bah

#

the inquisition is stupid

except for like those 3 times they werent

time 2 was.... I forget

Time 1 was Caiaphus Cain.
Time 2 was never.
Time 3 was never, the only time the Inquisition wasn't stupid and wrong was Caiaphus Cain.

vague gust
#

I was thinking dawn of war style but that would be pretty fun

dense isle
# vague gust You guys think we’ll ever get another warhammer RTS and do you think it will inc...

Honestly maybe?

Like…. Potentially?

On the Titans point the issue becomes SCALE. An Imperator class titan is uhhh…. Basically a walking city block. And not the baby city blocks you see around in SF. The chonky city blocks.

So you get that. Vs. Literally anything else and it’s a problem. Balance wise they either have to be literally impossible to build in an effective way, or be so piss weak that it feels lore inaccurate.

Remember Space Marine 2. A simple drake, one of Chaos’s better daemon engines, was enough to effectively single handedly stop an entire spacie assault until they got an absurd dreadnaught who was huffing some “lore accurate” cutscene power.

Imperator class titans would look at that drake, laugh, and obliterate it with a random weapon mounted on its back. Not even a main gun.

#

And remember if that isn’t enough.

There’s always the Psy Titan option.

#

And those guys make normal Imperators look silly.

vague gust
#

I mean honestly a game where it’s just titan vs titan would honestly slap

meager shoal
#

sounds like starcraft 2 issues with the battle cruisers and carriers/mothership, they never felt strong enough

Just throw you into the legio titanicus wars during the heresy or just some other time period

yup

dense isle

Then you know.

dense isle
vague gust
#

Oh that would fuck

dense isle
#

Imperators are large enough it’s viable.

vague gust
#

Like you get the base imperator body and weapons but you can customize the top city to either be a fortress or something else

meager shoal
dense isle

Oh but of course remember, 2 orks, a grot, and a Squig, in a shock jump dragsta, are a one shot.

I think it would be a great concept and just have it be like your wondering some forlorn war torn planet trying to stay well maintained and operational while fighting off chaos legions and chaos knights and titans

dense isle
#

Ye

#

There be options.

#

But GW are cowards.

#

So

#

Who knows

vague gust

And when you wipe out titan enemies you get new shit other enemies just drop building materials

#

Sorry

#

A Krusade

dense isle
hushed coyote
#

rate my army

dense isle
# hushed coyote Oh I meant hos this look

ohhhhhhhhhhh.

I mean its okay.

I personally would have invested in more squads.... actually any squads of Squighog Boyz, they can move up the board extremely quickly and are real nasty.

you've got a Trukk. why? if its for the gretchin it shouldn't be. Gretchin belong in the back point (or to be shuffled to a secondary point if you have more squads of them) to give you command points.

GARGANTUAN SQUIGGOTH?! WHY?! thats HALF YOUR LIST. IN A SINGLE MODEL. Another Kill Rig would be better. its essentially the same stats in movement and can buff more of your army on command, not to mention it would give you point totals to let you DIVERSIFY.

Kill Rigs are one of your best tools available and you do not need SIXTY INCHES OF RANGE.

for basically a third of the point total you get what is essentially the same effectiveness model, with more utility and DIVERSITY.

or, you could instead diversify further, instead of another big chunky vehicle, you could get more boyz, bikes, or potentially squighog riders.

I'd take Killacans (which catagorically are terrible within Da Big Hunt subfaction) over 440 points tied up in one model for 1K.

Please Princess. I beg. I plead. don't use the Garg Squiggoth. theres so many beutiful options and potentials, and you are strangling your own lists potential with that glob of points and rot. more buffers, something that can have a wide board presence.

if you truly want to use the Squiggoth then so be it but then you will need to retool the whole list to be actually built around it (which by the way given its forgeworld btw GW is probably going to get rid of it next ed), because your current list is a wonderful start for a Big Hunt army (except the truk) and then theres a Squiggoth there just CONSUMING the points for little to no effective payoff. oh damn Im running out of characters. point being. please diversify. Riders, Bikes, Boyz, Grots, something other than the Squiggoth.

