I reccomend looking up learn to play videos on youtube, and when comfortable enough, ask someone at your LGS to help you learn? typically people are fairly welcoming in that reguard.

I know thats not very helpful, but its one of the better methods Ive seen done.

Those people are mixing up the Nids with the Preythoran Scourge from Stellaris (which is based on the Nids). The Scourge is fleeing from something (we're never told what, and the only way to see this info in game is to be Psionic when the Scourge arrives and initiates the one time diplomacy menu).

Speaking of which i was told to ask here if it was any good of an army before i buy anything, because this is my first time making an army.
It is 1995 points in 10th edition
They are space marines, anvil siege force
there are 3 devastator squads of 5 units, each devastator bolgun is replaced with the lascannon. The devastator captains each have a grav pistol and power fist.

Each devastator squad is lead by an apothecary, One of those apothecaries is my warlord and has architect of war.

There are also two whirlwinds, and a warhound titan using two plasma blastguns.

mmm, first solo campaign mission, must say I'm not liking the lack of interest from the NPC marines towards the final mission objective. not a single bolt fired at the gargoyles, even if I'm focusing down everything else around. I failed out of that part of the mission three times, and it felt like I had to do everything.

considering: the AI will not pick up the flamethrower, which is essential for this mission, otherwise you get overrun by ripper swarms, (which by the way you get overrun by anyways but just slightly LESS overrun so its actually possible to occationally do somet things) and the fact this mission was CLEARLY meant for 3 humans with functional neurons to complete instead of 1 idiot and 2 braindead AIs who are ONLY GOOD FOR REVIVING ME.

there is a reason space marine 1 gave you 4 weapon slots.

because it knew you needed them. this game gives you 2. and expects for you to have at least 1 actual real human companion along for the ride

issue is: I dont. and dont want to. I want to play a nice SINGLEPLAYER CAMPAIGN

||hero, when I say driven to madness, I mean people with psycher powers quite literally have their minds destroyed by the DEAFENING SILENCE of the shadow in the warp. additionally psycher powers become SIGNIFICANTLY WEAKER when near the shadow. its a whole thing, and certain hivefleets have specced heavily into it, although Im unsure of which hive fleet we face. I know it cannot be gorgon, but it also isnt jormungaundr. those 2 are just right out given the lack of gas and proper bombardment stratagies. so basically I know its not some hive fleets. anyways. the long and short is their psycher powers should just.... straight up not function most of the time. hell the demons I am currently fighting should be falling apart at the seams given that the shadow in the warp can significantly weaken and in some instances even DESTROY demons mortal shells. what Im saying is Hero, given the situation at hand, and the information I have, the devs clearly forgot the shadow in the warp existed. and I will point and laugh at them for that.||

I am biased by the fact they're the Norse rep Chapter. But that's beside the point.

I mean, I have a bias towards the salamanders (or World Eaters, cus I like a good fight) cus I'm a pyro when it comes to fantasy and scifi content, but I don't disregard every single other option immediately (not without good reason, as I see with the Wordbearers for example).

Take for example, Erebus. One of the worst characters in 40k, because he has actually boring design and representation. His primarch isn't much better either. They are only remotely important because of the role they served in igniting the Heresy, and even the way they did that is just mid to me.

Lorgar was just straight up a simp, who threw a fit and started simping for the dark powers instead of his father.

Vulkan created the ultimate "NO U" machine and stuck it under the golden throne in the event Terra falls. We don't know what the hell it does, but it's supposedly so powerful that it tear the galaxy a second rift...

He's perpetual which means he's not exactly dead right now, and more like "lost". His sons have a quest to find his ancient artifacts while protecting the people of the empirium as they do. They believe that finding all of them will awaken Vulkan, ushering in his awakened form that some of the other primarchs have achieved.

Basically, a primarch made of living flame or a walking volcano* (as are my interpretations of their edicts on the matter).

I'm not saying you're reasons for loving the Wolves are invalid of course, but it's another thing to just cast all others into the* bin.

Like imo, the reasons I gave for my love of the Salamanders puts them above the rest. I do acknowledge that other chapters have cool things going on for themselves too though.

White scars go fast, blood angels be vampires, the ultramarines are a solid general foundation that draw people in (they're easy to understand for people new to 40k and that opens them up to a lot of interesting characters). Even traitor factions are sick. Magnus's story is absolutely tragic, as is Angron's.

It's a matter of perspective to be fair, and I do enjoy looking at 40k as a whole. There is just so much going to enjoy, I find it hard to be that dejected about anything beyond one entity within the setting*.

Which all of this just boils down to, "you do you" I suppose.
