Hello everyone, I've been using the Stardew Wiki to help me install mods, but I've been having no luck. I keep getting the message "Oops! Looks like Mono isn't installed. Please install Mono from https://mono-project.com, reboot, and run this installer again." Even though, I've already downloaded it. And I used the Stardew Valley Wiki Mods Troubleshooting page's suggestion of downloading Homebrew and inputting "brew install mono mono-libgdiplus" in the terminal. I've tried youtube tutorials and everything! Nothing has worked, I need help y'all... I just wanna enjoy some SDV mods for the first time 😦

I had posted about this glitch before in this channel, and I thought WTTDR might've been the cause before, but even though I uninstalled it, this screen glitch still persists. a way to find out:
type cd and a space
drag the SMAPI install from Finder to Terminal
it will fill out the location for you

I suggest reinstall/update SMAPI, on suspicion that steam has updated itself and the thing you did to launch via SMAPI is no longer done

just updated some mods, the only thing thats changes is i have some id scrambles but i cant get to the ones in the fish ponds

I'm having a dumb moment, if I want this mod for animal sprites to randomize what color it would be, in the config file can I just put the options I want separated by comma, and it'll randomly generate one of those options?

I also use K's animals but her's works differently in that it has you paste each variation you want in its own folder in the mod file, and not in one config file like this
I was wondering if anyone could help, I'm having an issue where any time I click on the collections tab it just closes the gui out so I can't access any of the info there.
I've seen a few posts on reddit about this issue, but no one has any idea. I think it's a modded issue.

hmm, it is a little bit! This is the first time I'll have to fiddle in the content.json, currently it looks like this --

as in this case I like all the sprite variations for the rabbit and woudl like it to just choose any of them (outside of vanilla, as that just disables the sprite)
here's the bit you want to edit
and you want to randomize FromFile
their example is "FromFile": "assets/abigail-{{Random:hood, jacket, raincoat}}.png"
so what might work is
"FromFile": "assets/rabbit/{{Random:blonde, black, white, brown, blonde blaze, brown blaze, black blaze, brown spots, black spots}}.png",

if it works and you get serious about it, you could add random as a configuration choice instead of a cheap hack 🙂

your choice doesn't matter, as long as it's not vanilla
I suspect all rabbits will be the same color and that color will change each day...

ok got it working! but now it shows red and it won't stop scrolling

the instructions are on the log site, it starts a new log every time you start the game via smapi exe
(and if its scrolling infinite red you want to stop the game before it runs for 'too' long otherwise the log file size gets huge with largely irrelevant text)
so looking at it.... TMXL map had 1800+ errors.... and smapi had 15. ill post link though
yeah those 1800 errors are probably 2-3 repeated 600 times

you have customnpcfixes twice

@rare quest - reporting a map bug on Stardew Valley Expanded v1.13.8 (also using Immersive Farm 2 Remastered v1.13.5). During the Enchanted Grove Event where you get access to the Nexus Location above your farm, you get spawned into this bush that blocks your access to that location, and you can't remove/cut the bush down from what I can tell. Let me know if you need any other details, thanks!
yea noticed SDVE had it's own copy so only removed the one that was by itself
dependency rabbit hole is fun, but once you get the 10-20 frameworks everything needs, you dont have to worry about it much

while you're at it i'd suggest moving everything out of the -Stardew Valley Expanded--3753-1-13-8-1625195234 folder to the Mods folder to avoid problems with too long paths @keen mirage

So what does it mean when I get no errors in my SMAPI log nor from Windows/SDV, but running vanilla SDV works fine and running with my mods results in a silent crash to desktop at the start of the first day? I'm using a lot of mods so I could be hitting the 32-bit limit, but isn't that supposed to give an Out of Memory Exception instead of just kicking you out to the desktop?
should i be worried about it, should i do something about it?
ah and yeah, it's an xnb mod, that one definately would do bad things to your game
the dev tools thing.. is probably something related to mac/mono, would need someone more familiar with that enviornment to chime in

it will let you empty out your ponds and reset the fish
fish all the fish out, reset, and put a base game fish in there
you'll get thousands of yellow warnings while you do this, it's ok

its an old xnb replacement for the window objects themselves from 2017, odds are good it will break something

yerp, the error message suggests that mono is crashing, which tries to launch lldb for debugging
@mental condorif it tells you to replace game files or go somewhere other than just mods, its an xnb mod that's probably old and will almost definately cause issues
installing it will not help you, lldb is for debugging crashes, it's not the cause of them or the solution to them

@mental condorusing something like that (also backup the xnbs you replace) will cause those game files to revert to ones from whatever version the xnb is from, meaning windows will look like 1.3 menus and the like, if it doesnt crash outright, xnb modding in general has been the way of the dodo for years, because of these reasons and others

@mental condorafter finally finding it by searching, that one seems to have issues with 1.5, the one I posted or the vintage one on page 2-3 'should' in theory work, but interface stuff especially you should probably find something 'semi' recent atleast, as interface things tend to change with atleast every major point release of the game

Health & Stamina Regeneration
You regenerate 1 stamina and health per second. Of course it has delay, so it's not cheaty
I use it and I think it helps a lot. It takes time to get your health and stamina full again. So you can use it and it won't be cheaty without Breaking up your gameplay

If it's a SMAPI mod, you can check https://smapi.io/mods/ to see if the mod is hosted on other sites where they might not be deleted. If the file was archived (the new Nexus thing), it's possible to download it anyway. Otherwise unfortunately those files are probably unrecoverable.
(Though if the mod is open-source, you could recompile an older version from the Git repo yourself.)

