you should just have to double click on the windows one
(idk why mine shows as .bat but, it should be the one for windows, I use the one for mac. I just double click the mac file and it installs smapi.)

then after extracting the SMAPI folder to my desktop, i get these errors:

i had to extract the internal folder separately?? and THEN i had to extract the full thing, trick my computer into allowing me to edit the internal folder (said i had to be an admin... which i am?) and NOW its running

ok so i need some professional help trying to completely reset my coding in SV. My friend told me to go into the command prompt for the smapi or something and we changed the code there to add a tractor mode, a few years later i reinstall smapi to find out that when i put mods into the mod folder theres still 2 mods installed but not in the folder. Any ideas how to reset the code?
I would GREATLY appreciate it because verifying the integrity of the files doesn't work and uninstalling it wont work either

What do you mean by this o: ? SMAPI comes bundled with 2 mods, Console Commands and Save Backup. They are automatically put into the Mods folder when you install SMAPI
so when i try to run the game it says 2 mods are installed but when i put my new mods in there they dont show up, or maybe i haven't activated them. they also dont show up in the prompt, still saying only 2 mods are active

The dragging and dropping of folders is minimal to me, and yea for sure mote control, and no mishaps with Vortex casually eating manifest files or losing configs ๐

So there's XNB mods, which require directly replacing game files, which is an outdated method and not recommended. Then there's content packs, which are just mods that use a framework. For example, a mod that adds new items using Json Assets (JA) is a content pack for JA

anyone know what the event ID for the adventurer's guild thing is after you kill the 10 green slimes? I ran into a glitch and the event doesn't trigger, though it does mark as complete in the quest log

@dire fractal it's not in the event files. There's no vanilla event data for the Guild location, instead any vanilla cutscene would be hard-coded to happen and the event script located somewhere else in the content files. I don't know if it even has an event ID to call.
Wait - you aren't able to enter the guild until you've finished the quest, actually. So if you're able to enter normally, it sounds like it's registering as done? But it still lingers in your quest log, is that right?

@fair vessel not quite. i complete the initiation quest. it tells me to go to the adventurers guild. I do that, it fades out like it's about to play a cutscene. Then it fades back in, the quest completes and vanishes, no cutscene.

It might be possible in mods that alr use i18n (to have everything to translate in one file), but I don't think SVE alr use that CP feature... Thus it will require changing the whole mods

Using the Nexus mod manager is actually not a great idea for Stardewโit tends to mess up files! We recommend manual download and install of mods most of the time

basically, the installer should give you a path in quotes to put in there with %command% after it
so I'm thinking smapi and vortex are not compatble if you want steam?
Not having used Vortex, I'm not really sure. Sorry. Your easiest route might be to reinstall SMAPI manuallyโit's pretty fast.
(And the installer cleans up after itself for updates and such so you shouldn't have to worry about deleting anything.)

@gilded kraken You can use aquarium without custom npc fixes if you use SVE. You can also use custom npc fixes with SVE, it just doesnโt run the mod/code neither is it necessary
Also question about the large chests / magic chests mod, it mentions itโs multiplayer friendly but comments seem to show problems with chests changing to normal and not going back / items lost. The mod hasnโt been worked on for a while? My question is, who uses is, and how is it? Had any problems with it?

@stuck hazel you are using an outdated mod (either an XNB mod or a CP mod) that uses an old version of the image file those icons are from.
If you have installed any XNB mods (stuff that replaces things inside the game's Content folder) that is the most likely culprit.
Otherwise, we can look through the CP content pack mods listed in your log and look for ones that edit the cursors file and haven't been updated since before last November
(it's worth noting that what you're seeing is a visual glitch only - the trash can and stack button should still work even though they're invisible.)

second: seasonal anime portraits is failing again. I trimmed out all the non-anime portraits and edited the content file to pick from only the available (anime-type) pictures... And several of the characters are defaulting to their non-seasonal images. grinds teeth

for some people vortex works with most mods, there's also moddrop if you're on windows which works for more people and more consistently, and manual install is pretty easy
@noble saddle there is ModDrop for windows
some mods are manual-only, like everything for More Giant Crops because that has the special install instruction of "all content packs go inside the More Giant Crops folder"

i'm currently using nexus -> vortex, i knew very little about mods when I started so I just found a mod manager. How easy would it be to start using nexus -> moddrop?
once you download moddrop you can make a backup of all your mods you already have in the game
btw i was using only nexus, i downloaded the moddrop after the sve being launched there first xD
personally i just use manual installs - mod manager installs are about the same difficulty as manual installs when it comes to stardew valley

I think you need an earlier version of Content Patcher for android, and you need to uninstall and reinstall SVE
although SVE is a very large mod and can put a lot of strain on phones
but yeah like 90% of your mod is SVE trying to load an apparently missing tilesheet - iirc this tends to happen if you install a new SVE over an old SVE
which is why you delete old SVEs before installing new SVEs
you don't need the SMAPI installer in your Mods folder

Not sure if anyone remembers but a few days ago I mentioned about an empty SMAPI folder no one recognized. Turns out that folder is super important. I decided to delete it since it was "empty" but turned out without that folder my game would not load at all. So yeah fortunately I was able to restore that folder but man don't delete random folders ๐

there is a mod that adds socks with a good bit of defense, called socks of defense or something like that
(defense in weapons won't work, so even when some mods add it to them it's not useful)

That works ok if the overall SVE folder still starts with ( punctuation to make sure everything in it loads ahead of all other mods
then again i did that back when each npc still had their own folder so sve was a mess of a mod to install and uninstall
SVE relies somewhat on folder naming/order/hierarchy for everything to work as intended, I forget which glitches exactly are caused by messing with it though.

yeah I dont change any of the sve folders, I just make a new one to hold it all in one location and have never had any issues
(I think the only issue it has is certain edited places + toned down valley)
I don't think it's a situation of widespread glitchiness, more of a minor thing. But that CP folder (Stardew Valley Expanded) is named the way it is to make sure it gets load priority

Oh I meant because you can use the Tractor to help clear stuff. Mod description and pictures show what it looks like, and the mod author includes detailed descriptions of what the config options are
Oh, Fox, with your 450 mods, how long do your save games take to load? Cause i know even with just the 43 i originally had it takes a moment and sometimes says not responding. sometimes I even have to force close and reopen the game. So do you deal with that too with all those mods?

I get the "not responding" only if I accidentally click the window while it's trying to load my save hehe I think because I use Windowed Borderless mode

yeah same though once ive got the settings set i dont normally revisit it until I reinstall the game