#

for referance Ohio, 1-2K boards are 44"x60"

#

with a garg squiggoth you could snipe from essentially corner to corner. there is no point in that much range. the longest diagonal on those boards is 74", and a Garg Squiggoth is probably some 6 odd inches long itself minimum.

the Wurr Tower on a hunta rig has a range of 24 inches, and is a torrent weapon. which means instead of hitting on 5+s like your Squiggoth, it just deals damage. in a 24 inch range. given the fact the kill rig has a movement of 10, and is roughly 6.5 inches long, that means the Wurr Tower (kill rigs best ranged weapon) has an effective range of 40.5 inches. aka basically half the board if you consider now that the deployment zones on most maps are at least 12 inches, if you forward deploy the kill rig, it now has an effective range of 52 inches, or essentially the entire board given that your enemies will likely ALSO forward deploy meaning they will just BE IN RANGE.

Im doing all this math to just point out how absolutely obscene the Squiggoth is, and how absolutely useless it is for this point range. if you had something like Onslaughts 3,000+ points, then probablu sure you could find room for it and a supply of buddies to help it out. but in 1K, its just..... so ludicrous to use. Onslaught also has a larger board size going up to 44"x90" meaning the 60" range gun actually has a purpose.

Ill stop but I hope Ive made my thoughts clear.

They’re not the same universe in older editions. It was hinted that either 40 K was a bottle in the college of Magic on a shelf or that fantasy was on a world that was blocked off by a warp storm but I was more making a joke because I personally prefer 40 K I don’t like AOS

ebon flume
#

partially correct, to my understanding, the chaos gods are the same

both Egypt-themed skelepeople

isn't the skaven in both?

ebon flume
#

I think there aren't any Skaven in 40k

#

Orks are a thing in both. but AFAIK there aren't any lizard people or skaven in 40k, and there aren't any T'au or or Tyranids in Fantasy.

#

thought you could draw a similarity or two from skaven to tyranids, both being a sort of sentient biological infestation.

#

though, again to my understanding, the Skaven are kinda similar to orks from 40k, madcap inventor types that make things work despite logically being impossible.

north hedge
# dense isle Also not Skaven

I know what skaven look like the rat men. Their description is small rat like people who speak with a stutter who in the lower parts, necromunda, and are extremely greedy. and are obsessed with uranium you seriously cannot tell me that is not just skaven but in space

dense isle
#

Those are generic rat people

north hedge
#

To me that sounds a lot like the skaven

dense isle
#

And I think you are oversimplifying

north hedge
#

I don’t know the ins and outs of AOS lore so if I’m missing something, let me know

dense isle
#

I mean basically warp crystal is essentially a magic resource that can bend the laws of reality and gives scaven the ability to commune with their god the Great Horned Rat. Not to mention it lets impossible tech function.

Skaven also just through virulence alone would destroy a hive city in days, not be trapped in its underbelly. By disease or quantity.

I’d say their closest equivalent in 40k right now are the Snakebite orks.

#

The guys you speak of are a token nod, but they aren’t Skaven

Skaven are very much a product of their setting and GW for one reason or another has not deemed them worthy for 40k

#

They literally made Ghaz unkillable.

#

#

See: demon primarchs and warp revivals.

north hedge
#

Oh I did not know that about ghaz

dense isle
#

Ye

#

Or at least that’s what the local ork heads tell me

#

And honestly…. I’d believe it

prime summit
# uneven vine is why is wander asking

Chelle wants to be a genuine fan of something again, and latched onto Warhammer Age of Sigmar because:

A- it’s got a faction filled with tree golems that she’s wanted for purely aesthetic reasons for years.

B- It has absurdly deep lore.