Hi hi, I'm having a glitch with the Journal Scraps- when I used them, they all came up as Day 1
I don't know what to do about this. Can I still get enough walnuts to complete the game even without the scraps? Will not having the scraps prevent me from unlocking stuff?
I'm not sure what mod is the cause.
Smapi shows no errors when this happens.
I read in the CJB item spawner posts that it could be due to it, but pathos hasn't posted any update on if that can be fixed

it's not my mod, but i did make an alternate version of its ProducerRules.json file - you can get it on moddrop
install the main version first, and then the Quality Artisan Products patch from the same page (it's the second download in the list)

Hi! There's an issue with journal scraps spawned through CJB Item Spawner, but it won't have any effect on those you find normally. First, if you reset your game files (https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Troubleshooting#Reset_your_content_files) does it say any files will be redownloaded?
Is there a way to get ??HMTGF?? in SVE? I got the other two no problem, but the gated area behind Clint's is not there in SVE.
only if you have xnb mods (which verifying is sort of ment to remove/fix)

Yep (see https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Saves for more info). Resetting the game files won't change any of your saves, or any of the normal mods in the Mods folder though.

journal scraps lock out 3 walnuts
you may also need them to unlock 1 puzzle with 5 walnuts, but I don't think so
the remaining walnuts are enough to unlock all rewards

ok so.. i was midgame, then enabled zoom out in the settings menu. i played for a while then went again to settings, but now > mod configurations > the generic mod config, and i assume its because of the heightened zoom that the window is centered very weird... and that wouldnt be a problem if i could scroll or get out of this in any way but i dont think i can. buttons arent working but i can still hear the ambience music. look at #images-and-memes for a screen cap

i can handle the child to npc and duplicate issues, on that now, but,,,, whenever i try to rename chests with gems in it, it stops while i'm typing and teleports me to (i think) the location from either island secret or gem isles. i am very confused.

and you both the base version and some sort of patch that I'm not familiar with, unsure if you're meant to copy it into the normal mod or not, but they use the same name so smapi declares it a dupe and loads neither

You can try setting this "DisposeOldTextures": true in the (newest version of SpaceCore on Nexus) in the config. (Experimental, so if it crashes you can just put it off, hasn't happened to me yet though). I believe it dials back the memory usage.
In the smapi-internal folder there's a config in which you can set "AggressiveMemoryOptimizations": true, there's an explanation in there but that's also experimental(?) I believe
one last thing, are achievements enabled with mods on?
There's someone here who has 993 mods and for them it runs in half an hour.

your teleportation sounds like you have a mod that you're somehow hitting the keybind for while typing into the text string

i want to add that to my game but still confuse how that work
helo, so the game loaded and chests didn't teleport me this time (!!!) but 1) loads of stuff in my chests have been replaced by other things - mods mixing up, vegetables replaced with seeds, random gems and things where vegetables once were, etc. and 2) the screen isn't following me again, but this is only an issue a few in-game hours into the day and in a place where it wasn't an issue earlier that same day 🤔
if you added ja mods since last save you will quite possibly have items all scrambled
is there any way to restore them? usually i just sell all of them but this is like,,,,so much of my stuff 😭 it must be that, since i moved all my mods to 64bit
its 'usually' not chest stuff I think though, been a while since I climbed that particular mountain
i dont think theres a way to restore them (as far as i know), with the JA shuffle you just trash/sell the items and spawn them back with cjb if you remember what they were
it's always been chest stuff for me, whenever i add mods and my potatoes turn into amethysts

if they have high quality songs, i might put the files in a converter to downgrade the audio quality and reduce the filesize
It's just big, but yes having multiple (high quality) songs (or expansions or just lots of mods) can cause your game for example to take more time to load or lag and if your PC can't really handle that
some people messed with the music and it caused a bunch of issues, but I don't know much about it myself

well, you could try disabling Animations and all Background Apps in your Windows settings (if you use windows). It helped me xp

If you'd want to tweak some settings.. SpaceCore has a config in it's folder where you can put "DisposeOldTextures": true" which reduces memory usage (experimental, if crashes happen just set to false, hasn't happened to me though) and there is a folder called smapi-internal in your game folder which also has a config, search for "AggressiveMemoryOptimizations": false in there and set that to true. There's an explanation above it
i also disabled some visual mods just to reduce loading speeds

Don't know if anyoe has responded to this, but SVE and WTTDR are absolutely fine. It's Downtown Zuzu that creates/completes the circular route.
(I presented the problem and the solution a couple of weeks ago. If it's not fixed... well, the fix is in that blog post)
the last bit I saw on the zuzu comments was something about ridgeside minecarts causing something similar, if I'm not losing it, I can check the files
at first glance it doesnt look like it, in the main cp content it both replaces the vanilla sewer with its on tmx, and then adds a Warp map prop to it, going to the zuzu sewer, forest and 'bugland'
I had the issue with Grampleton and my East Scarp compatibility for a bit. I fixed it before release though.

the 'correct' way is via dependency, alphabet works.. usually, but not on mac/linux probably
dependencys are set in the manifest, and make said mod load after the dependency
so i add a dependency in the zuzu cp manifest, and set sve as a dependency so that it loads sve before itself?

well since the island is always summer I think it's just conflicting with the season on the farm (it's autumn on my farm)

maybe it's just the island something happened and I feel like it has something to do with those slimes
I tried to breed tiger slimes on the island in a fenced area
they hatched but they just dissappeared
so idk maybe my island is now fucked up cuz of those slimes
Try spamming with a sword to kill them
Or bombs
cuz I bred them up on the stair case area that's bridged next the island area that has tiger slimes that spawn naturally there
Killing them might be the only option
so maybe they can only exist in that area
Place bombs on the stairs
If they are there but invisible and they die it should be fixed if that was the problem

okay I checked my other files and yeah they're invisible on the island only
so it isn't the slimes
they probably can't load a sprite fast enough since it's summer all the time there
