#✅ - With the Kiro 0.8 release, do we need the Fetch MCP server anymore?

No, the new web search feature doesn’t make the Fetch MCP server obsolete.
It’s a common question, but the two serve different purposes. The web tools update lets Kiro pull in public docs, library versions, or technical references during chat helpful for research without leaving the IDE. But Fetch MCP is still in play for secure, controlled access to internal systems, authenticated endpoints, and regulated data flows.
Public lookup ≠ internal integration. You still need MCP for the latter.
So no changes there MCP remains active and necessary for its intended use cases.
