thoughts on DLC final boss at NG+7 ||he's an overtuned abomination. not in the fun way where you can learn and beat him like old radahn was, hes just a massive block of stats and AOEs that demands either perfection or cheese. there was no learning here. besides when I was safe to unblock. merely a slow crawl towards death of either me, or them. the victory feels hollow because I felt I had to rely on old tricks to beat him. certainly I believe in a lower difficulty I could have enjoyed this boss, but not up here in +7. every other boss in this game I have enjoyed at +7 and have had good times with. by learning, adapting, and growing. This boss felt like a check of "did you remember to bring the new beefy shield, did you give your weapon poison, did you correctly charge in to save your NPC meatshields at the perfect time, did said NPC meatshields survive the massive AOEs or did they not?" it just..... it was a series of RNG checks it felt like. Probably a wonderful boss at lower difficulties. just.... for once.... not up here. Its a solid encounter, interesting lore details but just..... not for up here. not at this level. and maybe, probably, thats the point. NG+7 isnt supposed to be a walk in the park of being able to do whatever I want. but Ive been able to do that for so long...... that it just feels strange having to retool my build to such a different state. I want to have enjoyed it, I want that to have been the big hurah..... but it just feels hollow. I dont know. maybe next go around Ill not cheese him and actaully try to fight him properly. maybe I was meant to have more NPC summons, convince people to betray him and join me in battle. I just dont know at this point. but honestly..... it just feels hollow. good..... but hollow.||

okay I THINK I figured out the issue with [spell spoiler] ||Bayles Tyrany|| the issue is theres a number of hitboxes, and you basicaly have to be hugging your target for max damage, but if YOU GET IN THERE, it deals THOUSANDS.

I really hope that this stays in cause now that I understand that its essentially a sweetspot mechanic

Those little guys give great souls once you can deal with them
you can sneak up on them without much issue generally once you know their patrol patterns
and from where you teleport in and run down towards the bridge ( or on horse better) there is a a site of grace and inside the temple where it dumps you

if you get to the three guys camping just before the stone bridge to the east, then run straight north, there's a grace partway along the cliffside just below that red circle, If you scamper past the squids by the upper river northwest, there's a jump spring to the left of the valley, convenient grace right beside the bridge.

contains a boss breakdown for the final boss. you were warnned. ||The second phase is just...... yeah. I tried to do it 'legit' I really, really did. I doubt I will ever be able to beat him without shield poke unless I dedicate weeks and weeks to attempts. that is to note, on NG+7. I think with my usual habbits and my old NG character (who was around SL 300-350) I'd have a shot. but outside of that? In my bloody dreams. MP works semi consistently..... if you have someone shield pokeing and holding aggro. he's just so obscene. lets ignore the 1 shot mechanic because thats basically just a nothing burger if you did the flower boss. he has an enhanced radahns meteor that while easy to dodge if you mastered radahn, a lot of people are still on their first playthrough and didnt ever learn the proper timings on that. the lasers after each and every attack roll catch you so good luck ever dodging that. you need light rolling to dodge that which if you are light rolling a single attack will just kill you. the echo attacks are the worst though. each attack has its own number of echos. theres not a consistent number, and depending on lag theres inconsistency with their timings. oh speaking of lag. his giga sky laser. it nearly LAGS OUT MY GAME when he does it. it has so much SFX. its just. eugh. this man gives Fride a run for her money, not because of required skill, but just because he's an overtuned nightmare that forced me to pull out stratagies I had relegated to "I hate this and never want to do this playstyle again"||

the meteor dive ( the one from beginning and in second phase ) and the "i float in air and throw rocks at you" is ok for me, not hard to dodge at mid load. [edit] oh... theres an actual meteor move... 😅 [/]
but those afterimage attacks weird out my eyes plus the constant chip from passtrough ( i use black steel greatshield ) and long combos just melt the hp away slowly ( plus sometimes faster if he manages to push trough my stamina with long chain and i dont manage to roll ). and it becomes harder to catch him for smacks in second phase. in first phase he has decent long windows. and ye - did the sunflower boss, even looked up info about the rune 😄
my plan atm is - try the boss from time to time and try to heavy shield + cheese-bleed him somehow and perhaps try stacking some other status effects.
can look for some more shadow tree fragments but kinda dont wanna at this moment as it would basically be just me reading the guide and wrapping around.
up till this boss - i would say i had fun time and no boss seemed too hard, some took more retries but were at least fun ( for me )
if people felt like this on other bosses, i guess i can see where the mixed reviews came from. on my side im overall happy about the dlc tho 😄

Morgot ( in Limgrave) is optional as well as you can skip the castle by using the bridge cliff side to get to Liurnia
There you dont need the academy or the madallion by going into the north and taking the mines to get to the Altus Plateau
There you just need to get into the capitol
Kill Morgot there at the thrones
Go to the Mountain top , kill Fire Giant and get send to Farum Azula to unleash destined death by killing Maliketh
After that you are autmatically back in the capitol and just have Gideon and Godfrey waiting for you

yeah. as someone in higher NGs I can absolutely say that if you try and treat phase 1 as a normal boss fight, youre doing it wrong

then you can fight phase 2 relatively fairly
phase 1 is basically just a check of "did you learn this fight in earlier NGs and did you realize its a fools erand trying to fight her traditionally"
which is kinda fun. its one of the reasons I like high NGs, it changes up fights a lot.
they go from skill checks to more puzzles and optimizing how you tackle each phase.

but 90% of the time?
the endlag from a jump will get you killed
certain, slelect, SPECIFIC bosses, jumping is good
those bosses are very obvious. everyone else? roll.
jumping takes longer to recover from (endlag as I discussed) and has signifcantly fewer options than a roll.
rolling you have all the directions you can access after the fact. jumping you are locked in a trajectory or standing still, and once again the endlag is hell for your weapon follow ups. if you now say use a jump attack, the endlag on that is even LONGER.
TLDR: people need to learn when NOT to jump.
because the internet has been shoving jumping down everyones throats for years now when guess what, ITS SUBOPTIMAL IN A LOT OF WAYS
if you want better iframes, LIGHT ROLL.

on the subject of roll types, it's shocking how viable fatroll can be in some superheavy block builds. don't want to block a certain attack? just lie down for a bit, problem solved. same problem as jumping, though. endlag is vicious.

he can follow you anywhere cause he can teleport to you

The Teleport literally is a combat only thing for some Ashes like Oleg and the Beheaded one
If I start to climb stuff with the Mimic one it is always nearby
The Big advantage of the Mimic over the others are three things :
A) You decide the equipment and thus the attacks
B) They dont have FP meaning they can keep using skills
C) Items you have equiped other than Runic Arc and Flasks they can use INFINITELY
So equip for example a single Hefty Fire Pot and the Mimimc will keep throwing them
Also the Mimics great advantage is that it uses HP and not FP to summon it

mimic is objectively the best summon
and the funny part is that it doesnt care what your absorption is. it always has 50%.

i was using it thinking it was a another cloaking or kinda like a 40k harlequins thing making it hard to see what the person is doing but then i used it and i just blipped in and out and i got confused then i found out it was teleporting me but cause i wasnt giving it a directional input it was just putting me back where i was standing

got killed once because there's some wolves nearby and the game decided locking on to some wolves in the distance was MAXIMUM PRIORITY and wouldn't lock back on the troll's knees