C- She can paint the minis herself.

D- We found a starter set for 40% off and keep finding other sets + novels on sale so it’s hard to say no.

#

AoS also has the Spearhead system, which is vaguely akin to MtG’s premade Commander decks for a reasonably balanced introduction to the series.

dense isle
#

Spearhead/Combat Patrol are a great way to get started. I hear the spearheads are far better balanced compared to Combat Patrols.

#

ComPat in 40k is a jagged mess.

prime summit
#

Ah, shame.

#

I really like how they've handled Spearhead (at least from reading the book), so I was hoping Combat Patrol would be comparable.

dense isle
#

It’s decent enough but most of the time I personally prefer just doing a 1k game. ComPat has the issue where the boxes are so woefully unbalanced baseline, that they invented brand new statblocks and rules for everything that is somehow…. Even less balanced.

Whoever is responsible for 40ks balance…. Uhhhh…. Doesn’t always seem to understand how the game is actually played.

#

And we know it’s a different team from AOS. That’s been confirmed multiple times over.

#

Back when I joined I think each combat patrol box was meant to be around 500 points so 2 people could pick any 2, and have a good brawl.

Issue was through balance changes and… just general dumbassery there was the admech box worth around 300 points, vs some of the best like the Death Guard box at around 800.

Instead of fixing any of this, this ed they invented the new rules, which as I noted, didn’t fix anything.

#

As I said. Jagged mess.

bitter eagle
#

The new death guard one also looks far worse than the current one imo

#

Like i was expecting the new combat patrol release to try balance it but it doesn’t seem to be the case

dense isle
#

Yeah. They’ve taken the excuse that it’s a different format, and so care about balance even LESS now.

#

So there is….

prime summit
#

If I wanted to get into 40k Kill Team, what would I need?

#

Namely I'm curious about the cards, since they're limited stock.

dense isle
# prime summit If I wanted to get into 40k Kill Team, what would I need?

for the cards: absolutely not you do not need them.

expanding beyond that

theres an app that contains the BASIC rules, and up to date rules for your team. its called "Kill Team: The App" (profound name I know)

you'll need your dudes outside of that app, dice, terrain (actual specific terrain Ill explain later), a ruler or measuring tape, and a mission pack.

your dudes are easy enough thats the plastic minis. dice also easy, D6s you have hundreds of these probably. a ruler or measruing tape is because this entire game franchise is done in inches and having something good and flexible is needed as the official stuff is kinda bad.

terrain! so, each edition of killteam and each big release has come with new official terrain and rules for these terrain. I don't reccomend buying official, but to play killteam as intended, or to use basically any community generated content, getting terrain that is close enough is reccomended. theres loads of online sources for 3d printing, or you can use your artistic tallent to build your own.

for once I truly reccomend using the official layouts (or community revised layouts) because trying to jank together terrain as is tradition for 40k and warhammer does not end well in kill team.

tokens are where we get funky. if you can find an official source of these (or a set of 3d printed ones) have at it. but not all of this can be represented by dice. wounded tokens arent really needed but the stuff you do need are:

activation tokens for engage and conceal.

tokens for grenades, smoke and otherwise.

tokens for mission points.

tokens for your secondaries.

additionally for the universal equipment you will want accurate models for those because they are in fact done in specific sizes, you can also google these for your purposes to build your own.

I think. that roughly. covers the basics. I hope.

#

oh god right I forgot about mission packs

#

this. this thing. you will want one of these.

it contains what you need to select stuff at the start of the game (and while you don't technically need it it makes it SIGNIFICANTLY easier than rifling through the books/the app)

#

but no the data sheet card packs I believe are all already out of date

dense isle
#

as are my real life physical books which brings me great pain because I am a fiend for the tactile.

static blade
#

good to see someone else taking interest in the mecha-boney bois, tho

dense isle
#

but I do hope that covers all your initial kill team questions feel free to ping me with more.

