone with a moticum of future sight on Tera, which there are many of which with potent abilities, just got an eyeful of the grey knights pointing their swords against the big E. That’s a great way to get the Custodes knocking heads together and obliterating ordos.

#

They grey knights are liable to be expunged from history for this malarkey.

tiny pike
#

Employed Diviner Psykers are a dime a dozen among nobility. And nowhere has as many noble houses as Holy Terra.

dense isle
#

Not to mention those that explicitly work for the big E and Goldies

tiny pike
#

Indeed.

dense isle
#

Like. You should not have opened that box buddy. You’ve doomed the Grey Knights via cognitohazard. Great job moron.

tiny pike
#

So out of the couple quadrillion people total on Terra, it's a good estimate to say that maybe a few billion are Diviner Psykers living fairly cushy lives (as far as the life of a Psyker can be) due to the usefulness of their specific brand of Psyker powers.

#

And that's with the hyper conservative estimate that's likely heavily undercounting them.

#

It's probably closer to a few trillion in all likelihood.

#

Point is, every single one got a whiff of the Grey Knights being idiots who opened the box (that if it was written by Big E, was almost certainly done as a trap/joke).

dense isle
#

And several of them are explicitly trained to predict the future beyond their general vibe senses.

To a horrifically accurate degree.

#

There are stories of golden boys warping in to save a single random guardsman for a single battle as the start to a Rube Goldberg machine that will prevent the imperiums destruction.

This has happened more than once.

tiny pike
#

"What'd you do to get special treatment from the Custodes?!" -Guardsman to other Guardsman who was saved by the Boys in Gold.

"I dunno. They said something about "crisis averted" as they left, though." -Said saved Guardsman, who proceeds to die in the next battle he's put in because it was that single battle that was important he not die in.

dense isle
#

Yup!

tiny pike
#

But yeah, if this doesn't end with the Grey Knights being obliterated (and ideally the Inquisition with them), then GW are even bigger idiots than we already knew them to be.

dense isle
#

Yup!

#

Honestly if this wasn’t a big ploy to kill off a faction, I’ll be suprised.

GW hasn’t liked GK for a while now.

tiny pike
#

I would also accept the Grey Knights technically surviving with a massive overhaul to their logistical everything (overseen by Girlyman) if we get the Inquisition being completely eradicated forever, because I have a feeling that this "Terminus Decree" is actually another bit of Inquisition Bullshit.

dense isle
#

Probably

#

I’d believe it

#

I just hope the internet collectively going “what the hell are you morons talking about?” Will push GW down a better path.

tiny pike
#

(My point is the Inquisition needs to be eradicated. They're the tumor to eclipse all tumors, and they're eating away at the Imperium even more than the Imperium itself eats at the Imperium.)

dense isle
#

Probably

tiny pike
#

The Imperium is big enough that it crushing itself under its own weight isn't ever going to kill it on its own.

But add in the Inquisition being the Inquisition, the tumor to end all tumors, and suddenly, you have an empire in rapid decline because the Inquisition keeps glassing and virus bombing every single world that has even the tiniest whiff of chaos at any point.

#

Or, worse, sterilizing an entire population so they can't reproduce, simply because they helped combat chaos alongside the Wolves, despite promising the Wolves that no such measures would take place.

#

Congrats on the Months of Shame. You brought it on yourselves, you lying bastards.

Flying Hive Tyrants are shoddily attached by their tail alone, which has a relatively crappy contact point to the ground, but its at least solid plastic rather than whatever madness they use for the clear flight stands.

the official GW image if you don't enitrely understand what I mean by that.

#

the tail isn't even fully solid. abut halfway up is an attachment point to the rest of the tail.
