Pickaxe just in general allows you to gain more ores quicker, which in turn allows you to craft more tools and equipment on your farm

Think back to your first Copper upgrade, you probably picked the pickaxe because it allowed you to mine ores faster, and the whole tree / watering situation was easy enough with the basic farming tools you got

Additionally, if you are wanting to cook all the recipes, eel, tuna, and 4 carps are used. I am not entirely sure if any other ones are.

@ambersgone for one, there are technical considerations: Stardew uses peer to peer multiplayer, there is no central server, so someone's phone would have to host the game. Also, the multiplayer version of the game has worse performance which is significant for many phones