#

I primarily play Vespid Stingwings though so Im not great with specific team rules, but the generics I have a solid grasp on. or at least I like to think so.

prime summit
#

I'm seriously considering picking up the AoS: Ossiarch Bonereaper sets and painting them to look kinda like Necrons.

#

They're like, 80% of the way there.

dense isle
#

sounds like a sweet conversion.

prime summit
#

But medieval.

#

Oh yeah, I could probably use them as proxies easy.

#

If I went mad I could probably kitbash the two and make some real neat stuff.

#

But that's pricey.

dense isle
#

yeah

#

the only issue I forsee is I think killteam line of sight relies on the physical models themselves, but as long as you get the shapes and sizes close enough nobody will care.

prime summit
#

I'll probably still get the Killteam set too.

#

I just need to find a set Chelle likes to convince her to try it.

#

Problem is she's only interested in the Aeldari & Tyranids.

#

Er, Drukhari

#

Probably way down on the wishlist. I've got a lot of other junk to buy.

prime summit

Gonna finally put together my non-push fit minis tonight. Anyone got advice?

static blade
#

Patience and hold onto the far half of the about to be glued parts, no matter how awkward the handling, it's better than gluing them to what's holding them.

dense isle
# prime summit Gonna finally put together my non-push fit minis tonight. Anyone got advice?

patience, dry test the fit, and theres no such thing as too much glue. unelss you glue your hand to the mini in which case you used too much glue.

that aside, be ready to shave down some parts, and or snip away at stray bits. not every mold gives out clean parts, and many others have decayed with time leading to a worse fit than intended. this happened to me personally with my Kill Rigs, where tolerances were out of whack and I had to jank together numerious sections.

#

so, just be prepared. you'll be fine. we've all been through it before. keep a cool head, some good background noise, and get into a groove.

4000 point model in a game that only has rules that go up to 3000

bitter eagle
#

And is standard to play at 2k and tbh I feel a 2k list could beat a warlord (a warlord is 3500 points) as you need to score objectives lol

Heeeeeeh

I remember that livestream

Is the pendant Crusade battle force box worth it if I’m starting a sister of battle army?

dense isle
#

Add up the points v dollar value?

I don’t know sisters that well.

north hedge
#

The place I’m looking at has it for 280 and it has 680 points in the box is that good or bad?

tiny pike
#

Depends on how big of point games you want to play.

dense isle
bitter eagle
#

I also believe the models In it are very playable

prime summit
#

I think I have an obsession.

#

Also put in an order for Kill Team: Typhon so I can give that mode a shot.

prime summit
#

Do I actually need the terrain set for KT?

dense isle
prime summit
#

Yeah, I think I'm up to roughly 2.5k in points across my spearheads.

dense isle

I mean... boney boyos are always a good time.

dense isle
static blade
#

As for proper terrain, I've done skirmishes on pop cans, binders, and old dnd terrain just fine

dense isle
#

Yeah.

tiny pike
#

To be fair, you need a lot of terrain with wargame.

#

Not quite as much with squad-based.

dense isle
prime summit
#

AoS has much lower terrain requirements

#

So we're spoiled over there.

#

Just a couple of walls/fences mostly.

#

IIRC line of sight is also waaaaaaaaaaay less fiddly.

tiny pike
#

AoS is more real-life-scale battles, at wargame levels, though, unlike 40k which is having stuff the size of buildings like the Hagia Sophia (but actually it's more like ten of the Hagia Sophia) moving around the battlefield.

prime summit
#

That's only some versions of 40k from what I can tell.

#

Most of those giga models aren't exactly legal.

#

Or at least not practical.

dense isle
#

Like as I gave Ohio crap for a month or 2 ago, the giant giga Squig for orks is a terrible model without a practical purpose outside of like, special game modes.

tiny pike
dense isle
#

It is very powerful. It’s also like 1500 points into a single big target that will get shot off the board instantly.

#

It’s great, if you can support it, which you can’t in 2k.

tiny pike
#

Ork Logic dictates that big Squig is powahful, and that is all that matters.

dense isle
#

Anywho the point I’m trying to make is in KT like half the board is terrain. Because shooting is nasty. And melee teams need a chance in hell against that. As Wander is getting the Raveners box, he will learn this lesson well as the Ravs are 99% melee by volume.

#

Typhon. Whatever silly name they gave it.

bitter eagle
#

The admech are there too and they seem shooty

#

The best terrain is books tbh

dense isle
bitter eagle
#

I haven’t played the new kill team yet as it realesed as I got into the old one so am a bit uncertain on if I should buy the rules or wait (I know there is minimum 2 years of life in this one but still meh on it)

#

Also am getting into Horus heresy properly just as the new edition was announced so that’s fun

dense isle
#

So I never played the old KT but I can tell you that I personally find it fun. The rules between teams so far has been fairly competitive, although many require a lot more pushing to get up to par.

bitter eagle
#

Fair would probably continue to run beast men as they seem better than before

dense isle
#

Although elite teams have been…. Very dominant. Who knew getting 3 actions in one turn was good.

dense isle
#

Turns out being too angy to die is a great benefit.

bitter eagle
#

Yer I forget there actual name lol

dense isle
#

Too many names.

bitter eagle
bitter eagle
dense isle

Positive news there’s only 2 of those right now. I think. Generic spacies, and papa nurgles boys

#

And papa nurgle has some potent sugar babies rn.

bitter eagle
#

Ohh i thought there was the phobus

dense isle
#

….. wait is there?

bitter eagle
#

I’d probably put dg for dg

bitter eagle
#

Yer phobus strike team lol

dense isle
#

I honestly dunno at this point. There might be but as you may know they shredded all of the extended teams.

bitter eagle
#

Also warpcoven if we include chaos

dense isle
dense isle
#

Okay

#

Yeah see my memory blurs all the spacies together

#

They’re dudes in armour and they much hurty.

bitter eagle
#

6 total looking at the app

dense isle

Christ

#

How the hell did I think 2

bitter eagle
#

Not including scouts

dense isle
#

7 god damned teams, and not ONE are my golden boys

#

This is disgraceful

tiny pike
bitter eagle
dense isle
bitter eagle
#

As there is 3(?) cultist teams

#

I’m not including Beastmen in that but there also CSM codex

dense isle
#

Beasties don’t have spacies!

#

They’re all angry goats

bitter eagle
#

Ohh then it’s just 7 as rest are humans or abhumans lumped under the CSM name

dense isle
#

Fair enough

I cannot wait for this, the 23rd is too far away. The Arbites just gives AURA in this image.

tiny pike
#

I mean, RoboCopJudgeDredd w/ cyborg dog is obviously going to have strong aura.

#

Not to mention the fact that said RoboCopJudgeDredd is also the tax man.

shell wind
#

OMFG

#

I have to name my Arbites Taxman now.

#

Ty for this.

tiny pike
#

(Arbites collect the Imperial Tithe, is what I mean by "tax man" btw.)

Finally did some Darktide modding. Kept it pretty minimal, but little things like true level are cool to have. Picked up the scoreboard and other qol things like that.

RIP Urutta. Dead due to not turning off reply ping. :P

dense isle

He will be missed.

tiny pike
#

Now the question: Open Casket or Closed Casket funeral?

dense isle
#

Well, as you can observe this was a form of begging.

The only option is a jar.

tiny pike
#

Yeah. Open casket (jar visible) or closed casket (jar not visible)?

dense isle
#

Ah. Hm. That is far more difficult.

wispy pilot
#

hmm im still waiting on my demise :v

#

havnt felt anything yet

tiny pike

It's already happened. You're now a ghost.

tiny pike

Without the buff, he could outrun the Daemonhost, but not 1v1 it.
